DH’s doctor knows and he will not go for therapy. My therapist offered to see him free, but he will not go. He just doesn’t want to treat any of his issues and wants to let them take their toll on him. He is always in pain from arthritis and now has a leg that swells to twice its size often. Upon research, it is most likely from either his heart or his liver giving out. I believe more the liver. He will pay in more pain by letting things go. He says he doesn’t care and will let nature do its thing. IDK, this is only one of my worries right now. I try to take care of me, so I can deal with this, my son, and my middle daughter along with my mom. Too much, but my mom always says you never get more than you can handle. Sometimes I wonder.

Today is a good day to work on Christmas cards. Letter Day! I started them yesterday, but have a bunch more to do.

The chocolate roulade turned out to be a communal effort. It came out beautifully. Edie did quite a bit of it. The only problem was John cutting the support board too long, and I had to trim it with the cake on top. It is now in the freezer. Everyone's favourite Christmas dessert.
We also had my gorgeous hot chocolate drink. Edie had to put extra sugar in it, but it was much appreciated.
She and John are now painting, but I'm resting on the sofa. Edie is painting a picture for her parents Christmas present.
I found the time to cook the pigs cheeks after lunch and I've just put them on for an extra 15 minutes to get really tender.
We've really enjoyed having her. She's been asking about watching someone dying. 🙄
She hears on Friday about her school results.
Winds down for the moment, but will be up again tomorrow. Many events cancelled.

I love walking in my neighbourhood in the dark early morning. Now that the sun is coming up so late, I don't even try to get the dogs out in the daylight. The only car I saw was the one delivering the Seattle paper and there were no walkers either with or without dogs. It was so peaceful. Many people have holiday lights to make things brighter and cheerier.
Yesterday I paired my phone with the new car so I can listen to music and answer calls via the car's system. It was all a matter of following the directions on the screen. I have no idea what I did but now my phone can play music through the car's speakers. Jake is out in the car now trying to pair his phone. I can't help him because his phone is Apple and mine is Android. I told him when he bought the iPhone that I wouldn't be able to help him with anything and that's what's happening now.
Another chapter in the saga about helpful husbands in the passenger seat. When Jake's friend rode with me to the vet so he could get Bessie in and out of the car, he looked both ways for me and told me when he thought it was safe to go or if anyone was coming, and at intersections he let me know when the light turned green. So it's not just husbands being "helpful' to their wives.
I love seeing the holiday decorations and customs that are making you happy.

Rebecca – lovely village. Love the jewel tree, are those special jewels?
They had bbq at the soup kitchen and couldn’t save it to Monday (not sure why) so I got some to take home and give to Jess when she comes Sun to get the animals. I’m getting to know Ganon’s signals (when he needs to go out) and the cats are more and more comfortable here. Cozmo (that’s how they spell it) is getting on the counter now, which I’m sure Jess doesn’t want so we spray her. Not sure how much of a deterrent that is
Deb – my grandmother used to make crusciki. She made them so thin they melted in your mouth. Vince still remembers them (he’d have them with beer...lol). Try as I might, I could never replicate her recipe. I might try making them again and using the pasta roller to see if I can get them thin enough.
Yea Allie!!!!
Rita – you have so much on your mind! I’d be concerned about your dh too (well, I am) Oh wow about that clock. Going to keep it in mind. Maybe they have an alien thing at ceramics. Need to go back and see how you did the numbers. Found it! Did you have to paint the numbers on it?
Today is the ceramic christmas party. I’m just going to take pigs in a blanket. I was going to make sausage cheese balls, but Vince wanted this and seeing how many people are coming to the Christmas party, it was easier to buy a couple boxes at Sam’s and just heat them up. Just wrapped the present also one for Jess that I think she’ll want to use for Christmas Eve (it’s serving dishes, hers are all chipped)
Took Ganon for a short walk. After work went to Food Lion and got crab that was on sale BOGO. Because I bought distilled water the other day at Dollar General, I got a $10 off $40 order which FL price matched.
Have yogurt in the IP right now. It should be done by the time we come back from ceramics. Going to be too dark to take Ganon for a walk, so I’ll just take him out to relieve himself.
Oh, Vince just said that it isn’t secure to send texts from an Android to an iPhone. That’s not to say that you can’t send texts, just try not to put sensitive things in it (like if you’ll be away). The FBI just made this statement.

