Tasmania is still being swallowed up by the massive wind monster.

Everyone was posting early this morning my time, usually the only comments from my last one is Heather and Machka. A few more last night.
Kylia - Happy Anniversary! I think the fancy places want people to sit back and relax and not rush through their meals. The bars and such want to serve more people I’m sure.
Machka - I think it’s great that you can just work on settling in now. It will be less stressful for you.
What a lot of wind.
Allie - I see NB and Quebec are dealing with an endemic of Whooping Cough. NB instituted a mask policy in all medical buildings today.
Pip - maybe your donations will come through yet.
Margaret - That’s a nice picture of Drew B. I didn’t know the story behind her name. I love it.
Lisa - there does seem to be a lot of illnesses going around. I swear our world is poisoning us, but I look at some of my ancestral records and they were dying of it generations ago too but at younger ages. 🤷♀️
So sorry about your friend’s dad, of course it’s going to bring your memories to the forefront, it’s how we empathize.
I told Rodger about Corey style change, he said if I decide to do that something’s wrong with me. 😂 I think we’ve discussed how they have similarities in style.
Lanette - I noticed that about her as well, it was nice to see someone my age and shape.
Carol - I hope your knee pain eases soon.
Beth - Sorry for the loss of your Aunt, I hope your Mom doesn’t get set back because of it. Sometimes the families and medical team decide not to tell if they are concerned it will do harm.
Well I have my second week in and I am just so happy with the atmosphere. The administrator is absolutely wonderful!
I smiled everyday.
I had no plans for the weekend, but now have something each day.
Saturday I am going to go for a drive to a discount store to see if I can find a couple of shirts and maybe a pair of shoes.
Sunday I am going to visit Kaitlyn and Brodey with Lauryn and the Grands. The grands are getting hair stuff done.
Monday I will be at home, I may bring out my Fall decor, for sure I will gather some things to take to the office on Monday.
Have a nice evening

Lisa - So sorry about your friend. I hate the way death is so hospitalised these days. I have made an advanced directive to be allowed to die when I'm incapacitated. No medical intervention, apart from making me comfortable. I expect my loved ones to find that difficult, but I sincerely hope they will obey my clearly stated wishes. I have no desire to live on once my mind and quality of life is gone. Unfortunately, hospitals, and society, are not set up that way.
My old friend C has settled on the fish restaurant as a meeting venue on Sunday. I will get there before the lunch rush, to hold the table. It's going to be a bit weird seeing her after twenty years, and, before that, ten, or so. The days when we were very close were quite different. It will be interesting to catch up.
Tracey - so happy that the job is working out for you. Enjoy your weekend!
Good Clutterbug video/podcast yesterday. Reminded me to do things badly. Hooray! I am a reforming perfectionist and it used to be paralysing.
DON'T LET THE PERFECT BE THE ENEMY OF THE GOOD.

Heather - I remember in 1978, when my grandfather, at the same age my friend's dad is now, lost it on the nurses and the doctors, cursing and throwing punches, until they sent him home. He promptly died, because that's what he wanted, to die at home. I think it's what Bud probably wants too, but there is no way my friend will simply be allowed to just take him home. We have become so medicalized that we can't ever seem to be OK with dying. I'm very much on your same page. And said so in the papers we had drawn up when we had the trust created. No call from her yesterday, and I don't know whether that's good or bad. She knows I'm here, and she'll call if she needs my voice.
Rita - I tried the intuitive eating route once upon a time, when I weighed over 300 pounds, and I was too mentally broken at the time to be able to handle it. I gained 10 pounds in ten days, and decided that for me, at that moment, I simply couldn't deal with eating anything and everything I chose. I think it just depends on your own mental ability to discard a lifetime's worth of self-imposed restrictions. While I come closer to it now than I did then, I still have to exercise some restraint. Not restriction, mind you, but restraint.
Up at 2 a.m., but I'll be able to get a nap later if I want. Been dinking around totting up all the costs for things I've bought to make for the Christmas fair ever since I got up, and I really would like to get a few things done on the maker side of things. Got some ground to make up!
Later, babies,
Love,

