6km this morning. Feeling general fatigue and was rather slow thanks to Sunday’s two hour effort so have labelled it a recovery run which makes it all legit 😁4
-
Great job on those 11 miles @kgirlhart ! Sounds like it was a really nice run, once you got going.
Great job on your Sunday runs @chris_in_cal . And getting 3.02 miles! You rock.
Excellent run @tarun_yadavA .
You're doing great with running in FL @Teresa502 . Enjoy your cruise.
Welcome @jem302 . Great job on your running this month. Sounds like you are making running a habit again. You don't have to wait until next month to join us. Just jump right in on the conversations now and be ready with a goal for next month.
Oh wow @yirara . The vacation sounds great, but not the rest. Glad you are now able to run a bit. I hope you completely heal soon!
Another great run @AlphaHowls ! Love the sunrise photo.
Great recovery run today @ContraryMaryMary !

It was a beautiful morning. 75°F, light wind, not terribly humid. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was perfect running weather, but it doesn't get much better than that in June. I was just planning to run 3 miles, but it was so nice that I ran 4. I ran negative splits too, so I was feeling really good about the run. I didn't see any critters while running, but there was a skunk on my patio when I went to let Pup out. Luckily, I was ahead of her so I was able to shut the door quickly before she noticed the skunk and before the skunk noticed us. I think she was a little confused that I started to let her out and then made her wait about 15 minutes before I finally let her go out.

@kgirlhart Glad you had a good run and that you saw the skunk first and avoided being sprayed!

54.95/80.0 mile goal
I went to the gym this morning...quite a bit of legs and arms. Afterwards, I played tennis with my more social group for 2 hours. It was fun, but I never feel I get a ton of exercise. We switch partners for every set and my teams won all three sets that we played.
I visited with my injured Aunt and her daughter and did some errands before heading home. By then, it was hot, so piddled in the house until after 8 pm. I went out for a driveway run. The temperature was 83F (28.3C) so better than it has been. It was getting pretty dark by the time I finished. I did a run/walk of 2/1 min x 12 today, per the plan. I felt I was running pretty fast...slower uphill, of course. But, my avg pace was only 13:47 min/mile. I think I am walking slower during the recovery minute. At least I'm running the hills. Avg HR was 141 with a max of 169 bpm. That max was on the last run up my nemesis hill. I think it needs a name. Any suggestions?7 -
Neighborhood 1Mile (at 12"41 pace). streak day 55
Another hot day. It's like a parade around here as soon as the sun starts setting. Everyone comes out and walks around.6 -
@kgirlhart I use salt stick fast chews. I order them from Amazon. They come in several flavors but I like the multi pack of small zipper packs. They fit well in my shorts or vest pockets and lets me mix the flavors up.2
-
@quilteryoyo "Nemesis Hill" of course.
@kgirlhart i use the salt stick tabs too. At first I hated the flavor but they grew on me and they are low cal unlike a lot of the other things. I also got a nice little plastic container to use to carry.
5.6 yesterday so 93.49 out of 100. Decided to get up 10 min early so I could add longer runs in the morning before work. That lasted yesterday. Hahahahaha.
@AlphaHowls you are crushing it this month. It's like you went from 0 to 100 overnight - you must have an iron BRAIN.
I msged with Scott over Strava and he has been crosstraining and doing really well. He has a race in the fall so will start training again in a little bit. It will be nice to see his reports again.6 -
@chris_in_cal Great run and I love that people in your area are out taking walks in the evenings.SummerSkier wrote: »@quilteryoyo "Nemesis Hill" of course.

Thanks @SummerSkier . I may have to stick with Nemesis Hill, but was hoping for something more fun - like the heartbreak hill. Hahaha. Snickered out loud at the comment about getting up 10 minutes earlier. Thanks for checking on Scott for us. I'll be glad to see him back soon too.

