I pledge to prioritize each of these #HSF choices EVERY DAY of Sept:
1. P:E: Proteing greater than 1:1 vs. Energy g. [Pg > (Cg+Fg)] (and kcals = avg. maintenance).I will continue this nutrition plan through July. It is supposed to support muscle gain with fat loss while ππΌββοΈπ€ΈπΌββοΈ πΎ. I will continue to track NSVs/macros/ activities, etc. to learn about my body.
2. ππππ§ - I will continue to pray, journal, research. This is my aspect of βleveling upβ because I am nothing without my relationship w/Jesus Christ. Iβve also grown into loving/enjoying learning about my body & healthy aging. Replacing BAD habits w/ GOOD habits is a journey in itself. This practice helps me stay present /mindful of many decisions/ thoughts/ actions that impact not only nutrition, but improves self-talk & interactions w/others.
3. ππΌββοΈthis is my biggest challenge. I still donβt like it. Not one bit. I have some days that it clicks, but itβs a daily struggle. Living βfake it till I make itββ¦ Faking my βidentityβ. My hope is that some ποΈββοΈversion eventually becomes a healthy habit. Iβm working on a minimum of 10-minute βππΌββοΈsnacksβ 2-3x per day, 5x per week. Gosh, how I wish someone, ANYONE would have told me in my earlier years that ππΌββοΈis the key to fat-loss / maintaining - NOT cardio. I was brainwashed.
4. Healthy Aging - includes mobility, flexibility, balance and agility. While I do stretch every morning plus βstretch snacksββ¦ I want to up this gameβ¦ I will start to add βsprintsβ (which is NOW only fast joggingβ¦ π) and plyometrics (celebrating a 2β vertical jump) π. I read to βsprintβ is vital as we ageβ¦..
5. I have much βworkβ to do with family relationships. Wonβt detail here, but itβs a challenge & my overall health will not flourish without this being acknowledged and improved. Mind, body & spirit are connected. I wonβt be fully content until I reconcile this part of my life.
6. Sleep- This is a big one. Iβm usually fast asleep by 8:30-9PM. I canβt stay up laterβ¦. I love getting up early. Iβm good with a 5AM wake up but I want to sleep soundly through the night. Will continue to prioritize this key component to health and well-beingβ¦
7. Have fun⦠lighten up ⦠& give myself permission to be spontaneous. (This is THE HARDEST)!!!!

9/13 131.4 Awful sleep last night. Bummer.
I feel like Iβm on one of those bouncy gyms!
Solid day w/ 14k steps. Will spend today in reflection, prayer and creating the determined mindset for #HSF. I will start to actively show myself some TLC. I π― know that when Iβm off-kilter itβs related to my sleep patternsβ¦. Iβm tired. And when Iβm tired, I lose pretty much all of my joy. Today will be a slow start but Iβll get with it! Letβs do this yall!!!!
For me, if I just returned from an amazing trip, it would take me several weeks to re-enterβ¦ Rest up, and you will be you (your true identity) soon. I view your βrecognitionβ as an NSV. A few small, similar wins and youβre BACK! If I am off a day, or two, or three, I think to myselfβ¦ βOh, *kitten*! Do not go back!!!β DO NOT! Yes, a mind-game and a mindset. Today will be a solid day

Wonderful day yesterday! My βEpiphanyβ gave me energy and direction.
My little bodybuilder ποΈββοΈemoji represents functional strength trainingβ¦ Not full traditional weight lifting, although I incorporate 10, 15 and 20 lb weights. I also focus on using my own body weight and calisthenics. Will fine-tune these exercises. Iβm good with my current macros and PE ratio commitments although will lower fatg a bit - Looking forward!

