I wanted to share some recent photos of dog, enjoying having no bulky bandage on her foot and more freedom around the house. We're still taking her out on leash, because otherwise she would race off to chase a squirrel or bunny, or fence run with the neighbors' dog. That's not recommended at this stage of recovery. The cone comes off on Thursday. Hopefully we'll start taking her for short walks later this week.

First time allowed to use the stairs in 4 weeks and she immediately jumped on our bed.

Jumping on furniture now allowed. 😀 Something she missed so much, laying next to me on the couch, she got extra close the best she could last night.

This morning, relaxing with her sister, Kitty.

@PackerFanInGB Yes hand is much better.
I use it as I normally would now, little finger doesn't always wanna do what I want though. It no longer flexes upwards. That will take time and work!

I went swimming the other day and my little finger just had zero strength LOL so I'm gonna take an extra bobble next time and just strap it to my 4th finger so feels more stable lol.

Glad to hear about your hand! My little finger is healing also, but it will be some time before it "behaves" again. Still slightly swollen and not able to bend. I'm not very patient with it and keep banging it accidentally. Hubby has to keep reminding me I had a deep laceration. The scar is quite impressive but the doc did a fabulous job knitting me back together.

Yes, doggo will be very happy once the cone is off tomorrow. She is very popular whenever we take her to the vet.

    Recap 12/17 T
    1) Figure out supper ~ finished off pea soup / limit sweets & snacks ~ not so great with sampling of some luncheon desserts / log all food ~ nope, ate at funeral luncheon & would be total guess / net calories zero ~ not likely / 80 oz water ~ 64 :s not the day I'd originally planned but only one day
    2) Walk if time? Min. 5000 steps  6500
    3) Help at funeral luncheon 10-1 ~ brought home leftovers / change bedding / call Mom <3 / read / digital declutter / other? reviewed recipes, finished grocery list  TA-DA!

    JFT 12/18 W ~ cloudy & dreary day
    1) Leftovers for supper / limit sweets & snacks / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz. water
    2) Go for walk? Min. 5000 steps
    3) Grocery shop / read / digital declutter / other?

    About me:
    I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
    Height 5'4"
    67 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA

    2024 Goals:
    1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year
    • Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
    • Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
    2) Plan meals most days & prelog meals/snacks whenever possible on MFP
    • Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26.
      * lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
      * glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
      * rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
      * yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
      * white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
      * Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
      * garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
      * summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
      * zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
      * moussaka America's Test Kitchen tv show ~ very tasty, nice size portions & filling, though complicated with four distinct layers & many prep steps ~ nice to have an alternate eggplant recipe
      * peach cobbler (BH&G) used qt fresh peaches grown in Ripon
      * ratatouille (loveandlemons.com) very good vegetarian dish, uses lots of late summer/early fall veggies
      * potato leek soup (AllRecipes.com) ~ very good alternate leek soup recipe, easy to make... chopping up so many potatoes was the worst part LOL
      * roasted daikon radishes (internet) ~ too long in oven, but seemed to have good flavor, will try again
    3) Exercise 5-6x per week (minimum 4x):
January: 5 days x2wks, 4x1, 3x1, 1x1 [1 wk lots of snow & 1 wk bitter cold so shoveling, treadmill & PT, 1 wk 4 day trips out of town]

    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x2, 3x1 {a lot of very hot/humid days}
    August: 5 days x1wk, 4x2, 1x1 {hot/humid & scheduling conflicts}
    September: 5 days x1wk {including Annual Bridge Walk ~ double-crosser on The Mighty Mac}, 4x1, 3x2 {prep & colonoscopy so limited exercise}

      • In 2022 I logged 500.4 miles, or 805km (knee issues).
      5) At least 7,500 steps per day
      • I can earn $10 every month on my Medicare Advantage Plan with 10+ days of 7,500 steps [noticed 7/12 that requirement reduced to 5,000 steps, but I'll continue with goal of 7,500]:
        Jan / Feb / Mar / Apr / May / June / July / Aug / Sept / Oct / Nov / Dec

Good morning! Happy Hump Day! Getting lots done, although it doesn’t feel like it. Yesterday I had to stop and remind myself that every year I stress out worrying whether I will get everything done…and not once, ever, have we had Christmas ruined because of something I didn’t get done! Whatever HAS to be done, will get done. Whatever doesn’t, I doubt anyone will notice. So, as my grandson says “Settle down, Grandma! Settle down!” 😂✌️😬

Can I just say, I sure do miss the Newsfeed feature. I miss seeing other people’s wins and posts. I miss some of my friends that I only interacted with on there. I wonder what happened to Mary Robinson…she used to be on our group here and she posted such motivating messages daily. Sometimes improvements aren’t better (just my opinion)

@cschmitz110515 Awww! Your dog looks so happy! She’s a pretty girl! You look great too! You both look so happy in that photo. So glad she’s on the mend. Thanks for sharing!

