I enjoy reading everyone’s posts with my morning coffee.

9/06- 168.6
9/07- 170.0
9/08- 172.0
9/09- 171.4 I’m at the part of my monthly hormonal cycle where I hang out at the higher end. I suspect I might see some more of those 169’s but it would be a surprise to see any dramatic drops this round.
Yesterday was a fantastic workout day and a full day of housework. Tackled a few small projects on the yearly Fall list (admittedly one of those was left over from the Spring list).
This week is a flat out run everyday to do everything I need to before I take my parents on a road trip Thurs-Sunday to visit my brother’s family.4 -

Round 271 Posts
This is my posting format….
Month/Day: Scale Reading - First thing today after bathroom visit before getting dressed.
/ Logged Food - yesterday; Exercise – yesterday; water - yesterday / Comment
Previous posts:
9/3: 221.6
/no logging; good walk; water unaccounted for/
We bought too much fruit (blueberry and peach) at the farmer’s market, now we need to make pie and cobbler to use it all.
Finished an interesting novel last night called “The Venice Sketchbook” by Bowen. It was a great way to get a preview of Venice. I found myself tracing the story on my Google Map.
9/4: 220.4
/logged a little; exercised a little; drank a little water/
I need to move more.
Evidently, I did not post yesterday. This morning, I see how I had selected and copied the text, but the phone must have rung before I could post.
9/5: 222.4
/logged; exercised; 90 oz water/
Met my goals yesterday and was rewarded with a 2# bump. I cannot complain; I have not met my goals for a while. Need to let my body catch up.
9/6: 219.8
/logged food; exercised; 78 oz water./
I think it helped that I was too busy to go to Rotary yesterday.
NSV: I had a late afternoon doctor appointment 30 miles from home yesterday. I was actually scanning the horizon for a fast-food sign on the way home. Drove by some easy prey but had a moment of clarity at just the right time. It didn’t kill me. My brain said “you are starving!” He lied.
9/7: 221.2
/not logged; exercised; 70 oz water/
We had a “former employer alumni meeting” last night, and I had a Cuban sandwich. I chose the slaw as my side, not FF. I had one more beer than necessary.
Starting to get that compressed feeling right before a trip. Trying to get 10 pounds of stuff to do in a 5 pound bag. I am looking forward to the smaller portion sizes, because if it gets put in front of me, I eat it.
BTW, I can totally relate to the handful of shredded cheese ploy. Anything I can get a handful of is dangerous.
9/2: 223.0

“trying to embrace the fact it is ok to feel hungry”
A friend once suggested to me that feeling “hungry” could be re-framed as feeling “clean”. Whenever I feel “hungry,” I now try to reframe “hunger” to “clean”… it’s a more positive mindset for me…. Hope that helps!
@Chapter_3 I like that.4 -

I like the "ingredient household" comment. With ingredients you can choose to make whatever you want, both healthy and decadent. You can recreate a calorie laden recipe into a lighter version, lower the sodium, or increase the fiber. Ingredients are a secret power!

9/9: 158.0. I'm not sure why my weight is creeping up right now. Maybe a bit of constipation, maybe hormonal reasons. I really feel like I've been doing everything I should be doing lately, but the numbers aren't reflecting it. I hope that the number on the scale will catch up to my efforts soon.
9/10:

Previous Days' Summaries9/3: 157.5. I had a good day yesterday. Ate within calories (including some veggies!) and went to the gym for a short run and some walking on the treadmill. I've been trying to increase water intake, I'm going to start tracking that as well. I'm also lowering my calorie goal a little. What I'm doing now doesn't seem to be working
9/4: 156.1. Finally a drop! It's a relief to see, as I feel like I am doing everything right, and honestly, don't know how much more I can realistically do. I'm going to keep doing what I am doing and hopefully it will continue to drop. I ate within my calories and went for a run.
9/5: It was a good day for me. I ate well and did some intentional exercise. I went to the gym to run on the treadmill again. Although it's only been a few days, it's beginning to feel more like a routine, more normal kind of. I also went for a couple of small walks, as the heat allowed. I'm looking forward to the weather cooling off a bit soon so I can get outside more.
9/6: I'm so happy to see a downward trend. I was getting a little frustrated with lack of results, but I'm glad I trusted the process and kept pushing through. I also think running has helped, I'm wondering if I was eating around maintenance, and the few extra calories burned helped push me into a deficit. Yesterday, I went on one short walk as well as the walk and 2 mile run on the treadmill.
9/7: I'm still trusting the process. I did nothing "wrong" yesterday, so this is just fluctuation. Now on to the weekend... and all of the challenges of making healthy choices that come with it. I hope everyone has a good weekend!
9/8: Yesterday wasn't a great day, but I think it was okay. I was really thirsty for some reason, so I of course drank more water, and I don't think I have shed all of the excess yet. Calories were slightly higher than usual, but still accounted for, and my exercise calories covered it. I also ended the day with one beer which I haven't been doing lately. [\spoiler]5 -
@deepwoodslady Donna, yes, the chocolate still being in the refrigerator is a WIN. Thank you for pointing that out! Sending prayers for your check-ups!3

