When I want something stretchy, I'll go with these in XXXL. Why so big? I also have a large rib cage (or wide back) and when you look at the bra on the rack, even the XXXL looks tiny.

When I want to look good in something, I'll wear my Playtex Women's Flex Fit Contour Bras which I discovered fit me best when I was professionally fitted.

I did over 250 words this morning! Go me!
I'm going to make pesto this afternoon. John managed to find a packet of pine nuts, but a lot of local shops don't stock them. I will toast the majority off a bit and use those for the sauce, and keep a few back to toast a bit more for decoration and contrast texture. Having it with wholegrain pasta and jumbo prawns, chopped tomato. Sprouting broccoli for a veg.
Yummo! Friday night is wine night.
My phone appointment is any time on from 3.30. Wondering what they will ask. My in-person is on Monday morning.

Got a bit more work done on my uni course today!
And it rained ... these days, that's a very good thing.
I didn't nap today at lunch, instead I did a little bit of planting in the garden during a brief non-rainy time. I just want to fill up the drystream area with plants before we go so I've been picking plants from other parts of our garden that spread rapidly and putting them into blank areas.
The neighbour came back from the hospital or wherever they took him. And then a bit later, he was visited by quite a crowd of people including a couple police officers. They were there a while. But all is quiet at the moment. Apparently, over the past few months, he's been threatening other neighbours by driving at them and their vehicles, and then stopping at the last second. Nice guy!

Good morning, my chickens, from the swampy feeling early morning of the Arkansas River Valley... where it's 95% humidity!
The air feels almost heavy laden with water, like when you take a deep breath at the ocean shoreline🌊. You just get the green and growing smells 🌳🌿☘️🪻🌷instead of saltwater, seaweed and sand⛱️. But the rain has moved on, more than 25 miles past us now, and hopefully a dry-ish morning to come once the sun is fully up.
And speaking of being wet, have to be in the shower within the hour so I can head into town to get my second infusion done at 9 a.m. At least I know where to go this time, as it's my second. It's a big hospital complex, and figuring out where things are is always interesting. Next week will be my hopefully final exam for my VA rate change application. As it's my second one of those, I'll be able to go straight there, as well, no searching for the right place.
Machka - Hope the neighbor has settled down long enough for y'all to finish moving out with no incidents. I stuck my neck out a bit with my new neighbors yesterday and asked them to please lay off burning plastic. Neighbor stuff:This was, of course, after saying how much I really appreciated them cleaning the place up, and how much better it looks than it has than the whole six years we've been here... Both of which are absolutely true! They're doing an enormous amount to change the look of the place. But it was the young neighbor man's dad, actually, and he made some excuse about how they're only burning the wood, but "whoops," an old shoe got in the fire somehow.
I knew better - there were piles of old trash around the place, and believe me, none of it was wood. But they're burning almost daily, and burning some seriously reeky stuff, and it means I have to keep my windows tight shut just to keep from getting nauseated. And no, there are no laws or regulations about it here in the country--but being polite to your neighbors IS still a thing.
Hopefully they'll give it a break. We only burn paper and wood, leaves and brush very deliberately, and put any kind of trash, glass, plastic or metal in the garbage to be hauled away (no recycling available). We don't like the smell of burning plastic and household waste, and no one else does, either. If they don't, they don't, but I felt it was worth saying something.
Tracey - Love the little nativity, seems like a great fit for Michaela.
Terri - Always frustrating when electronics don't work right. They're so far past the ability of any ordinary person to fix them anymore... Saw a question on a local FB page if there was a local appliance repair person to fix a Samsung fridge, and the first response was that it probably wasn't worth repairing it, cheaper to buy a new one, as it would require a specialist.
Barbara AHMOD - I still find it funny that Corey genuinely does not understand how good looking he was in that picture, or how good looking he is now. Told him it's part of his charm.
Need to get a little breakfast in me--we had breakfast for dinner last night, Corey made me a one-egg mushroom omelet that was soooo good. He sautés the mushrooms in a little olive oil, butter and white wine. 🍄 The smell alone just makes me swoony. Since it's just me this morning, probably just some toast! 😄👀
Later,
Love,

