Hi everyone! After a BIG lunch out with the kids I truly didn’t feel like running but I decided to give a threshold workout a try and believe it or not, actually was able to hold the split. Right when I started running faster, I was passed by 3 tall sporty young men and I was able to use them to pace me even though they were running a faster than I was. They made it look so easy! Then, after the cool down I decided to do the rest of the run at recovery pace to give my body a bit of rest after such an intense day. I ran a total of 12.3km and got back right as soccer practice was ending. That’s a total of 18.3km for the day- much more than I anticipated when I woke up this morning.
That’s 154.9/200km for February.9 -

I joined a monthly challenge last year and then completely failed..... here for 2nd try.
2023 was an epically bad running year for me. I came into it with a horrible upper respiratory infection that made running impossible and then I continued the downward spiral from there. I ran zero races and completed only 442 miles - the smallest amount of miles I've run since 2011.
2024 is my comeback year. I had a good January completing a daily mileage challenge and coming into February with good momentum. My February goal is to run a total of 85 miles.
2/3 - 3 miles
2/4 - 6 miles
2/6 - 2.55 miles
2/7 - 3.61 miles
2/8 ‐ 3.08 miles
2/10 - 8.02 miles
2/12 - skipped planned run
2/13 - 2.55 miles hill repeats + strength training (at home)
2/14 - strength training w/ personal trainer
2/15 - VERY sore from two days of strength training - skipped planned run
2/16 - 3.5 miles - long interval run
Totally fell off the wagon this week 🙁. I’ve skipped 2 planned runs (going to make one of them up on Sunday). I have not logged or posted or really done anything focused on eating well, staying hydrated and building my endurance. It’s been a stressful week which has resulted in a loss of focus, and loss of discipline and the scale going the wrong way - which proves (again) that planning and logging works. Making it up as I go and relying on myself to make good choices when under stress and time pressures NEVER works. It seems that is a lesson I needed to learn again this week. Ran 3.5 miles today. 10 miles planned for tomorrow. 14 weeks until marathon day.

Sounds like you did great on your run @Laurz9191 . I love that you use your time at soccer practice to get your run in.
@Leigh_b Life gets in the way sometimes. Keeping going, doing what you can, and learning from our mistakes is the key to success. I think you are doing great.
@AlphaHowls You continue to amaze me.2 -
Life certainly makes it hard to stick to a plan sometimes! Good job getting back on track @Leigh_b!5

I ran 3.25 miles this morning. I didn't see any critters today. It was really nice out at 60°F so I was able to wear shorts and a t-shirt. That was the warmest part of the day and it's supposed to be cold this weekend. Hopefully it won't be too cold on Sunday for my long run.

Afternoon all.
Got in 7K/4.36M (at 09"43).
Was on the fence... But forced it! Upto 48 streak now. The concrete legs syndrome seems to come in waves... Definitely feeling heavy again r.n.
Have a nice weekend all.10 -

Right there with you @Leigh_b
I said this was the year of saying no, not doing very well at it so far. Sat in the office now having my lunch break and thinking "Why am I limiting myself to a lunch break, I only get paid Monday-Friday, I can have all the breaks I want!"
Only 9 weeks to my Marathon, long run tomorrow. One foot, then the other, repeat!

I'm glad you had an enjoyable run yesterday @martaindale .
Nice running @kgirlhart . It's supposed to be really cold here in the morning. I hope you have good weather for your long run.
Great job with your run today @tarun_yadavA , esp. since you had to force it.

I'm feeling much better today and slept pretty good last night. I didn't want to overdo though, so decided before I started that I was going to walk 1.5 miles and run 1.5. I felt great afterwards, so glad I limited myself today. The run was 2 min each at 4.2-4.4, 4.0, 4.5-4.7, 4.0, 4.8-4.9 mph. Avg pace was 13:31 min/mile. Avg HR was 131 with a max of 149 bpm.8 -
Jam packed out and about. 10,000 moms with strollers, couples with dogs, runners, etc.
Another week or so I hope I'll start feeling some speed and strength.

- Feb 4 -3.48 miles

I'm here. Just been quite busy and stressed the last few days but we all have that so no excuse. LOL
After having early summer last week we are back to late fall weather but the good news is that it's not as bad as previous Feb fronts so fingers crossed. My Purple Martin scouts arrived (3) on Thursday right on schedule so happy to see them altho this weekend is a little chilly they should be ok and it will warm up to 80 my mid week.
Been struggling the past few days with my older cat who jumped at some dust mites on Thursday evening and hurt one of her back legs. She is pretty much 3 legged altho once she gets past a few steps she is weight bearing and the vet (Fri am) said she did not think it was broken. She's older so we did not do x rays or sedation etc. The problem is that she is just is a lot of pain and I hate how stingy everyone is with drugs. EVEN FOR PETS. Just kills me. Anyway, working to manage it and also constant clean up since she cannot get to a litter box and has a REALLY upset stomach. Let's just say my oxyclean, puppy pads and paper towels are getting a workout. Poor thing.

Kind of last minute camping trip this weekend so I got to run at the state park. This park is pretty large so I can get several miles without running the same parts. I stuck to the roads because it has been rainy so I expect the trails are rough based on the amount of standing water I can see in the woods.
Despite being fully booked, the park is quiet. It got cold this weekend so I think a lot of people no-shows and those with RVs are staying inside more than usual. But, I like the cold and with the right gear, camping in the cold is great!10 -

The weather must have been nice @chris_in_cal . Nice running.
@SummerSkier I'm sorry to hear about your cat. It's hard to see them hurt and can't do anything about it. I hope it isn't too bad and she starts putting more weight on it every day.
Great run @martaindale . Enjoy your impromptu camping trip. It sounds very restful and peaceful.

Today I met a friend and ran 9.48 miles with her. It was 35F with a 10mph wind that made it very chilly. I then waited a couple of hours and ran 6.25 miles. It was 34F then with the same winds. Not exactly the same timing as my race will be, but I got the mileage in nonetheless. Like @martaindale I've been feeling low on energy and have been very busy with work the last few days. Last Saturday morning, I ran 6 miles, came home and promptly fell asleep. I don't know why I was so exhausted there for a few days but I've felt "normal" the past couple of days. Maybe my body was busy fighting off something. I've been reading, liking and hugging as appropriate. Thanks for being here everyone!
@ContraryMaryMary - Congrats on your half marathon last weekend!
@SummerSkier - I hope your kitty is better soon. Poor baby.