I’m finally taking another run at eating and moving properly. In September I took a managerial job that got me out of a desk job. I thought all the steps I put in would help but the stress was high initially and my good habits tanked and I’m up 10 pounds since I started.
I am physically miserable and grumpy.
Yesterday was a long March of multiple trips to the vet. We live on an island so everything is a road trip. My disabled husband came each time and exhausted himself, but his need to get out of the house trumped that and so he soldiered on.
Christmas will be heartbreaking this year as the bishop has shut down our parish and there will be no familiar place for us to attend Midnight Mass which is the focus of the season for us.
On the bright side, after the hottest November in years, we’re finally seeing winter temps in the 60/70 F range, and the white pelicans and laughing gulls have arrived for the season. That and my Christmas shopping is done unless I can think of something more to get my 18-year-old.
For us, our odd family tradition is Irish Stew for Christmas dinner and cherry pie a-la-mode for dessert.
Best to all.

When I was first married my Mom and I made three jewelry trees, one for each of us. My Mom already had hers. We got jewelry from both grandmothers, from jewelry that was our costume play jewelry, and even some of the elderly neighbors donated. Over the years I have added jewelry my kids got me, coins, and more jewelry from after my mom passed. Its really a time capsule of family history. I need to write down what each is, and log the story about each item, (before I forget!).

Today I am supposed to attend a Christmas concert, but I am passing. I am sore from last nights activities! I would snore, then Lee would tap me awake and I would turn, which triggered a vertigo swirl. Then I would relax and repeat the whole deal. I lost count how many times Lee tapped me. I definitely didn't get a good nights sleep. So its raining and I just want to make soup, watch sappy Christmas movies, and make chicken soup.😁💖I might take a nap.😂

We have lowered our walking mileage by one mile, now doing 5 miles a day. Not because of us, it’s more for the dogs. They are getting up there in age. Yogi will be 11 in January, Chispa will be 16 and Lucy will be 10.
Kirby has made his decision, no more 1/2 marathons for him. He said he will still run on the treadmill or the beach but no more pavement/road running for him. Next November, I’ll still do the 1/2: he hasn’t decided if he is going to walk the 10k which is a no brainer (6.2 miles) or if he will just volunteer and meet me at the finish line. We will see.

I think I've gone completely mad. I was so excited by the hot chocolate, that I've bought two 1970 vintage retro Apilco coffee cups and saucers from Etsy. They are the traditional French bistro ones. To remind me of the first time I had real hot chocolate in Paris at the Café Brébis.
Oh well.

Well the old rowan is still standing. DH doesn’t want it coming down in the next storm so it will be coming down this week.
So many trees down and blocked roads that we have cancelled our visit to DED this afternoon. We will Skype instead.
Heather: 🥰 all the art you do with the grands. Edie is quite an individual. The mugs are wonderful. We all deserve our little indulgences.
Rita: It’s so difficult to step back when those you love are self-destructive. We are here for you, dear girl.
I’m working on my Christmas cards today.
Loving all the Christmas photos.
🤗🤗🤗 and 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 for those who need them.
🙋♀️ céad míle fáilte to any newbies.

This is the old rowan. It originally had a double trunk, but we lost the main one a few years ago, and this was left. It should be fairly simple to deal with it.

That's one of the reasons why my husband and I sleep in separate beds. Before his accident, he was jiggling the bed any time I made a peep, and I was getting no sleep. Of course I was doing the same thing to him. There were days we'd be rather cranky with each other because of the lack of sleep, but back then we had more energy than we do now. After his accident, sleep became very important, so we did the separate bed thing and that works.

Today’s gratitude: When I told Joe I thought I’d heard it raining around 5, he immediately said “Water room.” Sure enough, tanks over full, overflow tube pouring water onto the floor. Joe turned off the pump and the intake. Texted Help! To water guy, he called, but he’s in El Paso. He’ll send his helper, maybe today, to try to troubleshoot. Hope its old floats in the tanks and not wiring down to the new pump in the cistern. Update: was a loose part on the float, all’s well.
Belated welcomes to @jenferbar Jennifer from CT and @josie1960abc JoAnn from PA!
Welcome back @defiant63 Karen in BC! Well begun is half done ;}
Lisa Calvin and Hobbes, what a great gift!
Rebecca love the pics and the smiles. You know the lefse song, of course ;} That’s quite a bruise. Ow!
Likewise Machka having all that heavy wood land on your hand and arm. OUCH!
Kylia tough question, hope there’s a third alternative…
Tracey I used to sleep with my clothes in bed and dress under the covers before getting up too. The pilot light would go out on our gas furnace and it was my chore to re-light it in the morning. Include me in the hate to be cold team.
Barbie I love wood heat, it really sinks into my bones, and is great for drying out wet dogs, but you’re right, it’s hard to moderate.
Only through pg 3.
Later, lighter, lovelies!