Hi everyone!
I jumped back into my routine for 11.5km "easy" run this morning. I should have ran slower, as I am not used to running in anything hot-ish and my pulse was really high for the pace. Hopefully I can acclimate a bit before it cools down again.
Hamburg was fun. The weather was nice and we were able to spend a lot of time by the water. Yesterday, we went out in a row boat where I was our main rower and got a good three hours of cross training in (sometimes with help).
162.8/200km for June
7 -
@martaindale duly noted. I forget who it was telling me to listen to my body but I've definitely got that ringing in my head every time I go for a run now. It echoes louder with your statements!
@shanaber don't get me wrong. I am terrified. I signed up to raise money for rabbits. Absolutely adore these animals. I could never not lend my help when I can to these animals
@quilteryoyo I am particular to adding the Delta prefix to anything that signifies difficulty. Stems from an old DDR chart called Delta Max that is notorious for a technique called drills. So other than Nemesis Hill (or simply Nemesis)
* Delta Hill
* Gargoyle
* Demolition Hill
* Cardiac Crest
Ran my long run on Sunday. Ran out of water, still learning not to choke while drinking. Ended up dry sweating towards the end.
Today I just ran 4 miles. Got called out at work only to realize someone is most likely playing dumb, but I'm about to find out. Will post running results soon5 -

My kid and my husband both left for their trips this morning. The school trip was meeting at the airport at 4:30am so I dropped both of them off at the same time. We were up at 3am so it feels so much later than it really is today.
I came home and did my run. Mega hot and humid so I stuck with the 4/1 intervals. I have the day to hang out at home by myself and do a little work.6 -
You're welcome @henridw2095 . You really are doing great!
Nice running @mari333a .
Way to get out early and get it done @daria0919 .
What a great picture @laurz9191. Glad you had a good trip to Hamburg. Great job rowing.
Thanks @VO2Maxlet . I chuckled at Cardiac Crest, so that may be it if someone else doesn't have a better suggestion. Great long run yesterday, but not good that you ran out of water. Have you looked at hydration vests? I hope everything works out for you at work and you figure out what is really going on.
Great running @martaindale . I would have probably gone back to bed when I got home, not go out for a run. LOL Enjoy your alone time.2 -

58.45/80.0 mile goal
I met a friend of mine at a local school track this morning. She and I used to run together, but she hasn't ran a lot lately. When we made plans, it was for a "walk." After we got there, she wanted to do 1/1 min run/walk. So, we walked 1 mile fast (15:40 min/mile), did one mile of 1/1 run/walk (13:26 min/mile), got water and "strolled" another 1.5 miles (20:21 min/mile) to talk and catch up. I wasn't going to count the stroll, since my self imposed rule is the walk has to be faster than 3.0 mph to count. But, it was 2.9 mph and, if you include the warm up walk, which I always do total walking, it averaged to 3.25 mph, so it is getting counted.
We're going to try to get together once day a week, at least. I hope we can.5 -
@quilteryoyo I've looked into it, but they don't allow them on the marathon. Sticking with a good old water bottle. Just a little weird to run with a half empty bottle and liquid swishing around it.
For my long run, I did 8.8 miles. Was aiming for 10. Had to cut it short due to the our checkout time and time to pack/shower/zoom on out. Felt strong. Therapist told me to keep it slow. Wasn't as fun and I did end up getting blisters. Oh well.
154 Avg HR
164 max HR
175 avg SPM
Monday I was resting/full body workout.
Today I did 4 miles.
156 avg HR
180 max HR
173 avg SPM
I feel like the trees end up messing with the GPS signal. Either that or I run slower under trees. Didn't carry water with me on this run since I forgot. But felt pretty strong throughout. Kinda mad I got called out but it looks like someone might be getting canned for being a bull in a china shop, and I just piled on some evidence for it.
I'll probably do a 2 mile run a little bit later to finish the 6 miles for the day.Here's one of the rabbits I tended to back when I was actively volunteering with socializing of the rabbits and maintenance of everything they may need. Her name was Annie. She passed away after she was re-surrendered to the shelter. Suspected cause of death was an overactive thyroid gland. I was incredibly sad when she passed away. Whenever she was out and about to be socialized, I would always just "rest" with her. I was told I was caught sleeping with her also sleeping right on my midsection. Super active bunny and was already hitting that age where it was time to go.6 -

It is definitely summer. It was a pretty morning, but already hot. I left the house at 5:43 am and it was 80°F, feels like 86°F. The dew point was 73°. It was hot, but overall it was a nice run. I stopped to chat with a couple of ladies I know. One has a new puppy. She is huge and still learning to behave, but her owner is working to get her leash trained. She is a great pyrenes, Siberian husky mix and only 8 months old.
@martaindale. Thanks, I'll check out Amazon.
@quilteryoyo I was going to say Nemesis Hill, but I see that @SummerSkier beat me to it.
@Laurz9191 Looks like y'all had a great time.
@martaindale Enjoy your alone time!