    Have a good day everyone!

Well, yesterday kind of got away from me. Mom called and guilted me into getting her bird seed. Ordered online to skip the pre-Christmas crazy. Then delivered it and visited which took forever. Then when I finally leave and need to pick up the dog she calls again to say she needs toilet paper. I so didn't want to go to the grocery or walmart, both were crowded, but I couldn't let her tush be icky. I picked up tp, then picked up Merlin, then headed back to her house and dropped it off. I had called asked her to meet me outside in 5 minutes so that I didn't have to leave the pup in the car (he is not to be trusted). Of course she didn't. I tried to call again, but no answer. Instead of waiting I just dropped the tp off in the living room and left. Not particularly nice of me, but it is what it is. Finally got home around 6:30pm. No one was home so I sat with the pup until Tim returned from yoga. Needless to say no sugar cookies were made. We decided to load up the containers with the cookies we had and call it good.

Today, is meetings and more meetings... followed by trivia. Not a late night though because I have a 6:30 meeting tomorrow morning.

    Good morning!

Thanks for the comments! Dog, hubby and I were very happy the day her stitches came out, and some of her restrictions were lifted. Next is losing the cone, and hopefully she doesn't lick her toe. She's already tried, even with the cone.

I too miss the Newsfeed on MFP. I miss seeing certain MFP friends that I only "saw" there. I remember Mary Robinson. She was such a sweetheart. She also was quite upset about the feed going away, and posted about switching to another app. Not sure what she went to.

Btw, I shopped today at Woodman's in the late morning. It was busier than I expected and I wasn't sure why, until I got home and realized our predicted snow tomorrow was upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning. Glad I got the shopping done & hubby has plenty of gas for the snowblower. Even more glad that hubby and I can stay home for the next two days if we have to. Stay safe!

@more_freggies76 I'm not sure what a dirty paws vacation is, but it sounds like fun. Enjoy! I admire your posts, they're always so interesting to me. Thanks for being here as well!

    About me:

    June: 6 days x1wk {including Bellin 10K}, 5x1, 2x2 {either very rainy or hot for 2 wks}
    July: 5 days x1wk {including Packers 5K}, 4x2, 3x1 {a lot of very hot/humid days}
    August: 5 days x1wk, 4x2, 1x1 {hot/humid & scheduling conflicts}
    September: 5 days x1wk {including Annual Bridge Walk ~ double-crosser on The Mighty Mac}, 4x1, 3x2 {prep & colonoscopy so limited exercise}

      6) Participate in my favorite area races ~ I walk, I do not run

Good morning! Snowy day in Wisconsin. Winter warning in effect, so my plan to go to H’s wrestling meet and give grandson T a ride to and from basketball practice has been cancelled since they just announced early school release and no after school activities. I’m good with that though. Snow days are perfect for baking, watching Christmas movies and sipping cocoa…the snow sucks to drive in but it is beautiful when the snowflakes are so big. ❄️🎄

@cschmitz110515 I ran to the post office on Packerland yesterday and the line was a mile long! Since I only needed stamps, I left and ran to Festival but their scanner was down for the USPS counter, so I ended up running back to the post office later. It was a zoo out there…never dawned on me it was people getting things done before the snow today! I’m glad I didn’t run to Woodman’s…that place is a zoo on a good day! 😬😂 Stay warm today! P.S. I wish I knew which app Mary R went to. I’d be tempted to try to find her just so I could say hi. I really enjoyed her. It always surprises me how attached I get to people I’ve never actually met! 🥰

