How About We Don't Delete Newsfeeds

Save the newsfeed! Create new code if you must (I get it that old code is buggy) but don't remove our reason for logging in.

Please don’t take the newsfeed away! It is integral to our health and fitness! You can do this!🙏25

The newsfeed is the easiest way to see friends' progress and support one another.24

The news feed is one of the best and most motivating parts of the app... There are so many other ways to simply log food but I've stuck with MFP mainly because of the custom feed. The forum isn't a good replacement.25

This is our extra family. Do not delete the news feed!27

If the newsfeed goes. So do I. And my premium account with it. Mfp is about to lose a lot of people and money if they follow through on this.27

It's still there.
Who said it was going away? Is there an official announcement somewhere?
Someone posted the link for you. I just want to add this is another issue with what MFP is doing to it's customers/users. Blindsiding them. One little post in a forum no one likely visits that often. I'm guessing this is intentional so they can continue to hide by their statement the newsfeeds weren't used that much. *kitten* action by what turns out to be a *kitten* company.14 -
This is truly unbelievable that you would do away with the news feeds. This is like losing family members. That is the biggest support for those of us who struggle with our journey please please please do not Do away With the news feeds.!!28

Save the feed! I need it for inspiration and incentive from my friends. How is it MyFitnessPal without the pals!!??28
-
No newsfeed, no MFP! How can you keep up with all the gossip without it? Seriously though, it's hugely important and is a key part of community feel of the app. SAVE OUR NEWSFEED!24

The newsfeed is what builds in accountability, encouragement, motivation and connection. Going to a separate group and looking people up and scrolling through a public post is not what develops close connections. I see no reason to keep paying premium if you cannot take feedback from users who have really made MFP work for them with daily logging, often because of the newsfeed feature.28

I too am a long time premium user, no need for that following this change. While I have tolerated without complaint all of MFPs system glitches over the past 12 years, this change I cannot. The newsfeed is the reason I show up specifically to this app every day. It provides feedback with a select group of people that have become my fitness family. I can be honest, vulnerable, frank with them about my struggles and successes. There is accountability, encouragement and motivation with people I choose to have as part of my journey. I do not have any interest in doing that in a large public forum with strangers. Your suggestions for making groups and checking individual activity feeds is not an effective strategy that will be used by most. MFPs decision on this has eroded the fabric of what makes this a valuable app. The community section of this app is archaic and not easily navigated. Long and now short. You have just killed your app's primary selling point. Connections help us drive change.26

SAVE OUR NEWSFEED or this is fine too !!!
" Apparently, they'll install a more modern alternative."8 -
Save the news feed. It's what drives the mfp platform. Many people would not be here for so long if there wasn't the news feed, like myself. This feed allows us to motivate inspire focus support and hold each other accountable when needed. It provides a true human connection between us unlike some of the other platforms that's out there that are mostly about how many likes you have or how many friends you have blah blah blah....save the feed please21

#SAVE OUR NEWSFEED
The sh*ttiest decision MFP ever made!
How to kill the app!32 -
This app which led to meeting amazing people has saved my life. Without the support of this family I don't know where I will be. To many apps took away this " family connection". Why change something that helps millions of people. I understand progress, but this in my opinion is going backwards. Save the news feed!!!!!!29

I’ve been here for over 10 years and the friends I’ve made are the biggest reason I have stayed. Interacting with them each day has been so rewarding and helpful on my fitness journey. It doesn’t make sense to take the newsfeed away and hamper our ability to socialize and learn from each other. I agree with others that the Community aspect of MFP is more time consuming. Please don’t retire the newsfeed!16
-
Please don't do away with the News Feed. I've learned so much from my Pals and shared good and bad times with them. MFP and us - we all are a team!10
-
For over 9 years I have been a member of MFP. The best part is the friends I have made and interact with on the Newsfeed. Please don’t take it away. I recently suffered a tragedy in my family and am receiving more love and support from my group of friends that I ever thought possible. Please don’t take this special platform away from us. We have come to depend on it.13
-
I'm only here for one reason. My friends. I can log food on any app, there are many many of them out there. But I use MFP because I love my peeps. Remove the news feed and you've just killed MFP. You're going to lose most of your paying customers, and the free users will have absolutely no reason to stay here. If this is your way of just slowing killing/shutting down the app, then just shut it down, don't play games to get us to leave. Because killing the news feed will definitely get me (and most of my friends) to leave. They're already looking for a new home for us. Rethink this, MFP.16

