Hour commitment - I won’t eat again until dinner with DH. Can still have my dose of metamusal.
On our way to a more remote location for 3 nights, so not sure if I can check in, but I will if I can! Also, I’ll be on in 2025, for sure.

Still online!
Hour commitment - I won’t eat again until tomorrow.2 -
I have spent the last 5 days catching up since September.
Glad to see everyone is recovering from their injuries and illnesses. 2024 has been quite the year for me.
I graduated in June with honours as an Education Assistant. I should have done more research on the wage and wage structure before putting us in debt to do it, but I can say that I’m a college graduate and I may be able to do it as a retirement job.
I’ve started working as office manager at a nursing home.
I’m enjoying it so far, except their systems suck.
I worked on a scrapbook for Kaitlyn for Christmas of her wedding 5 years ago! It took me all year to get it done. I finished it at 1110 pm Christmas Eve.
It was April 2018 that I started posting here regularly and I did so well when I was doing so. I’ve decided I’m going to start again this year. I know how much better I felt when I was exercising and eating properly. I need to do it again.
I have a bad flare up of plantar fasciitis I’ve been dealing with this year. I thought I had it mostly cleared up but Winter came and new boots set it off again. Rodger bought me another pair of boots for Christmas, if I can get this under control I think the new boots will work to keep it at bay.
For those of you that remember my grands this is Michaela, she’ll be 9 on Friday.
Jonah turned 13 in September.
Kaitlyn and Brodey have had 2 miscarriages and are starting another round of IVF in January. I’m praying this one is successful for them.
So nice to see you all!

THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES OR SHORTCUTS to achieving permanent change.
REMINDERS One or two thoughts which might give heart to some of you.- Daily weight fluctuations are normal, and can be more than
2 lbs a day for no apparent reason. - A general downward trend is what we are looking for.
- Eating out can cause apparent weight gain because of high sodium levels, but usually goes quickly. Drinking extra water helps with this.
- The human body does not react instantly to what we do to it. Sometimes it can take several days to see results.
- Plateaus are a normal part of the process. The body is consolidating and adapting to your new way of eating/exercising.
- The closer you get to your goal weight, the more difficult it becomes to lose weight, as your body becomes more efficient at using what you feed it.
- When you exercise you build muscle, which takes up less space than fat, so use measurements as well as weight to assess your progress.
- Getting/Staying fit and healthy requires a lifestyle change for most people.

When I see where you started.. and where you are today... you are such an inspiration!! I am at my highest weight... but you give us all the inspiration that we can do it! Thank you for being a part of this thread2 -
@TerriRichardson112 - Wow! What a success story. Thanks for posting your stats.
There is a lot of success on this board and each person’s story and struggles are different.
I’m in a beautiful, yet quaint, airbnb in Petrolia CA and we’re going to go hiking on the Lost Coast today. Petrolia is in the middle of nowhere! But their WIFI works. Have to stay connected
Hour commitment - hearty breakfast before our hiking ( coffee stuff and peanut butter and carrots). Now I won’t eat again for a few hours while we go hiking. Going to have a country supper later!

