We were busy most every day, and didn't eat our meal until early afternoon. We had spaghetti twice, burgers twice, and then Thanksgiving foods. A lot of heavy things and my body is paying for that!😂.
Today is 1/2 apple, handful of chopped roasted chicken, 2 stalks of celery chopped, walnuts, handful of cabbage shredded, mayp, mustard, ACV, and spices.
Its my fuel salad, and it makes me happy!
After eating this I will be decorating, photos to follow.💖🎄🎄

@Whidislander - Rebecca - I have a couple friends who make lefse. There's a fairly large Norwegian population in Alberta. In fact, my mother spent quite a few years when she was young in a community with a high population of Norwegians who celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve ... so her family started doing the same thing ... and my father liked the idea when he and my mother got together ... and they raised us kids celebrating Christmas on Christmas Eve. And because of the Norwegian community in Alberta, I have always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve.
Reply: oh that's so cool! I would've loved to celebrate within a community like that! There are many baked holiday treats that I still have never personally made like the sweet delicate rossette's that are a batter dipped cookie into hot oil for a sec, then the pressed cookies rolled around a cone thing. All things my mom did and we watched.

Michele - I think it was you that wanted to know how my crochet pillow turned out - this is made from an old bed pillow, which I just carved a chunk out of it with scissors, and then covered with a thrifted curtain fabric. The pillow sits in my lap with my elbows resting on the sides that go around my waist, and the work and my hands on the rest of it, in front of me. I'm going to take an old pillowcase and modify it to cover it by cutting and sewing that same curve into it, as I've found I don't like the satin-y texture under my elbows when I'm crocheting. Too slidy, does odd things to how well I can control my hands. That way, I'll be able to wash the covering anyway, something that always comes in handy.
Still working on the apron, almost to the point where I can start cutting and sewing, but still navigating straps. May have to wait until Corey gets home and measure him - or take his old vest, perhaps, and measure that.
Onward and upward, kids,
Love y'all,

Rori – I had a great trip vicariously thru you. Thank you. Sounds heavenly
Tracey – I DO NOT want to continue with this “no walking”. It’s driving me up a wall. Well, I remember the guy who made the orthotic talked about this cork they can put on it so that there will be much less pressure. The podiatrist also mentioned it. So...I have an appt next Thurs to have him put it on. I want to be able to walk when we get to FL, I love walking down there. And if this will help, I’ll do it.
Terri – I’m with you in hating the winter. Too gloomy, it gets dark way too early
Annie – good idea having the sitter help decorate. I was thinking of the LED lights, too
Carol – no, the pad didn’t come off because of the pool water. It was off even before I went in the pool! I went to show someone the pad and it was gone! Still have no idea when/where it came off. I do think that something is happening now. Is your nose dry due to the heat?
Went to the dermatologist. I had this “thing” on my forehead. Very small. I asked him what it was, he wasn’t sure but froze it off just in case.
Lisa – when I take a shower, Fred comes in the shower. Yes, IN, water and all. Fearless Fred is what we sometimes call him
Rita – LOVE that alien clock. Where did you get it. Is it battery operated or electric?
I get almost all my exercise DVD’s at thrift stores
Lisa – there’s all this talk about caffeine in chocolate being harmful to cats. Same thing...only in LARGE quantities. Even our vet told us this.
After work went to the soup kitchen. Been on my feet all day so I need to rest a bit. Next, I’ll take Ganon for a walk around the neighborhood then go to WM since I totally forgot to go after the soup kitchen and Vince needs milk
I do hope for Vince’ sake that the cats will leave the tree alone next year