On exercise and prediabetes ...
Effects of aerobic exercises in prediabetes patients: a systematic review and meta-analysis
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37522127/
Conclusion: In summary, engaging in aerobic exercise can have a significant positive impact on glycemic levels in individuals with prediabetes. It can also lead to reductions in BMI, FBG, 2hPG, HbA1c, and other relevant indicators. The extent of these improvements may vary slightly depending on the duration of the aerobic exercise intervention.
In Conversation: Can diet and exercise reverse prediabetes?
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/in-conversation-can-diet-and-exercise-reverse-prediabetes
Moving throughout the day
Studies have shown that regular physical activity—and not only the high intensity kind—can help stabilize blood sugar and improve its management.
“[W]hen we talk about exercise, most people think about going on a treadmill and doing a 5k run, [g]etting in a sweat, which you know, is good exercise, but actually the message should be avoidance of sedentariness,” said Dr. Barber.
“[W]e know that when you’re standing, you burn more calories; it’s better for health. If you’re walking around, that’s even better,” he said.
“And there’s been some fascinating studies [that] have looked at changing sedentary behavior, like getting up every hour or every half an hour and just walking around for a couple of minutes and doing squats in the corner of the room. They showed that just that activity during the course of the day can have transformative effects on glucose levels,” he elaborated.
8 Lifestyle Tips to Help Reverse Prediabetes Naturally
https://www.healthline.com/health/diabetes/how-to-reverse-prediabetes-naturally
Lack of physical activity is another risk factor for prediabetes.
Exercise is not only great for energy and mental health, it can also lower your blood sugar by increasing insulin sensitivity. This allows the cells in your body to use insulin more efficiently.
According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), exercise can reduce blood sugar for up to 24 hours after a workout.
If you’re beginning a new exercise routine, start slow. Engage in light physical activity for 15 or 20 minutes, and then gradually increase the intensity and length of the workouts after a few days.
Ideally, you’ll want to have 30 to 60 minutes of moderate physical activity at least 5 days a week. Exercises can include:
- walking
- biking
- jogging
- swimming
- aerobics
- playing sports
And a general article about diet and exercise.
https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/diet-vs-exercise
For me, when it comes to weight loss, the biggest factor is exercise. I don't eat a very high calorie diet, but without exercise, I maintain. When I increase my exercise time and when I am consistent with it for a couple weeks, I lose.
That's what works for me.
And I've missed my usual level of exercise this week. Today is the first day I've felt a little more alive, although my face still feels like someone decked me!

My bra has arrived. I've tried it on, and.........it's comfortable!!!!! Hooray! First bra I can bear to wear in decades. I'm wearing it now, with the padding, which feels fine, but I may try it without as well
What a relief! I can't believe I didn't know about these before.

