Welcome aboard, @chrisanderson2126! Happy belated birthday! 🎉 (50 is a great milestone!)

I've got plans to build some sustainable, healthy habits as well, including quitting ALL consumption of alcoholic beverages and getting back into regular activity, at least three times per week.

Just a few days until 2025! I'm starting now so I can get a head start on tracking and focus. I will post my initial weight and scale app stats on Wednesday, January 1st.

    Best wishes!🌟

@deepwoodslady Thanks for the support. I've just had my ovaries removed and was surprised to be starting with osteopenia. I want to out a good effort into the weight management. If I gain weight taking this, I want it to be because I'm putting effort in to be healthy and not because I'm eating a batch of cookies!

I would like to join this challenge! I plan to focus on daily nutrition and exercise logging and increasing my water intake. I think the accountability and community should help me achieve this goal where struggling on my own has failed in the past. I will post my weigh ins on Wednesdays starting Jan 1.

    Welcome, newest members!

Only 3 more days to go!

@acbeechie, I also plan to log food and activity daily, as well as water intake. I will also report daily steps and any planned activity sessions, like exercise videos, workout walks, etc.

@mazzeryamaryliss, Congratulations on losing 62 pounds this year already! I would like to lose another 15 lbs. or more by Summer, but will try to lose at least 10 lbs. over the 11 weeks of this challenge.

Official weigh-ins will begin this Wednesday, January 1st, but each member can pick whichever weekly weigh-in day works best.

    Enjoy your day

Hi all, I would love to join this challenge. I’m 53 and have been struggling with my weight over the past 3 years. I plan to log every day and start back at the gym. If I could lose between 10-14 lbs by spring I would be extremely happy 😃.

Very much looking forward to having group support and motivation.

I will log my first weekly weigh in on the 1st Jan.

Hi there! I’d love to join this group! I’m a 58 yr male. I will weigh myself on Wednesday morning for starting weight and will do every Wednesday after that. I’ll post my weight as I go along. I Need to lose 25-30 lbs. I had success with MyFitnessPal about 6 years ago, when I was exercising regularly and entering my foods in the diary. I have not exercised much this year and definitely have not been eating well. Hope to change things in 2025!

    Hi everyone,

In these final days of 2024, I'm finding it very challenging to keep my weight steady with my occasional overindulging in all the festivities; however, I'm going to be extra careful leading up to our challenge kickoff, starting NOW!

My weight is currently 154.8. I'm hoping to weigh 154 or less by January 1st and to lose at least ten pounds by March 19th. I probably won't be able to get down to my goal weight of 140 lbs. or less by then, but at least it should take me into the "home stretch" of achieving my goal to get my BMI down to 25 or lower. At the end of this challenge I will start up another one called, "SPRING into SUMMER!", which will run from Thursday, March 20th through Thursday, June 19th, the day before the summer solstice, which is Friday, June 20th, at 10:41pm. (13 weeks).

For now, it's one step at a time.

Best wishes for a great weekend!
    💗 Carole

Congraulations on being so close to your goal weight!! Time will fly by, and Summer will be here before we know it!

Almost to the New Year! Have really tried to be focused over the last 10 days. Not really putting in "full effort" right now, but being aware and eating only when hungry (mostly) and focusing on more nutritious foods. Have started to get some exercise in, but not nearly as much as I would like. With the holidays my schedule is completly off, so I will just focus on doing the best I can until after the New Year when everything gets back to "normal".

I would love to be down 10-15 pounds by my birthday on 21MAR, and then another 10 pounds down by end of May (family reunion trip to Croatia). I think this is fairly doable without to much stress. Overall the goal is to get back to a healthy weight range and gain back the muscle I have lost. I just want to feel healthy and strong again, not bloated and tired all the time.

I will weight in on Wednesdays as it should help keep me focused throughout the week and not just leading into the weekend.

Hi! I am looking forward to this challenge, support and accountability! My plans are to weigh each Wednesday, track my food intake, focus on healthy nutrient dense foods, proteins, exercise at a minimum of 4 x/week.

