Knackered!
I decided to walk to the Post Office to return the gold belt to Amazon. It's about 0.8 of a mile return journey. Got there OK, with one rest on a wall. I didn’t take my stick, as I had half a mind to pick up some Dim Sum. Easier to carry stuff without it.
After the return, I found the Asian shop was shut until 10 am! I went into the Flourpot bakery to buy focaccia instead, and decided to have a rest with a cup of coffee. I enjoyed that and chatted to the people next to me. There is a flower shop adjoining, so I went to have a browse, and ended up buying some lovely blush chrysanthemums, for a cheap price.
By that time, the Asian shop would have been open, but I couldn't carry any more stuff.
It felt like a long walk home. Rested on one wall, outside the Jehovah's Witness hall. Just about made it home. No help from John. He was writing his novel.
So, I just bunged the flowers in some water, and put the focaccia in the freezer and retired, more than a little miffed.
He had made me coffee earlier, so put some ice cubes in it, and took that with me.
I need to get rid of the flowers G bought me, which have passed their best, and get the chrysanthemums cut down and in a suitable vase. I have one in mind, that my father made.
I was dosed up with ibuprofen and co-codamol, but it was still really hard.
Resting this afternoon.

Morning, kids - up early, but not stupid early.
My house looks and smells amazing - I know that squeaky clean smell will wear off soon, but so enjoying it right now.
Monique - Thank you - there's a hiccup here and there, but overall, I'm feeling spiffy! I slept through the night last night, something I'm making a habit of these days, and there are many more good days than bad. Hope your leg and foot are doing well and that your a/c is fixed soon! Can't imagine life here without it, and you're even further south than I am.
Rori - Always good to see you pop up. So glad you like to travel - I can live vicariously through you and Allie and Monique and the rest who flit around. I'm still enjoying standing still and blooming where I planted myself. Hope the fire doesn't get to the house in Idaho! It sounds as if they're doing all they possibly can to try to keep the place they love safe from the frames.
Carol - How's your knee?
Allie - Well done staying as far out of Sean and Jean's business as you possibly can. There are few good outcomes that seem possible from that mess.
Machka - Hope the hurricane-type winds have subsided and life is calmer again soon!
Quiet day planned today, after yesterday's busy-busy. Plan to enjoy it. Inside. Outside is the remains of armyworms and another hot day. When Corey got home last night, the outside thermometer showed 113F (45C) in the sun.
It's why I do everything that is within my power to make things right for him at home - he works in absolutely brutal conditions, seldom complains, and just powers through. His first 35 years were spent in Alaska, and he loves the warm - but there's warm and there's HEAT. It's supposed to break this weekend as this heat dome dissipates. Should drop down nearly 25 degrees, into the mid 80s for high temps, and oh, I hope they're right.
Corey's about to head for work, and I need to construct something resembling a light table for an experiment I'm working on. Tell you later, if I'm successful. Want to wait until he leaves, because he thinks my Rube Goldberg contraptions are funny. 😹
Later, y'all,
Love,
Lisa in AR

You don't have to ferry him around. You could say "no".

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Debbie take care of yourself as you mourn Miso. You took excellent care of him. He died surrounded by love.
Lisa eww! Worms! I hated the cicada infestation. You couldn't step foot on the sidewalk without crushing one. And it was impossible to keep the dogs from eating them. Eww. But you do an excellent job cleaning!
Allie so sad for Tracy. Good job avoiding renting a place for Sean. That would have been a neverending trap.
Lanette Take care in this heat!
Rebecca Yay for a great eye checkup!
Rori yes Maine in September sounds lovely! Hope the fire in Idaho is controlled.
Monique good of you to help your neighbors mom. Sorry you woke up in the night- we all take turns doing that. Did I miss that your a/c had trouble? Oh no, not in this heat! Soak your feet in cold water!
Heather I had dark wood floors installed once. Beautiful but they showed every dog hair and every speck of dust. I slept almost daily. ..And the hardest part of a recovery is knowing how much you can/can't do. So hard to guess when it keeps changing.
Tracey you are right about the men in books! And the music collections! I have worthless boxes of CDs and I am resisting subscriptions.
Machka hope the storm doesn't damage your new house! It might be cozy inside for a few days.
Well Dad's been invited out to lunch and I decided to go with him. He is vulnerable to exploitation and for some reason I am afraid this guy is selling something. It's a guy from Dad's church, which isn't my religion, so it's likely to be awkward for me.
Have a fantastic day! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

