Hey guys, I'm Charlene. 58yo, married, 6 kids, 9 grandkids, home caregiver for the elderly.

Ufdah. We've eaten out a lot this past week. Meh that's an excuse. We've chosen not to say no to things. Big milestones so no regret; but gotta get back on the plan and that just means cooking more at home.

Yesterday, we went to one of my favorite little 9-hole disc golf courses. It's been awhile since I've played; it was my first game of the season. I didn't do too bad, scored a little above my average. It felt good to play, and we did 22 holes because why not?! ๐Ÿ˜‚ I broke a nail and it'll take months to grow that back out, boo hisss. But that's a risk I take and I'm not willing to cut them, so it is what it is. 13u632eoszg2.jpg

Well the last 4 days I had all my calories before 3pm. Trying to change that today and back to my spaced food instead of one big meal. Havenโ€™t walked/ worked out since last Wednesday so hopping back to it today, dreading it but if I want to keep progress rolling I know I need to. Itโ€™s not so much of a give up and eat everything thing but more of a no desire to exercise.

Today I want to go outside and get yard stuff done before it rains this afternoonโ€ฆ this is my self- pep talk to get my tush off the couch and put my hands in the dirt.

Sometimes the first step is the hardest, but once I get moving, then all is good!

Gettin up and putting on my pink sneakers! Letโ€™s do this!

    Have a great day!

5/06: 111.8 Things are going fairly well. I've started researching adding more protein into my diet as I get closer to my goal. I've always struggled finding protein-rich foods I like enough to eat every day, but I've already been hitting around 50 grams with the changes I've made so far. I think 80 grams is recommended so I'll have to play around and see where I can sneak in some more!

@KountryKat I would love to know some of the protein ideas and changed you have made and some of the ideas you come up with to increase the protein. My doctor told me I need about 81g and that has been a challenge. Any ideas you can share would be great! Keep us posted!

My name is Donna. I am 5โ€™ 5โ€ tall, 63 years old and from Michigan USA. In 2016 I weighed 253 lbs. I am on a journey of health and to get back to the real me.

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

This Challenge Starting Weight (from April 30th): 185.6

**********************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME********************

Weight in blue makes me blue because itโ€™s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itโ€™s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

05/06-185.2-(Trend Weight 183.4)- May is not looking any better so far than April did. Ugh! I think the graduation party food and travel is creeping up on me. I was slightly over on carbs yesterday but my calories stayed about 1200. Yet I feel more pudgy today. Sticking to plan and trying to add a little more movement and fitness in today to hopefully budge the scale.

05/07-185.2-(Trend Weight 183.8)- I donโ€™t know why the scale is stalled, yesterday was a good day. Diet on point and I fit in a little more exercise/activity than usual. Weโ€™ll see in the coming days if itโ€™s being stubborn and holding tantrums or if Iโ€™ve actually hit a plateau. Yesterday I held my head in shame and changed my ticker back to my current weight (increase) and I changed my colorful scratch off back to reflect that I have NOT left the 180's behind. I was disgusted to have to do that but I do need to stand in my truth and if I don't like it, I need to do something about it! Thanks to everyone for the compliment on the pictures I posted. As you can see, I hold most of my weight through my middle. I started this journey looking honestly about 8 ยฝ months pregnant and now I am down to about 5 months pregnant. I wish we could tell our bodies exactly where to lose our weight but it doesnโ€™t work that way, sadly. So I will keep plugging away at this proverbial diabetic belly and keep in mind that it is overall fitness and strength I am after anyway and with that, the weight will work itself out. Anyway, thanks for all the compliments on my family. I think my kids are pretty great too!

Hello I'm Darlene. Retired, 63-year-old. Married (Greg), one adult daughter (Allyson), and one goldendoodle (Monty). I have been on this weight loss journey since January 2023. Back for another month with these wonderful people.

    My goals for May:

โš–๏ธ Lose 2% of my body weight my 4 pounds per month is getting really difficult now that I almost to my goal weight - but still am going to try to get that 4 pounds! Get into the 140s!
    ๐Ÿ‘ฃ Average 17k Steps
    ๐Ÿ“ Log Daily
๐Ÿฅ— Stay under my calorie range
๐Ÿ’ช Strength Train 3 days per week
๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ Stretching routine - 3 days per week
๐Ÿซ€ Aerobics 3 days per week
    ๐Ÿ’ฆ 6+ glasses of water
    ๐Ÿง‚Stay under sodium goal
๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ or ME! Read, play a game or Me time daily

    ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ or ME!

Each Month I write a reflection on how the month went. Here's My April Reflection if anyone wants to read:

    April 2024 Reflection

April was basically a frustrating weight loss month; lost 1.2 pounds. Didnโ€™t reach my stretch or regular weight loss goal. At least it wasnโ€™t a gain. Started off the month with indulging on Easter, then took an overnight trip to see the Eclipse and was also off plan. Then mid-month realized I had a problem with my bathroom scale โ€“ apparently, I have been underestimating my weight for a while โ€“ new scale new weight and it wasnโ€™t pretty. Worked hard the last couple weeks, and at least I got down to below my starting weight โ€“ which who knows if that was correct. For May โ€“ my goal is to get into the 140s come hell or high water.

