@chris_in_cal The streak is building! Keep it up.
@kgirlhart Can't wait to hear about PK. I think you're going to have a great time. Hopefully the weather is good.
@ContraryMaryMary Beautiful! My husband is tentatively planning a trip for the family to go see Northern lights next year. One of those bucket list trips.
@quilteryoyo Driveability is the main reason I went camper van over a trailer. Though my kid comes camping sometimes, I am frequently alone and they will be graduating and out of the house in 3 short years. My husband isn't interested and setting up, backing, and reconnecting a trailer alone is such a pain! The van is so simple!7 -
May total: 9.8 miles
YTD: 344.8/1200 miles
5/7: 2 miles
5/8: 1.9 miles
5/9: 2.4 miles
5/11: 3.5 miles
I did 3 min run/1 min walk x 10 for this one. It was cooler this morning, upper 60s. Still humid, but 10 degrees cooler is 10 degrees cooler! It went totally fine. Avg pace 11:38.
I'm going to have to ramp it up big time this week. The HM is in 2 weeks and I need some longer runs under my belt. I think if I can get a couple of 1.5 hours-ish runs in, that will be enough to remind my body what it needs to do and give me the mental boost to feel like I can do it.
This week, increase to 4/1 and increase the time. Luckily I have some later shifts so I'll be able to get runs done before work.7 -

UpdateI decided the nursing home/rehab was overwhelmingly detrimental to my mother's health and brought her home on Friday. We are adjusting to peace and quiet, she did sleep well last night. She is not able to care for herself, but with assistance can do some personal care. She has to be assisted with moving/walking, very unsteady/weak. She is confused about details, date/time passage.
I am sleeping on the floor next to her, but going to try baby monitor at night so I can get in my bed. I have had two nights of severe leg cramps (thighs and calves).9 -

@AlphaHowls That sounds really tough! I hope it works out that you can sleep in your bed, or at least on a mattress and that your mother can recover better at home!
@kgirlhart You are so ready for your race! I hope you have a really nice time!
My 4 year old taught himself how to ride a bike yesterday on our driveway when all of us were busy doing other things and was so proud and wanted to go out for some real practice today, which I used to get some running in! I managed to get 8.2km in doing neighbourhood loops accompanied in various constellations of kids/vehicles. It was fun and we all got out of the house!
59.4/160km for May.

May total: 12.1 miles
YTD: 347.1/1200 miles
5/7: 2 miles
5/8: 1.9 miles
5/9: 2.4 miles
5/11: 3.5 miles
5/12: 2.3 miles
Quick treadmill run today. We got home from the camping trip, got everything unloaded and cleaned. We are going out with my in-laws for an early dinner for mother's Day so squeezed in a run before showering and doing a little meal prep for the coming week.
I did a workout that was 4 min run, 1 min walk x 5. It was easy. I think 4/1 shouldn't be a challenge to expand out for longer runs. We'll find out this week!7 -
Thanks everyone for your good thoughts for Tippy. She is feeling much better. I'm thinking maybe some minor tummy issues and weather bothering her arthritis.
Great job with the streak @chris_in_cal .
Great running @kgirlhart . Sounds like you need a taper week before your trail race anyway. (Looks like you got in a nice long run after all.) Hope you don't get storms. You are going to do great next weekend.
Great park run @ContraryMaryMary . I don't think I ever run fast enough to worry about the wind chill from my speed. Great picture of the Northern Lights. They were visible here in TN, but I missed them. Saw lots of great pictures from neighbor's though.
Great running @tarun_yadavA . Hope you enjoyed your night out. Yeah for your son making 5K today! That is weird that Mother's Day isn't the same day, but Father's Day is.
@Laurz9191 You did great to muscle through your run when you weren't feeling well. Good choice to sign up for the race with your kids. You don't have to try to PR is you don't feel ready. Just enjoy it. Congrats to your 4 year old! Sounds like a fun, active day.
@martaindale I'm glad you are enjoying the camper van. I need to find somewhere that rents them so I can see how I like it and if I get the bug. They're too expensive here to buy not knowing. You're doing great with the run/walks. I hope you can get in some longer runs to give you the confidence that you can do the HM.
@AlphaHowls Hugs to you and your mom. I hope the baby monitor works so you can get some rest.

My favorite picture of Mya.
Me, mom, Mya, and Maislee.
Mom and baby Magnolia.
Today, I have felt much better. I did my normal walk between church and lunch.6 -

