Regarding the "men" who send friend requests ... I don't think they are actually real men . They're bots. Computer generated.
Just keep deleting them.5 -

I got my flashcards for the 200 drugs I have to memorize. It's a scary amount of material! I think I'm going to work on medical terminology for March, and start the course in April. No rush.

Heather-sorry appointment is postponed. I was thinking about your 32 week wait time for surgery. It can take near that here. We aren't on a waiting list-we are following the protocol insurance requires. So you get and x-ray, then you do pt, then you get an MRI, then you try injections, then there is the doctor's schedule. So it can easily take 6 month depending upon area in which you live.
Barbara AHMOD-the Katla message is wonderful. I have not know her as long as many of you but she struck me as so darned sweet. There were days I got on just to check on her status. I think of her every time I eat cottage cheese and blueberries!
Annie-I think working on flash cards is a good idea. It may give you an idea if it clicks for you. Good job on exercise.
Margaret-I admire your persistence in the yogurt making-don't think it is in my future but I won't say never.
Rita-hope rest of your medical week goes well.
Allie-I guess the good news is they are staying on top of things? Getting old is not for the weak!
Doctor's office call today about blood work. Since LDL is 104 they wanted to know if I wanted to start a statin. I politely declined. If they would look at my historical record they would know in 2018 it was 118. In June 2022 it went up to 122. June of 2023 it was 106 and now 104-I think I am good with what I am doing. I hate pills being the answer for everything.
Picked up towels and sheets I need (I have three bath towels, plenty for me but there will be 6 of us). Got a thinner bath mat that will make cat hair clean up easier. Got two sets of twin sheets and one queen set-found them on sale at Meijer's-not what I usually buy but they won't be used frequently. Picked up hypoallergenic detergent and softener (gs eczema). Will start washing stuff tonight to space out chores. Putting some stuff away into the basement tonight. Also need to get trash out. It is all coming together.
Take care all,

Heather - And on the heels of what Ginny said, though it may not be helpful, one of the three nurses I spoke to today was calling to schedule my next colonoscopy. In late September, 28 weeks from now. The only rapid surgeries anymore, it seems, are those where a life is at stake, rather than a quality of life. There's an old Southern idiom, "Don't trouble trouble until trouble troubles you," or better phrased as "Don't go looking for trouble," that might be a mantra for now... just breathe. There's an awful lot that's right in your life.
Speaking of which, the same chickie said the hoops have all been jumped through to get me started on Stelara, now it's a matter of them working with the VA for the initial infusion, then home injections every eight weeks after. No telling how long all that will take. I've had this mess going on five years now, another few weeks is kind of a shrug at this point. Just have to keep the heart and gastro and ortho folks from running into each other now.
All the tests were clear, no TB, not an odd bacteria and no other issues in sight, heck, my HDL was 65 and LDL was 82... just got to get a few things fixed.
Cor's home...
Love y'all,

The same friend requests come up in FB too and from what I read when I googled it, it happens on several other sites as well.
It isn't just a bunch of lonely guys .. although whoever set the program up would like us to think so.
What gave it away was when the bot program started using the same guy (same pictures) with different names and often the names are what you might find in a romance novel. :lol
Yes, hip surgeries are big and expensive and they don't like to straight to a surgery if they can solve the problem another way. So there is a fairly lengthy delay before a person will get one done.
If that is indeed the problem Heather is experiencing, she could go on both cruises this year before she'll see the inside of an operating theatre.

Everyone: I know that you all mean well by telling me to go to France to meet Leo. I WILL NOT be going. I was afraid that when I hugged him in 2013 that that would be the last time I’d ever see Bryan. And I was right. For years I didn’t hear from him until a few months ago. When he was getting married back in 2013, I went over. After not having seen each other for years, he didn’t come to see us. I didn’t see him until right before the ceremony. He never talked to us unless he absolutely had to during the reception. I WILL NOT jeopardize the communication that he has initiated. Bryan is not stupid, if he really wanted to see us he would have told us where. Right now I walk on egg shells whenever I write to him. It’s not a matter of money or time, it’s future communication. As it is right now, I’m happy that I at least get pictures. And I’m not going to put that on the line. It isn’t worth it.
As much as it hurts, I have to give it more time.
We got the new mattress today and the SPCA took the furniture. Looks like Vince didn’t get a receipt for tax purposes. So I went here
Update on the seawall: we got a letter from the association. Looks like the assessment will be more like $22,000. And it has to be paid in full by April 1 so that construction can be started before hurricane season. Vince wants to talk to our insurance company, but I have a feeling that that isn’t covered, just the condo itself. I feel so bad for some of the residents here. I’m sure that’s a big hit for a lot of people. They don’t have $22,000 just lying around. And if a lot of people suddenly put their condo on the market, you know that’s going to push the prices down. Plus, the realtor will be required to inform the buyer of the assessment. So it’ll be that much less of the asking price. I know that we can come up with the money. Not that it’ll be easy, but it will be doable.
M – yes, one of the places we visited when we were in Europe for Bryan’s wedding was France.
Annie – sounds like you have a great plan. Now the execution. The flashcards might look intimidating, BUT YOU CAN DO THIS. Great exercising
Heather – thank you for your understanding about the situation with Bryan. Oh, how I’ve been hurt in the past, you have no idea. But I’ve come to terms with that. At this point, I just won’t risk pushing things
Lanette – LOL those cat memes. Too bad Hercules had never heard of a pill shooter. Maybe it hadn’t been invented yet????? Can’t wait for that teleporter. I’m sure it can go to LaReunion (if that’s where Bryan is living)
margaret – go glad the yogurt came out. Boy, it sure was a long process!
Amy (is that right?) - I feel I have better things to do with my time than answer those male requests for friends. So I just delete them. Same thing if I get a friend request on Facebook. If I don’t know the person, I just delete the request. How I wish I’d gotten a bigger freezer!!! When this one hits the dust, you can be sure I’ll get another one. But it probably won’t meet its maker
barbara – please add to the note to katla how I remember her telling me about the flosser and think of her every time I use one. If you can’t, that’s OK too
Heather – regarding the Practice Nurse “we apologize for any inconvenience” Inconvenience! More like PITA
Rita – while at WalMart tonight I saw a sign that said “UFO crossing” and thought of you
Laid out by the pool today, then went to Beal’s Outlet to get shower curtain hooks that I like (even got one set to take home) and a shower curtain liner. After dinner went to Lowe’s since Vince needed Dap glue for two of the legs for the sofa, then WalMart for cat food, then buy gas. Think I’ll work some more on the tree skirt for Jess after a few
I’ll be in FL for a few more weeks, but it’s just sad to think of having to leave.

