On Thursdays, I bowl in a league with friends I have bowled with since the 1980s. We were all in the Air Force and stationed here at Fairchild AFB near Spokane, WA. All of us have been losing and gaining weight since we've known each other. You could say we have stuck together through "Thick and Thin.
I am blessed to have real-life friends who love to play and are in the same boat as me. They make Thursdays one of my favorite days of the week.

Jan. 1- 181.2 lbs. New Years Gala last night.🥳 Not really a Gala, just a fun dinner and dance. 💃 I danced the night away , and tired out my poor hubby. The Courage Brothers Polar Dip into the frigid waters of Lake Ontario is held near here. Going to walk over later to watch, not participate 🤣!
Jan. 2- DNW
Jan. 3-182.4 lbs. fitness class
Jan. 4-181.2 lbs. morning swim
Jan. 5-182 lbs. bad night, didn’t sleep, so ate. Really weird behaviour as I really want to lose 3 or 4 lbs. before I go on a cruise at the end of January. Smarten up Mel🫨! Anyway, the good news is I swam for an hour this morning and am determined to get back on track. Have 2, sweet, 10 year old granddaughters coming over for a sleepover over today. They won’t do it at their homes, but insist on coming here🤔. They know what they’re doing👵🏻.
Jan. 6- 181 lbs. busy, fun day with granddaughters. Girls baked a yummy cake yesterday but I didn’t eat any. Good for me😢.
Jan. 7- DNW, not my best day, very tired
Jan. 8- 181.6 lbs. expected this. Visited friend last night, wine and cheese. Osteoporosis fitness class today. I’ll never give up. Need to refocus on eating habits. It’s one week into January and I’ve gained, not lost. Going to plan meals and start cooking again. That usually works for me. I enjoy cooking.
Jan. 9- 179.6 lbs. whoo whoo!🤩 Finally broke into the 170’s. I hope it stays.
Jan. 10-179 lbs. This is so inspiring. I went to an osteoporosis class and then did 15 min. on the elliptical afterwards. I think I see my waist starting to emerge👍😲.
Jan. 11-178.2 lbs. I’m happy and a little shocked. This is unusual for me. I hope this stays. The scale has been great for 3 days in a row. Aquafit class today.
Jan. 12- 178.4 lbs. normal fluctuation, fitness class
Jan. 13-DNW let myself get emotionally derailed by an unsuspecting friend
Jan. 14- 177.6 lbs.
Jan. 15- 177.6 lbs.
Jan. 16- 178 lbs.
Jan. 17- DNW
Jan. 18- 178 self sabotaged last couple of days, went for a swim, sometimes, that’s all I can do, still haven’t figured out how to handle these discouraging moments .😒
Jan. 19- 178.8 lbs.
Jan. 20-23 DNW health scare
Jan. 24- 179.8 lbs. fitness class, back on track
Jan. 25- 179.2 lbs. aquafit class
@iLive2Walk I’m going from Florida to the Panama Canal with friends. I’m really excited. It will be interesting.
@stormywxs288 it sounds like you have wonderful friends. You are doing very well at weight loss, and are inspiring me to do better.7 -

01/23-185.2-(Trend Weight 183.0)-
01/24-184.6-(Trend Weight 183.3)- It’s nice to see a drop this morning. I went over my food logs carefully last night. I have been over in sodium pretty consistently. That is a no-no for my heart condition. I also have slacked a little bit on the exercise on many days. I am trying to tweak what TIMES I eat which is pretty confusing to me. I think I am also eating too much bread. Just because it is low calorie and low carb bread doesn’t mean it can be a free-for-all. I have found that I’ve gotten pretty lazy about cooking these past couple of months. I am trying to rely more on sandwiches or frozen meals that contain other starches and preservatives I don’t need. I’ve got to get my inner Julia going and start using up the ungodly amount of food I have in my freezers and pantries. Yes, both those words are plural! Not much time left in the month. I want to make the most of a long month like January since February gives us less time, even with it being a leap year.
01/25-185.2-(Trend Weight 183.7)- Yesterday was one of the planned higher calorie and carb days on the zig-zag plan. In addition, today is no TMI x 2 so a jump up is disappointing but not surprising. Today I have scheduled one of the extra low calorie days. I may try to weigh in tomorrow (I usually don’t on Fridays due to my Friday school schedule for DGS.) If so, it will probably be a very late weigh-in unless they cancel schools again tomorrow Anyway, my cat is making me feel very pudgy. She has began to knead my stomach again before laying down on my lap. That is actually as clear an indicator to me as my scale. Like a human lie-detector. Kinda….Sorta….. I may have a long way to go in the stomach area of weight loss, if truth be told.