Daughter in North Coastal California texted us yesterday to say that they were all fine after the earthquake and keeping watch on the tsunami warning. Since we avoid the news, we had no idea that it had happened. Later a friend in the same area called Jake to say all was well where he was. The news may have made more of a story than was warranted.
Rebecca, your lovely card and holiday family note arrived today. There is no end to your kindness and thoughtfulness.
Annie, just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you'll find your way through this holiday challenge with your father. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Hugs, friend! Glad you rec'd it. I am old fashioned this time of year. To the point of hot gluing flowers onto clothes pins, to hold the cards I receive. It just makes me happy to send and receive.🤗😁

very quick post. I will be heading up to mom's for the weekend as soon as my daycare girl leaves. I wasn't supposed to have her today- her mom called last night and needed me to pick her up from school. They had a funeral inSacramento and wouldn't be back in time to get her like they thought(or they were going to take her with them but changed their mind)
I will be home Sunday night.
This is our candy making weekend.
DH picked up a ham and turkey from the deli at his store- they were marking them down. They are cooked(from their dinner meals). Got them for $5 each. We will have them for dinner while I am there and I will pack some in the freezer for her to have for other meals.
She doesn't eat like she should when she is there by herself so I make sure to cook bigger meals when I am there and leave left overs for her.
Michelle- I got the check- so sorry the tree didn't work out for you

I have made the rossettes in the past- they really are simple. I need to make them again. The ones I make are a mold that is dipped in batter then fried and I also have pizzelle maker(haven't used it yet) that you can serve flat or in a cone.
Mom used to make a flat thin fried "cookie" for Christmas- they were eaten before the next batch were out of the fryer. They were so good. Haven't had them in close to 50 yrs now but I still remember them.

We've got rain and high winds for the next two days. Gusts of 60 mph at the moment.
My friend L in Wales is under a red warning of 90 mph.
Terri- have you had it bad?
We always worry about our fences. And hope our TV aerial stays up.
I'm going to make broccoli soup for lunch, and pigs cheeks in ale for dinner. That won't interfere with my baking with Edie, as I make it in the IP.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
Just watched my favourite YouTuber get to 1,000,000 subscribers. Cas (Clutterbug). Wow! That's one whole lot of work and dedication over seventeen years.
Broccoli soup, first stage, in the IP by 8.20 a m. The house smells very veggie. I will cook the florets at the last minute to keep them green. Then stick blend the lot.
Love Heather UK xxxxxxxx3 -
The benefit of doing stuff in the IP is not so much speed, as ease. You don't have to watch it, or worry about it boiling dry. It keeps stuff warm for ages. I cook a lot of stews, curries etc, and use as little water, stock, as possible. When I cook eggs I just forget about them. Potatoes likewise. It's the switch off and keep warm facility that I value. I will make the pigs cheeks at midday, and forget about them until dinner.
Like everything, it's a learning curve, and I have made mistakes in the past, especially too much water, but I would not be without it now. The yoghurt I make in it is a staple in our house. I have it on oats, nuts, and fruit for breakfast, and sometimes on stewed fruit in the evening. I use whole, organic, milk.
I also love pinhead oatmeal, which it makes in five minutes. (Don't have it often, but do love it)
I also use it to sprout beans.

Heather- I'm looking at the UK weather on Windy.com right now. Two days of the severe wind for you folks. Do you get this often? It looks like your version of the "bomb cyclone" we experienced a few weeks ago here in the Pacific Northwest, except ours blows in and is generally over in a day. I would probably lose the roof to my house and definitely electricity for several days with sustained winds like you are having.
Is your son back home yet? I'd hate to be in an airplane in this.
Stay safe, ladies!
And thank you for the IP information.

Good morning ladies!
I'm the early bird. 6 hours of sleep and I'm ready to go.
Got the the new battery for the Camry.First, I went to Walmart's automotive department a little after 8 am. It was abandoned. A fellow was stocking shelves around the corner and saw me standing there. He didn't impress me as any kind of automotive expert - didn't offer to look up any information on the computer, etc. He just said "pick out the battery you need and pull around back and I'll unload the old battery for you." I was still pretty clueless about which battery I needed. So I left.
I went to O'Reilly's Auto Parts across the street. They asked for the Camry car info - I happened to have everything with me including the VIN number (vehicle identification number). They entered the info and the car came up, showing the exact battery for the car, and they had it in stock - price $220. Ouch. But I thought well, everything is going up so get used to it.
Then the clerk said " hold on - I think I can get you a better price." She did a price match at Walmart and I ended up paying only $139. ( plus 8% tax of course) A nice early Christmas present!!
Roger popped it in the car for me and it fired right up. I asked him if we needed to test the alternator and he said not right now, even if the alternator is failing I'll get plenty of warning.
But I still want to give it a test with my voltage meter one of these days.
I did grab a pre-lit little Christmas tree at Walmart, under $10. Got it set up so I'm getting the holiday spirit. T stopped by with a wreath and poinsettia. She said she's been busy de-cluttering and just throwing things away. The thrift store she usually donates to is only taking clothing these days, nothing else.
Today I'm making a meatloaf or meatballs, I haven't decided which. I also picked up a spaghetti squash. Found a recipe where the raw squash is cut into 1" rings, the seeds removed (the gal on the video used a cookie cutter) then baked. Looks less messy than baking the squash in halves.

