1 Feb - Walked 1.10 miles - Ran 2.10 miles - Treadmill
3.20/80 miles goal
I didn't sleep very good last night and was just tired today. I did make myself get up and do a treadmill run. To honor today as my dad's birthday, I ran 2.1 miles (at an avg pace of 12:33 min/mile). I also walked 1.10 miles to make 3.2 miles total. This made 2-1-32 which was my dad's birthday. He would have been 93 had he still been here.
Later, I played plumber and managed to get my kitchen drain cleared enough that I can at least use it until the actual plumber gets here.7 -
This month, my goal is 60 miles. Today, I ran/walked a chilly, slippery 5K. So, I have 56.9 miles to go.8

Hello new folks! welcome
Today was weird. Had jet lag, was awake at 4am, might as well go for a run while the temps are still not too low. Made it a total of 1k before deciding I was underdressed and went back to sleep after
Managed in a 8k later in the afternoon at -18c/0f. Got to get my brain back on track with the 50 degree difference between vacation last week and here
Onwards we go lol9 -
Pilates class this morning - and a brutal way to start a Sunday. I thorn mowed the lawn and did some weed eating and then done weeding in the brutal heat of the day before giving up and hopping in the pool with a G&T. Just done 20 mins of yoga so day 2 of Feb still on track.7
-
My running goal for the month is 60 km
I also plan to keep up with rucking when my daughter is training, hopefully 2 strength training in the week, 1 pilates and more yoga... I am not quite sure where I will find the time for all that but I will try
Yesterday was my first parkrun of the month, I wasn't feeling great but still did a good time for myself
1st Feb 5km parkrun (6:47 min / km pace)
5 km done, 55 left to do
@martaindale I love the costume7 -

Feb Running Goal: 28 miles
10.4 lbs.weight loss (241.5 lbs -> 231.1 lbs) (July 2024 to date)
I'm Chris; I live in San Diego, California.
This month I'm going to go back to the simple, slow way of getting consistency by running a neighborhood mile loop everyday (at least.)
In July I moved away from this challenge and am coming back here now. I very much appreciate this challenge and the people here who keep it alive.
I was gobsmacked by an explosion of things that happened in my life in the second half of 2024. I had a cancer diagnosis along with successful treatment. I met a nice lady and went through that dance for several months until it ended. I was offered my dream job to relocate to Manhattan which I considered and then rejected. My mom passed away and the dissolving of what's left of a family. Adding to this 2024 offering, in January 2025 to celebrate getting through all of that I went on a vacation to return to my happy place where all of my friends and good memories are in Oakland and the Bay Area. During the trip I landed in the emergency room suffering from issues surrounding an enlarged prostate, then flew home.
On to a new month. I'm upright and breathing, it is a beautiful day, and here is my positive plan for this month.
Please connect on Garmin if you have one.

@martaindale awesome costume!
Got in a short trail run this morning. -26c/-15F. A bit nippy
@SummerSkier the face mask you recommended worked great! Although I looked a bit like the Riddler....
@chris_in_cal glad to see you're up an about
@AlphaHowls gorgeous sky!
@Emilienewme I'm getting back into rucking too
@steviebee888 nice job
@quilteryoyo nice way to honor your dad's birthday
@John772016 hello fellow canuck. Yes, running is a great way to keep the # monster at bay4 -
Do you have patience and some time to indulge me? I bought a new Pixel Watch 3, as it is highly regarded as a running watch. So far it is really accurate and give a bunch of high-tech data surrounding my running: stride length, step cadence, ground contact time, vertical ratio, vertical oscillation.
Though I'm just trying to have fun and lose some weight
The ecosystem provided to look at all of this stuff is the new and improved Fitbit app. It's disappointing there is not a web page interface, it is all on phone. Their ecosystem really don't translate well to all of the stuff I already have. I want to try it to get familiar.
They have a "Groups" thing. It is restricted to 'private groups' though I'm not really sure what their 'public groups' are. If anyone has their data going to Fitbit, I'd like to see if we could experiment a bit in their groups. I believe first steps are to "Friend" a person, then they can be invited into a "Group." Then what happens there in group between group members is TBD...that's what I want to figure out.
If this sounds like you, thank you, and I think this is the listed steps to 'Friend': https://support.google.com/fitbit/answer/14237026?hl=en-AU&sjid=13373347472689650476-NA#zippy=%2Chow-do-i-add-fitbit-friends
On the app you'll 'friend' me...using the "find people by username" tab. For me I believe my username is the same as here: chris_in_cal
Once Friended I'll invite you to the "MFP Runners" group I created (with me as the sole member.) I'm not asking for a big commitment, just interact a couple of times to see what it looks like and what it does. Thanks.3 -
Hi everyone!
Great costume @martaindale! Hope you enjoy you half today as well!!! It looks like fun!
@SummerSkier Great running and nice shoes! I think it’s about time I ordered a new pair too.
I ran 11.1km while my son was at a soccer tournament. I only missed 2 of the 6 games and still got to watch the rest, so it was definitely a win-win. I was supposed to run another 20 minutes further, but am happy with the distance I got in and will try to “redo “ the hard part of the run tomorrow.
It was a progression run, so the first 30 minutes were really slow, the next 30 minutes were a bit uncomfortable, but not too uncomfortable to listen to an audiobook, and the last 30 (or in my case 10 minutes) were hard. I definitely had a much harder time dialling in the hard pace without going unsustainably fast, so I want to try the same workout again tomorrow but focus on getting the last 30 minutes at target pace.
11.1km for February.

I think I sent a friend request in Fitbit.