Exercise:
1 - Started small stretches (arms above head, side twists) which are going well. The pulling on my
incisions was horrible at first but are less so after a week. I also started doing some modified
bridges in the hopes that my healing abdominal muscles would start strengthening up. I am
walking much better and even walked the entire trip to Costco and pushed the cart. The hubby
still won't let me lift much except the small laundry basket!
2 - I'm getting much more walking in this week and slowly building up my stamina after surgery. I'm stretching more and more now as well. I still haven't gotten true exercise in the form of biking or aerobics but that will come soon (I hope).
3 - I can now walk for an hour or so without completely tiring out. I still can't push too much or I am a mess by the end of the day. I can lift @ 35 pounds now!

Jan 3: 203.4
It’s amazing what logging everything and exercise can do! Feeling fabulous. 🥰 Time to do some quick exercise with Up to the BEat fit with Gina B on YouTube then it’s time to take down the Christmas tree and decorations before heading back to work tomorrow.
Jan 4: 203.3 Happy Thursday friends! Today is my Monday. Time to get back to work and keep up with the good habits.

Jan 9: 203.2 over indulged in salty wings while watching U of M play in the National Championship last night. Great game and tasty food. Gotta eat more veggies today to compensate.
Jan 10: 204.6 It’s amazing how quickly the scale reacts to a day of mindless grazing. Need to stop the slip back into bad habits now.

Last night we ate late because we wanted to use the pizza kit we purchased from neighbor's kids for their school band fundraiser. We should just donate money and bypass the food they are selling, but the frugal gourmet in me makes me want to consume the carbo-loaded prizes that come with the donation.
Last year it was apple pie and this year pizza.
Lucky for me it didn't show up on the scale this morning. Ha! Tomorrow I planned on fasting but we are taking our granddaughter out to celebrate her 23rd birthday. Life gets in the way sometimes doesn't it? Looks like tomorrow will be a One Meal A Day (OMAD) instead of a fast. I feel blessed to have "GOOD" problems like these in my life.

01/26-182.4-(Trend Weight 183.6)- This is a nice drop overnight thanks to finally achieving TMI and also having the extra low cal & carb day yesterday on my zig-zag plan. I did practically zero exercise yesterday, just a little chair yoga, so I need to get some movement in today. It will be difficult while babysitting my DGS, he is so demanding. But I can try to sneak some in before I meet the school bus at 3:30. It’s just that there are other things I need to do also before he gets here. Wow, I used to love Fridays before I retired. Now they are a discombobulated ball of confusion filled with whatchamacallits and thingamajigs. Oh, the joys of being a Nana!

Anyway, the good news is I swam for an hour this morning and am determined to get back on track. Have 2, sweet, 10 year old granddaughters coming over for a sleepover over today.

Jan. 20-23 DNW health scare
Jan. 24- 179.8 lbs. fitness class, back on track

Hi everyone. Well done for continuing to show up every day and try! Yay 🙌🏼
Hope there is a February challenge? This group has been really great and keeping me from totally giving up. I love sweet food darn it and well I’m hormonal. Have any of you ladies been through menopause? How do you know if you are going through it?

Starting weight
January 23 ⚖️219.0 lb
Original starting weight 288 January 2008

Multiple joint injuries, 9 major surgeries and here I am starting over. I'm limited what I can do physically, but finding my way through.
Jan 25 ⚖️217.5 lb. Shocked as I expected a gain with increase in exercise. Got my workouts in before canning 54 pts of refried bean starter with my garden partner/bff. All food logged was well.
Jan 26 ⚖️ 216.1 PT today. I graduated! We've done the best we can with what I have left. I'm better now than in the last 10 years. ✍️ Food logged. Stayed within my calorie range. Over on carbs, but working on it5