9/14- DNW I did much better eating yesterday. My plan of keeping busy worked so my lunch was very late. I skipped dinner since when I went to order I realized I wasnβt actually hungry. I normally feel obligated to eat when the family is eating (ahem, letβs not unpack my lifetime of food issues this morning)
Skipped is the wrong word- I replaced dinner with two margaritas!!! I made them with half seltzer so not as bad as it sounds.
I took a great class at the local Y yesterday and am heading off to try another. Everyone here sleeps late so Iβve learned to just do my thing while visiting.
Iβm craving a giant healthy salad for a mid day meal. My goal is to make that happen!5 -

I did drink yesterday and failed to track my intake. But I went for a run and lifted weights at least! I didnβt snack at least. Today Iβll just power walk the dogs, and my 3 year old asked me to e-bike him to school, so I did. Thatβs very light cardio but itβs more than I get while driving!
9/14 - 132.8 ππ»ββοΈβ±οΈ Didnβt make many of my non-scale goals. Iβve always been a procrastinator π My loss today is at least partially dehydration due to alcohol. I drank more than Iβd planned when a friend popped by after dinner. Ugh. Not sure what activity will be today but Iβm hoping to squeeze something in around kid activities!

@SModa61 and @Chapter_3 : Thanks for the encouraging words, it's so easy to revert! Last time I spiraled, I ignored the scale and kept eating whatever was in the house (literally) for the whole 25 lbs.

@judefit1 I can totally relate to what you described. Part of why my goal is to weigh every day is because there is direct correlation between my lifestyle choices and my willingness to step on the scale. If I try to keep pushing the scale, that will at least, hopefully, catch my reversions faster. My other correlation has become, am I showing up here in "JGMTD".5 -
@chapter_3 I just got to keep focusing on making those healthy choices, and be in for the long haul. Scale will do what it will do.
BTW, all, I got out and did a nice walk this morning. Felt good. I need to remember that is does feel good and that I enjoy it. Just another bump to get over.5 -

So I have went back and am using my last known weight as my starting weight for this round (and ending weight for the last). Iβll likely be typing in blue still showing an increased weight tomorrow based on the travel and on my off-plan snacks last night. I really shouldnβt have skipped dinner. It didnβt work out anything like I planned. My bad!

If I am honest, I am not even trying to lose weight. Only half the family was home for dinner so I made pancakes! I have never served up such an unhealthy dinner. Reading the latest comments from this round is helping me refocus. Thank you to everyone who shows up everyday and posts here.

It was pizza night and I stuck to my calorie budget. I ate carrots with my pizza to slow my eating down and it seemed to have worked. I didn't eat any leftovers afterwards like I usually do.

9/15- DNW I achieved my goal of having a big salad for my main meal but Iβm dead positive it wasnβt healthy topped with jalapeΓ±o buttermilk ranch and candied bacon!
That was my only meal but I easily had a thousand calories in snacks and bites throughout the day. There is food every where here and an erratic eating schedule.
I donβt think a few days will do long term damage but I am looking forward to getting home and back to my quiet life.4 -

History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two βkidsβ, who are very much adults, a two grandsons. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an βall in or notβ person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my motherβs care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

9/13 β 135.6 This actually really annoys me. Calories were within 1 calorie of target, and there was even a little over estimating that I went ahead an left. I did do upper body weights for the first time in years, but no notable muscle soreness that might have associated fluid retention. As previously mentioned, my nutritional profile is different than in the past rounds, and I am taking some supplements with an eye to bone health. Iβll give it the full round 272 doing what I am doing before spending time changing what I am doing as IMO it will work.
9/14 β 134.8 Ok, at least I am back to where I started. Digestive system feeling better today. I need to go look back at yesterdayβs diary and see what I did
9/15 β 135.6 Did everything I should yesterday. Got in nice exercise. Tracked everything. Did not cross my calories or eat back my exercise. BUT I did notice overnight that I had tightness in my fingers. That often correlates to sodium.
Yesterday, I went to the mall for a bit. I just never find βmeβ time much for me these days. There is a constant list of undone tasks hanging over my head. This has also been my excuse for poor exercise habits. Gotta sort this all out and make life work better. Back to the point though, I enjoyed doing some βmeβ time even though clothing did not look as I hoped. But that did clarify that I want to get back to where I was just months ago.