Another breezy day here but only up around 65 km/h (40 mph), so it wasn't too bad.
Today was our bee group meeting - Christmas edition. That's always good fun.
Then we visited a friend for a couple hours.
And by then I was DONE.
We came home and I slept for 3 solid hours.
We have been so busy since we got back from Canada, last week especially ... I think it finally all caught up with me. Even after 3 hours of sleep this afternoon, I'm still very tired.
Fortunately this week doesn't look quite as busy. There's lots of work to do at work, but it will stay at work, during working hours. At this point, there's nothing on during the evenings which is really nice!

Happy Sunday, my darlin's, whether past, present or future,
Yesterday was enjoyable. Our drive in the countryside was lovely. Found a nice little place for sale with easy access to anything we need - grocery, medical, etc. - amazing view, already had a big shop built on it. The kind of place we could buy now and have paid off and ready for when Corey retires... Then we got home and got a good look online at how the land that is for sale was subdivided. Unfortunately, the acreage is all cut up and not what we thought it was when we were walking around it.
However, my gut cooperated completely, no problems at all. Like getting one of our favorite activities back! Glad we went yesterday - it was raining when I woke up and supposed to start again by 10 a.m., rain all afternoon.
Got a kitty asleep in my lap, who was quite disgusted by the rain when I let her out this morning, and wanted right back inside. Not a lot on for today, so as soon as I evict her, I'll get on with Corey's apron. Or not. My highest ambition is honestly just to get a shower taken. Might do that before I start on anything.
Hope it is or was a lovely Sunday, as the case may be for you, and a good week ahead, as well.
Love y'all,
Lisa in AR6 -
The fence is leaning over! Unfortunately, it's leaning over to the neighbours ' side, and they aren't in. Still some winds to go.
Kedgeree tonight. With asparagus.
I've downloaded an app that let's you read thousands of magazines on your devices. I have two free months before I cancel. I will make the most of it. I've put in my diary when to cancel in February.

@Michelle, the number on the clock came with the clock works. They were stick on, but painted numbers would be nice too, that is if you can get the spacing right. I never could but DH did it by ‘feel’! I could never do that.
@Dianna from Padre Island WELCOME We are a very talkative bunch. Comment on what strikes you and come back often! Be sure to bookmark this page so it will be easy to find again! (Top right corner, little flag)
My son’s phone microphone doesn’t work very well, can never hear him and he has bad credit. So I broke down and added him to my phone plan and got him a new phone that he will pay for monthly (I need to do this, some of you remember why). He has already sent me by Cash App the first month’s payment. He really needs a phone as he travels about an hour each morning to get to work. It will come here and I will set it up. The Christmas plan gave me no connection charge, a free iPad, and a free Apple Watch. He is ecstatic. I just hope he will pay the monthly charges. Verizon already sent me the changes to my next bill. I will take a look at that and let DS know. Big trust on my part for him. I know he understands and I hope he will keep his end of the bargain. I have to do tough love with him, so this is a big step for both of us.
Going to work on Christmas Cards - I need to get them mailed soon!
Just saw on the news the same thing Michelle commented on. Apple to Android texts are not secure. Apple to Apple is. If you use Messenger on an Apple, it is secure. Using What’s app and other apps are good too, but both users need the same app on their phone to use it. I use Messenger a lot.

Today is: a good day to watch Dr. Who, but I will watch A Christmas Carol today, the one with Patrick Stewart in it. We are watching a different Christmas Carol/Scrooge movie every Sunday until Christmas. It’s “Imagine Being a Time Traveler” day!
Anyone here still use lard for anything? Besides being Lard Day, I see lard a lot when I grocery shop here. I do not use it, but if I made pie dough, it is the best thing for that. Hmmm. I should try that again! I was never very good at pie crusts.

All of the flowers, crafts, outdoor lights, treat ideas etc. are a joy to see.
Allie ~ Miles and Delia are very lucky to have parents who love taking them places and doing fun things at home!
Went shopping for my two grands this morning after they finally let me know what they were interested in receiving. Boy, what a headache searching the internet for things that might or might not be in stock at this late date. Wish I had known what they wanted sooner. But, it got done. Next year it might just be money!

Good late morning ladies!
First, I admire the everyone's Christmas decorations... Carol, Margaret and Rebecca to name a few. I'm sure I missed some of you. Thanks for sharing your Christmas cheer, ladies!
An elderly acquaintance is having his 90th birthday this Wednesday so I went through my "card stash" to find one suitable. Most of the cards I have are sympathy or get well cards. That's my stage of life I guess, lol. I did find one for him. But I need to stop at Walgreens and load up on nice birthday cards again. I used to find the best ones at KMart. Really miss that store and Sears as well. Times change.
Allie - those photos of Delia are great, another fabulous smiler! You are doing super on your weight loss, by the way.
Barbara - glad no major water problems. Whew!
Project this afternoon is finishing Christmas cards.
Weekly Check-in reminder for ladies participating.