We had a bad storm here Tuesday. Fortunately I did not have any trees falling. 2000 trees fell in the public lands. The 100 year old Linden at sons did leave small branches to clean up. I take that over a large branch and or a tree falling on a car or building. One person lost a vintage camper to a tree!
I had to create a politically free zone with my brother last night. I have done that on Facebook too!. I want energies to go towards my own healing and helping others.
Last night's talk was on food sensitivities. Wheat and dairy top the list. I do have some trouble with wheat hence the gluten free track I am on. Dairy is not as much of an issue. I just need to watch my portions especially with cheese. A serving of cheese is much smaller than I believe it should be.
In another lecture I learned the place for resistant starch in a diet. Beans are very high in this. I do need to add more of them. Bananas that are not so ripe another source and potatoes that are cooked and then chilled.
My diet will always be in progress. I am just working towards making it as nutritious as I can,
Tracey and M I agree it takes time and carving out that time and creating those places to regulate the vagus nerve. I am getting better. I was able to recover from a frustrating morning yesterday faster, giving the task of planning the outing to a friend without guilt, and setting a boundary with my brother about politics. I still have my moments like finding DrewB accidents on the carpet after working on projects that leave me tired. I put her in a safe spot so she doesn't have to hear my rant. Fortunately baking soda is my friend. I make sure I am calm when I retrieve her from her safe spot. To help my vagus nerve I work on my breathing, get out in nature everyday, sing, do and or share something artistic as often as I can, try to get a good night sleep, find a comedy show that makes me laugh everyday, try to not over comment and pace myself through projects.<img src="https://scontent-msp1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/394962177_2115295052143628_633752671623947710_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_p526x296&_nc_cat=104&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=127cfc&_nc_ohc=zDcYHzvzFUQQ7kNvgEkWddT&_nc_ht=scontent-msp1-1.xx&oh=00_AYAUefhyIV8OpWr0kp6Z9B8y_XaG3xeupH-SpnL2QTtnQg&oe=66D4E8BE" alt="May be an image of dog"/>
She really is my angel even with her occasional accident!

Snowflake1968 wrote: »Ginny - I keep reminding myself of my hip, back and foot pain to encourage me to do my exercises and to move.
Machka - I was not under the extreme stress that you have been under and not nearly as long, but I have to say just a few weeks of no stress didn’t do it, it took me months to be able to relax and not expect the”other shoe to fall”. I hope you get a long break soon.
Terri - Yes I tend to learn better diving than I do sitting. I made the desk switch today and am going to start taking charge very soon.
Heather - I like a light wood floor as well. We’re going to have problems in this house when we decide to redo the floors. They need done desperately.
You and John will have fun with the new record player. I asked for one two years ago for Christmas and am so happy with it. I don’t play it often enough in the Summer, but I tend to in the Winter.
I think a posh lunch is a great celebration of your feeling better!
Kylia - my neighbour is a single mom, she just got two kittens for her son. She says they are very active and her son is in heaven.
Annie - I think the reason men in books who don’t communicate much are attractive because the authors have active imaginations.
Lisa - I remember an army worm invasion in my hometown in the 80’s it was terrible! You could hear them crunch as you were driving down the road.
Allie - Hugs to you. So much going on. I hope that you have a more peaceful day tomorrow.
Rebecca - I love your story of Leigh and the cane.
Oh how can Athena be starting school already! Such a sweet girl.
Lanette - My manager the administrator has been covering 2/3’s and the scheduler has been the other 1/3. They were doing the mandatory things but there are some other things that need attention, and some time to accomplish. The day to day stuff is caught up though thankfully!
Rori - I hope your nephew’s home is spared.
Maine in September, being from New Brunswick I was through Maine a lot, what a beautiful time of year. What part will you be seeing, my MIL lives closer to Houlton, ME than she does her closest town in NB.
My brother shared this the other day on FB, I told him that some of us are now buying vinyl again. 😂😂😂
Not a whole lot to share today I sat and watched TV mostly this evening outside of my bath time. I am tired so was thinking a quiet evening would be best.

It was one of my funniest moments when we had appts at OHSU for his liver transplant, post and pre. Even as sick as he was, we still had humor. Sometimes that was really all there was. Amazing how humor can make you resilient. Like a super power!😁💖

Sometimes men are rocks. They have to be told things, like when you need help. Whereas us ladies can sense things, and would come running to help you.🙄💖. Glad your adventure went smoothly. Did I say you are a rockstar?

So some NSVs since starting this 28 fast start thing:
My clothes are looser.
My skin is clearing up, not like I was deep in acne but always a handful of healing ones.
My nails are growing and are rock hard.
I am sleeping better, deeper.
I am getting up at 6:30 am every morning like I mean business.
My bra is on the middle hooks instead of the last.
I can drink coffee black now, no problem.
All great things and more to come. Feeling accomplished and just had to crow a wee bit. 😁
Out of curiosity I logged my food yesterday. It was 1400 or something. I shouldn't have had the mint ice cream cookie but anyways. Life happens.