    Just For Today, Wednesday 12/18/24

Delivered some more cookies last night before trivia. Neither person we planned to visit was home, but I got nice thank you notes from them. One gentleman said my pecan balls reminded him of the ones his late wife used to make, and one of my trivia folks said the fudge was just like her mom's. That is a huge honor for me. I put a lot of effort into finding, recovering and or tweaking the recipe's. Nothing better than bringing memories of people they love. Few more to deliver this evening after I do some Secret Santa shopping. Got an email yesterday that there were 9 kids who were removed from their homes last week who need a Christmas. I'm blessed with a good job now, but when I was young my mom struggled financially. Now I'm glad to give back to at least a few kids. This kid is a 17yo girl who's big request is a soft heated blanket. I know this girl will appreciate whatever we get her. My trivia team last night pitched in an extra $100 to help get her some nice stuff. People are always eager to shop for the little kids, and at times the older kids get left out.

@PackerFanInGB I miss the newsfeed, too it was so handy for keeping in touch with friends from a number of groups. Lots of my friends weren’t in groups, and many left MFP, or stopped logging here. I also lost my streak. Change isn’t always good.

Yesterday was a fun day. Work was a drag, but I was able to leave early and pick Tim up from a Christmas Party. He wasn't drunk, but had a few too many to drive. Then we went shopping at Kohl's for our secret Santa girl. Spent more than planned, but got her some really nice things. Went home wrapped gifts and then went out to get her one more thing (I bought the wrong size pants at Kohl's and needed to replace the item).

Slept in a little this morning as puppy snuggling was really nice. Headed to work about 10 minutes late and realized Tim's wallet was in the car. Had to run back home, then finally to work. Will stay here until 11:00 or so and then deliver the gifts to the DHHR. Then head home to clean a bit and wrap some of our gifts. Tonight is Christmas movie trivia. Should be fun. The host is a friend of ours, he's a lot of fun. Gotta find an ugly Christmas sweater... I have a couple, but I think they are in the laundry.

    JFT 12/20 F
    1) Leftovers for supper / limit sweets & snacks / log all food / net calories zero / 80 oz. water
    2) Min. 5000 steps / shovel snow off patio / PT exercises? treadmill?
    3) Any task done is a good task

    About me:

    February: 6 days x1wk, 5x1, 4x1, 2x1 [2 wks overnight trips to visit parents]
March: 5 days x1wk, 4x1, 3x1, 0x1 [ack... prep house & food for Easter dinner; 1 wk overnight trip to visit parents]
April: 4 days x2wks, 3x1, 2x1 [lots of lousy weather, plus 1 wk overnight trip]

    September: 5 days x1wk {including Annual Bridge Walk ~ double-crosser on The Mighty Mac}, 4x1, 3x2 {prep & colonoscopy so limited exercise}

Happy Friday JFT friends! It looks like a winter wonderland out my window today…very pretty and Christmasy as long as I don’t have to go outside. ☀️❄️🎄

Got peanut butter balls and peanut clusters done yesterday. Today is spritz and jello cookies, and hopefully decorating sugar cookies. I really do not enjoy frosting cookies, but I do like eating frosted sugar cookies, so there’s that…. Christmas tree looks beautiful. I found the box with decorations my kids and grandkids had made for me when they were little and we hung those on the tree this year. Oh be still my heart…They are priceless. I haven’t been able to find them for the past 8 years! So happy Tim found them this year. I have a few cards to write and send out yet. Then it’ll be a few days of cleaning & getting the house ready for company this weekend. Monday will be a day of cooking pies, shredded beef, cheesy potatoes, etc. Tuesday our family comes to celebrate Christmas. We open the doors at noon on Christmas Eve and the kids and grandkids come and go through the day as they can. Everyone has so many places to go that we just have kind of an open house with food all day until the last person leaves. My BIL will arrive on Sunday and spend the week with us. It’s always nice to see him. He is planning to retire up here from TX in the next year or so, and I know my husband is really looking forward to having a brother in town. They’re were 10 kids in his family, and only 2 of his brothers are still alive. One lives in FL and Joe lives in Texas.

Anyway, enough chatter. Have a wonderful day everyone! I need to get stuff done so I can go to my grandson’s basketball game tonight! 😊🎄🎶❄️

Oh my god I have not been logging. I've been SO busy.
Every time I think I have a free "slot" in the day, something else just takes it up!
So not making the wisest of choices but I haven't got that much unhealthy stuff in the house so hopefully as long as I keep the quantity down I might just get away with it!
But I put it down to Xmas. I've not even wrapped the presents yet and I've got the kids reminding me every day "5 days til Xmas, 4 days til Xmas" and every day I get a little bit more anxious 😂 but I think I have time today, Casey has a birthday party to attend this morning but then I should have nothing to do.