Sep 3 - 169.6 - I haven't posted since Aug 8 due to an 8mm blocked kidney stone and 2 surgeries. Thank you for the kind get-well wishes! I'm 100% recuperated, and glad to be back. I'll see what my weight does over this round since I first lost 8 pounds, then gained 6 of those pounds back once I did have an appetite again. I haven't worried about tracking or counting calories, but I start back tracking today. Yay! I did have a personal summer challenge going but at this point it's useless with the past 4 crazy weeks. I'm just going to concentrate on being able to exercise again, eating right (and below maintenance), and getting enough water.
Sep 4 - 169.4
Sep 5 - 169.6
Sep 6 - DNW - Got up at 4am - too early for an accurate weight
Sep 7 - 169.6 - hmmm......I haven't been staying below maintenance so really what did I expect - LOL.
Sep 8 - 167.8 - I had a much better day yesterday as far as eating healthy and keeping my calories in check. I'm glad to see the drop but I'm still waiting to see where my weight levels out after my kidney stones and surgeries. I lost a lot of weight from not eating, then most came back once I started eating again (as should be expected), and then another few pounds up after I started eating over maintenance. My body is just trying to figure out what "normal" is right now. I'm glad to have had a good day yesterday and stopped the overeating before I was in a full-out binge. The first day is always the hardest. We shall see.....

Every healthy habit brings me closer to scratching each of these off to NEVER see them again!

SW RND 271 132.0
9/3 132.5 Yesterday’s picnic was a SUGAR STORM! The pulled pork had been liberally doused with extremely sweet sauce. There were baked beans (also sweet) and watermelon. I had some pork with lettuce leaves. For dessert they had cookies. I intended to drink a protein shake before we went but time got away from me. I ate cookies, super sweet pork, and lettuce.
9/4 131.5 Went to Jesse Rae’s BBQ and had REAL pulled pork seasoned with dry rub and smoked, not cooked in sweet sauce. Had my protein shake for dessert, 2 me made jalapeño poppers early. On a side note - we live about 8 miles south of Nellis AFB and I LOVE to hear “the boys” flying. The walls virtually rattle in the proper weather/wind condtions. I’ve had to re-order taking my supplements due to the new to me bone support recommended by retired RN neighbor. It is to be taken away from calcium so I’m taking it when I get up and when I go to bed and taking everything else about 4 hours later in the morning and earlier in the evening.
9/5 133.0 Well, I thought that weight yesterday might be a dream but . . . Wow! Today we’re going to dinner at Golden Corral with friends (their choice) Just stay on the roller coaster and ride. My email was hacked on Monday and it has taken this long to get access! Wouldn’t you think facial recognition and fingerprint would be enough to prove I’m me?
9/6 133.0 Busy day ahead. Why does everyone want to go out to eat with us before we leave on Tuesday? We’ll be gone less than 2 weeks not for months. Golden Corral yesterday even though my stomach didn’t feel good. At least I didn’t make a pig of myself.
9/7 133.0 My stomach feels better and I kept eating in line. I need to put the RS SF candies out of sight but they do seem to have kept things moving! I looked up our flight info and they have changed it. Now leaving earlier and no layover in Dallas, and we arrive in Tulsa 4 hours earlier! @_JeffreyD_ I am relating to your “10# of stuff in a 5# bag” remark.
9/8 133.5 Ate a slice of sourdough, 2 hot dogs (not all beef) and Brussels sprouts. No protein shake.
9/9 133.0 My plan is to drink the 2 shakes I have mixed in the fridge. DH will be on his own.3 -