Lisa - Cute teen photos of Corey and you! He likes to take his shirt off, doesn't he? LOL! How neat you found each other. Crossing fingers all goes well with Patrick and the job. Good to hear he does has a travel trailer so everyone can get privacy if needed.
Machka - is there a mental hospital or facility nearby where your neighbor can be held and evaluated? Almost sounds like he should be in jail for a while, he appears to be near a tipping point. So scary.
Tracey - how are you feeling? Enjoy your time off. Very nice nativity scene. So glad you and Rodger finally were able to talk through things, I had a couple similar situations with my DH throughout our marriage. I'd get to the point of ready to pack and he'd say something like "what about the dogs?" I realized we just needed to rebuild communication from square one and start focusing on the good things and what we had in common.
Here's the CDC National Diabetes Prevention Program link for anyone interested. This is the program I'm enrolled in.: I searched ahead and checked out their diet/nutrition recommendations. Looks like they aren't emphasizing lowering carbs as much as I have been, but no worries. For many folks taking this class, even cutting back a little bit on carbs and processed foods and eating more veggies will undoubtedly be a big positive change for them. From what I could see on the Zoom class, some of them are very overweight.https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes-prevention/?CDC_AAref_Val=https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes/prevention/index.html
And information regarding the program through Medicare: https://www.cdc.gov/diabetes-prevention/lifestyle-change-program/ndpp-medicare-program.html
Had a great lunch with my friend M yesterday. She told how her DH, who was a cop in California, went undercover with Hell's Angels for a while. She said he loved riding a motorcycle but carrying $100,000 in cash to set up a sting was pretty unnerving. She said once she was walking down the street and as she passed a store entrance, a homeless person was slumped there and called her name. She did a doubletake... he was an undercover cop who often visited with her in the 911 Center! He got an A+ for his disguise and manner.
Then I recalled a US Marshal who would come into my office at the 911 Center to shoot the breeze. He was undercover, wore dirty clothes and always looked scruffy. One day he crossed his legs and his pant leg pulled up. I saw a knife strapped to his calf and commented, trying not to act surprised. He pulled up the other pantleg and showed me a pistol in a holster strapped to THAT calf. Just like in the movies.
I had no more than gotten home from our lunch yesterday and she'd already texted me about setting a lunch date for next month. Seems like she's not in contact with many folks from her old life now that she's been retired for a while. It's always fun to swap war stories with her. Can't wait to hear the next episode.
On that note, I need to get busy. Lunch today with another couple old friends, and I'm looking forward to it. Temps in the high 30's right now, yesterday afternoon the wind was fierce here like Barbie experienced. I may need to turn on the heat in a bit.
Make it a fabulous Friday.

Last time I made yogurt I let it incubate for 14 hours rather than 12 it did come out thicker. I am using organic grass feed whole milk. It is a bit pricey I do get two batches out of a half gallon cartoon. One container of good quality yogurt costs about the same as my milk so I figure it does save plus I know it is fresh. I did not have to buy any new appliances to make it either. I use the small crock pot my DH bought years ago and a timer with a temperature probe I also bought years ago.
Down to 165 from 184 this morning. BP was 116/79 this morning and it used to be 140/90. I have less stomach waist and went from 37 inches to 34 inches I have less joint pain. The best I can I am sticking to no gluten/grains, minimal sugar, small amounts of dark chocolate, organic fruits and veggies, raw nuts, and a lesser portion of organic and/ or grassfed meat/cheese when possible , probiotic with Kombucha, homemade yogurt, some Kimichi. Supplements a good multi Vit, Vit, D, and Vit C. The less processed the better. Exercise is walking DrewB and gardening. I do need to remember to stretch more. I can balance on each foot for a minute or more and raise from a chair without support.
Yesterday when I bought my organic broccoli it occurred to me it was the same price as a bag of chips without the addictive nature and I feel better after eating it. Yes eating this way can be pricey but if it keeps the Doctor away it is cheap!
I once heard when big Macs were $3 a burger the true cost was $30 when you consider the effect on your health. I realize an occasional slip is not a problem. It is when the slips become the norm is when the weight creeps back on me. The longer I have stayed eating this way the less I am tempted to eat foods that put back on the weight.
The bonus is I feel and look better which in turn motivates me to stay the course. I don't count calories...I concentrate on eating the healthiest foods for my body and watching portion size and drinking and eating enough liquid. This is what is working for me.

Renal doc went well. He wants to put me on Jardiance. Not sure why as my A1C and kidney numbers are all good right now, including my BP. Not sure if I will try it, depends on my co-pay. Otherwise good day overall. Went to Walmart to get CornFlakes, coffee creamer, and rum and soda for DH, then PO. Got home in a major wind storm and a little rain. Didn’t do much else after that. Weather I suppose.

Had my phone consultation, which was all the usual 'how to prep' stuff. No aspirin or alcohol for a week before, no Ramipril the night before. 5 days antiseptic shower gel and nose cream for MRSA. ETC ETC.
Very nice woman, very professional.
Hospital appointment on Monday morning.
Then I went downstairs to make the pesto, enough for two meals.
Then my phone rang and it was my brother!