who will play mahjong tomorrow5 -
Sue - That sounds like you and the goats will be happy with the move.
Annie - I am moving everyday. My foot is such a pain though. I have about 5 weeks before my practicum.
Heather - I knew a lot of problems in NB were caused by them, I had no idea it was that corrupt though.
There is a mysterious brain disorder happening there and a few years ago the specific area I come from had the highest incidence of cancer per capita in Canada. I’m not sure that is the case now though.
Our healthcare system is in turmoil too. My neighbours mother has been waiting for hip replacement surgery since 2019. She has since developed Alzheimer’s and I don’t even know if she would emotionally be able to handle it now.
So sorry to see your cancellation for tomorrow. This must be so stressful for you not knowing what’s wrong and what can be done when. Thankful John listened.
Lanette - I wonder if they put a heating pad in that fake lap. 😂
Michelle - thanks for the suggestion, the crutches, etc won’t work. Part of the qualifications were that we could lift 50lbs. We may have to help some children with physical limitations.
Rita - I am doing both of those things, it has gotten better since it started in October but I’m so over it. Somedays are much worse than others.
Lisa - Yeah greed and corruption seems to be everywhere. It’s the “common folk” who seem to suffer most because of it.
I have to go for a TB test tomorrow for school.
My grandmother signed her house, car and bank accounts over to my mom and brother in 2005 after having a scare with pneumonia. She didn’t want the government to get anything in the event she had to go into a home. She never did go into one, but she did choose in 2007 to go to a boarding home for senior ladies. It was a local lady that owned it and there were a maximum of three ladies at a time. She helped with baths, meds and prepared meals. Grammie had a private room with her own furniture, she seemed to enjoy it there. She was there until she passed at 95 in 2009. She chose this because she didn’t want any family assisting her in the bath, it was the only thing she needed help with as she had chosen in her early 80’s not to have a hip replacement.
I’ve never really listened to podcasts, I had to last week in class and I have to for homework tonight. I think a podcast by Lanette and Lisa would be fun to listen to. Heather, you mentioned one in your book too, maybe the three of you could get together.
I keep deleting all of the male requests too. So frustrating.
Michele - you know what’s best for you. I hope the emails continue.
We backed out of a condo sale because there was an assessment coming down. I wouldn’t have that kind of money to spend, is the condo board not saving money for these things?
Also, never having lived near a sea wall I would have assumed it was taken care of by the city.
I finished my PowerPoint presentation today. I will go through it tomorrow to make sure my pace is right for my time limit, but the worst is over.
I learned so much about Generalized Anxiety Disorder.
⁃ It is the second most diagnosed mental health disorder behind depression.
⁃ It affects 2x more women than men and is the most diagnosed anxiety disorder in the elderly. They claim that is 55-84 years!
⁃ There is some theories that Omega-3 will help with it.
I chose this topic to try to help my daughter. I hope that after our chat on the weekend we can continue having these conversations.
I also learned that I was definitely struggling with it in my years at the manor. I was being treated for depression.
You ladies all helped me through that and I’ll be forever grateful.
Im off to bed soon.

Beth, like you, I grew up with electric stove top (there’s a story about trying to toast marshmallows on the glowing element that might best go untold). Had both in my twenties and far preferred gas. When we retired to the coast, Ack! No natural gas! I burned everything I tried to cook for five years, then bought a gas stove and had it converted to propane. Happy-ish with the propane, would not recommend Samsung nor Sears warranty. :{
Michele I found Sofrito at Trader Joe’s but it is a dry seasoning mix, a jar of spices. Didn’t know it was also a salsa like-condiment. Alas no Chipotle here. . .

