@ cschmitz110515 - Oh my.. what a day you had! But congrats on getting the 5K race in! I only did one.. but I didn't like it. I love to walk, but I felt pressured to walk much faster than I am used to! Ha .. guess I should be walking faster!! But great job

    Sat. 10/6
    1. log all food
    2. concentrate on protein, carbs, sugar, calories, water
    3. tiny habits: drink water each bathroom break
    4. go to gym.
    5. gym or bike ride if time

Did not get goals posted last nite.. I was so exhausted all day. I did power washing for 2 days in a row, and I think at age 73, just too much. Physically exhausted. I got up and went to the gym, but only lasted 30 minutes. The rest of the day.. just lazy, and ate way too much. Hubby and I eat breakfast together, but he took so long in the shower, I was hungry. Ended up eating 2 pieces of cinamon raisin bread before he came out.. then had my yogurt. Lunch was good, but when I am tired,I crave carbs for some reason. I won't even say how many pieces of raisin bread I ate today.. But.. my carbs were 151!
So, need to watch it better tomorrow, and hoping to get to the gym for a better workout.

Didn't get around to setting goals today, but I still logged my food and got some exercise in. My sister drove up for the weekend, and we spent a few hours walking among the sunflowers at a local flower farm. The weather was gorgeous - nearly 80 with a light breeze - and our food truck lunch of lobster rolls and fresh lemonade made it seem like summer. Even with a few small treats and a cocktail before dinner, I somehow managed to stay under maintenance, so that's a small win.

@cschmitz110515 - Glad you had a good race in spite of the day's challenges :)

@cschmitz110515- you had quite the start of your day but way to get through it and get that goal achieved. Well done!

Yesterday was our anniversary so we took a drive to see some fall scenery and just enjoyed the day together with out being on a schedule. Nothing fancy. caught up with some friends in the evening over a campfire, enjoyed a glass of wine , ate a few almond chocolate candies, and then retired to eat leftovers for a late dinner. It was a great day.

Since I was definitely not drinking enough water yesterday my JFT is:
    Drink lots of water today
    Do a HARD workout
    Do some housework
Put hoses and patio furniture away for winter

    Recap 10/5 Sat. ~ Bellin Women's Half Marathon & 5K (I walked in the 5K)
    1) 5K race :star: Chilly start at 39F but I warmed up quickly, happy no breeze. Chip time of 49:18 & very happy me! / 263/381 / 13/18 F65-69 / ave. pace first half 16:24 & second half 14:47 / overall ave. pace 15:52
    2) Log all food (guess at post-race refreshments) / make meatloaf (if ground beef defrosted) & cheesed cauliflower, otherwise leftover stuffed pepper for supper / net calories zero / 80 oz. water :p Without going to farmers market I was out of a few things, ended up eating fast food for lunch. Not really the plan. At least I shared my fried with hubby & dog. Net calories red, light on water. Will do better next day.
    3) Farmers market ~ missed due to race & other issues / vote for Coolest Thing / read / digital declutter / schedule cc pmt / call Mom <3 / shower before bed too tired / set alarm (I'm doing readings at 7:45 & 10:30 church) / other? downloaded cc txns, updated budget s/s, make bank xfer  TA-DA!

JFT 10/6 Sun. ~ very windy, high temp may reach 62F, taking day off from walking dog (good thing we have a large fenced-in backyard)
    1) Church 7:45 & 10:30 / Old Testament & Epistle readings for LWML Sunday / school addition dedication 12:00 & open house / help pack up display table & carry to J&K's car
    2) Min. 5000 steps / PT exercises? (I have really been lazy about this)
    3) Log all food (guess at snack cup from open house) / make meatloaf & cheesed cauliflower for supper / net calories zero / 80 oz. water
    4) Switch out decor to fall / pack up/recycle boxes from new TV hook-up / wash dishes / vote for Coolest Thing / read / digital declutter / Packers v. Rams 3:30(ish?) / other?

Thanks for the comments on my race yesterday. I love reaching pace and time goals during such events, because that gives me something to shoot for (absolutely not happening on walks with the dog). Makes me think I still have my get up and go! Hope some got a chuckle out of all my travails... they really were self-induced, if only I'd given myself more time. I'm just not a morning person. Lesson learned, for now. LOL

This morning, I did the Bible readings at 2 church services. Mic had been turned on for earliest service, and I could be heard but faint, not high enough volume I later learned. During the entire Epistle reading, a fly first landed & walked around on my printed reading, then buzzed around my head. I tried to shoo it, but didn't want to lose my place reading (or look like an idiot). Later, both Vicar John and Pastor H said they had noticed, but I "did fine." Later service went better, volume was turned up & no fly. Numerous people told me I did well, at each service, which was nice to hear. It's been a long time since I've been up in front of a large group. I really didn't want to make a mess of it.

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    66 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26. Ppl
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
      * moussaka America's Test Kitchen tv show ~ very tasty, nice size portions & filling, though complicated with four distinct layers & many prep steps ~ nice to have an alternate eggplant recipe
      * peach cobbler (BH&G) used qt fresh peaches grown in Ripon
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]

April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]
May: 6 days x2wks, 3x3 [fit days in around 2 overnight trips & visit on Mother's Day]
    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x2, 3x1 {a lot of very hot/humid days}

      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July / Aug / Sept /
      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run

Super busy day.. washed all cars, worked in the yard digging up cannas and doing year end cleanup. But.. I got a good 90 minute workout in the morning, and still managed to get a bike ride in before dark.
My daily goals are going to be all the same until I get these habits changed. Working on getting the carbs and sugar down.. ha.. carbs is hard though!

