Morning all
Got in 5 Miles (at 10"38).
@AlphaHowls so sorry to hear about your mother and your situation 😔 thoughts and prayers 🙏🏽
@quilteryoyo adorable 😍 love the photos!
How's Tippy now?
@Laurz9191 way to go your youngest! That's amazing!
When he gets a Nobel prize or elected to the Bundestag - you, absent parent, sure ain't getting a mention! Haha
@chris_in_cal keep going champ! 💪🏽5 -
@tarun_yadavA You’re funny ! The absent parents still get to teach him about using brakes . So there is that.
Today I went out on my first non-race long run in over a month. It was a bit of a mental challenge but really nice to be out. It’s a gorgeous day here. I ran 14.1km.
73.5/160km for May.6 -
Over a third of the month gone already! Everything still on plan bar the swimming.
Did a trail half on Saturday in 24c/75f though only 200m of climb. A glorious day though I definitely didn't want to run further than that.
Still have everything crossed for your Mum @AlphaHowls
I hope you and Tippy are feeling better @quilteryoyo
A fantastic milestone for your 4 year old @Laurz9191
Your half is looking good now @martaindale
So many good runs / walks by all. Let's keep it going and hit our goals.7 -
So excited!
14 days post op for Mom. We were practicing putting a foot on stairs, and she pulled herself up one step!
Never take the ability to 'move' for granted. Crawl, walk, run, wiggle, just move.
Clouds building as more rain will arrive tonight
3.53 miles this morning
Sunset last night

You promoted me to think about it. Last year I ran a local "Independence Day" 5K, so I've just signed up for this year's version. I'll strive to keep the streak going until July 4th.8 -

Only my calves remain sore from this weekend’s hiking adventures. I managed to run 3 miles this morning after my strength workout. Hiking report in the spoiler below.
@quilteryoyo – Adorable great-niece! Was the picture taken at Tusculum? All of them are beautiful! Glad Tippy is doing better.
Yay for that update @AlphaHowls! Continued thoughts and prayers for you and your mom.
What a beautiful area for a trail run @TheMrWobbly.We headed out at 5:30 am on Friday morning for our 3 hour drive to Georgia. Parked the car at a hostel and got a shuttle driver to take us to our starting point. He was running late so it was about 9:30 am before we got on the trail. We hiked north bound (NOBO). The weather was gorgeous. Sunny but breezy with a temp around 60F at the start.
Following the white blaze! The rectangular patch of white on the trees marks the path of the Appalachian Trail. If you don't see one for a while, it's best to check your map to see if you've gotten off trail.
We saw lots and lots of wildflowers. Pink lady slippers, milkweed, rattlesnake weed, violets, buttercups, false Solomon, spiderwort, and lots of trillium (shown in this picture).
We got to camp around 5:45 pm. We hiked 13 miles with 4,356 feet of elevation gain. Of course, the last mountain we climbed was the steepest and longest! There were about a dozen other section hikers and thru-hikers staying at camp on Friday night. Like @Laurz9191 we didn’t get the Northern Lights memo either and were in our tents before hiker midnight (8:00 pm).
We starting breaking down camp at 5:30 on Saturday morning and caught this beautiful sunrise. We hiked 4 miles to our car where we met our shuttle drive again and he shuttled us about an hour north so that when we finished the day we would be back at our car and ready to travel home.
Ready to start the second leg of day 2 (photo courtesy of shuttle driver).
Me hanging out in the tree at the NC/GA border. With this trip we finished up all of the AT that is located in Georgia. Saturday weather was a repeat of Friday - beautiful. We ended the day around 5:00 pm with 20.3 miles and after a little stretch, got in our car and headed home.6 -
You're doing great @chris_in_cal . Sometimes it is easier to run in the morning, because then it is over and done. But, I don't know what your schedule is.....and, if you haven't noticed, I am NOT a morning person. But, I do like it if I'm not working and get the run in before lunch. Yes..starting a streak is much easier than deciding when to stop one. LOL July the 4th race sounds like a great day to aim for.
Thanks @Mari33a . Great running.
Nice running @tarun_yadavA .
Great HM @TheMrWobbly . Beautiful scenery.
Great running and glad your mom is making some progress @AlphaHowls !
Nice run @Teresa502 . Yes, the recital was at Tusculum. It's such a pretty little campus. Great hiking report and pictures! I haven't seen Ladies Slippers in a long time. I really need to do some wildflower hikes.
Thanks everyone for asking about Tippy. She seems to be back to normal today. AND, today is her estimated birthday - 11 years old.5 -

I had gotten up early this morning with every intent of going to the gym. But, I didn't sleep good at all last night and I had a low grade temperature again, so after breakfast I laid on the couch and wound up sleeping for about 1.5 hours. Since I have been having a temp on and off since Thurs morning, I gave up and went to urgent care. Turns out I have a UTI. He said that I had most of the classic symptoms: fever, no energy, lower back pain. (But no trouble peeing, so I was surprised that is what it is.) So, have more anti-biotics to take.
I'm trying to get stuff done before the tennis tournament and trip, so felt I really had to mow the part of my lawn that is near the road. So, after I got home, I did that. (It's supposed to rain later in the week, so if it was going to get done, it had to be today.)
After resting about 45 min, I went out and walked 1 mile on the driveway. I stayed on the flat part, so that I didn't have to deal with the hills. LOL
I'm hoping tomorrow will be a better day.8 -
Neighborhood 1Mile (at 14"11 ). Day 13. Today was right before dinner, light and warm. I'm thinking I need to just keep slow and consistent for another couple of weeks.7

Hi everyone!
@quilteryoyo I hope you get your energy back soon!
@chris_in_cal Way to go! Over 2 weeks now!
@Teresa502 I really enjoyed reading about your Georgia hiking adventures! You may have missed the lights, but you did capture a beautiful sunrise/sunset. Congratulations on completing Georgia.
The weather here was just beautiful this morning. Sunshine but not yet hot, birds chirping, river running (yes, I forgot my headphones again!). I t was easy sitting in the office after being out on such a nice day. I wanted to keep it nice and easy so I can hopefully do some speed work tomorrow. I ran 7.4km.
80.8/160km for the month- right on target .

