Happy New Year’s Eve. So normally on the 1st people start their new resolutions. I’m starting mine on Sunday instead. Mostly because I’m more motivated by the days of the week than the date. Since the 1st is in the middle of the week and still eating holiday foods that are around I thought Sunday Jan. 5th was a better start day. Although I may wake tomorrow and be motivated to stay on track.

Not much is happening here. My Son’s dog Mocha had her pups yesterday at 4 am. My son and ex were not happy with the timing. LOL. she had 8, 7 lived but they are no bigger than a minute so they are going to be small dogs.

If possible I would like to ask what could be the results of temperament of these pups when they were sired by the Mother’s sire? So the male dog father Mocha’s mother, Mocha and Mocha’s pups. My ex refuses to get his male fixed which would help all of the females.

My son said that after Mocha is done weening her pups he will get her fixed.

    January 1st. 2025

    WEIGHT 226.

    New Year New Commitment
My official start date is Sunday but I do like to keep track of my weight at the beginning of each year. My weight on Jan 1st 2024 was 234. I’m starting this one 8 lbs less. Since I was able to keep that much weight off total for the year I’m proud of myself.

I’m going to keep my plan simple. Eat as compatible to the O blood type as possible. Start some exercise on a more regular basis. On that note I start physiotherapy on my left shoulder in January on the 6th. This will be very helpful.

My sleep didn’t come to me as soon as I like but I did get a solid sleep. auc2mulw3nnj.jpeg

So let me get this straight, Mocha got bred by her father? I’ve seen many such cases over the years where people, for God knows whatever reason, don’t think animals will commit incest… There are increased risk of birth defects but other than that, it’s icky but harmless! And I’ve spayed many a pregnant female - no ethical dilemma for me! FEWER UNWANTED PUPPIES, that’s my goal!
I also don’t know why so many human males seem to have an unhealthy attachment to their dogs’ testicles, but go figure. It’s not just a question of birth control but their long-term health - I have offered many times to put them in a jar so the guy can hang onto them if that makes him feel better.

So my 2025 ain’t off to the best start - I woke up shortly before 7 AM with a splitting headache**, even though I didn’t drink a drop last night. I made cornbread & black-eyed peas with ham so my weight was sitting at 192 even this morning. Maybe I can blame the nitrites in the cured meat??
** Took some ibuprofen & laid back down for an hour and a half
I am committing to Carnivore January: I’ve got half a leftover steak which I’m gonna slice up and eat with some eggs (this was the air fryer steak that turned out a little bit tough, so the egg yolks should make it more palatable)
I’ve been following a lady on Twittard who has cured her health issues with a carnivore diet; she has written a book which I will certainly buy! “10 steps farther” is advice I can take to heart…

My son Davey knew it would happen because it did when before. The thing is he did not know Mocha was in heat so they weren’t keeping separate. He only figured it out about 2 weeks ago, before the puppies were due. I saw Davey today and he said they lost a pup so he is down to 6. Mostly males too, he thinks.

I’m sorry you woke with such a headache today. Could be a change in weather is coming. That is usually the cause of my headaches that wake me.

I’m mostly carnivore in my plan except that I only eat food that is good for O blood type. I don’t have the patience to cook veggies. That is why I eat a lot of beef and chicken and eggs.

I think my recent headaches are from the old moldy wood that Hubby has been burning in our stove… This morning, a slight headache, nowhere near as bad as New Year’s Day. That’s good bcz “friend of a friend’s” old mare is down, sounds like I’m going to have to go help lay her to rest (poor old thing is 32)
A few more minutes to slurp down my coffee & enjoy my warm lapfull of little dogs…

    Jan. 1st. Meals and sleep

Meals were good. I did have a couple of drinks. My choice right now is Tia Maria and almond milk. My almond milk is not unsweetened like usual but it’s all the store had. mqnamu7a4e70.jpeg
Sleep was good. It took me longer than expected to fall asleep. Lights were out at 11:30 pm. The over 2 hrs of deep sleep is what made it so restful. I also managed to get a full 8 hrs too. 3hs6yawm046u.jpeg
My poor Shamie has an ear infection. It’s not in the usual ear so I don’t catch on until NYE. We see the vet tomorrow. In the mean time to give him a little relief I’m using some of the meds the vet sent home for Xena. Not the antibiotic for her ears but the follow up or maintenance meds.m1twa3gnyvmd.jpeg Shamie Davey Chewie. My dogs and son.