I have been successful with the exercise, averaging well over my 17K goal, and tracked a little over 250 miles again in April; year to date a little over 1,000; almost have way there. I am also on track for intentional miles with a little over 750 miles to date.

I have been keeping on plan with my cardio and strength routines. I alternate one day of cardio and then one day of strength. Although I do not like them much, I add one stretch type routine weekly. I have been having some trouble with some pain in my knees โ€“ so found a stretching knee exercise that I began adding daily at the end of the month. I have an appointment with the Doctor May 1 to see what she says. Hopefully, I can continue to walk and wonโ€™t have to take a break.

I started re-reading the first book of the Harry Potter series, along with my Hogwarts Challenge. I finished โ€œThe Masked Cityโ€ and am on the third book of the Invisible Library Series โ€“ โ€œThe Burning Pageโ€.
The next round of The Biggest Loser starts May 1. We have a full team, and I spent a lot of time in-between rounds getting ready. Looking forward to the start. The Hogwarts Challenge started; always a fun one. I rejoined Fat2Fit - I can do it.
    • My May Goals:
    • Get into the 140 range!
    • Log 150 intentional miles; and 250 in overall miles
    • Alternate days of Cardio and Strength Training
    • Stretch 3 days per week
    • Average 17K steps per day
    • Read almost every day

Here is my before and after picture for April. Not much different than last month but found a new before picture and took an after at the same spot.

May 2: 150.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚ ๐ŸŽฎ ME! A nice swish - hope it stays off. Still working towards that old scale number (had to replace the old scale mid-April and the new scale was ugly and not nice). As much as I hate to say it, the new scale was right. Went to the doctor yesterday and the numbers matched to the decimal. Nice day yesterday - moved bingo night with the family to Wednesday this week. Noone won, but it is always fun.
May 3: 152.2 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅ— ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ I should keep my mouth quiet when I have big downside - it always bites me in the butt. Busy day yesterday. Got our morning walk done, then worked in the garden most of the day. Spread the rest of the soil and turned it in. Got the carrots, potatoes, and parsnips planted. Cleaned up the screened porch which was filled with garden stuff. Exhausted, so of course binged a little - but with all the exercise today came just under my calorie limit - with binging of course went over the sodium limit.
May 4: 151.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚ ๐ŸŽฎ Another busy day in the garden, also busy with a relay race in another challenge that I am in - kept me busy all day.
May 5: 151.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐ŸŽฎ What I expected (or a gain). Relay race for the Hogwarts challenge and the garden (finished) kept me so busy yesterday when dinnertime came I said I'm too exhausted to cook - we got subway, which has so much sodium, then I had pretzels, and cookies - ate all my exercise calories. Had two calories left for the day! I did take a beautiful walk in the morning yesterday along the Connecticut River and got this shot with the sun reflecting in the water - and they put the docks in, guess that means it's time to get the boat ready!
    dnwifrcwamy1.jpg
May 6: 150.2 ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿ’ฆ ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! First smile in a while! I don't give them until I am under my last recorded low weight. Finally got under the old scale weight. Rested a little yesterday, didn't reach my step goal - but way over my 17K average goal. Tonight is bingo night with Mom- going to resist the junk!

May 7: 151 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! Nice night with mom, noone won. I'm up on the scale - but was under my calorie limit and sodium limit - so thinking just normal flucuations.
May 8: 150.6 ๐Ÿ‘ฃ ๐Ÿ“ ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿ’ช ๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿซ€๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿง‚๐Ÿ“– ๐ŸŽฎ ME! Nce day yesterday - super warm. Hubby had a PT appointment so got some me time while he was gone. Monty and I snuggled on the couch and watched MY tv shows. I usually watch them on the treadmill. It was nice. The scale is kind of being stubborn - showed me a little dance on Monday - but it was just a tease. We got the boat uncovered. We were going to wash it today- but got a call from Allyson this morning - she's having trouble with her AC unit - so going over for a Daddy-Do to see what we can do to fix it (or replace).

@deepwoodslady I know that you have been disappointed lately - and I get it. But please don't let it de-rail you. Persistence and slow and steady - you WILL get there. I hear you with the wish you could tell your body where to lose - mine is all in my legs. I lost a lot in my bust - and I was flat chested to begin with!

Now that our anniversary celebration is over, we are starting the process of downsizing. We have a great big house where the kids grew up, and while we love this house, it is too big for just the two of us. One of our sons wants to buy it, and so we are going to move into a double wide trailer. Yesterday, we went through each of the rooms and made a list of what we are going to take with us, what needs to go into a storage unit, and what needs to go to Goodwill or the dump. It was productive and we now have a room by room plan.

    Goal: 181.6 (Four lb Loss)
    Actual Ending Weight: xxxxx
    Total Lost/Gained this month: xxxxx

**********************ONE DAY, ONE STEP, ONE DECISION AT A TIME********************

Weight in blue makes me blue because itโ€™s a gain. Weight in fuchsia pink makes me feel cheery because itโ€™s a loss. Weight in black means no change.

05/08-184.8-(Trend Weight 184.4)- I got into my 6 year old grandsons snacks last night AFTER closing out MFP. Normally the little fruit snack gummy style packets donโ€™t even tempt me as I am a chocolate fanatic and also crave cakes and donuts (especially). However, these sugar cravings have been horrid. Gosh, I really thought I loved my grandson more than I loved gummies!