Lisa - I have heard that about Samsung and LG appliances. I think I prefer the more basic appliances for that reason.
Lanette - I am the biggest problem when it comes to communication, I don’t want to upset anyone and I don’t want anyone to be upset with me, because of those reasons I tend to bottle things up or just keep them to myself. I’ve been working on this for a long time. It S a hard habit to break. Quitting smoking was easier.
I hope that when I’m retired I am able to go meet friends for lunch and be active. I need to make more friends I think. 😂
Margaret- your dedication to eating healthy is paying off.
Rita - DH is on Jardiance, it is quite expensive but is working for him better than metformin was. The pharmacist told me the last time I picked up his prescription that it should be having a generic equivalent soon as it’s almost 7 years old. Apparently that’s the magic number for a medication patent.
Allie - you’re doing well. It will be exciting to find out the genders. Is she having a party or just sending cards out?
My friend is dropping Jeb off for a visit while she goes and trades her truck. The camper she bought once loaded with her things needed a bigger truck to haul it with.
Rodger and I are going out for supper tonight, I have suggested we go to a truck stop. The town I’m from has a truck stop that all of the locals eat at and they have the most delicious burgers and fries. I’m hoping for the same experience, I will be so disappointed if it isn’t the same. I’ve tried to replicate this burger at home and have been unsuccessful, I know it’s something with how they toast the bun and after working in restaurants it’s probably something to do with the actual griddle too.
It’s funny what you want that you can’t get.
I’m sitting here doing nothing this morning. It’s cold, windy and damp today. Rodger has gone for a nap.
I may go scrapbook a bit.
Did anyone watch the series finale of Young Sheldon last night? They did such a great job on it.

Well, the saga of my Dad continues. Yesterday he drove to a jeweler maybe three miles from the house where he has lived over twenty years. He couldn't find his car afterwards, and was found wandering over by city hall a mile away. I hear he didn't know where he was. A stranger gave him a ride home. So I come home and we go look for the car, find it and bring it home.
So today the police came to the door for a welfare check requested by the kind stranger who brought him home. They wanted my name and number in case it happens again.
So Dad is "wandering." It's time to take his car keys and stop him from going out walking alone.
I guess my choice is either to take this as a wakeup call or to wait for a serious accident or mugging or such to happen. I can take his keys, ( I think) but I can't prevent him from leaving the house without 24/7 surveillance. And lots of confrontation. I just heard the front door.

Margaret ~ Your way of eating is really paying off.
Allie ~ Congrats on the pounds off.
Tracey ~ Enjoy your supper out. Hope the truck stop meets your expectations.
My DH was in the hospital from Sun/Wed of this week after going to two different dr's last week. They still think he has internal bleeding but the tests they put him through in the hospital did not reveal where. Next he has to go to the gastro dr and get a tablet that will take pics of his small intestines. They are giving him iron infusions so hope that helps the anemia.

Annie - I am so sorry for all the dilemmas you are facing. A hard time.
Carol - You must be so worried. Let's hope the docs sort it out soon.
Margaret - Many congratulations on your new eating regime. You looked great in your last photo. You eat very similarly to me, but I am currently eating more wholegrain. On my cruises I also go lowcarb which does suit me. My lack of calorie burn at the moment has resulted in some weight gain, but I will be working on my fitness ASAP.
John went out for me to post my hand painted card for Finley. It will go early tomorrow morning. Get there Monday.
My homemade pesto was divine.