Rita - I took a look at the Intuitive Eating. As I read through the ten principles, I realized the diabetes prevention classes are pointing us there and I've been able to connect with some of them.
Tracey - so happy you are loving your new job and the atmosphere there.
Lisa - yesterday I was chatting with a friend (my age) on the phone, and out of no nowhere she pipes up that she HATES appointments and scheduling things with others these days. They infringe on her freedom and as she has gotten older, her need to be in charge of her life is getting stronger. I told her to get out of my brain, lol.
She also mentioned that her DH went for a "get acquainted" visit with a new PA at the clinic they go to. The gal told him he was in A-Fib and gave him a prescription for Eliquis. My friend was shocked and said "no way" until he is examined by a specialist. I thought of the experiences many of you ladies here have had with wearing heart monitors and going through testing.
Back/foot pain - after doing early morning stretches (after a couple cups of coffee ) religiously every day for the past month, I can attest my calves and hamstrings aren't as tight as they were. At my age, I never thought I'd see an improvement. Also am now including the "dead bug" along with bridging and cat/camel for my back a la PT for herniated disc I learned 30 years ago.
About Protein... I've been down the protein rabbit hole for the past week. Authoritative sources vary as to how much we need as we age to prevent sarcopenia. The dietician in my diabetes prevention class says I need at least 80 gm/day. I usually come in at 90 to 100 or more, probably good because right now I'm so active outside and working my muscles carrying heavy things.
However, some experts are saying we need much more than that. And other experts say that our bodies cannot process more than 30 gm at a time, anything more than that turns directly into fat, but I haven't found any research yet that supports this. Still looking.
Add to this if a person is intermittent fasting and only eating 1 or 2 meals per day, is ingesting 50 or more gm at a sitting good or bad? Will it eventually harm kidneys?
I ran across this protein ranking video by a clinical nutritionist. She contends all protein isn't the same, and even animal sources vary from a nutrition standpoint. If anyone is interested. 17 minutes.
We are all different and I am not giving advice or direction on anyone else's protein needs. There's lots of information out there. I depend on my lab tests to see how I'm doing, and will shoot an email to Dr. Lisa in the meantime to get her take.
Make it a fabulous weekend!

Good morning beautiful ladies!
Beth I would seriously consider not telling your mom. But of course you know her mental state much better than I do. You have to tell her enough truth so that she trusts you. And I'm sorry for your loss
Yesterday my dad was wondering if his elementary school teachers were still teaching. They would have to be about 110 years old. I told him so.
My Saturday morning walking partner has COVID. He seems to be doing well and expects to be
done with it in a day or two ( after a week of
illness). I'm sore anyways because yesterday I walked Teddy off and on for six hours trying to get a sample for the vet. Then I went, and the vet was closed early for labor day. So we do it again next week.
Some financial stuff to do today. But first a nap, and then, a pumpkin spice latte! Sugarfest. I know.
Have a great day my friends! May you all be happy, healthy, safe and free!

Michelle DrewB does not have much belly hair so yes you see the green dot. At Human Society they fix them, give them a bunch of vaccines, chip them. Fortunately she was only there three days when we got her. Another fun part of the story is we got here around the 4th of July. The day we adopted her (my DS and I) they were doing a series on a local news station about dogs and fireworks. All of a sudden we saw DrewB on T.V. I said I am glad we already have her in our care. Those seeing her would be calling to adopt her. She came right up to the front of her stall wagging her tail and looking like please take me home!
Heather here we have Hospice. It does need to be ordered by a Doctor. Without Hospice I could not have let DH die here at home. He was resigned to go to hospital like his mom and dad. I told him that reason his dad had to go into the hospital is his mom was older and had just broken her wrist. He had three falls the week he died. I call EMS to help get him situated. He was worried about the cost. I told him if I got hurt trying to help him there would be no choice but to go to hospital Turns out we were not charged for them coming to our home. If he had gone to the hospital in an ambulance then there would have been a charge. I could have not have had him at home without Hospice they provided the equipment right when I needed it. I would not have been able to get these things like a potty chair and hospital bed in a timely manner. They also came and got everything within a few days after he passed which I also appreciated. Not everyone has good experiences with Hospice. We did! It was at this time I started to change my diet to give me the strength I needed to handle all of this.
This is part of why I do come on a bit strong here to hopefully encourage those who are here to take care of themselves because you never know what life will throw at you and the more fit you are the better you will whether those tough times...We will all face tough times...Some of us are facing them right now... Please take care and know you are loved and prayed for.6 -
Morning all
After 2 open heart surgeries and getting rolled into the operating room with a at least a dozen people and alot of equipment around me .and come out ,have sepsis and in ICU then pneumonia..

Being free of appointments for a month hasn’t been for me lately. September DH and I have bloodwork then PC. I have more bloodwork later then Kidney doc and dentist on same day!! Also a therapy appointment. So will be busy with all that.
Last weekend of working the pay booth, (I think, Ranger said maybe another week)! YAY but 3 days in a row due to holiday on Monday. If prior years are any indication, it won’t be over busy. This holiday seems to be quieter than all the others.
Dinner yesterday was “Delia Salad” - roasted peppers, tomatoes, and garlic, chicken thigh, pan fried (in avocado oil) potatoes, and seasoned string beans, with an orange for desert. Having an orange for desert curbs my sweet tooth nicely!
And here is a picture of my finished Harry Potter and Doby. I don’t like how Harry’s hair came out, and I ran out of maroon yarn for the scarf, but overall, not too bad!

