Hi everyone. Andrea here. I'm 53, and trying to get myself back in shape. I've been on MFP for several years, but this is the first time I've consistently used it for logging my food (most of it anyway).π It's helping. So is connecting with other users.π€
Anyway, for the next 10 days I'm just going to be reasonable and set a goal of 2 lbs., walk more and no eating after 9 pm. Let's see how I do.

Morning, 4:54a in NJ, coffee time before heading to gym for strength training before work. I do long walks. 4.5 on average, on Sat&Sun, and do 3-4 days per week with weights. Do walk during week but with hubs and pups so slower and not as far, consider that relaxing cardio not a great workoutπ
I am yo yo queen, have not been below 175 since my oldest born 35 years ago.. highest over years was about 220.. lost a few times dipping toes to 180s..this round, began in May at 212, hit 189 on weekend this week but due to fluctuations ( salt/retention) Iβm 190 today..Iβm good with that as it always comes right back off, I have been 100% on track so I know itβs nothing I can controlπ

Iβm hoping this number is more accurate than yesterdayβs. It is inspiring to make extra good decisions today, try to make this number stick.
I did transfer the summer to fall/winter clothes over the weekend. I had to take the opportunity although I was nervous about my pms emotions making it hard to try things on. Last winter the struggle to dress myself was very difficult and depressing.
Things fit so much better and I had pile of βtoo bigβ. NSV!
As I packed up my summer clothes I set the intention of having some of those be too big by the time I get them out again.7 -

I pledge to prioritize each of these #HSF choices EVERY DAY of Oct:
1. P:E: Proteing greater than 1:1 vs. Energy g. [Pg > (Cg+Fg)] (and kcals = avg. maintenance).I will continue this nutrition plan. It is supposed to support muscle gain with fat loss while ππΌββοΈπ€ΈπΌββοΈ πΎ. I will continue to track NSVs/macros/ activities, etc. to learn about my body.
2. ππππ§ - I will continue to pray, journal, research. This is my aspect of βleveling upβ because I am nothing without my relationship w/Jesus Christ. Iβve also grown into loving/enjoying learning about my body & healthy aging. Replacing BAD habits w/ GOOD habits is a journey in itself. This practice helps me stay present /mindful of many decisions/ thoughts/ actions that impact not only nutrition, but improves self-talk & interactions w/others.
3. ππΌββοΈthis is my biggest challenge. I still donβt like it. Not one bit. I have some days that it clicks, but itβs a daily struggle. Living βfake it till I make itββ¦ Faking my βidentityβ. My hope is that some ποΈββοΈversion eventually becomes a healthy habit. Iβm working on a minimum of 10-minute βππΌββοΈsnacksβ 2-3x per day, 5x per week. Gosh, how I wish someone, ANYONE would have told me in my earlier years that ππΌββοΈis the key to fat-loss / maintaining - NOT cardio. I was brainwashed.
4. Healthy Aging - includes mobility, flexibility, balance and agility. While I do stretch every morning plus βstretch snacksββ¦ I want to up this gameβ¦ I will start to add βsprintsβ (which is NOW only fast joggingβ¦ π) and plyometrics (celebrating a 2β vertical jump) π. I read to βsprintβ is vital as we ageβ¦..

Feeling very bloated this morning and Iβm not sure why, but it will pass. Iβm going to track in my posts this round a couple of goals to help me stay focused, so Iβll be experimenting with a system to do that. This week will be hard. We are putting our sweet lab, Sugar, down this morning, then on Thursday, we have the Celebration of Life for my parents (Mom died during Covid, so we are combining her service with Dadβs per his wishes). I expect Iβll have to fend off a lot of emotional eating this week, beginning today! Bought some Winesap apples in the mountains this weekend and made cinnamon apples with Swerve yesterday. Love to snack on those a spoonful or two at a time. Hope everyone has a great round.

9/23 - 136.6 π«β±οΈ Hello, weekend weight! I'm sure a lot of this is water, but I think I'm getting to the point in my cycle where my body likes to hold onto that for a little while. At least if my annoyance at DH is any indication (it usually is, lol). It was a lovely family weekend, though. We had the famer's market, halloween decorating, a small music festival in a cool little hippie enclave 40 minutes away, and apple picking with my dad and step-mom. But of course we also had the restaurant meals that being busy usually entails. I meal planned and grocery shopped yesterday afternoon, however, so I feel prepared for the week ahead. Most of my goals are the same this round but I decreased the number of intermittent fasting days. When I lift in the morning I like to eat breakfast afterward. I missed my alcohol-free goal by a day so I'm going to repeat my goal of 5 days. Honestly DH is an awful influence in this area. It's definitely a lot easier to not drink when we're both not drinking, but right now that goal is not on his radar, and I can only lead by example. Today my activity will be dog walking and weight lifting.