I am the same way. Always have been. With first hubby, it was to not make him mad because at that time, his anger was not under control. And... just woke up after a long nap. Too long, most likely, but it may well be a side effect of the infusion. Last one will be in four weeks, then at-home injections. Will see my gastroenterologist two weeks after the last infusion.
Annie my darlin', Heather's right that the continuous dilemmas are wearing. Wish I had an easy answer. We're hanging in there with you, sweetie.
Allie - So pleased for you, dear. Keep on keeping on, you can do this. That's why we're here...
Carol - The iron infusions a couple years back made a huge difference for me in treating my anemia. They quickly got me feeling better, and I was able to take enough iron through tablets to maintain those levels afterward, That's been a year and a half ago now. I hope they find out what's going on quickly and get him feeling better. Never easy to just stand by and hope things work out well. Many hugs from here, and glad you've got him home.
Margaret - So pleased your diet is so successful, and it sounds like something very sustainable. I sent you a message on Facebook - I think someone is using your name followed by the initials to send out friend requests. They sent one to me, but there is no image of their face or any of your beautiful photos on their page, so I blocked them. You might have someone trying to hack you.
Heather - I'm waiting eagerly for my basil to produce enough to make pesto again! I've planted quite a few more, and they're already up--another week and I'll have to start thinning them out! I will probably transplant a few as inside plants, too. I will have far more than I need... but plan to make and freeze a lot once they're up enough to harvest the leaves... Corey loved the version I made, and so did I. You might try it with pecans if you can't find pine nuts... 👀😁 Pretty dang awesome.
Well, if things worked out like Corey planned them, his brother was supposed to meet him in town at 4, get introduced to the boss and get the walk around the shop, and thus they wouldn't have to go back in tomorrow. We'll see if it worked out. Friday afternoons are always iffy for anyone to stay there for long except Cor and the boss. I should get a call soon to say he's on the way home.
Still got that pressure of tiredness, like an iron bar across my shoulders, weighing on me, which tells me that it probably is from the infusion, but it will pass. These things always do. Hope it is/was a good day for everyone, and a good weekend for all.
Love y'all,

No, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth! Did Aging Backwards DVD and then took the water aerobics class on Wed. That night we met Jess and Colby at Cracker Barrel where we got Shadow since she needed to go to the vet for an ultrasound the next day. Vince took her for the ultrasound.
Vince found 4 of the kittens. 2 bonded each other and another set bonded. All are males. I know he has his heart set on adopting these cats. We will have to wait a few weeks because they aren’t old enough for shots, etc.
Been raining a lot lately. And hard
M – why does your husband want to put the floor down and then paint? Have you mentioned to him that if it was reversed, any dropped paint would be covered?
Welcome everyone new!
Monique – hope your foot is better soon
Food “pickeness” – despise artificial sweeteners, don’t care for the yolk of a hard boiled egg, but the yolk in a fried egg (sunny side up or scrambled ) is fine, don’t like nuts IN things (brownies, cookies, cake) but love nuts, I don’t care for my food in sauces, I want to taste the vegetable not the butter/oil/sauce
Debbie – adorable kittens
Can’t have an underwire bra. It digs into my ribs and is VERY uncomfortable. And because I’m small chested, I need padding.
Vince refuses to have any apple products. He wants to have control over a lot of things (like the registry) and apple doesn’t let you do a lot
Tracey – Michaela looks so….lovely. Did someone make that vest she’s wearing?
BK is now getting its lettuce prewashed in bags. I understand that it is better looking for the customer, but it also is cutting down on my hours. I might ask them if I can cook the bacon. But first, I want to talk to the gal who used to do it to see how much time it took and what all is involved.
Barbara – woo hoo on the “steps”
Vince had an infection under one toenail and today the podiatrist removed the nail (it’ll grow back in a few months) and cleaned the infection. He’s supposed to stay off his feet as much as possible.
Jess should be here tomorrow to get Shadow. I think I’ll make mini brownies for the gal who runs our bowling whose birthday is Monday
Margaret – you are doing so good
Heather – so excited for you. Jasper is so precious looking
Annie DE – HUGS
Carol – hope they find help for you dh soon
Lately, I’ve been itching. At first I thought maybe I developed a sensitivity to sauerkraut, but now I’m thinking that it’s the chlorine in the pool when I take the water aerobics. I do rinse off after the class, but maybe I need to actually wash the chlorine off. I’m going to try doing that. Also, put moisturizer on my skin.