Great photo!!! This morning is overcast but thankfully the Arctic blast won’t come through until Monday… So I’m planning a short ride w/my padawan Tony, a young man who used to ride w/me several years ago, he’s decided he’d like to hit the trails again…
It’s always nice when your little chickadees come back “home”!
I’m really foggy-headed this morning, guess I slept too hard - but Thurs night wasn’t bad either:

    Jan. 3rd. Meals & Sleep

Well meals were ok yesterday. It was a busy day too. I went to get my son’s GF and son to sit with Chewie while I took Shamie to the vet. Shamie has 2 ear infection and a skin bacterial infection. I was at the vet on Monday with my son’s dog Xena that had the same thing plus fleas. By the time I got home and took everyone home the dogs tore apart a bag of dog food. They have never done this but ever since Chewie tore a box apart and found chocolate to eat in it nothing is safe from there nose. Everything will have to come into the house and nothing can be left on the porch. It’s a good thing Chewie can’t open the fridge.0zx9fibxh2fh.jpeg. Sleep came slowly but I got a good rest. I wish I could get the deep sleep over 2 hrs like the other dayj8u87su50ebs.jpeg

Some how I have managed to get 7 days of exercise in. I did this without even trying. Most of the exercise has to have been from rocking. mvsu0ch75eqe.jpeg

So, Chewie lives up to his name?? My sweet Willow lost her first two happy homes by being a destructive chewer. Thankfully by the time I got her, she was about 8 mos old, had probably outgrown the worst of it, and had lots of buddies around here to preoccupy her & help keep her out of trouble! Now she’s the perfect lil’ couch potato… we make jokes about getting the WD-40 bcz she whines when she needs to go out - “Honey, get the WD-40; Willow is squeaking!”
No comment on my meals which haven’t been too great, nor my exercise as I haven’t done very much as I’m still fighting off this cough. Hopefully I’ll get another chance to ride mañana before the cold snap descends upon us…

Well I shouldn’t have jinxed myself - of course I didn’t get to ride yesterday; I was running around trying to prep for the relatively mild winter storm we’re gonna have: everybody freaks out when temperatures drop below freezing around here, whether or not we get precipitation.
Clear skies, but windy and cold this morning x I hauled hot water to the horses and made their beet pulp mash. Everybody seems fine. Zach will be my stand-in at meeting with social worker today to do progress report (ha!)/planning & evaluation of my mom. No friggin’ way can I attend an 11 AM meeting on a Monday; I’ll be there as soon as I can…
She won’t be getting the cast on her arm until Thursday, but even so, she is so weak & frail, I’m sure the recommendation will be for her to stay in skilled nursing. I hate for her to not be able to have Abby with her but I’ll take her for visits. At least she’s getting on well down here on the farm!

Ordinarily in the evenings after I watch my allotment of (original) Star Trek, I scroll through PBS & wind up w/a cooking program or a travelogue… But Monday night they showed “Essential Stretch” which is modified yoga-inspired stuff; I got up out of my recliner to give it a go! My R knee was making the most alarming snap/crackle/popping sounds but it was painless so I kept on going. I’m so remarkably deconditioned that it made me a little bit sore, especially up in the arms & shoulders with some isometric-type things she was doing.
We will have a little freezing precipitation overnight, which will make getting mom to her doctor’s appt tomorrow challenging, but I can only do the best that I can do! I’ll see my new DO in 2 wks - judging by what she’s advised Misti to do, she’ll have me cut out most carbs & do an elimination-type diet. Maybe this will help - my shortness of breath is concerning.

Wow. That looks really interesting. Shortness of breath is very concerning.

I haven’t done so well with eating this week but sleeping has been good.

I’m just feeling unmotivated. I’ll need to find my motivation again.

Feeling particularly demoralized because I feel as if I wasted my entire day yesterday getting mom to her doctor’s appointment - in the end we decided to continue to manage her wrist fracture with the Velcro splint I bought!!??!!
While it’s wonderful that we took follow up X-rays that showed her bone is healing, it was miserable weather for travel and she was miserable by the time we were done - her back was hurting, etc. I got her settled back in bed, came home and basically collapsed.
My sleep doesn’t look too bad but that long “awake period” around 1 AM was miserable, I’m not feeling particularly well-rested this morning. My motivation is likewise MIA.

My sleep show I slept 1hr 22 min. I think I might have slept longer but it sure didn’t register as such so I might have been terribly restless.

Ugh, I feel for ya on the crap sleep… I’m trying to sort out my best options for stringing together a few decent hours of sleep tonight. On a few nights when I’ve rationed myself a half-glass of wine, it has seemed to help?
But tonight, I sliced up a slightly tough Costco ribeye & made Korean bulgogi out of it - I think it turned out great, even though I sautéed it on my cast iron griddle. Too cold to stand out there over the grill!
I only used 1 T of sugar to save a few carbs:

My big dumb Dobie-doo Dominic tangled with somebody who lacerated his R ear, so now he’s bandaged up like a babushka. Of course he bled like a hog & soaked his shoulder - obviously it could’ve been worse.

Oh dear. I understand about the dog’s ears bleeding so bad. My son took mine and his dogs with his tobogganing and came home with Shamie with his ear bleeding. It took both of us to get the ear to stop bleeding only to find out that he must’ve snagged it on the thorn. It was the smallest cut that bled so profusely.

