@canadamarie look at us… I’m 1 single pound heavier than you.
I believe you are doing great
    You have lost 12 pounds.
You are part of our team here.
I understand it’s the spooky month for most of us πŸ‘»πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸwe are having our ups and downs…don’t be hard on yourself… give yourself a pat on the back for what you have accomplished… your almost at your goal for this month 😁
Keep on keeping on it will get better
    I promise πŸŒ΄πŸŒ΄πŸŒ΄πŸπŸπŸπŸπŸπŸŽƒ

@ManifestingToday wow look at youπŸ‘πŸ˜You got the pedal to the metal
    Keep it going…. Love itπŸπŸπŸπŸŽƒπŸŒ΄

I’m no expert and I my work out is all natural… working on the farm gets me between 2000 to 4000 steps a day.
I don’t drink alot of water, but I should start to.
    Portions: keep them down
    Sodium: keep that down
Giggle juice: keep that down too
Salad with chicken… I freeze chunks of chicken (cooked)
My mornings 6 days a week are a smoothie with some greens in there.
    No snacking after supper
Log your food : keep within your limit.
I’m on a mission to get to my ultimate goal… a few rivers to cross
    Especially this crazy month
    But it’s a fun journey
This group is the best group on mfp
We got this…. One step at a time.
    Happy fall everyone
    Have a great weekπŸπŸπŸπŸŒ΄πŸŒ΄πŸŒ΄πŸŽƒπŸŽƒπŸ‘»πŸ‘

@Michieb125 I hope you are or did have fun camping. Good for you on leaving the candy home. We didn't buy any candy to hand out for Halloween because we know we can't be trusted. We skipped the past couple of years, and just turn out the lights.

@HappyDonkey75 Thank you for the kind words. I hope you see some shifts past this recent plateau soon! It will happen, it's just taking time. You have such a strong mindset, so I know you're going to break through this.

@dannytrees1 Thank you for always being positive, and thank you for the kind words. I appreciate your shares. You have been such an inspiration to us here.

@skintight303 Hang in there. Hopefully you'll see the scale going the other way again soon. It can happen for so many reasons. Just keep going.

I'm off to my calls. Have a great Thursday, everyone.

Even though I’m feeling uninspired the scale went back down a bit. What a roller coaster. I know the scale isn’t everything, but when you’ve got a long way to go, at an intentionally slow pace, before being in a healthy range, quantifiable progress is something you cling to.
And I’m ok with that πŸ‘πŸ»

The hubby's cold (which he thought was allergies at first) is now wreaking havoc with me. Usually he gets a cold and I get something way worse. Yesterday I felt it coming on, took lots of extra C, Zinc and D but it may have been too little too late. Last night it hit pretty hard so today just trying to get through the work day . Thank goodness I work from home and can work while sitting wrapped up in my heated blanket with a cup of tea.

Need to change batteries in my withings scale. Maybe that will surprise me with a lower number? one can hope

@dannytrees1 - you are so helpful in seeing all your positivity. Really appreciate that. and I agree, best group out there on MFP!

Looks like alot of you all are getting back on track a bit.. YAY ! Keep going everyone..

@canadamarie Yay! I'm glad that blip is over with. And I agree, the scale number isn't the only measure, but it's frustrating when it's suddenly going up.

@dannytrees1and @HappyDonkey75, Both of your progress is really inspiring. I'm still way back here at your starting weights. Thank you for showing it can be done with persistence and determination.

HappyDonkey75, I hope you are feeling better soon.

    Happy Friday, everyone.

@ManifestingToday - look at you though, getting back on track and killin it...you got this! PERSERVEREANCE is half the battle I have learned so much about myself and being part of this group. It can sometimes feel like your on an island during the process of trying to change your lifestyle and be healthy so its so nice to have this group to know, we are all out here working hard to get to a better version of ourselves. Losing weight and getting healthy is not a linear process (BIG REALIZATION for me)
here are some things I have had to incorporate that are hard at times but keep me on track
    • Eat before 7:30 pm and no after dinner snacks
    • Get all my protein and meal goals figured out early in the day, log it and eat those things I logged
    • 90-100 ounces of water a day
    • Electrolytes - surprising these really help
    • FIBER (fiber drinks help)
    • B vitamins, specifically B12 methylcobalamin which I like in a liquid form
    • get 10K steps daily
    • DON'T do Mindless snacking during the day- I did alot of this in between meetings and didn't realize what it adds up to in calories, even when its healthy type foods (dried mangos)
    • Get 7-8 hrs sleep (which means I turn off my devices by 8:00 pm and read a book to wind down)
    • I am very sensitive to salty foods so I limit these
    • Eat alot broccoli and cauliflower- fills me up quickly and is great nutrient wise, its cheap to buy and can be prepared so many ways
    • Meal plan for the week
I realized I absolutely cannot eat the same way my spouse does so we only eat 1-2 meals a week that are the same. I eat way less red meat then him.