09/07 -189.0- (Trend weight-191.0-)
09/08 -189.6- (Trend weight-190.9-) Scale is a little bit up as I traveled yesterday with my son for some out-of-town shopping for his food supplies (autistic eating disorders and tactile food issues). Lunch was out. I ate less than half but we did have an ice cream later in the evening before coming home. Some of the ice cream shops have already closed for the season so we had to get it in! Well. I suppose “had to” is a bit strong. Tomorrow I leave for a two day trip to University Hospital for my Mammogram and Oncology appts. It is the yearly check-up for the cancer breast and the mid-year check-up on the cancer-scare breast as they are following up some suspicious stuff on that opposite side. The last check on that was 6 months ago. Because it’s a 4 hour drive each way and the appointments this time are so early it will be an overnight trip for us. There will be restaurants both days and plenty of sitting. I know it’s going to do some damage but what goes up must come down so I will work diligently the rest of the week. I must admit, this small-town girl is looking forward to all that the big city has to offer. I’m really looking forward to getting away from this “construction zone” house too. Don’t forget ladies, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so you’ve got plenty of time to schedule your routine testing. I share because I care!
09/09 -191.0- (Trend weight-190.9-) I normally fluctuate both up and down by about a pound-and-a-half each time there is a change so this is par for the course when I haven’t had the best day. I was served up a lot of stress and depression yesterday and food was my chaser. Ridiculous! I felt like an out of control child. Today is my travel day. I will be home and post tomorrow evening/night. I expect another gain but will work on it the rest of the week. I always say that sometimes I “give in” but I never “give up”. I’m a bit like the Unsinkable Molly Brown. Looking on the bright side, I am still down from start weight in this moment.! Wishing you all a great week filled with lots of SVs and NSVs.

End-of-2024 Goal—weight 170.
Day. Weight/Trend. Comments.

Crazy weekend, but I’m back on track today.
9/05 - 198/197.7
Or not. 😡🥲😳 This bump is from previous days, but still… Well, I can’t change the past, so I’d better focus on right now.
9/06 - 197.6/197.7
Food was fine yesterday. I just feel defeated but fat. And I know I should stop whining, and I’ll try. Tomorrow. 🙂
9/07 - 198.8/198.1
What? Has to be water, although I don’t know why that would be. My calories yesterday were 1345, so that’s not it. Just bizarre.
9/08 - 199/198.8
I gave in to an emotional snackfest yesterday—lots of salt—and dinner was heavier and saltier than usual, so I’m sad about the uptick, but not devastated. That said, I talked to DH about our incompatible food tolerances (meaning he can eat anything and stay thin and I balloon if I look at it) and told him I just can’t continue this way. Conversation isn’t finished, but basically I think we need to make our own meals for a while. He can happily eat all the pasta and butter he wants and I can NOT eat his food. We eat most of our meals together on his very consistent schedule, and that clearly isn’t working for me. Anyway, I’m going to make a big pot of veggie soup today and freeze a bunch so I can pull out and nuke it when I want. I’m also trying again to get back to my long walks, as I think my gut has settled down a bit. I have to stop feeling defeated.
9/09 - 199.2/198.7
I did better yesterday, but still up from the day before. I considered, first, not weighing, then lying, but what would be the point of that? Anyway, I’m starting my good breakfast/no lunch experiment today for a while to see if it makes a difference. In the meantime, I’m getting ready for sweater weather—finished knitting this one last week and thought I’d share. I’m turning knitting into a reward—I have to walk at least half an hour or I’m not allowed to knit.

@SheilaBoneham I realized earlier this year that not only do DH eat wildly different meals but also very different schedules. Most days we line up around dinner time but it’s taken some adjustment for him to be ok when we don’t line up.
These days I sit with him even if I’m not eating but when I was first getting back on track he really did not like me saying “sitting at the table while you eat cues me to eat even if I’m not hungry so I’m not going to sit with you right now”
He never said anything but I could tell by the look on his face that it hurt his feelings a bit. He adjusted!
@Skyleen75 Sounds like us, except since my DH retired, we eat most meals together. He’s very scheduled, not just with meals but especially with meals, and left to my own devices, I would not be so rigid. I would likely eat a good breakfast, brunch, or lunch, and another small meal late in the evening. He has always eaten dinner at 5, which is too early for me, but I fell into his schedule years ago….Meals are our real talking times, so I hate to abandon them, but I have to do something. My first goal is to break the “lunch even if I’m not hungry” habit, starting today. Talk but no eating, or just a piece of fruit. 😊2 -

Unfortunately, it hasn’t exactly worked out that way. I mean he actually bought me a HERSHEY BAR for gosh sake!! (It is still in the refrigerator except the small piece I had the day he gave it to me.) Going to visit DD#1 and family on Tuesday. Heaven help me🙏🙏🙏!
@quiltingjaine If yours is like mine, the Hershey bar is a gift of love, and he doesn’t understand how hard this is. I don’t think my DH even notices whether I’m thin or fat, and he has very little nutritional knowledge, or interest since he’s always been thin.

Has anyone else had an issue with MFP food diary where it keeps adding random calories allegedly earned from exercise? 600 exercise calories appearing even before breakfast, this morning I removed it at breakfast time and now another 710 have appeared?
@musicsax Do you have a Fitbit account connected to your MFP account? I remember seeing a Tech Support post a few days ago, where MFP said it's on Fitbit's end and Fitbit was working to fix it. I don't have mine connected, but I've seen several posts saying these kind of things are happening frequently, so I would guess it's a widespread problem at the moment.2
