Lady Magenta *Update* I am no longer lonely here, now I feel I belong

I have lost 30 lbs in 75 days. The scale showed 318 lbs today in the morning. I started at 348 in September.
I don't even know if weight loss is the most important achievement right now. So much has changed. It seems it finally 'clicked', and I am in command of the food I eat. Perhaps I finally understood that food is fuel, not entertainment (even though I find trying new recipes wildly entertaining).
- My glucose in the morning is now between 80-85. I am no longer pre-diabetic.
- My blood pressure was 123-86 today. Taking blood pressure meds is off the table.
- I can breathe easier.
- I have cut out added sugar completely and it seems to work the same way it did when I quit smoking. After two weeks of yelling voices in my head, that demanded sweets the same way they demanded nicotine, the voices stopped whispering "sweet nothings" in my ears, and they got quieter.
- I am mercilessly sticking with my meal plan and have made myself the #1 priority for the first time in decades. I weigh and log everything.
I was always searching for the secret supplement, the magic recipe that would help me lose weight. I even considered appetite suppressants and other pills they make advertisements for. None of it is needed. It's all me. I had it in me all this time. I am so glad I said "NO" when my doctor recommended Ozempic.
But most importantly, I had a fall, and I fell hard. Right after my 61st birthday, the day after I stumbled over a carpet corner, fell forward on my left knee, and landed face down on the rug. Alone at home, I knew I had to get up quickly. I held onto the buffet next to me, put some weight on my right leg, and pulled myself up. From there I hopped to the next chair. My knee had taken a beating. That night I ended up in the emergency room. It's a deep bruise (bone and muscle) but nothing is broken.
I could get up. That feels like a miracle. Any person who is my size and my age fears falling, because we fear we can't get up. It takes strength to lift all the weight, but I did it.
Forced to spend the last eight days in a recliner with my bruised leg and knee, I stuck with my diet.
I need to correct myself here, I am not on a diet. I have changed my lifestyle.
Today in the morning I felt steady enough to step on the scale and I have lost now 30 pounds. There was a birthday, a cake, a fall, a shot of Whiskey, and a bottle of sparkling wine, and it all fit wonderfully in my daily meal plan.
I am in charge! Onward we go!
(And I don't feel alone here anymore.) I have gotten so many friend requests after my first post (I had lost 20 pounds in size week and I had never felt more lonely).
Now I feel I belong here at MFP. I am part of a large group of people who want to be healthier.
It's not possible to update or contact all my friends and so, now bursting with confidence, I am thinking about founding a group here. "Determined Ladies on a Mission" or something like it. (Maybe determined Losers on a Mission?)

@Lady_Magenta, WOOHOO!! That's AWESOME!! WTG!!
I know you will succeed...you have the right mindset. Continued success!!4 -
WAY TO GO! When I read the "I could get up" part, I almost wept. That is a huge victory! You've got this. I'll join your group if start one. I started my (current) weight-loss journey in December of last year at 277 lbs. I'm 5'1". Today I weighed in at 217. It hasn't been easy, but at age 53, I'm really serious about this.
Once again, congratulations on your loss and your victories!6 -

Wow, congratulations. 60 lbs is amazing. I hope it's alright to say "I am proud of you."
Let's start a group for determined people like me and you. I assume you are doing it the old fashioned way too (no injections) correct?
You sound as serious as I am and I think there are more. Daily accountability in a group of likeminded (stubborn) losers would be great. :-)

I just started today and the very first post I open has inspired me. Thank you for you.3

Congratulations, and what a stark and significant measure of the improvements that you've made, that you could get yourself up when you needed to! What better indicator of the love you're showing your body?
I'm down 45lbs since July, from 272lbs and I feel so much better. I can trot up stairs, and I've stopped saying "oof" when I get up out of a chair or my car hahaha.
Much like you, I've just adopted these healthy habits into my life, it's not a diet, I have treats when appropriate and make them fit, and have just adjusted my lifestyle. It may not be easy, but it's satisfying, and it's paying off.

Oh I love this!! I just opened MFP on my desktop to add in today's lunch and your post title caught my eye so I clicked to read it! I think I shall use desktop instead of app a lot more in future... and I am keen to join your little group too if I may? I am currently down to 230 from 240 and training to run the London Marathon in April so I have 23 weeks to shift some timber while I train0

So proud of you for every thing you do. Every effort you make is a step in the right direction no matter how small. I started at 315 and I am doing vshred. Its hard but on a temporary full stop so of course I gained weight back because I am super senstive to weight gain. But I got to 286 and now I am 292. Not giving up though. I am going to get back on it as soon as my doctor gets the scan done for my veins because they were burning real bad from all the bike riding I was doing plus weight training. At least I have a good diet to follow. I am losing most days when I try hard. Some days are harder than others but I think it is working. Do not ever give up! This is the best loss I have had but I ended up paying for their coach which was very expensive. I in hindsight am having a great experience with my coach but I should not have paid the money and should have just gotten the 54 dollar plan for the eating and exercise plan and avoided the coach for financial reasons. I am paying about $565 a month for it but that is paying in advance for the whole year in 6 months. I have another 6 months to go but I will say the coach makes the difference. The coach keeps you accountable. The coach encourages you so if you can get a coach somehow, get one. I look and feel better already and I want to keep going in the right direction. Keep going and don't give up even if you mess up temporarily. Track your food, it does help. Sending love to you and good thoughts for your success! Love Kimberly1

Being able to pull myself up, that was a big moment. I am almost certain I would have not been able to do it three months ago. Weight does matter
You have made dramatic progress. That's fantastic!
I am with you and I think we share the same mindset. I am serious about it! Now I want it really bad.0 -

Wow, you just made me speechless and according to my husband, that doesn't happen too often.
I am glad you signed up here. The first step is done. Thank you for letting me know that my update-post inspired you. Who would have thought that I could start and stick with it. I think this time it's really IT.0 -

That's a lot of money. I just watched a movie called "Beyond Weigh Loss" on Amazon, and it ripped the rose-colored glasses off. Now I understand how to read labels. I know that I cannot eat 1500 calories in only two meal settings because my body cannot handle all the nutrition, fat, and energy.
Wow, I can't believe you can spend that much on a coach, my husband would kill me, and rightfully so. I think joining a gym and working with a personal trainer there might have saved you money. But in the end, if it works for you and you will achieve your goals (weight and fitness) then it was all worth it.
I have health issues (joint pain), and I will start very carefully with very light weights. I have two peddlers now, one under my desk and one beside my TV throne, and I am using them. I am 61 years old/young, and I will do everything within my means (and I don't mean it just financially). In the end, I have to find a lifestyle with food and exercise that suits me and is doable (and realistic) for the rest of my life.
Keep going too! Thank you for commenting (and I log all my food even the prunes). :-)