You're doing great @chris_in_cal .
Nice running @tarun_yadavA . Sorry you're struggling at the moment. Hope you get your mojo back soon.
Thanks @Teresa502 . Nice run.
Thanks @Laurz9191 . Great early morning run!
Thanks all. I am feeling much better today, but going to try to not over-do today as I'm supposed to play tennis tonight, to practice for the weekend, if the rain doesn't spoil our plans.3 -
@teresa502 I love Reading about your hiking trips! Y'all cover a lot of mileage each day.
I'm happy to hear that your mom is recovering and starting to get some mobility back. Fingers crossed for continued improvement. @AlphaHowls

May total: 18.6 miles
YTD: 353.6/1200 miles
5/7: 2 miles
5/8: 1.9 miles
5/9: 2.4 miles
5/11: 3.5 miles
5/12: 2.3 miles
5/14: 6.5 miles
I did 4-minute run/ 1 minute walk intervals x 15 today. That makes this almost double the time and distance of the longest run I've done since getting sick. It was a bit of a challenge just because of the intense humidity, but my chest is feeling better. My legs feel fine. I feel like this is more or less what a run this time of year would normally feel like.
I could probably transition into non-stop running but I'm going to stick with intervals for now. I won't be able to come close to the type of mileage I would typically do leading up to a HM so I think come race day I'm going to need the walk intervals.
At a minimum using the intervals will keep the race a more enjoyable experience. For me, that's the whole point of these travel races. Rarely are they attached to any set time. They are more about the experience.

I'm glad that the run/walk intervals is working out for you @martaindale .

22.00/50.00 mile goal
I am feeling much better today. I was able to get the rest of my yard mowed, weed eat, and stuff blown off the porches and driveway. After a short rest, I did a 2 mile walk on the treadmill. I had tennis scheduled for tonight. I went, but it started raining after about 35 min. We had hoped for a good practice for the tournament this weekend. Oh well, I don't think it would really make any difference. LOL

I haven't had a chance to post for a couple of days. I took Sunday as a rest day, but I ran yesterday and today. Yesterday it was cool at 66° F. I ran 6 miles. It was a really good run until I was less than half a block from home and I stepped wrong and fell. I wasn't hurt. My watch fall detection didn't even go off. But it made me nervous about getting injured before the race Saturday.
Today it was even cooler at 59° F. I ran 4 miles today and just tried to take it easy. It was a nice run. I know the cool temperatures won't last long so I will enjoy them while I can.
I have had a bit of a crick in my neck. It has been bothering me a bit since Sunday and seemed worse today. It was fine while I was running. I think it is mostly stress from work. Hopefully it will be better by Saturday.

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 14"16 ). Day 14. I'm now enjoying my little neighborhood loop.9

Hi everyone!
It was again a lovely morning here. A bit windy but otherwise sunny and not yet hot. Starting tomorrow things are supposed to get unpleasant again with storms and the like. I did a workout with some strides in the middle. And, I finally had my headphones again today. I ran 11.6km.
92.6/160km for May.6 -
May total: 25.1 miles
YTD: 360.1/1200 miles
5/7: 2 miles
5/8: 1.9 miles
5/9: 2.4 miles
5/11: 3.5 miles
5/12: 2.3 miles
5/14: 6.5 miles
5/15: 6.5 miles
I did the same 4/1 run/walk intervals today and the exact same route. The humidity was a bit lower, no fog, and a few degrees cooler. We're at the point in the year where I really appreciate every cooler degree. The run went well. My quads were actually a little sore this morning after the relatively long run yesterday, but it worked itself out.
My watch told me I was overreaching. I guess 2 runs over an hour on back-to-back days is a big change from what I've been doing for the last several weeks. I'll have a rest day tomorrow and probably the day after that so it should be happy with me again by the weekend.7 -
Officially half-way through the month here in the UK. The sun is shining! Everything on plan still, apart from the swimming still. Zero yards of swimming so far. The target I am short on is that I am still officially obese. 4.4kg short of just being overweight so I will have to move that target to June, or grow an extra inch!
My BH has joined the healthier eating and exercise plan so we cleared out the 'gym' which had become a storage room again.
How is the plan going @katrose1985 ?
That looks a fantastic hike @Laurz9191
If anyone is still in touch with @Scott6255 it would be great to have posts about his weights routine and give us a few tips.
Good look on your race this weekend @kgirlhart
I sent you a friend request @chris_in_cal cal so we can stalk each others food diaries.
If the weather is right I will try the back end of the South Downs 50k route on Saturday @eleanorhawkins – that’s a big if!

Our weather is quite good & warm at the moment and I had a lovely run this evening. All the wildlife were out. At the moment the are hares, 2 pheasants, a cuckoo & a corncrake close by. I don’t take my phone so I have no photos but their sounds is class.
@martaindale I wish my Garmin would tell me I was over reaching. All I get is Base, Maintaining and every now and then Tempo and this is me doing all I can😅8 -

I ran 3.5 miles today. I have been trying to take it easy this week leading up to Saturday's race. It was a good run. The weather was perfect. I did have to stop once and take off my shoe because there was an ant biting me. But other than that it was a good run. My neck is still annoying me a bit, but not while running. I think it is work stress. I really need a vacation.