I'd love to see what some others do that might be helpful

I like to make things easy for me to eat..
I use alot of frozen veggies
The fresh ones don’t last for me.
I’m big on smoothies in the mornings.
Bananas I peel, cut in half… into a baggie and freeze
Broccoli… I buy it frozen… just throw a couple of chunks in the blender and life is good
    Plus frozen strawberries
    Blueberries
    All frozen vitamins
    It’s working for meπŸ‘
2 more pounds and I will have lost 30 pounds… this is since I found our group here July 1st.
Keep it going everyone… let’s get this spooky month of October done

Oct 194 This month there is a lot going on. This weekend is my hubby’s birthday weekend and we will be in Orlando for 3 days. Then later on I have a week long cruise. So I’d love to lose but the real goal is to not gain anything.

    Oct 4 196
Oct 11 196 I’m ok with this. Was out of town for a holiday weekend for my hubby’s birthday. Glad to have power today. Only lost it for a few minutes Wednesday night.
Oct 18 198! WTH! Hopefully just pms. I’m off on my cruise tomorrow. So needed. Work has been crazy and will only get crazier. We always take the stairs and never the elevator and I will hopefully make good food choices most of the trip. Have a great weekend
    everyone!
Oct 26 198 not as bad as I thought. Cruise was great. Made sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies and walk a lot and use the stairs as much as possible.

I had to work late last night, so I didn't get any workout in. I did a 10-min dance party with my coffee in the kitchen this morning, 120 BPM, just trying to get moving ahead of a morning meeting. I will workout today though.

@HappyDonkey75 and @dannytrees1 - thank you for sharing what you've been doing. I told my husband I need to stick with salad/chicken for my big meal this weekend and skip the other stuff we tend to do, though I am going to allow a pastry from the bakery today. I am trying to up my step count -- I'm doing 1.5-2 treadmill miles a day; I don't think I can get to 4mi/10,000 steps - my feet complain already, and I've tried different shoes (high-end walking vs. running), different inserts, splitting up the workouts. That's why I keep trying to work biking back into it. 20-30 min on the bike, plus 1-2 mi on the treadmill can get me there. I'll just keep trying.

Hi @canadamarie, @jennigerding19, anyone else popping by! I hope the weekend is off to a good start.

Wow, I don't know if I believe this number today but I weighted three times and it was the same... that's 1.5 lb difference overnight .

I did get my hair cut yesterday so maybe its the hair.. LOL

I have been sick so drinking a ton of herbal tea. Diet has been consistent on protein and other macros so hoping it all means I am getting some traction going again.. Fingers crossed.

@ManifestingToday - I have alot of foot issues that often cause me issues with walking and with my knee I have to be careful too, but I recently tried a pair of Brooks Ghost max shoes. They have really helped. Not cheap but worth it to be able to be on the treadmill and not be in pain.

@HappyDonkey75 you are so right, perseverance!! I too have learned so so much since joining this group in June. And I have never lost weight so consistently before. The key for me has been writing it here every day and I get to see how my hormonal patterns affect progress. It teaches me patience and allows me to focus on the long game.

    Here’s what I’m doing consistently.
    -1200 calories a day
-Three meals a day, no snacks no grazing
-Cut way down on booze and replace with low sugar non alcoholic wine
-Vitamin D, iron, fish oil, ginger, magnesium, electrolytes
-8 hours sleep and before bed I put my legs up to calm the body and help fluid retention

I’m doing other stuff like higher protein intake, some exercise, but not as consistently. Also mostly gluten free for health reasons but it tends to lower carbs naturally.

You guys are killing it, keep going!!

@HappyDonkey75 I truly hope you are feeling better soon.

As for shoes, I've been wearing Brooks for years. I am currently bouncing between an older pair of Addiction Walkers and newer Adrenaline running shoes. The Addiction Walker was my best shoe, but they changed it recently and the reviews are not good. I wasn't interested in sinking $125 on a pair to find out they were bad, but I might end up having to replace my older ones (which I think are leather; the new ones aren't).

@canadamarie thank you for sharing what's working for you, too! You've had amazing progress too, and I'm so happy for you.

It's another work day today, but I still plan to work out again this evening. If I can manage walking 6 days a week, this might get me closer to things. I know this drop is going to level off at some point soon, but right now it is giving me drive to keep going.

    What I'm doing so far:
    - 1400 calories, either pre-logging, or deciding where calories will go at start of day
    - Minimum of 1.5 miles on the treadmill
    - 3 meals, 1 snack. Breakfast is dialed in; lunch is a shake with some pretzels to feel full; dinner for now is salads with chicken; or huge plate of veggies with chicken (peppers & squash w/chicken). Like @dannytrees1, we cook & freeze chicken in batches so we can just defrost and throw onto salads.

@Michieb125 Welcome back, I hope the weather was perfect for camping.

