@itladyee i had to scroll back through the posts to see who said it, and I found it! You mentioned your “sweet tooth awakening” when you resist drinking. OMG… you were soooooo right! Yesterday, I had a donut after church which I’ve been easily able to resist in the past. Then, my husband asked me to make brownies last night, and I ate one of those! Then, I sat on the couch suffering through sugar induced hot flashes until 10:00 last night before finally just heading to bed. I also went over my calories by almost 500 calories. 🤦🏻♀️ It was the first time in a week I had gone over my calories, but I absolutely hated logging it.
I don’t normally eat sweets like that because I’ve had a roux-en-Y gastric bypass, and I don’t metabolize sweets well. I get nauseous, lightheaded, and have hot flashes. But, yesterday those sweets were just calling my name with a vengeance.
On a positive note… I didn’t drink. 😁
Back on track today!4 -
Aww, you guys, *snif* thank you so much for the kind words. It really means a lot. I need to learn that giving myself some grace is not the same thing as justifying bad behavior.
On a good note, I moderated well this past weekend, and boy oh boy do I love all the spring flowers!!! They make me so happy.
Hope everyone has a great week. Off to the gym soon! As soon as I have some more coffee….2 -
Happy Monday my LA friends!

Those darn weekends. I can get through the week no problem but then it's like Fri-Sun I make up for it. That is my focus for the next several weeks while still not slipping during the week...I love the way I feel Tues-Fri mornings, just need to remind myself that when I reach for the last glass on Friday nights.
so far 50/50 on over target vs on target - counting today as on target (dry days or within my drink limits) - if I can stick to targets for the next 2 weeks I can still turn those numbers around.3 -
Well, after a lot of abstinence, I had a rather boozy weekend. We threw a Saint Patrick’s Day dinner on Sunday, with Guinness and Jameson. Lots of AF choices, too including the AF Guinness. But, Guinness is only a 4% ABF beer, so it’s not so bad.
Well, I bought all the beer on Saturday, so I had to try some. I didn’t need to sample the leftover whiskey in the cabinet on top of that, but I did, putting me over the 2-drink goal.
I did better Sunday at the party, keeping close to my 2-drink goal. I do like the NA Guinness, which helps! We did a Jameson Irish toast with just a taste of Jameson each. Really fun!
Score for March:

Well guys it happened...the big slip up.
Woke up Saturday morning and had a great work out and healthy breakfast.
Then I had a funeral service to go to. The family member that passed away LOVED fireball aka cinnamon water as he called it lol
I felt it to be rude if I didn’t since the whole family was drinking to him at the restaurant afterwards and putting on the peer pressure. I had three shots and then like always immediately reached for the cigarettes. I smoked four. The food they had wasn’t the healthiest either (burger joint). I ate a limited amount.
Woke up Sunday feeling like a big turd and not happy with myself. This led to only working out by cleaning the house and yard. Ordered a “cheat meal” for dinner last night too.
Time to restart the 30 days. Sigh.

@dmally1 First, I'm so sorry for your loss. I will say that imbibing to honor a loved one's favorite is certainly not the worst thing, I guess unless you're someone who absolutely cannot take a drink anymore for whatever reason.
I'm most sorry that you felt down on yourself. You mourned at the funeral, then celebrated the relative's life at the restaurant. I understand your frustration with what happened, but I hope you can show kindness and understanding to yourself and, as @xbowhunter noted, now you can reset. Hugs to you<3 and tomorrow is a new day.4 -

I’m feeling pretty good, but I think my patience is wearing thin. My husband’s ADHD was off the charts yesterday (very high 🐿️ count), and I was completely irritated with him. For a little context, my husband and daughter both have extreme cases of ADHD and son has Autism. My MIL lives with us, has Type 2 diabetes, is in kidney failure, goes to dialysis 3x a week, refuses to take her health concerns to the doctors asking me for medical advice which I am in no way qualified to give, refuses to eat right even when I cook food she should eat, and in general is a PITA. Out of all that though, my husband was particularly annoying yesterday. Lol
@Jthanmyfitnesspal I don’t know what it is about Fireball either. Just give me a good whiskey, and I’m a happy girl! You’re St. Patty’s weekend didn’t sound like it was over the top. Sounds like you did a good job of keeping it moderate.
@dmally1 Like the others have said… I am sorry for your loss. As for the drinking and smoking after the funeral, I think you should allow yourself to have that Mulligan and just reset.7 -
Happy Tuesday my LA friends!
Will be adding 3 more AF days this week.
I find Mondays the hardest day of the week not to drink. Got through yesterday without a drop...

Had that last glass of wine. Hubby was SUUUUUPER FREAKING ANNOYING yesterday.
Talked to him this morning, and he apologized because he doesn’t even know he’s doing it. But, I’m still irritated by him especially after he woke me up this morning by turning on a light in the bedroom. I was sleeping so good too. 🙁6 -

It’s so hard to care for someone who just will not help themselves. You have your hands full, that’s for sure. Hugs!
Also, my sentiments exactly with what you said to @Jthanmyfitnesspal ans @dmally1.

Two nights in a row I came home to a delicious meal prepared by my DH! Had a glass of wine with each, but nothing excessive. This week, wine is a celebration, not a mind eraser. But I’m still consuming wine every night, regardless of the reason.
I find I’m hungrier now that I’m more consistently working out, and that includes upping my protein.
At any rate, I hope everyone has a great day. I am so inspired by you all, even if there are slip ups and resets!4 -
Hello everyone we made it back!
My mother had a wonderful 90th B/D with family. Including a photography session with all my siblings and our families.
I did not stay AF. I would have a few 'shots' at night in the hotel to help we relax and sleep. I do not like sleeping in hotels. I am not a fan of flying. So by the time we were ready to get on the plane back monday my whole system was a mess. Combined with this medication ...well. Not my best look
But I am home now and back on track. 1/2 glass of white wine last night with dinner then was done.
It will take me a bit to catch up on the posts but so far it looks like everyone is holding themselves accountable and moving forward. Each new day is an opportunity to make yourself awesome.

Checking in after a whirlwind long week - I’ve had so much going on that I have missed many posts and trying to catch up today.
The newer folks are inspiring me with your honest thoughts and your experiences! And, to those who have been here awhile, I’m so happy you are showing us ways LA is working for you.
I know I can do better even with the intense family situation right now. @Womona I always appreciate your perspectives!
The daily wine has helped me to bring it down at night (mind erase)? But have kept it to 1-2 / day including a low alcohol % white wine.
In the past 7 days, exhaustion and worry have got the best of me where the IDGAD took over. Preparing to be AF several nights in a row to ‘detox and reset’ into the weekend. My goal is to get BOT to reach 10 - 12 AF days for the month.

1 month sober today. It is getting easier for sure. We continue to go to bars sometimes, as my husband can easily stop at 1 or 2 so I am not depriving him. The bartenders have stepped up for me, making me the prettiest NA drinks. The other evening, I had one that looked like a sunset. As I have said before on here, I simply cannot moderate. I have tried for decades now. I am finally at peace about this and the more AF days I get in my rear view mirror, the better I feel. This isn't a dress rehearsal and we need to live our best lives and I admire everyone here for trying to do so.16

Hello everyone!!!! And welcome to our new participants on here.
A FULL two weeks MIA. Lots of catching up to do reading 4 pages of posts since I last checked in.
I had been taking some me time, painting, enjoying the sunny warmth on days that provide it, unplugging from the internet. And seriously hunting for a new LESS stressful work environment sumthered with toxic coworkers.