About being a picky eater. When I was about nine years old, my family drove from the west coast to the east coast and I ordered a tuna sandwich for every meal including breakfast. Later I was more adventurous and would try new things especially when traveling. Now my eating is better defined by the limited things I choose to eat. I rarely eat in restaurants and don't eat at other people's houses so I'm not faced with food I don't want to eat. There are a few restaurants we go to (or pick up take out) and I get exactly the same thing every time at each restaurant. Interestingly, I read the whole menu, then order exactly what I ordered before. I never get up and wonder what I'll eat, because I already know. It makes grocery shopping easier because it's the same stuff all the time. Jake eats a greater variety but he adds his own food to the order and has a lot of the day to eat what he wants.
I saw a cartoon year ago of a dog looking happily at the food in her bowl and thinking "Oh boy, dog food again". I have the same feeling with the food I prepare for myself "Oh boy, Barbie chow again !"
Rebecca, we did a kitchen remodel a few years ago that involved being without a stove for about two weeks and our meals were whatever could be cooked in the microwave with the coffee pot and hot water kettle available, as well. After that, I am always grateful for my stove even if all I do is scramble eggs.
I got my teeth cleaned and the hygienist found a few spots that looked like the dentist needed to see them so I have to go back next week. My teeth have done me well for over 70 years so want to take good care of them.
Barbie in NW WA
Yep, I know my body has physically taken a toll from this kitchen remodel! Eating fast food, even if it was a sandwich from Arbeys, it all has made my joints achy. I also know I have inhaled chemicals even though they were careful. I think because I have no sense of smell, the chemicals kind of took its toll on my sinuses. I am still trying to rid myself from all the glue removal agents from last week.
I also have no energy. Paying attention to what I eat these days, and drinking a lot of water. Also taking ACV every afternoon with some sparkling flavored water. It's been helping my digestive system at night.

Well, I made those brownies. I have never in my entire life had such terrible brownies. Even tho I sprayed the pan, they stuck like nobody's business. I for the first time ever threw out batter and some of the brownies.

Margaret, Your healthy routine is an inspiration for me. Thank you for sharing it.
Carol, Best wishes to you and your hubby. Hope they find a solution soon.
Jake saw the cancer doctor today and was told that he doesn't need any treatment yet. The doctor is an hour's drive away with the possibility of a bridge closure and odd traffic so he left pretty early. He napped for two hours after breakfast and then left and didn't get home until 4 PM. It was a long day for Annie and me. She didn't like that he was gone and wanted lots of attention. We took some walks, played in the yard, and sat on the couch together and watched TV. Now she is asleep in one of her dog beds. I can't imagine what it would be like with four kittens.

Chances are he has stronger memories of his childhood locations than he does of his current situation, so he's goes to find things from his childhood.
My grandfather did that too. If the doors of the house were locked (so he couldn't go outside), he'd put on his hat and sit upright on the sofa, and when my grandmother came into the room, he'd ask when they were going home. Because the house they lived in wasn't the home of his younger self. Eventually, it got too much for my grandmother, and she had to put him into a dementia place.
When my husband started talking and moving about after his accident, he would ask me questions about places that confused me at first ... like when did they pave the paths in this park? When did they move that business? etc. The paths in the park had been paved before I moved here and the business had been there for a decade or more. But for a while his world was that of his childhood and it wasn't meshing well with the current world.
The thing is, it's not his fault.
He needs protection.
Can you set up a security camera at the door?
What about a motion senser that makes a noise when he gets to the door?
Motion senser lights outside the door ... and maybe inside.
A chain on the door high up ... especially if he decides he wants to leave at night.
Now that this has happened, and the police have been notified, can you talk to his doctor about removing his driver's licence. Then have a sit down talk with the doctor, your father, and your sister about selling his car?

I need accountability for my food intake. And I’ve not found an actively posting group.
I exercise daily. No issue there.
Okay if i join in?
I didn’t spend much time reading the back pages of posts. Guessing though that you’d welcome me to join in.
Sherry in TN
Hey Sherry from TN, welcome, from the cool shores of Whidbey Island in Washington State! We are a chatty bunch, don't feel like you have to connect with us all, just check in now and then. Many of us have been friends for years so we're all up into each others business! (ok that sounded odd, but you get what I mean).😁. Many of us chat about more than food because ours lives dictate our food choices sometimes. We are great cheerleaders to help you!