I hate entering recipes into MFP and then estimating how much of it I ate. I know, I know, that's the whole thing, but I find it exhausting. Anyway my non-scale goals are off to a good start for the week. Today's workout will be some kind of cardio. The weather is funky so I may finally start the Peloton equipment back up again. For some reason indoor cardio has been unappealing to me lately. I haven't used my treadmill or bike since we went to Colorado in May. I know I'll enjoy it once I get on it. @UTMom81 Thinking of you today with such admiration for your strength. I pray that you find comfort in the celebration of life for your parents. Such a tremendous loss but it is so nice to hear that they can be celebrated together. I hope you will feel all the love they had for each other and for you.
I am so sorry that the time has come for Sugar to be taken to the bridge. She is certainly beautiful and I well know how pets become very important parts of our family and how big the loss is when it is their time. 09/23 -193.8- (Trend weight -193.6-) No change probably due to no TMI. Overall it was a good day yesterday. No formal exercise but I did do more yard work/fall cleanup. Today Reno group #1 will work on adding the vinyl siding to the dormers upstairs since the roof is done. They will also be replacing the fascia all around the house. Itβs beginning to come together. Group #2 will probably work on completing the deck although itβs wet outside so Iβm not sure. The deck on the side of the house off my bedroom doorwall is done so now I have a small coffee deck facing the woods that I know Iβm going to love in the early mornings. Good luck for success everyone.Achieved goal weigh of 125lb in summer 2016 by losing 66lb and then gradually gained between 7 and 11 since then & didn't want to gain any more, itβs taken me 75 rounds to achieve target of 130 = back to maintenance!! But then I crept up again, so need to get back to around 134. A healthy lifestyle must be a permanent way of life.***
Updated 20.08.24 β I met up with DB, first time after his DP passed away at the way too early age of 46. DB lives a long way from us, we see him very infrequently & is very introvert, so not a sharer of info π. However, he finally opened up to me, it seems that his DPs bad health leading to heart failure followed by kidney, liver failure & then a massive stroke, was originally caused by heavy drinking. By the time he realised he was abusing his body and went teetotal, the damage was too late to reverse. He was on the list for a heart transplant, but his other organs gave up before one became available.
This has made me think about how I am abusing my body when I have binges with way too much sugar, fat & salt. I know I am a food addict. I'm going to try to think about this when I am tempted to over indulge, I need to start respecting my body more and think about whether I want to be in the best health I can be. My body has served me so well for 66 years, it deserves to be given the best chance to keep serving me well & I've been really lucky that life has not dealt me a raw health deal, so jeopardize that luck.

History:Harry and Han are our cats, who travel with us. Have two βkidsβ, who are very much adults, a two grandsons. We have two parents, 87(mother), 85(MIL) still with us, and I have logically been needing to help them more as they age. I got my act in gear during COVID, somewhat inspired by NOT becoming my parents. I lost 30 lbs and was exercising daily. Unfortunately, I am an βall in or notβ person. Hubby and I seeing our family home and downsizing distractions, plus medical incident with my father and all their new needs, became an excuse (father has since passed and I am DPOA, Personal representative AKA executor, trustee, and oversee the majority of my motherβs care). A year and a half later, I gained 25 lbs and lost all my athletic improvements. I need to figure out balance and how to make health be a daily priority for life!

@UTmom81 - This does sound like a tough week. I am so sorry you will be losing Sugar. I know that i am very bonded to my pets. I hope that your celebration of life brings back many happy memories for both you and your family.
@Pezhed - My lazy way of tracking a recipe is to sometimes only track the important ingredients. For instance if I were making a recipe and eating a forth of it, I would track 1/4 of the protein, 1/4 of any of the fats, 1/4 of any starches. it can be pretty quick. That is also how I often track a restaurant dish. On Saturday, I ordered chicken cacciatore made with chicken breast and served over baby spinach. Your thumb is about 1 ounce of protein, so I counted how many "thumbs" of chicken I could see. Estimated there was about a cup to tomato sauce, and then tracked guesses for each of the notable vegetables - I think I only did the spinach and the onion, and left off the mushrooms and few red peppers.

@SModa61 thanks! Yes, that makes sense. I do sometimes do similarly and just add in something for cooking oil/butter. When I tracked my dinner in that way last night I just got really frustrated with the whole thing. Maybe it was just frustration with myself that I had racked up so many calories at dinner!5

The Zumba class last night was great but also a reminder that I need to be slower at getting back to the gym. In the past, I've gone too fast and too hard and was eventually working out 3-4 hours a day for 6 days a week. Effective but very, very unhealthy.
This time, I'm introducing it slower into my routine. This week I'm only going to focus on two days of Zumba (Monday and Friday) and two days of weights (Tuesday and Sunday) in addition to the daily walk. Next week I'll add in an aqua class and my favorite WERQ class.

09/24 - 240.4 / It appears that my sodium overload from the weekend is slowly coming off, even as PMS bloating has begun. I'm 0.4 pounds away from being under a BMI of 40!! This morning I walked a mile and spent 20 minutes lifting weights over lunch.