Running Streak: 278 days
10K steps/day Streak: 33
Strength Training: 0/12x
Feb total 10/80 miles
YTD: 92.3 miles
2/1 6.0 miles
2/2 4.0 miles
Happy February!! I like it when the month starts on the weekend so I feel like I'm making good progress out of the gate!
Saturday I slept until 8:30... about 2+ hours later than normal for Sat and I didn't get out for my run until 11:30. I really needed the sleep!! I managed a 6 mi run in Leawood KS that took me to the 95% completed milestone, but doggone it if I didn't miss some nodes (on a street that I thought was part of a parking lot), so I revised another route to pick that up on a future run. I should be able to finish in the next week or two.
This morning I got a 4 mi run in with my blind running friend and another of her guides.

Feb total 20.5/100 miles
YTD: 137.4 miles
2/1: 6.5 miles
2/2: 14 miles
Today was the HM. It was a tad warmer today and more comfortable for waiting around in the corrals but still very decent running temps. It was my friend's first HM. I had a great time encouraging her through it. She did great! She has officially been bitten by the bug and is already talking about her next HM and what her new time goal will be!
Today's costume was Safari Minnie, which went with the theme of the HM.
After the race, breakfast, and shower we went to the park for medal photos. They ended up being really cute!10 -
Glad to see you back @steviebee888 .
That's got to be tough @WarmJellyfish . I'm impressed that you get out in those temps. Thanks.
You're doing great @ContraryMaryMary ! Keep it up.
Excellent pace for the 5K @Emilienewme !
Fantastic run @tarun_yadavA .
@AlphaHowls Baby cows are so cute. Glad you are able to get outside for some runs lately.
@chris_in_cal Hugs for all you went through in 2024. That's all tough. Hopefully, 2025 will be much better for you.
Great use of your time and run @Laurz9191 .

1 Feb - Walked 1.10 miles - Ran 2.10 miles - Treadmill
2 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway laps
4.20/80 miles goal
I did my normal Sunday, rest day walk. But, it was outside today. First time in a long time! It was 60F (15.6C) and no wind, so I couldn't let that go without at least a little outside time.4 -
It's a learning process.chris_in_cal wrote: »On the app you'll 'friend' me...using the "find people by username" tab. For me I believe my username is the same as here: chris_in_cal

February Goal: 125 miles
2/2: 13.25 miles
13.25/125 miles completed for February
The weather was great this morning so I ran 13.25 miles. One of my goals for the year is to run the half marathon distance at least 4 times. So the 1st quarter HM is in the books. It was great! I wore shorts and a tank top. I also saw a couple of deer. I did have to sneak into the cemetery because they hadn't unlocked the gate yet. I ran in there for about 25 minutes and had to sneak out because they still hadn't come to unlock it. It is supposed to be unlocked around 7 and it was 9:45 when I was there. All in all, it was a great run. We should have nice temperatures all week so Iam looking forward to that. I am over winter.
Great job and great costumes @martaindale. Congrats to your friend!

I love your style @martaindale - I’m always too chicken to run in a costume.
It is great that the weather was good for walking outside @quilter_yoyo, that’s got to be so much better than the treadmill.
Nice running everyone else!
I did 6k today but rather than running in the misty cool of the morning, for some unfathomable reason I ran in the brutal heat and humour at 1pm. Gotta stop that 🥵5 -
@martaindale I love how coordinated your costume is! Down to the shoes. The gloves are a nice touch. Those medals are awesome. Congrats to your friend for doing it.
@quilteryoyo Lol I don't have a treadmill, so I have not much of a choice.
@ContraryMaryMary I'll trade you for some heat...
@kgirlhart nice job on the half

Today for fun I did a triathlon. I wanted to see how it would like using the 'triathlon' activity on my Garmin. I swam in my gym's pool, went out and rode my bike, then parked it and ran a mile. I did the thing in about :50 minutes. It was fun.

Morning all
Got in 5.5M at 09"51
@quilteryoyo 🤗
@martaindale well done on those three successive races!
What was the post Half pig-out meal?5 -
Great running @kgirlhart .
@ContraryMaryMary You did great for running in the heat and "humour.:When you do get out in the cool of the day, you're going to feel so good and run forever.
@WarmJellyfish My treadmill is one of the best investments I ever made. I know myself and I would NOT run if I had to get out in the cold to do it. I admire those who do, but it's not me.
I'm glad it was fun @chris_in_cal .
Great run @tarun_yadavA .

Feb 1 – 10 miles
Feb 3 – 5.19 miles
Total – 15.19 miles
I ran 5.19 miles before work today. It was weird how warm 34F felt this morning.
OMG @WarmJellyfish -15F and you are still getting out there. Another tough cookie in our group!
Sorry about such a rough 2024 @chris_in_cal but glad you came back to the group. I don’t know anything about the Fitbit world. Great job on your tri!
@Laurz9191 – That progression run sounds tough.
Congratulations on all your Disney races @martaindale and all the bling! Hope you had some energy left to enjoy the parks with your friend.
Happy Birthday to your niece and goddaughter @Mari33a!
@rusgolden – I like when the month stars on a weekend also. I can’t imagine first of all even being blind but then running. That takes some skillz and determination!
Looks like we’re in for decent (but wet) weather all week @quilteryoyo. Glad you were able to enjoy it yesterday.
Great job with your HM distance @kgirlhart!
@ContraryMaryMary – You will be ready for all the seasons!
I saw on Strava that you were a local legend today @tarun_yadavA! Congrats!

01.02 3.2km 25min 7:52/km - 10x 20/40s intervals
03.03 3.2km 25min 7:46/km - 15min faster
6.44km
No wind, about freezing. Perfect run. 10 minute warm up 15 minutes (with 2 short walks) faster. This was fab! I now know that I need to wear super warm clothes for running.7 -