YES!!! Save the newsfeed!!!!9

A comment someone posted on the newsfeed about NROL over ten years ago changed the entire trajectory of my fitness quest. Please re-design the newsfeed. Surely someone at this company can fix it. FB has a functioning newsfeed for over twenty years now. @Betty11

This is so tremendously sad and whomever made this decision, if they have any empathy, should realize that you in real time made people less happy, less healthy. In this war torn, hateful world, you have taken away a small thing we had to support each other. I can’t fathom how you can justify making so many so sad.20
-
I feel like in protest, we should all decide to not use the app on a certain day or week. Post this on all our feeds8
-
It probably seems really trivial to the devs, but the fact that my exercises etc are posted without further thought or action needed on my end has been really helping me stay consistent. No one is going to all their friends' activity feeds one by one every day to comment on them, but giving a like when you first open the app is really easy and motivating.
I've been using the app for over 10 years, but only this time I've been able to stay consistent because of the people on my feed. There are better apps out there for tracking (without the constantly increasing paywalls), and better places to keep in contact than MFP forums. The combination is what made me stay. Take that away, I think a lot of people will leave or lose motivation.12 -
This is the worst news ever. Lots of people have lost weight on this app because of the newsfeed and the friends they have made. I joined over 10 year's ago. Not only does the newsfeed provide help with weight loss it provides help with mental health issues because of the friendship people have made with others. The only reason I have stayed around MFP is because of the friends I have made on the newsfeed. If you take that away I for one will go. There are lots of other calorie counting sites but the newsfeed has always set MFP apart from any other app. I know it is going to become a money making scheme somewhere along the line but I for one will not pay for something that has been free, even with ads, so not really free, for all these years. Shame on you MFP10

I can't remember the last time I posted in the forums as I've been here long enough (since 2011) to remember when MFP took away the functions that made the forums fun and worth interacting, but here I am, because MFP is about to make yet another huge error in judgment. I haven't logged a single bite of food in this app in over 10 years, and yet I log into MFP again and again for one very simple feature - the Newsfeed. Despite the glitches and the shutdowns, we kept coming back, hitting refresh, logging in and out, just to see if MFP started working again and made our Newsfeed visible. We complained, we growled, we were annoyed, BUT we always came back. It certainly wasn't because MFP is such an amazing calorie tracker. I sincerely hope your paid users are part of the "few" members who use and love the Newsfeed feature and make the right decision to take their money elsewhere, because we all know those of us who do not pay for premium are of little consequence. You are making a grave error here, MFP. Hopefully it's not too late to save your downfall.14

Go to the customer support, tell the bot it's useless and get an option to email mfp. Email mfp to ask for the newsfeed. I have, got a generic answer, replied again with save the newsfeed. Spam the hell out of them until they cave.8

This is one of the most ridiculous decisions / enhancements made yet. In the reasoning behind the change, MFP states that the news feed is not really used. WTAF? Not sure where you asked, or how those stats were gathered, but they're WRONG.
Everyone I know, and my current news feed (in general) is flooded with grief about the upcoming change.
MFP states that instead we can use the news feed in the community section... yeah sure. I can post my updates there and than anyone from the forums can click on my pic and see what I share - but it's all or nothing. Everyone and their dog can see my stuff, or noone.
Oh well if we don't like that absolute lack of privacy (my current news feed is one of my only true safe spaces to share in), then we are encouraged to create private groups.
So how does that work? I create my own private group and invite my friends to post in there. Great. I can see their stuff and they can see mine. But if they want their friends to see their stuff, those people also have to join the private group, and so on, and so forth. Again, opening my curated feed to the larger public.
Neither of these options are even REMOTELY like for like. This is a huge loss and may be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
I've already heard people sharing their IG and TikTok feeds. Wonder if you're shooting yourself in the pocketbook, MFP.21