@AlphaHowls - Take care of yourself x7 -
Morning all
Got in 5 Miles (at 10"38).
@AlphaHowls so sorry to hear about your mother and your situation 😔 thoughts and prayers 🙏🏽
@quilteryoyo adorable 😍 love the photos!
How's Tippy now?
@Laurz9191 way to go your youngest! That's amazing!
When he gets a Nobel prize or elected to the Bundestag - you, absent parent, sure ain't getting a mention! Haha
@chris_in_cal keep going champ! 💪🏽5 -
@tarun_yadavA You’re funny ! The absent parents still get to teach him about using brakes . So there is that.
Today I went out on my first non-race long run in over a month. It was a bit of a mental challenge but really nice to be out. It’s a gorgeous day here. I ran 14.1km.
73.5/160km for May.6 -
Over a third of the month gone already! Everything still on plan bar the swimming.
Did a trail half on Saturday in 24c/75f though only 200m of climb. A glorious day though I definitely didn't want to run further than that.
Still have everything crossed for your Mum @AlphaHowls
I hope you and Tippy are feeling better @quilteryoyo
A fantastic milestone for your 4 year old @Laurz9191
Your half is looking good now @martaindale
So many good runs / walks by all. Let's keep it going and hit our goals.7 -
So excited!
14 days post op for Mom. We were practicing putting a foot on stairs, and she pulled herself up one step!
Never take the ability to 'move' for granted. Crawl, walk, run, wiggle, just move.
Clouds building as more rain will arrive tonight
3.53 miles this morning
Sunset last night

You promoted me to think about it. Last year I ran a local "Independence Day" 5K, so I've just signed up for this year's version. I'll strive to keep the streak going until July 4th.8 -

Only my calves remain sore from this weekend’s hiking adventures. I managed to run 3 miles this morning after my strength workout. Hiking report in the spoiler below.
@quilteryoyo – Adorable great-niece! Was the picture taken at Tusculum? All of them are beautiful! Glad Tippy is doing better.
Yay for that update @AlphaHowls! Continued thoughts and prayers for you and your mom.
What a beautiful area for a trail run @TheMrWobbly.We headed out at 5:30 am on Friday morning for our 3 hour drive to Georgia. Parked the car at a hostel and got a shuttle driver to take us to our starting point. He was running late so it was about 9:30 am before we got on the trail. We hiked north bound (NOBO). The weather was gorgeous. Sunny but breezy with a temp around 60F at the start.
Following the white blaze! The rectangular patch of white on the trees marks the path of the Appalachian Trail. If you don't see one for a while, it's best to check your map to see if you've gotten off trail.
We saw lots and lots of wildflowers. Pink lady slippers, milkweed, rattlesnake weed, violets, buttercups, false Solomon, spiderwort, and lots of trillium (shown in this picture).
We got to camp around 5:45 pm. We hiked 13 miles with 4,356 feet of elevation gain. Of course, the last mountain we climbed was the steepest and longest! There were about a dozen other section hikers and thru-hikers staying at camp on Friday night. Like @Laurz9191 we didn’t get the Northern Lights memo either and were in our tents before hiker midnight (8:00 pm).
We starting breaking down camp at 5:30 on Saturday morning and caught this beautiful sunrise. We hiked 4 miles to our car where we met our shuttle drive again and he shuttled us about an hour north so that when we finished the day we would be back at our car and ready to travel home.
Ready to start the second leg of day 2 (photo courtesy of shuttle driver).
Me hanging out in the tree at the NC/GA border. With this trip we finished up all of the AT that is located in Georgia. Saturday weather was a repeat of Friday - beautiful. We ended the day around 5:00 pm with 20.3 miles and after a little stretch, got in our car and headed home.6 -
You're doing great @chris_in_cal . Sometimes it is easier to run in the morning, because then it is over and done. But, I don't know what your schedule is.....and, if you haven't noticed, I am NOT a morning person. But, I do like it if I'm not working and get the run in before lunch. Yes..starting a streak is much easier than deciding when to stop one. LOL July the 4th race sounds like a great day to aim for.
Thanks @Mari33a . Great running.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA .
Great HM @TheMrWobbly . Beautiful scenery.
Great running and glad your mom is making some progress @AlphaHowls !
Nice run @Teresa502 . Yes, the recital was at Tusculum. It's such a pretty little campus. Great hiking report and pictures! I haven't seen Ladies Slippers in a long time. I really need to do some wildflower hikes.
Thanks everyone for asking about Tippy. She seems to be back to normal today. AND, today is her estimated birthday - 11 years old.5 -

I had gotten up early this morning with every intent of going to the gym. But, I didn't sleep good at all last night and I had a low grade temperature again, so after breakfast I laid on the couch and wound up sleeping for about 1.5 hours. Since I have been having a temp on and off since Thurs morning, I gave up and went to urgent care. Turns out I have a UTI. He said that I had most of the classic symptoms: fever, no energy, lower back pain. (But no trouble peeing, so I was surprised that is what it is.) So, have more anti-biotics to take.
I'm trying to get stuff done before the tennis tournament and trip, so felt I really had to mow the part of my lawn that is near the road. So, after I got home, I did that. (It's supposed to rain later in the week, so if it was going to get done, it had to be today.)
After resting about 45 min, I went out and walked 1 mile on the driveway. I stayed on the flat part, so that I didn't have to deal with the hills. LOL
I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day.8 -
Neighborhood 1Mile (at 14"11 ). Day 13. Today was right before dinner, light and warm. I'm thinking I need to just keep slow and consistent for another couple of weeks.7