    Hello everyone,

Welcome to our newest members @kristawatkins52 and @sandpiper2014! It sounds like everyone has worthy and achievable, realistic goals for this challenge and beyond. I can relate to feeling bloated and tired when I'm not on track with my wellness goals. @sandpiper2014, my plans are closely aligned with yours, which should really help us make progress towards our goals. In addition, I have also given up alcoholic beverages, effective over this past weekend. That should help my budget and also save a LOT of calories!

As of this morning my scale read only 0.2 lb. higher than my weight on December 1st; so I basically maintained throughout the month of December. I would like to average a one pound loss per week from New Year's day until the first day of Spring, for a total of 10 pounds loss or more by the end of this challenge.

    Have a great day!
    💗Carole

I’m in! Started meal tracking in mid December and logging my exercise and have lost three pounds! Have a goal of ten pounds. Will continue logging and bring healthy meals and snacks to work. Also continue drinking a liter of lemon cucumber water daily to stay hydrated.

Hello, all! I would love to join this challenge. Here's my info.
Current weight is 187, started at 192. Goal (for now) is 160.

My long-term goals are to feel stronger, more flexible/better mobility, and more comfortable in my body. I'd also like to eat like a grown-up instead of eating like a 12-year-old at a slumber party (I'm 53).

Short-term goals for January: track everything, drink lots of water, and stop eating by 6:30 PM to get my GERD under control.

    Hello everyone!
I would love to join this challenge. I’m a 66-year-old male from the UK hoping to reset in 2025. I do exercise regularly (running, cycling and walking) but this is counteracted by the booze and biscuits! I plan to do Dry January to get on an even keel and see how it goes after that.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone soon.

    Hi @LowTechForever,

Welcome! I am 66 also - Greetings from Boston, MA! One of my 2025 resolutions is NO alcohol (It became effective Saturday, December 28th, but I will start my official alcohol-free count tomorrow; so I can celebrate my Soberversary on January 1st, 2026). That alone should save me LOTS of extra calories I don't need; so it will definitely be a "Dry January" for me as well. If you'd like, you're welcome to join in at https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10925577/sober-discussion-ongoing#latest, where we've got a small but really helpful support group going to encourage each other to significantly reduce or even completely eliminate alcohol from our lifestyles. (In my case, it's "all or nothing", because it just so happens that I don't have an "Off" button when it comes to alcoholic beverages!)

I look forward to our challenge kickoff and posting my initial weight, main measurements and scale app stats tomorrow. At the end of the challenge, I will post before/after data to show progress towards my initial goal to lose ten pounds or more by Spring.

Very best wishes to all for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year!🎉

    💖Carole

By the way, recognizing my petite sisters, I just wanted to send a shout-out to all my fellow "shorties"! We have several members (like me) who are 5'3" (or close to that height). Just a few pounds (up or down) can make a very noticeable difference for us!

No matter what your height and build, no matter where you start, we are all on the same path - to feel better and get healthier and closer to our goals! We can do this because we're stronger together: Let's GO!

    Hi @missimjam ,

At your reported current weight of 164, losing 25 lbs. seems like that would put you at a great weight! As an older adult (66), I am reading online that as we age, it's healthier to weigh a bit more.

Although you're much younger, losing 45 lbs. (as suggested by your doctor) would put you at only 119 lbs.! That seems very low to me, but of course, a lot would depend on your build and body composition. (Still, 119?!)

I'd like to get down to a range of 132-140, but no lower or higher, if possible. I was encouraged by the weight ranges I found here:

    https://verywellhealth.com/healthy-weight-and-bmi-range-for-older-adults-2223592

This chart says that at 5'3, my ideal weight range would be 141-152! (I'm about 154 right now, and I can tell you right now, that's TOO MUCH for me!) I know I need to take off at least 15 lbs. to feel like I'm at a comfortable weight. (If you take off 25, you'll be right about where I want to be!) I say we can DO this!