    Mon 10/7
    1. log all food
    2. concentrate on protein, carbs, sugar, calories, water
    3. tiny habits: drink water each bathroom break
    4. go to gym.

Weekend was really good. We went to Pittsburgh Saturday to watch S row. We took the pup and had a great day. Walked over 15k steps as opposed to my usual 5k in a day, which may have partially made up for the decadent lobster mac & cheese I had for lunch. Then we went back to my daughters apartment to visit and introduce her pups to Merlin. They had a grand time. We had one tired puppy by the end of the day.

Five pound challenge is a little iffy right now. I said I would weigh in on Mondays, but it's been so long since I weighed, I couldn't locate my scale. From the fit of my clothes, I'm guessing I may have broken into the 200's. If that isn't motivation, I don't know what is!

Was feeling a bit under the weather this morning, so I took a couple hours of vacation to see if my tummy would settle. It did a little, so now I'm at work and catching up on a few things.

Tim took the day off and is doing laundry & making chili for dinner. If I skip dipping Chili Cheese Fritos into I'll save myself a ton of calories. Depending on how I feel we may go to trivia tonight.

    JFT Monday

Don't feel ashamed about your thoughts before your parents visited.
I think it's normal to be uneasy about the unknown!!

When I had post natal depression 10 years ago. ALL my thoughts were warped so I had to go to CBT. She made me go out and do certain social events. But I had to write how I felt before and how I felt afterwards. It never went how I expected it to. Except the mum's and baby's clubs..that went exactly as I was expecting hahaha awful.

Yesterday's attempt to choose healthier meals went awry when I stopped at a new place for lunch. I skipped all the overstuffed sandwiches and ordered what looked like a healthy salad - romaine, olives, and shaved parmesan topped with grilled chicken. I chose the smaller size, skipped the croutons and drizzled on a tablespoon of lemon vinaigrette. Unfortunately, the chicken breast was brined and ridiculously salty, and the overly generous helpings of olives and cheese just made it worse. Even leaving half the toppings in the bowl, I was thirsty all day. Oh, well, at least I had no problem getting my waters in :D

Today's another day and I will NOT be eating out.

Ate dinner at home last night before going out to trivia. We got third. Stayed and watched the first half of the football game, then headed home. Apparently Merlin had an upset tummy and pooed in the kennel, then walked and laid in it. So Tim grabbed him to bathe him and I started inside clean up. Boy it was a mess. After getting things mostly clean we put the kennel outside and sprayed it down with water and Lysol. During which time he pooed in the floor. Poor boy was having a rough evening. It was gross, but my floors are clean now.

He seems to be doing better this morning so we took him to doggie daycare. I had a few meetings this morning including a Safety Meeting for all of my employees. I always try to bring snacks to these. Today I went to the cafeteria and got sausage biscuits and bacon biscuits thinking it would be cheaper than stopping and McDonald. Boy was I shocked when they totaled the bill 16 biscuits with meat only, no eggs or cheese, was almost $60. They were $3.50 a pop. I thought it would be more like $2.50 at the work cafeteria. I could have gotten McD's for cheaper. Crazy, but I had already ordered them. Oh well.

    2) Leftovers for supper / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz. water  Yay! Net calories green 300 & 64 oz. water, resulted in loss on my daily weigh-in... if only I'd keep this up LOL

    JFT 10/8 T
    1) Make soup, maybe cornbread for supper / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz. water
    2) Min. 5000 steps / PT exercises
    3) Do not stress about *kitten*
    4) Make vet appt for dog ~ earliest we can get her in is tomorrow morning, at higher cost due to urgent care charge, but she's worth it. :'(
    5) 2 loads laundry washed & hanging out to dry / vote for Coolest Thing / download & rehearse with recording for Sunday women's choir / read / digital declutter / call Mom / other?

Dog has what appears to be a large blister between her front toes. Started last night & we treated & wrapped best we could to keep her from constantly licking. She's not favoring the foot or leg & it seems a bit better this morning, so that's good. We'll have to keep on her to not lick.

Today is my dad's surgery so lots of anxiety and lack of focus. I did get my workout in (upper body day) but it didn't feel challenging.
My friend who is a coach that I agreed to go into her 3 month coaching program is hounding me on how to drill down to get more precise and consistent with my calories/macros. I am apparently supposed to be within 5-10 grams of my macros every day and she wants me to be logging all my meals ahead of time so I know how to adjust (like a day or two at a time ahead) I don't feel like I have to be that exact ??? I have managed to lose alot of weight since July so I must be doing ok but apparently I am not doing things totally right. I do have days where I just flat don't hit my numbers . The suggestion to correct this is to basically eating close to the same thing every day to get to consistency. If I don't then long term I am going to go back to gaining . :# and get into bad habits again. I honestly feel like I have slayed alot of those dragons and have tools to manage long term.

Anyone out here have thoughts on this? or experience with something similar?
