@hryan4666 - I had knee surgery in April. I totally get what your going through. I was not so patient and started getting on my bike a bit earlier than the doc probably wanted me to but I also didn't have a knee replacement . I had a meniscus and cartilage debridement . Unfortunately my surgery didn't fix some of the cartilage damage I still have in my knee so I ended up doing some Synvisc injections post surgery. I think it's helped quite a bit and allowed me to get back into finally doing squats and lunges to help build strength back in my quad and hamstrings to help support my knee. If you have any questions about PT or what I found helpful in my recovery, I'd be happy to answer anything I could. Best of luck in your recovery.

Well... I am back from my 5 day vacay. Happy that most of the photos turned out well as I have shaved quite a bit over the last 3 months. Photos look vastly different from the last vacy in June and I am delighted. BUT.... let me give you a run down of the food journey that I have been on so you have a rough idea:

Day 1 - First class lounge food in Airport in the morning, full meal for lunch on flight, 7 course full thai dinner, nachos in hotel lounge for supper. 4,000 calories.
Day 2 - Hotel buffet breakfast, Beef Hotpot for lunch, Cheescake factory (nachos, buffalo wings and cheesecake for tea, Japanese Omakase dinner, 5,000 calories
Day 3 - Hotel buffet breakfast, braised pork noodles for lunch, 13 course thai dinner (Michelin 2 star), 4,800 calories
Day 4 - Hotel buffet breakfast, Ramen for lunch at Tonchin, Mott32 chinese dinner (thought it was 1 star), 4,500 calories
Day 5 - Lounge food in Airport (including chicken rice), followed swiftly by full meal on flight. Tapering off to a lower calorie day but still about 3,000 calories.

On top of the above, I am going full fat coffee, full sugar yoghurt drinks, fruit juices, sweets, desserts, the whole works, adding about 1,000 calories of liquid calories on a daily basis.

TOTAL 5 day calorie count is approximately 26,800 calories. That's normally what I take over 2 weeks!

I did go to the gym everyday to burn off 500-600 calories but I am still eating 3,000 - 4,000 excess calories daily. Which would mean I piled on about 2+ KG over 5 days.... It shows in the scales and more, after accounting for water retention due to high carbs and sodium consumption.

Gonna have to work extra hard to shed the extra weight/fats/water. But I am pretty certain I am going to miss my end September goal. Need to drop 5 KG over 12 days, and even accounting for 1KG of water weight, this is still going to be 5KG of calories to burn off over 12 days.

I effectively erased 3 weeks of progress in just 5 days. I did gym but like they said, you can't outrun a bad diet. Was it worth it? YES.

For my weight today my phone was not connected to our internet and my withing's app didn't pick up the reading . I think it actually read 182.5 but I am not sure I am remembering right. (it was early and I had not had coffee yet !) So in order to avoid disappointment tomorrow I am going conservative and just recording a pound heavier.

I am still hoping I will hit 180 by end of month but it might be tough. As of right now my trend in my app is showing I am down 4.3 lbs in a month. (even with the ups and downs on the scale). Losing much more than that in a month's time, is pretty hard.

I do seem to see weight drops easier with cardio days so I am sure it has something to do with water weight.

    Have great day ya'll!

Gonna record daily for next few days for accountability. Need to recover from the binging. I don't usually don't record extreme fluctuations as it can be due to water weight and simply not having enough mass of food or too much food at any given point in time. I only record what I weigh at a specific time in the morning, usually 7.30am.

Case in point, Just before leaving for my trip, I went on the scale after a workout, and I got to a low of 84.75KG, which I didn't record here because it was definitely after depleting water and glycogen stores. Coming back from my trip, just off my flight, after a ton of food and liquids, I got back home and was astonished to see my weight at 89.55KG. That's 4.8KG difference. 5 days apart. Again, I am not recording the high of 89.55KG. In imperial units, that 10.6 pounds. 5 days. Thankfully, 2 nights later, I have dropped back to 86.4KG. So I probably retained about a 0.9KG/2LB gain for the trip. Not too bad.

Advice from my experience. Don't beat yourself up like I did after a binging stretch. Just get back on the path.

Thank you for understanding! It's amazing how one meal throws everything off -- and of course it's sodium, but still frustrating. I'm back to shakes and salads with a very heads-down day at work.

    Have a great Thursday, everyone.

@dannytrees1, got myself a Samsung watch 7, which somehow gives a rough gauge to your body fat. I kinda bought it just for that purpose on a whim when I was travelling and saw it in the mall.

Today I woke up late and was rushing around, dealing with not only my own morning to do's before work (dogs, laundry, emails) but then my mom needed with with a medical docusign form. I finally ate some breakfast and then remembered I had not weighed.. and now I am not going to bother.

It maddening to me that the healthcare industry is so difficult for seniors to navigate. They don't know how to deal with these technical things and frankly, I don't feel like they should be expected to understand this world of technology at their age. Heck, some of it is hard for me and I work in the technology world.!!

Sept 13 195.5. Been working out and getting my steps. I know stress can stall weight loss but this is crazy. I need to be good this weekend and enter everything I eat and workout. I need to see the sun soon. It has been raining for what seems like 2 weeks straight here in Florida.
Sept 14 195 the scale may be moving slower but I’m feeling stronger and running faster than I have in a while so that’s a great nsv.
