The wind was really strong and made the run tough. Short runs definitely work for back weather
@chris_in_cal Great effort in ur triathlon! U really came through a tough time last year3 -

Go do a race at a Disney park and it's easy. So many people in costumes so you blend right in!tarun_yadavA wrote: »@martaindale well done on those three successive races!
What was the post Half pig-out meal?
The start times are so early that we ended up having breakfast at the hotel every morning as our post -race meal. Kinda boring, I know. But I did get ice cream one day, cookie dough with little bits of snickers in it. And today we got a reservation at goofy's kitchen for breakfast before heading home. It's buffet style with lots of delicious options.Congratulations on all your Disney races @martaindale and all the bling! Hope you had some energy left to enjoy the parks with your friend.
We took a break but went back for some rides and managed to stay at the parks until 9:30 or so. We both were so tired and crashed when we got to the hotel. It was a lot of fun. We are now talking about trying to coordinate a Disney world race for October so we can finish the coast to coast challenge for this year. It's really fun to do these trips with her.8 -

Thanks @Teresa502 . You are doing great.
@yirara Glad you had a great run!
You're doing great @daria0919 .
Great runs @John772016 .
Running in the wind is tough @Mari33a .
@martaindale I'm glad you have a friend to race with. I'm sure that makes it a lot more fun. Hope you can get the Oct race worked out.
Welcome @Jhardyman1 . If both feet are off the ground at the same time, you're running. The definition of a jogger on this log is only if you find a dead body while you are exercising - because the news media always says the body was found by a jogger, never a runner. LOL

1 Feb - Walked 1.10 miles - Ran 2.10 miles - Treadmill
2 Feb - Walked 1.00 miles - Ran 0.00 miles - Driveway laps
3 Feb - Walked 0.85 miles - Ran 2.25 miles - Driveway laps - Gym-about 30 min (didn't turn on Garmin)
7.30/80 miles goal
I went to the gym this morning. I failed to turn Garmin on, so guessing time and calories. Today was legs and dead lift. She had me do raised heel squats today, 3 sets of 10. Those really fatigued my quads. I was having trouble walking across the gym to get to the dead lifts.Today, I maxed out on dead lift at 75 pounds x 10 reps.
More homeowner woes today - noticed my heat pump wasn't working last night. I did get a technician out today. The repair was going to be too much for an 11 year old unit, so have someone coming tomorrow to give me an estimate for a new one. Good news is that the aux heat is still working AND it's warm this week, so I won't get cold....and it worked during the really cold weather last week.
After they left, I went out for a driveway session. It was 70F (21.1C), so really nice. I wasn't sure what my legs would allow me to do, so wasn't going to push it. Running felt really odd at first because of how tight my quads were. They loosened up a bit. I counted the first 2.25 miles as a run (didn't walk too much of it) then walked the last 0.85 miles. The running portion was an avg pace of 13:32 min/mile. Avg HR was 147 with a max of 167 bpm.
I will be surprised if walking is not really painful tomorrow.6 -
I was able to get out after work and do a neighborhood mile loop.
This morning I busted through the 230 lbs. barrier (229.5) I've been logging nearly all days for a couple of weeks now. I have a big bag of clothes that I marked "225" on the outside. It's been a few years, so I'm excited to open it up (probably run it all through the wash) and see my new/old wardrobe.
I am having a deck and shade built in my backyard and it is all coming together. In a month or so I'm going to have a grand opening party with the neighbors.8 -
Pilates today, always a good workout. I’m feeling a bit tired today with school starting which means I’m being pulled out of bed earlier than I’d like. I really need to start going to bed earlier as tiredness makes me want to snack so I am doing my level best to be good today. There may be skipping in my evening…7

February Goal: 125 miles
2/2: 13.25 miles
2/3: 4.02 miles
17.27/125 miles completed for February
Thanks @warmjellyfish, @quilteryoyo, @Teresa502. It was another nice morning for a run. I was planning to run 3 miles, but I wasn't paying attention and I missed my turn and ended up running 4 miles. It was about 60°F and a little windy, but still nice and perfect shorts and t-shirt weather. When I got home I saw a skunk. He was in my neighbor's yard and headed towards my yard. He walked right past my porch. I thought he was going to go up the steps, but he turned and went on his way. I had to wait until he wasn't between me and the house. He was very interesting looking. Instead of being black with a white stripe down his back, he was white with a black stripe. He feet were black too, but he was mostly white.