@mytime6630 Thanks for starting & sharing the link for the 2025 thread. I've bookmarked it, and will start posting there Jan. 1. I'm really looking forward to seeing all the JFTers there!
@snowflake1968 Welcome back! Congrats on your degree, I remember when you were studying so hard. Glad you found a job that you like.
@TerriRichardson112 You are my inspiration! Thanks for sharing your thoughts toward success. I think it fits in well with my mantra: this is my lifestyle, not a diet. My progress may be slow, but it's manageable. Which means I'm less cranky LOL.
Recap 12/30 M Yay, the sun is finally out!
1) Leftovers for supper / limit sweets & snacks ~ popcorn, skyr, 3 pieces taffy / log all food / net calories zero ~ pretty decent at -88 / 80 oz. water Not bad at all, in my book.
2) Walked 3.69 mi had to be watchful for black ice where trees shaded the roads, but no slips or falls & happy me
3) Grocery shopping / top up birdfeeders before cold weather is back / scrub & refill heated birdbath / read / digital declutter / other? TA-DA!
JFT 12/31 T ~ Back to cloudy & temps are cooling off.
1) Month end weight & measurements taken / log on MFP
3) Walked 4.36 mi & happy me
3) Drink 64 oz. water min.
4) Call Mom / finish reading Bible in 1 year / anything else is a win
This morning's walk had me finish the year with 656.61 miles, or 1056.74 km. Over the challenge distance of 1024 km. Very happy me! I'm already registered for the annual challenge for 2025.
Today I am not logging food. Hubby and I have no party or special event to attend, just staying in. Hubby and I are snacking our way through the afternoon & evening with some seldom eaten (high-fat, high-sodium) foods, and I'm allowing myself 1 adult beverage. I will enjoy without going hog-wild, and no regrets. I will log again starting tomorrow on the new thread.
About me:I'm Carmela
This is my lifestyle. It's. Not. A. Diet.
Height 5'4"
67 yrs old
Reside in Green Bay, WI, USA
2024 Goals:1) Ultimate goal weight 150#... I'll be thrilled if I can get back down to 160# this year- Post weekly weigh-in on MFP for accountability. Saturday a.m. is my "official" weigh-in day, and I track daily on a separate app (for the visual). My digital scale only shows half pound increments & I'm too cheap to buy a fancier scale.
- Take measurements & log on MFP every month end
- Try new recipes Unfortunately, no wall oven until mid-Feb or later & sad me, but try slow cooker & stove recipes... wall oven installed 2/26.
* lentil rice sausage tortellini soup (internet) ~ very good, recipe is keeper
* glazed lemon cookies (internet search) ~ everyone loved them at Easter dinner
* rhubarb cobbler (in my first ever cookbook BH&G) ~ very good, I want to try with other fruits this summer
* yellow cake (BH&G cookbook) ~ I followed instructions closely & blended well, very good with rhubarb sauce
* white chicken enchiladas (newspaper) ~ very good, although 2 tortillas with recipe as written 846 calories (created in MFP recipes)
* Greek yogurt almond butter breakfast parfait (newsletter) ~ terrific, if high in calories... maybe tweak
* garlic scape basil pesto (internet blog) ~ excellent! tried as recommended with pasta (used up my radiatore)
* summer squash, zucchini, mushroom casserole (TOH) ~ excellent! & good way to use squash & zucchini
* zucchini meatloaf (sister) ~ good but hubby prefers classic recipe
* moussaka America's Test Kitchen tv show ~ very tasty, nice size portions & filling, though complicated with four distinct layers & many prep steps ~ nice to have an alternate eggplant recipe
* peach cobbler (BH&G) used qt fresh peaches grown in Ripon
* ratatouille (loveandlemons.com) very good vegetarian dish, uses lots of late summer/early fall veggies
* potato leek soup (AllRecipes.com) ~ very good alternate leek soup recipe, easy to make... chopping up so many potatoes was the worst part LOL
* roasted daikon radishes (internet) ~ too long in oven, but seemed to have good flavor, will try again

I just wanted to wish all of you a very blessed, and happy new year. I pray the new year will bring all of us good health, and the very best it can be.
I am so very happy to have this thread, and to have met so many wonderful online friends. I feel so many of you I have known for a long time (and it has been a long time!!). That is wonderful.
Tonite, I was playing on the computer, and I looked back at the first year I started this thread I think was 2017. While I am still not at my goal weight... I have not quit. And you guys have not quit. Look how long many of us have been coming to this thread.
I looked up some of the people that used to post and no longer do. Many of them are no longer even with MFP.. some last posted in 2020, 2021, 2023, etc. So I really do believe that having the friends we have all made has helped all of us to not give up on our health dreams. While for me, the scale does not say the "number" I want it to say, in many ways, I have improved. 8 years ago I never went to the gym.. I hated it. Now, it is the one thing I miss a lot if I can't go because of weather or something else. So.. that is a habit I have made because of the commitment to coming on here. I am more aware most of the time of what I eat... when I stop posting, I get the attitude where I just don't care, but deep down,I do.
So.. thank you all for being a part of my journey to better health. Thank you all for the encouragement and friendship that so many of us have. And to anyone planning on joining us... you will also be welcomed and will soon feel the same way. Love to you all!!
And a very Happy New Year!! 2025 will be a great year!1 -
I’m returning to this group after a protracted absence - life got difficult and I made excuses. I lost the focus on healthy eating and exercise with the inevitable result! I am committed to doing better this year and know that being accountable on MFP helps.
Goals for today
Weigh ✅ I didn’t like what I saw …. No wonder my jeans were getting tight!
Charge Fitbit and then put it on (I probably need a new one as it goes flat after about a day)
Do some indoor exercise - I don’t fancy going out in the rain/sleet.
Log food
Use Drink Aware App - I want to cut down alcohol by having more alcohol free days and drinking less on the days I chose to. 🍾 today as I was asleep before midnight.
Drink a flask of water.
My word for 2025 is commitment.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2025