I got 9 hrs of sleep last night except I didn’t fall asleep till after two in the morning and I didn’t wake up until almost 1 PM so my day is kind of *kitten*. I just like to fall asleep before midnight and wake up prior to 10 am

I think I’ve found the secret ingredient which is 4 oz of red wine right before bedtime… I slept very well even though the FitBit shows restlessness, I only recall having to get up twice to urinate, around 3 & then again at 5 AM.
This morning we had to wrangle a round bale out into the muddy pasture - our “Itsy-Bitsey” tractor just can’t manage! (It’s a Mitsubishi that P bought after Ex stole the big John Deere) It does fine with the mowing but it’s not big enough for other farm work. Dominic managed to shove his bandage down so our garage looks like an abattoir - I’ll scrub the bloodstains when I get back from checking on my poor mom. Apparently the lump by her collarbone was an abscess which started draining last night - the nurse called me, she is now on doxycycline.

Wow. You have had some extraordinary days. We got some snow over night. Not much just a few inches. Nothing unusual for our area. The dear and the coyotes have been busy moving through the property that gets the dogs all wound up. I’m taking CBN which helps me with my sleep. It’s from weed.

Is weed legal in Texas? I take oil to help get to sleep and pills for the stay asleep

CBD is legal in TX, & we now have a plethora of “smokes & edibles”-type head shops - a lot of them are selling products with THC. Also loads of Delta 8 & other synthetic THC analogues - I know you can get busted with this stuff, but I don’t know all the legal ins & outs? I don’t have a dog in this fight, especially since alcohol is our number one legal drug. Many folks in my thyroid cancer group used THC for symptom control, also think it helps repress the cancer? I need more evidence…
My weight is hanging at 191, not complaining since I went out for a cheeseburger with hubby last night - had some onion rings & a few cheese curds. The wind is a little too cold this morning to be excited about riding; I’ve got to go check on my mom and slip some paperwork under my bookkeeper’s door - I wanted to take it to her Friday, but apparently they took an inclement weather day! Can’t call it a snow day because we didn’t get any snow, just rain…

My sleep was again lousy. It says 4 hrs. I did set an alarm so I wouldn’t sleep past 10 am. I have no idea what tonight will bring.

Yeah, my sleep score last night was an 80, but I don’t feel like an “80” this morning - I feel like a solid C- !!!
At least I’ve got the three little dogs piled on my lap this morning which is very pleasant. And I unbandaged Dominic‘s ear which has finally quit bleeding… I scrubbed most of the blood out of the garage but there’s still droplets out on the driveway. NCIS would have a field day, but sorry, guys, it’s just dog blood!
I’m irritated because I couldn’t drop the paperwork off at my bookkeeper’s new office yesterday because there’s no dropbox - I couldn’t get inside the building! Hopefully things won’t be too hectic today and I can go over there at lunchtime…

My sleep was under 7 hrs and I woke up cold. Which sucks because now I’m going to be cold all day unless I can shake this chill off. Food was not too bad but I did have a couple of drinks last night.

I can’t explain why I was seized with anxiety last night at bedtime, so it took me a long time to go to sleep & my sleep again was poor & restless. I haven’t even bothered to look at last night’s statistics - I know how I feel, which is crappy! And I’m with you on the cold intolerance - I feel as if I could live in the bathroom, huddled over my propane heater.
Thankfully I’ve only done 1 pound of harm to myself, my weight is hanging at 192 this morning. I’m lucky it isn’t more, considering I drove through the Mickey D’s drive-through yesterday coming back from my bookkeeper’s.
My one household chore was getting my nativity set packed away - it’s the only Christmas decoration I put out this year
    mkdgupul53p3.jpeg

I’ve collected these pieces since 1992, when I moved into my farmhouse - of course I concentrated on the animals! Lenox discontinued making these sets shortly after Y2K I believe. They make me feel sadly nostalgic - of course the first piece I collected was the donkey!

Those look awesome. My sleep didn’t come until after 4:30 am. Up at 11. Only because I set my alarm.

Today my son is asking to take ex to 2 dr. App on Thursday. I said yes. To help him not my ex.

My girls scheduled 2 farm calls for me yesterday afternoon - I suppose they wanted to get outside while this weather was fairly pleasant? But I was really tired, stiff & sore afterwards - I stopped and picked up a pizza for dinner! Surprisingly enough, my weight stayed stable…
Social worker finally called me back yesterday, and we will be getting paperwork started for mom to transfer to the Villages for skilled nursing care. I have no idea how she’s going to take the news - probably in the same apathetic, withdrawn manner she’s been displaying since this last hospitalization… I’m stressed & depressed about it, but nothing to do but keep moving forward.
    Here’s my sleep from Monday night - it really didn’t even feel like a 73 although I was giving myself a C- wasn’t I??
    z8yi76gua9ef.jpeg
Last night was a little better, but it was tough getting out of bed when sweet little Izzy came up to snuggle with me - she was warm as toast after being behind the woodburning stove!

I finally slept last night. I fell asleep at midnight and slept strait through. 9 hours. I didn’t even get up to pee until it was morning. It was the best sleep I had in three days. lbxw987ifkec.jpegFood was good. I had an appointment at 1 pm so I didn’t eat until 2:30ish I think. I had four fillets of fish and was still full come supper time so I didn’t eat again. I did make myself a couple of drinks. Now my Christmas alcohol is all gone so no more alcohol until my birthday. Unless of course there’s a special occasion comes up that I’m not aware of.