For me, right now, probably too much, but I’m following the Healthie 80/20 pre-diabetes class that Lanette likes, an insurance program called DietID, and a plan my grocery store pharmacy offers and gives out points with equal 1,000 points=$1 off coupon. They are all virtually the same and have similar goals and information. They all have been based off the CDC’s ‘My Plate’ and pre-diabetes plan. The intuitive eating article was just one of the articles from the Diet ID plan of which I have become a Beta Tester. For people with CKD lower protein is advised, which is where I am. I aim for 45-70 grams of protein a day. Bloodwork this coming month will show what my diet change has done. I’m hoping for a lower A1C from 5.7 (pre-diabetes) to lower, and my protein level is always checked with both my PC and Kidney doctor so, we shall see.
Goals I have set by program:
DietID only 1 goal at a time: Eat when I’m hungry for 7 days -yesterday ate too much at night, but I was hungry! Lol
Pharmacy program has 10 goals between 7 and 21 days long: Pick plant protein 15/21 days., Take 5,000 steps a day 6/7 days, Daily meditation 15/21 days, Exercise daily (30 min) 9/21 days, Enjoy Salmon 4/21 days, An Early night 12/21 days, Better Bedtime routine 15/21 days, Wind down with calming music (10 minutes) 15/21 days, limit coffee consumption 21/21 days, Cook more at home 18/21 days. Each goal reached provides 300 points where 1000 points = $1 coupon
Healthie 80/20 No negative self talk- daily, Replace 2 processed foods with Whole Foods weekly, No negative self talk daily, Do Hobby while watching tv daily, Keys to Success (positive self-talk) daily, Journaling daily, Eat 1 meal or snack a day mindfully, Fill half my plate with fruits and veggies daily, meditate 10 minutes daily, go for 2 15 minute walks daily, affirm my progress weekly, strength training 3 x a week, weight bearing exercises 2 x a week, yoga 3x a week, limit sweets to 3 times a week.
The Hope 80/20 or Healthie 80/20 program has you make a goal each week that goes with the topic of the week. I will have a new one added this week. I can make them only last a week or happen once, or as I have them, repeat weekly. I like the repeat weekly as it keeps me on track. This week’s session will be on satisfying your cravings. Perfect for me as this has been plaguing me this week!
Sorry for the book.

Lanette-Absolutely agree with you regarding stretching and what it can do. It is helping my leg and foot so much. I won't say it has gotten rid of arthritis on top of foot, but my gait is much better and I don't have all of the tendons, muscles, especially that darned periformis, giving me fits.
I have had limited but good experience with hospice. It was wonderful for my mother. She had been in rehab and we knew end was coming. The facility had a hospice wing. Mom decided to transfer to that instead of coming home (she thought it would be easier on us). They took care of all of her physical needs, administered medications that eased things for her. While she took several days transitioning, family was able to gather and support her.
My husband only had limited hospice services (he passed several hours after going off vent) but again, the removal of tubes, the family together and him kept comfortable (not to mention they made sure we had food). Again-it was in the hospital but the approach is what makes the difference.
Need to get house picked up-brothers and their wives coming over for Ohio State game. My brother with Alzheimers used to love watching OSU so we shall see if it connects with him, but we can still have some pizza and be together.
Take care all,

You are just a year older than I am. Our 45th will be next summer(class of '80). I am the on in charge of planning each reunion. I have already started on a few things- first is tracking down old classmates. Facebook sure makes that part and getting info out about it so much easier. I also need to check with a friend(my best friend who passed away, her younger sister). The family owns a winery and we have had the last few reunions at their place. I want to check her calendar to see when will work for her. Around here, reunion is planned around harvest- many work in the industry so we do it right before or right after harvest.

Aqua zumba was fun last night- only 4 in the class again this week- up to 23 last month. Swam some laps before and after class. Ended the day with 14,000 "steps". Also walked the wetlands for an hour.
Today is the day mom's room mate has to be totally out of mom's house-FINALLY.
The lady who we had made an interview with to help dh's mom just canceled-she doesn't want the job. That is totally ok with us- so many red flags when dh was talking to her on the phone.
We will start looking on Care.com again plus I will ask around at church. I am very upfront with who ever I ask so they know what they are up against before they walk in the door.
Heading over to walk MIL's dog, then shopping- need cat food(always) then home for regular chores(dishes/laundry/etc) maybe a little gardening.

I went to my 15th high school reunion at a time when I was happily thin and my life was going great. I remembered very few people even though I lived and worked in the same town where I'd gone to high school. The only people at the reunion who said they remembered me were the ones who remembered my younger sister who was a cheerleader and the one who said he used to copy off my paper in math class. I haven't been to a reunion since. I went to the 40th reunion of my college class where my connection was with the campus and the town and not the people.
With Jake not allowed to drive for six months, my errands and appointments have more than doubled. He can't go anywhere in town without me and he has most of the appointments and errands, This morning we went to the library to get a book he wanted. At least today he acknowledged that he's not a good passenger.

Neither have I! We were always living someplace else, or overseas, plus for many years never got the info about them. I am friends on FB with one friend I have known since grade school, I'm good.👍🏼💖
I find the concept just awkward for the most part. "Yes lets meet up with friends we haven't talked to since forever, blabbing about our families, accomplishments, over a glass of cheap wine. Totally normal, nothing weird here"! Lol!. I'm sure many do find them awesome, and I am not bad mouthing their experiences, but for me it would just be weird.
