01/23-185.2-(Trend Weight 183.0)- I went out to dinner with my son yesterday locally as we ran all our errands to prepare for the coming snow today. I really watched my quantities and came in at 1172 calories and 102 carbs for the day which I thought would be just fine. However, my logging shows it was very high in sodium. Another one pound gain is making me really go over my logged food of late. It’s not just how much we eat, it really is the quality of the food too and how it affects our bodies. Today I will try to move more and choose more healthful and helpful foods as I await the snow storm expected to hit again today. I cancelled my out-of-town dental cleaning due to the expected weather so I am hunkered down and have no excuses for not getting some fitness in today too. But first I am going to go bury my head under a pillow and cry, kick and scream – just for a moment. It’s a way better plan than eating my emotions, right?

I don't agree, andreajlnhe. Losing weight is far more complicated than "just math". Our bodies are complex machines and there is a ton of chemistry going on just to keep us upright. Not everybody is looking for "quick and easy"; just effective and maintainable. That's all I want.

01.04.24 - 167.5 (calling surgeon to see why I am blowing up like a balloon)
01.05.24 - 167.2 (surgeon says I am okay - here's to hoping it was just water retention!)
    01.06.24 - 166 (much better)

    01.28.24
    01.29.24
    01.30.24
    01.31.21

    Exercise:
1 - Started small stretches (arms above head, side twists) which are going well. The pulling on my
incisions was horrible at first but are less so after a week. I also started doing some modified
bridges in the hopes that my healing abdominal muscles would start strengthening up. I am
walking much better and even walked the entire trip to Costco and pushed the cart. The hubby
still won't let me lift much except the small laundry basket!
2 - I'm getting much more walking in this week and slowly building up my stamina after surgery. I'm stretching more and more now as well. I still haven't gotten true exercise in the form of biking or aerobics but that will come soon (I hope).
3 - I can now walk for an hour or so without completely tiring out. I still can't push too much or I am a mess by the end of the day. I can lift @ 35 pounds now!
    4 -

Hi again everyone. My name is Mel. I’m a grandma from Ontario. I’m back to continue this challenge for January as you all help keep me accountable. Jan. Goals: break into the 170’s.

Starting weight in March 2023: 230 lbs. (diagnosed with diabetes)
    Goal weight: 120 lbs.
    Height: 5’2”
    Total loss: 52 lbs.
End of Sept. weight: 187.8 lbs.
    End of October weight: 188
    End of Nov. weight: 186
End of Dec. weight: 181.4 lbs.

    Monthly Weight Loss:
    March-10 lbs. (2023)
    April- 8 lbs.
    May- 5 lbs.
June- 4.4 lbs. (trip to Europe)
    July- 5.6
    August-7 lbs. joined a ‘challenge’
    September- 2.6 lbs. ( sick)
    October- (gained) .2 lbs.
    November- loss 1.2 lbs.
    December- 4.4 lbs.

Jan. 1- 181.2 lbs. New Years Gala last night.🥳 Not really a Gala, just a fun dinner and dance. 💃 I danced the night away , and tired out my poor hubby. The Courage Brothers Polar Dip into the frigid waters of Lake Ontario is held near here. Going to walk over later to watch, not participate 🤣!
    Jan. 2- DNW
    Jan. 3-182.4 lbs. fitness class
    Jan. 4-181.2 lbs. morning swim
Jan. 5-182 lbs. bad night, didn’t sleep, so ate. Really weird behaviour as I really want to lose 3 or 4 lbs. before I go on a cruise at the end of January. Smarten up Mel🫨! Anyway, the good news is I swam for an hour this morning and am determined to get back on track. Have 2, sweet, 10 year old granddaughters coming over for a sleepover over today. They won’t do it at their homes, but insist on coming here🤔. They know what they’re doing👵🏻.
Jan. 6- 181 lbs. busy, fun day with granddaughters. Girls baked a yummy cake yesterday but I didn’t eat any. Good for me😢.
Jan. 7- DNW, not my best day, very tired
Jan. 8- 181.6 lbs. expected this. Visited friend last night, wine and cheese. Osteoporosis fitness class today. I’ll never give up. Need to refocus on eating habits. It’s one week into January and I’ve gained, not lost. Going to plan meals and start cooking again. That usually works for me. I enjoy cooking.
Jan. 9- 179.6 lbs. whoo whoo!🤩 Finally broke into the 170’s. I hope it stays.
Jan. 10-179 lbs. This is so inspiring. I went to an osteoporosis class and then did 15 min. on the elliptical afterwards. I think I see my waist starting to emerge👍😲.
Jan. 11-178.2 lbs. I’m happy and a little shocked. This is unusual for me. I hope this stays. The scale has been great for 3 days in a row. Aquafit class today.
Jan. 12- 178.4 lbs. normal fluctuation, fitness class
Jan. 13-DNW let myself get emotionally derailed by an unsuspecting friend
    Jan. 14- 177.6 lbs.
    Jan. 15- 177.6 lbs.
    Jan. 16- 178 lbs.
    Jan. 17- DNW
Jan. 18- 178 self sabotaged last couple of days, went for a swim, sometimes, that’s all I can do, still haven’t figured out how to handle these discouraging moments .😒
    Jan. 19- 178.8 lbs.
    Jan. 20-23 DNW health scare
Jan. 24- 179.8 lbs. fitness class, back on track

@deepwoodslady i hear what you’re saying. I too tend to eat my feelings. Yes, I want to make the most of the rest of this month. I’ve only got 3 more days that I can include in this January challenge as I’m leaving on a cruise. I doubt that I’ll make my goal of a 4 lb. Loss, but would like something close.