Neighborhood 1Mile (at 12"49 pace). streak day 56
A gentle run after the heat broke a little bit today, and it's supposed to cool even more the next couple of days.5 -
Morning all.
Got in 7.0M (at 10"19). Forgot to post yesterday.
@Laurz9191 glad you had a great time and are getting back into routine!
@Teresa502 enjoy cruise!
@SummerSkier glad to hear @Scott6255 is doing well.
@quilteryoyo thank you ☺️
@chris_in_cal keep going champ! 💪🏽7 -
@VO2Maxlet I'm surprised that you can't have a hydration vest for the marathon. I don't think I've ever heard of one that didn't allow them. I hope they have plenty of aid stations. Nice run. Sorry about the blisters. I hope they aren't too bad. Also glad you don't seem too stressed about the work situation. When you get called out at work, though, it feels a bit like getting called into the principles office at school. As for GPS, I agree. I know that the trees affect my reception sometimes, as does the position of the satellites during certain times of the day. Since you really can't do anything about either, I just go with what Garmin says, but know in the back of my mind that I was faster and went further. LOL Annie was so cute. I can see why you would love her.
@kgirlhart Great hot run this morning. That puppy sounds cute, but will probably be a handful. I wonder how active it will be since Siberian Huskies need to run, but Great Pyrenes are pretty chill. It's an interesting mix.

Another slog of a morning but this one felt slightly better after a full night of sleep and waking up at my normal time. I also wore the Mach’s which are lighter and springier than the 1080’s i wore yesterday, and I swear that makes a bigger difference than I would have thought.
I had a wonderful day alone at the house yesterday! Got some chores done and did my meeting in the afternoon but mostly watched a documentary about the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders on Netflix. I grew up in east TX and my dad has always been a cowboys fan. I knew it was competitive to be on the team and in the cheer world it’s a big deal to be a DCC but that was intense! If you like documentaries, I would recommend that one even if you don’t know anything about the cowboys or football in general. It was very entertaining.4 -

That surprises me too. Even the big races I have done like Houston marathon will allow them, at least for us mere mortals. The elites have their own set of rules to follow but they also get dedicated fueling stations, so there’s that. Some races I have done have even encouraged them as a waste reduction measure.
If you don’t routinely run with a water bottle, also start doing that. The weight and just the action of having to carry something can get annoying and tiring, so if you can’t rely on aid stations and need that bottle, make sure you practice with it. I have one with a strap that goes on the back of my hand so I’m palming the bottle without having to really grip it. I’d definitely recommend something like that if you don’t have one.3 -

Hi everyone!
My run today was hard! Just hot. I was doing (or trying to do sprints). I stopped on my way back to dunk my hat in the river. That helped a bit. Then spent the afternoon at the pool with the kids. Tomorrow I will take it slow to keep my pulse down.
I ran 12.2km.

It was another hot morning. 82°F, feels like 87°F with a dew point of 72°. I decided that I needed to do something to keep my mind off of the heat, so I counted all the cats I saw along the way. I saw 27. All in all, it was a good run. I ran 6.5 miles which takes me to my goal for the month. And while I didn't have perfect negative splits, I did end the run faster than I started it, so I felt good about it.

Just sharing my two favorites for the day.5 -
Glad you had a good night's sleep and better run today @martaindale . Glad you had a good day yesterday. I saw an advertisement for that documentary and it looked like it would be good. I like dance type things. That's one thing I wish I had gotten to do as a child - take ballet and dance.
Great job getting the run done @yirara . I hope you weren't too bad dehydrated. Use this one as a lesson learned run.
The heat really makes a difference @Laurz9191 .
Great run @kgirlhart ! Congrats on the fast finish and making your monthly goal already. Wow, 27 cats. That's a lot. Were they all strays, or do you know?
@AlphaHowls Very pretty. What kind of lilies are those?3