Tracey - Are you still seeing someone about your foot? I know you got some advice from someone. A podiatrist? The only podiatrist I ever saw on the NHS was useless. In my personal experience, the only people who know anything are the sports clinics. Yes, it costs, but it was so worth it to me, and cured my knee. They also dealt with my son's frozen shoulder promptly after years of nonsense.
My friend G had the lump/callous near the toe. It has a name that I've forgotten. The doctor had never heard of it. G found it on Google. She wears some kind of toe separator, I think, very broad supportive shoes, and it is much better, almost gone.
Right now I can't even imagine going on a cruise. I want to be able to cancel and get our money back, unless there is a miraculous improvement. Who knows? Until I get a diagnosis of some kind, I can't cancel on the medical insurance. This cruise cost John £12, 000, because it is a short one and we are in a cheaper suite. The October cruise, for which we have paid a deposit of over £3, 000, also has to be thought about. The full cost of that cruise is £22, 000 for 17 nights in the grand suite. I would rather use my half of that money towards private operations, if i need them. I am using all my life savings. There will be nothing left.
I will call in at the doctors today with my BP chart I have faithfully filled in for a week, (much better on the added med ) and ask again about the X-rays. When i get them done, if it proves not to be osteoarthritis, I will go to the sports clinic , rather than wait more months for physio at the hospital. It's already been months since my referral. G waited nearly a year. At the moment he pain has accelerated to the point that I can barely walk. I am awake at night. When the spasms come on after walking 100 yards, I can't get my legs over a step of four inches. It is agony. I imagine something like that is causing you immense frustration with your foot.
Today is Bea pick up day. I dose myself with painkillers, ibuprofen and paracetamol together, and I am nearly crying with pain after walking less than a mile to her house. I have to sit down to recover every 50 yards. I can hardly get in their front door because I can't lift my legs. I can't take off my shoes.
I want to know what it is, and what I can do about it. Sounds simple doesn't it?
The only person who knows exactly how I'm feeling is my friend L. She had to have two hip replacements and was on Tramadol. She had exactly the same spasms. She was on the waiting list for her second hip and rang the consultant in tears. She cried down the phone to the secretary and told her she was thinking of killing herself. The secretary said, "Oh we can't have this!" and she was called in within the fortnight,. Now she can walk miles with no pain at all.
Sorry for the essay.
Lots of love, and I hope you can get some help for your foot. No one else can know what your pain is like.

My week so far ... work, work, work.
I've done some walking and stair climbing.
Sunday was another very, very windy day. Moved our greenhouse (again), threw a bunch of garden stuff around, broke some small plant pots, and destroyed our patio shelter. Plus a bushfire near our son, daughter-in-law and grand-daughter!

Try changing your name to something gender neutral like Leslie or Ashley and put up a picture of a rose and a motorcycle. I'll be interested to see what the bots send you then!
For a while they had me pegged as male because I got the friend requests aimed toward males.
Now I get the friend requests aimed toward females.
Be sure to delete the requests when they come in, don't friend them, and don't "engage the bots in conversation". They're looking to get information about you.

Good morning ladies!
I have no idea why I got up at four. Once I start my morning routine, Teddy encourages me to finish it. Dogs like routines, especially when it involves food and petting! He is a good boy.
I checked the requirements for my test, and I don't have to memorize all the drug info on my cards. Medical terminology is a rabbit hole too; hard to say what is relevant to the test. So that's a relief.
Heather, I'm so sorry you are in such pain.
Tracey, anxiety is a big part of life. I'm sure it's under diagnosed. I'm pretty sure my mom had it. She was afraid of the dark, had to lock the doors and close the blinds. We still have night lights in every room just in case. ... Hope your foot gets better.
Have a marvelous day everyone!

We do too, but that's mainly to help my husband see to get around at night (like to the toilet). Otherwise he would turn on main lights, which might wake me.
He's not very steady on his feet in the dark, which is the main reason we don't go walking after dark like we used to in the winter.
I even bring a night light or two with us when we travel.

Machka that's beautiful! You are so talented at choosing the colors!
I really need to get some stuff done today. I've been letting my mail slide. My room is a total mess. But it's raining and I already have a headache. And I need to buy groceries today. If I had a job, I would get up and go. I should be able to do it for myself.

Good morning from the passing thunderstorm passing through the River Valley of Arkansas...
Flashy noisy little raincloud brought me straight up out of bed this morning. It's that time of year here. Moisture hits the warm air and generates chaotic weather. It was like this when I lived in Denver, but it was always July and August afternoons for some reason. For now, the smell is that incredible just-rained smell of petrichor, which is an unlovely word for a much-loved scent in the air.
Egg is largely unimpressed, as she doesn't like getting her tootsies wet in the grass when she goes out to go potty. I wouldn't either.
My day stretches out in front of me full of possibilities, but the most likely one right now is yet another visit to the littlest room... it's that morning, which is fine, I've had three or four really good days, so today is the day I pay for it. I'll just stick close to the house today, maybe get a few things done on my inside projects.
Hope it is/was a good day for all,
Love,