Make it a great weekend, ladies!

Good morning!
Heather UK Stay safe! The winds suck ( okay they blow)! We just had a day with 40 mph gusts sustained at 15mph. My blow ups we deflated before hand, but the Christmas lights on the house stayed put!
Yesterday was a good day. Busy at work. SIL still sick. Dr says it is a virus. It has been over two weeks. Main mechanic back after 4 weeks out. That is disturbing the flow. He is an arrogant ahole! He has forgotten lots but still has more knowledge than the rest of us. He refuses to learn anything new though. He is not coming in today, so a breather! I did get in all my water plus some yesterday using Atomic habit. Obvious-cup full and at hand. Time and location specific- when I get up, when I get to work, before I eat lunch, before I leave work, and after dinner. Yay! One day down! A lifetime to go!
Time to get going. And time for the kittens to nap. They have had zooming all morning!
Much love,
Kylia in Ohio5 -
I needed today!
I slept about 11 hours.
I tidied around my chair, picked up all my socks from the floor, and put away most of my laundry.
I made progress decorating the Christmas tree.
I went through some of the left over cycling event stuff.
I finally found my referral for an abdominal ultrasound.
I started colouring again.
And my husband and I went to a community carols thing.
I feel slightly more on top of things.
Regarding the socks ... I wear socks when out exercising or at work or wherever, but I shed them soon after I arrive home. So I end up with socks here and there around the place. And sometimes more than one pair a day if I have a pair I wear for work, and shed them, then use another pair for cycling in the evening, and shed them. Plus sometimes I put on an at-home evening pair thinking my feet will be cold, but they rarely are, and I end up shedding them somewhere too. I much prefer being barefoot at home.

Hello, my dears,
Not a lot of plans for us this morning. As long as my gut is behaving, we do want to do a little exploring, driving around the countryside. Something we used to do almost every weekend... and now that I'm feeling better, it's an option once more. Just getting out and seeing what's near us. There are little roads all through this country, what my mama used to call "pig trails," that wind through these areas, and you never know what's around the next bend.
Still have made only one cut on Corey's workshop apron. Got some more input from him last night, though. Might mock it up on some thrifted fabric before I put it on the final, heavy duty fabric, though, and make sure pockets are deep enough, straps are long enough, etc. Probably a good idea.
Time to get his work clothes in the dryer - That's the only laundry for the weekend, super easy since he had a day off this week. Hope your weekend is full of whatever you want it to be full of, whether that's peace or party-time!
Love from chilly Arkansas,

Lanette Learned from a farmer who sold squash. Just cut in half deseed (I roast mine later) turn upside down on a pan lined with foil. Bake 350 one hour. The squash does not dry out using this method. I had tried this on butternut, acorn, and delictica squash. All turned out moist and fully cooked.

Heather: It’s great to see the progress you are making.
This is the Christmas cactus on my kitchen window sill.
Margaret: I so agree with the sentiments in your story.
I think we are currently in the eye of the storm Heather mentioned. The winds have dropped and the sun has shown his face Last night we had horrendous winds. One fence panel will need fixed when the storm passes, but no other damage so far, apart from a few things blown over. DH had everything well battened down. We have one tree that may come down, but it has survived several similar storms in the past. DH has decided that he will take a chainsaw to it next week if it does succumb.
We do get these storms from time to time, maybe once or twice a year. One of them took out our greenhouse about 10 years ago. They’re a fact if life.
Northern Ireland has had widespread traffic disruption overnight, with fallen trees, and train services also hit, and some power outages. We have an amber warning until 9pm tonight. The South of Ireland has been more badly affected and they are under a red warning.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.