Have a great rest of the weekend, everyone.

@ManifestingToday - I am also seeing the pre logging meals helps me alot. Then its easier to adjust things if needed before I even have my day started. It looks like your really getting things figured out . Good luck with sorting out the shoes. Foot pain is the worst and having to buy those expensive shoes for foot issues is very annoying at times! My cold is hanging on for the long haul, thought I was getting better yesterday and probably over did it and paid for it overnight..

    Michieb125-welcome back

@canadamarie- thank you for sharing what has been working for you as well. Its fun to see if I can implement some other ideas that might be helpful. I have slowly upped my protein intake and seeing if that is going to help. I find I have to have two snacks in a day to hit my numbers because I can't eat enough in one sitting to get it all in 3 meals. I feel like I eat every two hours just to make sure I get it all in at 1500 calories per day.

    Sunday greetings!

@Happydonkey, @ManifestingToday75, and @canadamarie and anyone I missed - thank you for the warm welcome back…weather was beautiful as I had hoped.

I am eager to check in here more regularly with you here to give and receive support!
I am on the west coast in CA so my posts might come in a little later in the day.
I’m also married and have grandchildren that live in our neighborhood - I’m so blessed.

I love Brooks running shoes as well, and have the adrenaline and ghost in my closet and are well used. I agree, the fit has changed so much and harder to find that perfect shoe for me. I am currently seeking a new pair!

What I am re-starting (and need more accountability): I was at 145 in July for a family reunion then had loads of summer bbq’s and went on a cruise early this month - you guessed it I slowly put back on 4 ish lbs.

    Goals:
1200 calories a day for a caloric deficit (over 1-2 times a week by 250 is acceptable)
Aim for 90-100 in protein macros - must have a 20 gm protein shake to hit this but doing well
3 meals a day - Fage with berries and granola for breakfast, lots of chicken over salads, tuna, eggs and carbs under 130 grams a day
Snacks: popcorn in coconut oil 3 x a week, apple slices and peanut or almond butter, handful of nuts and occasional dark chocolate. Pretzel sticks if a salty snack attack happens.

Exercise: Pilates and Barre 2x a week and 3-4 miles of walking a day
I used to have wine regularly each week but have been steadily cutting way back - I know it’s counterproductive to my weight loss goals!

Like you, I have more success when I plan meals in advance and have the ingredients on hand and ready to go.
Will do some meal planning for 5 days and get to the grocery store today to stock up on lean protein and vegetables.

Tonight is fish tacos with cod (made at home) with cabbage, and avocado on Siete tortillas.

Oct 28 200. Not sure what’s up with that. Maybe it’s from starting working out again. Hope it’s just that.

@canadamarie Congrats on the new low! @jennigerding19 Hang in there; it will go down again. @Michieb125 You're doing great, and it looks like you have a solid plan and routine - you've got this. And who knew a bunch of us were on Team Brooks for shoes, lol. @HappyDonkey75 I am very sorry you're not feeling better. Have you tested to make sure it's not Covid? It's mutated so many times, it can mimic cold symptoms. I hope you start to see the symptoms waning. <3

Have a great start to the week, everyone.

@ManifestingToday - I did test yesterday because I thought the same thing, negative. So atleast I feel ok about traveling that way. Its so so hard to see those numbers bounce around on the scale when all we want to see is the downward trend. I don't know if you use an app/watch/tracker of some kind but on my Withings scale app, it shows me weekly, monthly trend. It helps me to see the big picture when the day to day is not moving or not moving in the right direction. All the "experts" say Weighing daily is actually not the best thing to do, but personally I am OCD and want that feedback! Hang in there and ride it out.. As you know the increase in activity also cause water retention and my body loves to retain water!

    Morning all:

I know I’m late to the β€œgive me a month” party but you all are so inspiring as I read your progress.

@canadamarie you have surpassed your Oct. goal and are doing so well!
@Happydonkey75 way to stick to your plan - wow almost to goal. Hope your cold dissipates soon so you can enjoy your trip. I agree that the big picture helps when I feel stuck. Looking back a year or more helps too!
@ManifestingToday - you’re down nearly 6 more, so very inspiring!
@jennigerding19 - weight fluctuates all the time depending upon so many variables. Funny how mine also seems to go up when I increase my weights, grrrrrrr.
    @dannytrees1 - I like your positive attitude!

This month was a challenge with several birthdays and two mini getaway trips - meaning extra goodies (which are now out of the house). But at least I didn’t gain. Yesterday, I went over my caloric goal by 148 calories. I need to get back to not eating anything after dinner.

I’m now feeling motivated for November!

Two more days for the trick or treaters…. Be nice… remember there for the kiddies, not us.
The spooky month is almost gone.
We all had our ups and downs
But on the other hand we all did pretty good… and stuck with it
And always remember to have fun with our adventure.
    Have a great day everyone
