Do you have patience and some time to indulge me? I bought a new Pixel Watch 3, as it is highly regarded as a running watch. So far it is really accurate and give a bunch of high-tech data surrounding my running: stride length, step cadence, ground contact time, vertical ratio, vertical oscillation.

Though I'm just trying to have fun and lose some weight :)

The ecosystem provided to look at all of this stuff is the new and improved Fitbit app. It's disappointing there is not a web page interface, it is all on phone. Their ecosystem really don't translate well to all of the stuff I already have. I want to try it to get familiar.

They have a "Groups" thing. It is restricted to 'private groups' though I'm not really sure what their 'public groups' are. If anyone has their data going to Fitbit, I'd like to see if we could experiment a bit in their groups. I believe first steps are to "Friend" a person, then they can be invited into a "Group." Then what happens there in group between group members is TBD...that's what I want to figure out.

If this sounds like you, thank you, and I think this is the listed steps to 'Friend': https://support.google.com/fitbit/answer/14237026?hl=en-AU&sjid=13373347472689650476-NA#zippy=%2Chow-do-i-add-fitbit-friends

On the app you'll 'friend' me...using the "find people by username" tab. For me I believe my username is the same as here: chris_in_cal

Once Friended I'll invite you to the "MFP Runners" group I created (with me as the sole member.) I'm not asking for a big commitment, just interact a couple of times to see what it looks like and what it does. Thanks.

    01/02 2.85 miles
    02/01 2.63 miles

    Total 5.48 / 60 miles

Got out early for me on a Sunday morning for my run as we had my niece & Goddaughter’s 3rd birthday party. Lots of naughty calories consumed

I think I sent a friend request in Fitbit.

EDIT: nope, it says failed to send request, no user found with username chris_in_cal

@AlphaHowls Baby cows are so cute. Glad you are able to get outside for some runs lately.

@chris_in_cal Hugs for all you went through in 2024. That's all tough. Hopefully, 2025 will be much better for you.

    1 Feb - Walked 1.10 miles - Ran 2.10 miles - Treadmill
    2 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway laps

    4.20/80 miles goal

I did my normal Sunday, rest day walk. But, it was outside today. First time in a long time! It was 60F (15.6C) and no wind, so I couldn't let that go without at least a little outside time.

    It's a learning process.

Turns out I still needed to create a Fitbit username, and I can't use underscores.

Therefore my actual brand new username has dashes in it instead: chris-in-cal

    February Goal: 125 miles

    2/2: 13.25 miles

    13.25/125 miles completed for February

The weather was great this morning so I ran 13.25 miles. One of my goals for the year is to run the half marathon distance at least 4 times. So the 1st quarter HM is in the books. It was great! I wore shorts and a tank top. I also saw a couple of deer. I did have to sneak into the cemetery because they hadn't unlocked the gate yet. I ran in there for about 25 minutes and had to sneak out because they still hadn't come to unlock it. It is supposed to be unlocked around 7 and it was 9:45 when I was there. All in all, it was a great run. We should have nice temperatures all week so Iam looking forward to that. I am over winter.

Great job and great costumes @martaindale. Congrats to your friend!

    Great running @kgirlhart .

@ContraryMaryMary You did great for running in the heat and "humour.:  When you do get out in the cool of the day, you're going to feel so good and run forever.

@WarmJellyfish My treadmill is one of the best investments I ever made. I know myself and I would NOT run if I had to get out in the cold to do it. I admire those who do, but it's not me.

    I'm glad it was fun @chris_in_cal .

    Great run @tarun_yadavA .