It was DH’s birthday yesterday and he wanted to go to Golden Coral for his dinner. He likes that he can eat a variety and all he wants for the one price. They had lowered the price so it was worth it to go there. I started with a big salad, then I got a plate of mostly veggies with a small piece of port and a chicken let. Then I was bad….. got carrot cake with some hot apple ‘something’ topped with ice cream. The only place I eat dessert! At least it was carrots and apples…..🤪 Otherwise quiet day. I walk twice a week with ankle weights and a hand weight and had done 1.5 miles like that in the morning, then another 1.5 miles without the weights so deserved the treat! Had a few nuts and some watermelon for supper, just because.
My Brownie was the dog that was having accidents in the bed, (I hope I’m not cursing myself here but) she has stopped that but wakes me up often at night to put her out. My health app says I’m getting over 8 hours of sleep, but I’m up almost every hour until about 3 am putting her out. She usually sleeps good from 3-7 so I get a good 4 hours straight which helps a lot. Still better than changing the sheets every day! It’s hard to do sheets on a regular bed, but in the RV, it’s REALLY difficult with only 1 side to stand on!
Thursday is an open house for the Adult Center where I occasionally teach computer use. I have a slide presentation all set for that and will review it again today to make sure it is good and all set. I hope I get students this time. I really enjoy those evenings out.
Allergies are bad around here, grass, tumbleweeds, and crabgrass…. Yuck!
Have any of you heard of “The Burning of ZOZOBRA?” It’s an ugly tall ‘thing’ that people put notes with their problems and worries in then the whole thing gets burned in a big fire. Well, it’s happening this Friday night and the only thing on the news lately! Here is what it looks like. https://burnzozobra.com/

Rebecca - I was aware, even at the time, that I should have asked him outright to help me, but he is naturally of the school of, 'Soldier On Regardless'. He rarely asks for help, as it wasn't part of his childhood to be mollycoddled. Neglected, rather.
When I went downstairs for lunch, I did remember to ask him directly to help me to empty the large vases of the old, huge bunches, and he was very happy to do so. My new flowers look lovely, in a grey ceramic vase my father made.
I have prepared Jerk Chicken for dinner. It's marinating. I didn’t use Scotch Bonnet chillies, as John can't eat really hot food, and I'm hoping that the very mild chilli I used won't be too hot for him. Blending up the paste was a lot of work, as it was too thick to blend in the liquidiser easily. But it's done and we shall see. I have a microwavable packet of Rice and Peas to go with it, which is what gave me the idea. Asparagus for a vegetable.
I've only made it once before, for a guest lunch, and I made the Rice and Peas from scratch. (The peas, for anyone who doesn't know, are red kidney beans. All cooked in coconut milk)

Rori - hope your nephew and family are able to avoid the fire at their beautiful residence. Maine sounds like great fun for you, especially with N there.
Annie - good idea accompanying your dad to lunch, especially since your intuition has some bells going off. Hopefully it's a pleasant experience.
Rita - poor little Brownie. Lately if Rosie hears me up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, she also wants to go out. She's normally quick, so not sure if she's doing her business or just sniffing the air. Once I'm up with my slippers on and wrapped in a jacket (I'm always prepared in case she's tempted to tangle with a raccoon) to let her out the back door, it's hard to go back to sleep. So I stay up. I aim for 6 hours of sleep and get my nap in after lunch. Great job on your walking and its nice you'll be able to give your slide presentation.
Allie - Sean is having quite a time. Now, is the MIL with Alzheimer's he's caring for the same lady you were watching a few years ago? Jean's mom, right? And she's divorcing him? That sounds complicated. I'm sure you'll give him some good advice today, hope he takes it in.

This is my chrysanthemum bunch I bought for £3!! The photo doesn't show the really delicate colouration, but I wanted to show you the vase my dad made.
Treat yourself with something today. Self care.

Missed the Fair. DS was supposed to come at 10 which even then was pushing for us to get a park and ride spot. He was not going to make it until 11:30. He did not call me to let me know. I had to call him. I tried to go by myself at 11 no luck park and ride was lot full. I told him if I had not had to wait on Monday for an hour to do some personal business on the phone and yesterday another fortyfive minutes and then add half an hour on the phone to try and complete business to no avail I might have had more patience with him being an hour and a half late. His is starting a new shift and still adjusting. I told if he cannot honor a commitment then it is better not to say you will do something. I would have tried to leave for the Fair 8:30-9 if I had known. I would have liked to go with him but I would not have had a problem going on my own. Given what weather and crowds will be the next days of the Fair I will skip it this year.7