Also Ash has taken over cooking nearly all the evening meals. I've done it for years, I'm not the best cook, I tend to use packets and meal kits whilst I'm cooking and some things I would cook from scratch but I never followed a recipe, I just kind of made stuff 😂😂

Anyway, HES making stuff from scratch. Last night he made us a chicken tikka masala. He got all the spices, heavy cream etc the lot.
It was the best goddamn curry I've ever had.
It's like having flipping Master Chef in the house and all I could ask was why have we been eating crap for years when he can cook like this 😂😂

We've established, he's the chef, I'm the baker.
I love baking and he loves cooking!
He actually enjoys it, where as I see it as some major chore but I enjoy baking because I feel like when you cook it's because you have to because you need to eat.
But baking is because you WANT to, you want a sweet treat.

And he actually bought the wrong sugar the other day but I know that the sugar goes well in an upside down pineapple cake!
So just like he has, I'm gonna be stocking up on some baking ingredients soon!

@Bex953172 Funny that after all this time, you learned Ash is a good cook. Love it! Same with my parents: Mom never liked to cook, but did because she had to when Dad was working and she stayed home. Dad was always the better cook, even when we camped or he filled in at home. Once Dad retired, he took over cooking their meals full-time, and Mom has been very happy with that.

Good morning! Hope y’all are having a nice weekend!

I did nothing yesterday but made appointments and phone calls following up on insurance stuff. So nothing Christmas related. We went to grandson’s basketball game last night though, so that was nice! They won, so even more fun! Today is full speed ahead. I’m baking and card writing. Anything that doesn’t get baked or written today isn’t getting done. Tomorrow is grocery shopping and cleaning. Tim’s brother comes to,Oreos from TX at some point. Then Monday is cooking all day for Tuesday…then putting it all in a crockpot ready to go. Countdown is on…

Have a wonderful day everyone! Hugs & prayers to those who need them. ❤️

@Bex953172 That’s funny about Ash’s culinary skills. All this time you had a chef in the house and didn’t know it. Lol. I agree about cooking vs baking. I hate to cook, but I love to bake. I never thought about why or what the difference is, but you’re right! Baking is because you WANT to, and you’re doing a nice treat for your loved ones. I tend to rebel against things I feel like I have to do…. 😂. Good luck getting things wrapped! Glad you stopped in. I missed you!

Just For Today, Friday / 12/20/24

    • Drink 64+ oz water. Drink at three fills of pink stainless steel bottle. Can have a hot cup of herbal tea also. 🥸
    • 30 minutes intentional activity. Close Activity Rings on watch. Goal = 6,000 steps. Get outside and “touch a tree”! Grounding in nature is so good for you. 😊
    • Leave 2 bites from one meal. Stop at “enough” 😊
    • R/S cardio appt, schedule dentist checkup. F/U with ins for Tim and myself. Appt w/Karen for my supplemental in March.. 😊
    • Write out remaining Christmas cards. 🥸
    • Paperwork…declutter desktop. Budget. 🥸
    • Christmas baking. Today is: Russian tea cakes, Jello cookies, spritz and decorating sugar cookies. 🥸

    • Get grocery list together. Woodman’s if I have time. 😊
    • Self care 30 minutes. Foot massager x2 with Calm app in earbuds. Journal. Marcos. Podcast - at least 1 No BS Weightloss. Read. 😊
    • 30 minutes in sewing room. Mindless sewing of blocks is needed. Try to carve out some time today. 🥸
    • Evening Routine 😊

Lots of walking planned today in San Francisco - oh those hills :)

Eating has to be flexible and I’ll follow DH’s lead, skinny guy that he is. Need to stay hydrated though. In recent weeks I’m noticing that maybe the severe leg cramps I get at night could be linked to days when I’m less hydrated, and that often occurs when I travel. I just don’t want liquids in a normal fashion during travel because, well you know🤪. Also my bowels act up when I’m not at home (TMI 😌). But the cramps could also be linked to the statin I take…working with doc on all this. Hydration is my idea though.

Hour commitment - After my coffee, I won’t eat until DH wants lunch. I’ll drink another full glass of water this morning after coffee.
