I need at least one buffer day to keep up my spirits while I build up my resolve and my nerve to step on the scale. Good luck this round my friends. DD and DGS will be back today for the next 4 days. @quiltingjaine When I was seeing the endocrinologist (before he released me as a patient) he had talked to me about an injectable. I was willing to try it especially since my blood sugars had been running so badly out of control the couple of years prior. However, we found that my insurance would not cover it and it would cost over $1000 per month which I couldn't afford with all my other meds (as well as my home projects I was already in the middle of)
The doctor did make a special pre-auth appeal to the insurance company but two things happened during that period of time. 1. I lost a bit of weight. 2. My sugars we down nicely probably from the weight loss. Because I was "improving" my insurance still would not approve.
For now, I am stuck doing it the old fashioned way and with health issues it does not make it easy. I always say I sometimes give "in" but I never give "up". So I'll keep fighting the good fight. I do think there will come a time when insurance will start routinely covering these meds. If I still need it when (and if) that happens, I can re-look at it.5 -
The hospital was able to do the echocardiogram (ultrasound of the heart) and the EKG yesterday. However, they didnβt realize until they put in the IV that my cardiologist had ordered the wrong nuclear stress test for me. Because I have a left bundle branch block (LBBB) in the heart, I need a special Lexi Scan Nuclear test. I need another order from the cardiologist (not on site) and insurance pre-authorization. So I have to go back in August for that part of the testing. In the meantime, they did find a few things to be concerned about including diastolic dysfunction that was not present before, blood regurgitation in 2 out of 3 of the areas tested, some thickening of the mitral valve and the LBBB continued. The good news is that Injection Fraction on the left side of my heart has improved. Thanks for all the well wishes, kind words and personal emails.10

7/25 - 150.0 - Dropping off the last of the TOM-related bloat/water weight I think. I've been behaving really well lately. My coaching program has a 4 week "summer shreds" challenge starting August 1st. Since I'm already in coaching, it's not much of a change except now my goals will have a point value behind them and there are rewards for the highest points after 4 weeks ($500 cash and $500 in coaching gifts). It will be a challenge since I'll be traveling to take the kids back to their moms (up there Friday Aug 2nd, back home Saturday Aug 3rd). There will also likely be some work travel, they weren't happy I wasn't available in July so they're likely going to be pushing for it to happen early in August. I just need to do some work ahead of time planning and prepping with travel snacks and such to get me through as best I can. We have dinner out tonight since it's the last chance for Fam to see the kids before they go back to their mom's (Fam is leaving tomorrow for one last vacay to see family) but dinners are planned out through Sunday so that's helpful. I will need to improvise lunch tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday but that's much easier to do when I already have dinner logged.

Goal : I am healthy weight/BMI but unhappy with weight around my belly. My goal is to focus on cutting fat for few days and then increase calorie intake and strength training to build muscles.
Ultimately Focus on form and body fit than weight. Goal for this round would be to shed fat.

MAY 1st SW: 197.3 | EW: 196.8
MAY Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat βββ
May 22: I had packed some shorts to change into after swim without trying them on. They were so tight last summer, I expected the fit to be better ~ but when I put them on ... wow. I was in front of the locker room mirrors and was like omg, that's you. How long has it been since you looked/felt like that? I was spinning around looking at myself for a good 2-3 minutes, y'all, lol ~ my New #1NSV
May 4: 10 of the 20 inches lost was off my belly! No pics, no proof, lol ~ I love/hate taking photos because they've become one of my best tools. You can't lie and you can't hide. Putting myself on blast 1) creates incentive to increase effort and 2) highlights new areas to focus on. Still a long way from my ultimate goals, but its nice to see muscle memory is real! At a size 15, I haven't been this small in more than 10 years.
APRIL 1st SW: 198.2 | EW: 197.8
Goals: Lose 6-8bs, 2-3 inches and 1-2% body fat βββ
Lost less than a pound, 1.25 inches combined on arms and legs | regained 0.2% body fat and 1/2 inch back on my belly. Starting dietary 200-400 calorie deficit and Intermittent Fasting 18-24 hrs. Breaking fast differently, including more protein, and continuing to look for new ways to increase step count and add more strength in May.
January 1st - April 1st, I've lost 17 pounds and a total of 20.8 inches from 11 areas. π₯³ Thrilled to see my hard work reversing prediabetes and years of physical damage. Getting leaner and stronger and chair dancing proud of myself about it!! 57 and hormonal, it's taken longer than expected and a much rougher road than my youth.
Reaching onederland (March 13th) meant the end of 10+ years and up to 80 pounds!! gained and relost too many times to count. Yo-yoing is the main reason for so much body fat!!! Determined not to continue to self-sabotage ... I need a new target!! If I should lose an additional 8% body fat to reach the "standard" for my age, height and sex ~ and up to 15% more to reach excellent ~ that's @ least another 8-15 months of work before I can begin to relax and think maintenance.7 -
@fmfdfa2020 Use anything you see. I "borrow" from other posts also. It's a great way to 'try something on and see if it fits'. That's on of the things I love about this group. There is always a nugget to help us on our way.7