When I am in the keys, land is such a skinny stretch with the atlantic on one side and the gulf on the other, that access to "over water sunrise and sunset viewing" are easily possible. For water sunrise, I have to make more effort (couple miles, which I walk to sometimes) while some pretty nice sunsets are viewable from the condo (we are on a harbor, not ocean or gulf, but have a peak through to the gulf)

I pledge to prioritize each of these #HSF choices EVERY DAY of Sept:
1. P:E: Proteing greater than 1:1 vs. Energy g. [Pg > (Cg+Fg)] (and kcals = avg. maintenance).I will continue this nutrition plan through July. It is supposed to support muscle gain with fat loss while ππΌββοΈπ€ΈπΌββοΈ πΎ. I will continue to track NSVs/macros/ activities, etc. to learn about my body.
2. ππππ§ - I will continue to pray, journal, research. This is my aspect of βleveling upβ because I am nothing without my relationship w/Jesus Christ. Iβve also grown into loving/enjoying learning about my body & healthy aging. Replacing BAD habits w/ GOOD habits is a journey in itself. This practice helps me stay present /mindful of many decisions/ thoughts/ actions that impact not only nutrition, but improves self-talk & interactions w/others.
3. ππΌββοΈthis is my biggest challenge. I still donβt like it. Not one bit. I have some days that it clicks, but itβs a daily struggle. Living βfake it till I make itββ¦ Faking my βidentityβ. My hope is that some ποΈββοΈversion eventually becomes a healthy habit. Iβm working on a minimum of 10-minute βππΌββοΈsnacksβ 2-3x per day, 5x per week. Gosh, how I wish someone, ANYONE would have told me in my earlier years that ππΌββοΈis the key to fat-loss / maintaining - NOT cardio. I was brainwashed.
4. Healthy Aging - includes mobility, flexibility, balance and agility. While I do stretch every morning plus βstretch snacksββ¦ I want to up this gameβ¦ I will start to add βsprintsβ (which is NOW only fast joggingβ¦ π) and plyometrics (celebrating a 2β vertical jump) π. I read to βsprintβ is vital as we ageβ¦..
5. I have much βworkβ to do with family relationships. Wonβt detail here, but itβs a challenge & my overall health will not flourish without this being acknowledged and improved. Mind, body & spirit are connected. I wonβt be fully content until I reconcile this part of my life.
6. Sleep- This is a big one. Iβm usually fast asleep by 8:30-9PM. I canβt stay up laterβ¦. I love getting up early. Iβm good with a 5AM wake up but I want to sleep soundly through the night. Will continue to prioritize this key component to health and well-beingβ¦
7. Have fun⦠lighten up ⦠& give myself permission to be spontaneous. (This is THE HARDEST)!!!!

My body truly needs to be dedicated to science. I had a perfect day yesterday I have no clue about this scale this morning. On the one hand Im pissed - on the other hand, totally flummoxed and oh geezβ¦. What can I learn from this? I am learning about my body, and I still have no clue after an entire year!. The only thing I can think of is that I went to sleep much later than usual and ate 2oz of cheese around 8pm. Slept like π©. I do know my body is super sensitive so letβs see what today brings! If I can gain 2 lbs+ in one day WITHOUT REASON maybe I can lose 2lbs+ in one day! π€£

π· 66 yrs young F, 5ft 4 Round 272 (my 202nd). So grateful as always @Quiltingjaine for another round.
This round will be a challenge as we are on holiday in Spain for the whole 10 days, eating in the hotel for 2 meals per day & not being in control of food preparation is always difficult to calculate calories. I CAN do it again if I remain strong.

I need to remain consistent - it does work! Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.***
Updated 20.08.24 β I met up with DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info π. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DP's bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to over indulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so jeopardize that luck.

If I am honest, I am not even trying to lose weight. Only half the family was home for dinner so I made pancakes! I have never served up such an unhealthy dinner. Reading the latest comments from this round is helping me refocus. Thank you to everyone who shows up everyday and posts here.

It was pizza night and I stuck to my calorie budget. I ate carrots with my pizza to slow my eating down and it seemed to have worked. I didn't eat any leftovers afterwards like I usually do.