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I normally log in as the last thing before bed to reflect on my day and to set a game plan for tomorrow. This is where I write it out, sort of journaling, sort of tracking, sort of a mental dump.
(Day 5) Thursday- 07/25 ~ Todays weight 218.7
Iβve got a bit of cellulitis on my shin. Hopefully, it will clear before my follow-up next week. I did my PT 2 times and managed IM for 1 hour total. Focusing on IE has slowed meals, but I am enjoying the food more and am eating much less.
Today, I am focusing onβ¦β¦β¦β¦β¦
(IM) Intentional movement: getting up and walking every hour or two with a minimum of 30 min. daily (in any combination of minutes/sessions).
(IE) Intentional eating: Recognizing the food on my plate, taking small bites, consciously chewing, tasting the flavor, feeling the texture, and stopping before I feel full. Giving myself time to recognize the difference between hunger and satiety.
Goals for this round; (same as last few rounds & hoping committed to achieve them this time!! β Again!!)
β’ First and foremost, no feeding frenzies
β’ to get to/stay under 139 pounds,
β’ to lose!
I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.
@quiltingjaine Your granddaughter is beautiful! Also you reminded me that I could really use a spa day.
@lisacantwell welcome! This is a very supportive and welcoming group. We all use a slightly different format on our daily posts. Ask any question you can think of and just jump right in.
There is no judgement.
@deepwoodslady thinking about how insurance companies deny access to life improving and saving medicine, hundreds of thousands of times every single day, literally brings tears to my eyes. I really do not get political, ever on-line, but if we all (Americans) stopped fighting each other maybe we could fight this system. It is disgusting.
It sounds like your visit had some new health information. Knowledge is power! We have all watched you use this to motivate yourself. You have come a long way on this health journey and are doing the hard work. Keep crushing it!7 -
@reshii_devi A lot of good moves in that one! One of these days we should set up a zoom workout!4
7/25- 174.2
7/26- 172.8 And that is what happens when you are too busy to eat!!! Iβm rushing around trying to accomplish six million things so I can βrelaxβ with the fun group today.
I wanted to sit out for the boat ride and set up the cook out/ evening fire pit but DH looked a bit sad when I suggested that. So I had to get all of that ready last night.
I tend not to eat much when Iβm entertaining and then over eat the following day. Iβm going to try very hard not to do that. I am also going to focus on drinking my water today.10 -
@deepwoodslady: your dealings with both insurance (rejection on meds) and your cardiologist (wrong test) are not only totally frustrating, they show how lacking "customer service" (and compassion) our health care system has become. It's a constant tangle of confusion and bureaucracy. I am so sorry you have to deal with that on top of worries about your health. Hang in there4
@lisacantwell: welcome! This group has helped me immeasurably, and I hope it helps you as well! Best of luck meeting your goals!
@reshii_devi: great video, no annoying voices, good moves; reminds me of my fav class at the gym, which I can only get to once a week so this is a great quickie interim! Thanks!
@Chapter_3: Congratulations on a full year, Carolyn- that's a fantastic accomplishment!! Your energy and commitment are inspiring!4 -
7/25 169.4 Got in an outdoor walk between rain showers yesterday. The temperatures felt amazing all day, and we sure did need the rain!
7/26 168 Walked between showers yesterday and also got in an exercise bike workout during the rain with DGD on her own exercise bike. We had so much fun together with that! Itβll be good for both of us.
Iβm a serial dieter/gainer whose weight has varied by 50 lbs over the years; Iβm working to change my relationship with food. I joined this group in 12/23 at 147, lost 22 lbs and reached my goal in 4/24. Iβm now working to understand my patterns so I know where my pitfalls are. My goal is to remain within the same 3-4 lb range for good!
7/26: Echoing what @Chapter_3 says about reevaluating each round- it's not just a rote rollover, it's a 10 day chance to reassess my commitment to take care of myself and make good choices, which is really what this is all about. Reminder to self: what the scale shows is a reflection of mindful food choices; no more, no less.9 -
Waiting for this round to start so I could join back in...Traveled last week for work and personal. So blessed to find a place to live in Austin now back home preparing to move. The people who offered to buy my house have become nightmares, long story, but everyday seems to be a new chapter of a horror novel- it's not that bad. But the stress is getting to me, little time to exercise but I am squeezing in my pickleball.
7/25:120.2 - I feel I cheat - waiting several days for the challenge to start I cannot help to be mindful of what I am eating and make better choices. I did play Hot Pickleball (similar to Hot Yoga, the warehouse is not air-conditioned) last night. Got up an hour earlier today and have been hauling things out to the curb (this should count for exercise) for trash day. First day in several I did not wake up with a headache, been so stressed - but prayed to God and he answered and resolved what seemed an overwhelming obstacle so I am sure letting go and trusting has released some of the tension I was carrying in my shoulders.
7/26: 119.8- Funny, I was mindful until yesterday - then careless yesterday and I will pay the price tomorrow...Had little time for dinner and found a TJ mandarin chicken- nothing is healthy there! But quickly made it and used half the sauce. I know I will be bloated tomorrow- I am going to repeat and repeat that so I have no reason to be upset. Played pickleball last night- Got to Sam's club right before it closed and they had moving boxes- Yeah! Slept well last night, feel so much better today.