@kgirlhart I have never heard of a reverse skunk. How cool. And glad he did not spray but maybe those kind have reverse perfume too.🙃🧐😏
Congrats @chris_in_cal on your progress and getting to play with more clothes! always a fun part of losing some..
Got another 7 miler in yesterday but it was dank out. Totally almost raining and warm. Then it got up to 80 for my tennis match. Hard to believe it was in the 20's a few weeks ago.
@warmjellyfish glad that mask is working for you. I like it because it is so lightweight and does not fog up my glasses and I can ALMOST breathe right in it.
@quilteryoyo so sorry about all your house woes. It seems like sometimes everything wants to fall apart at the same time. 😖😏 Hope that you can get everything back to snuff without a ton of $$ and time but sadly that's hardly ever the case5 -
Congrats on your weight loss and new wardrobe @chris_in_cal !
Routine changes are hard. You'll get back into it soon @ContraryMaryMary . Maybe find some healthy snacks for when you are tired. I know that is NOT what the body craves during those times, but maybe you could find something that satisfies. I've started eating a handful of almonds and that usually does the trick.
Great run @kgirlhart . Glad the skunk went on it's way. I don't think I've seen a white skunk. That's interesting.
Increasing that standard run my half a mile I see @tarun_yadavA .
Great running @SummerSkier ! And thanks. Just sitting here waiting on the repair people to show up today to see what the damages are going to be.

@quilteryoyo quads workouts are a love hate relationship...
@kgirlhart I had to google it to see what it might looked like the skunk. Why are skunks so danged cute.
So yesterday I sat on sidelines as I now have a sore throat and a nasty cough. Will see if tonight after work I'm up for any distance at all. Doesn't help temps are still in the mid -25Cs /-15f ish.
Maybe the cold temps can help kill the throat germs....7 -
Feb 1 – 10 miles
Feb 3 – 5.19 miles
Feb 4 – 3.10 miles (treadmill)
Total – 18.29 miles
I ran a 5K on my treadmill this morning. My heart rate was the highest though a few minutes later when I was trying to catch a mouse/mole that my cat brought into the house. She actually brought it in yesterday and lost it under the dishwasher. She stood guard all night and when I got up this morning she had moved her headquarters to the downstairs study. I finally found it and relocated it back to the outside world. Not without a squeal or two.
Congratulations on the weight loss @chris_n_cal!
Sorry about the heat pump @quilteryoyo. The joys of home ownership!
Glad you were able to avoid the skunk @kgirlhart. Must be mating season as I have seen a lot out the past week or so.
Hope you feel better soon @WarmJellyFish!

Thanks @SummerSkier I'm screwing up my courage to take a 225 selfie in my new/old clothes when that day comes. I'm fiddling around with Fitbit and could use help, would you Fitbit-friend me? Username chris-in-cal
Thanks.

Hi everyone!
@chris_in_cal Congratulations on your progress! That is awesome!
@Teresa502 I am glad you successfully kicked out your unwanted house guest.
@quilteryoyo Great job with the weight training. Hope you are not sore tomorrow! Sorry to hear about your house problems!
Yesterday, I had to cut my workout short. I still ran 9km, but I think I needed a bit more recovery time before pushing myself again, so today I took a rest day BUT bought new running shoes. For the first time I bought a pair of Hokas (see spoiler), but I also really liked the pair of Brooks Glycerin I tried on and ended up ordering a pair afterwards that will come next week. I am excited to get some kms/miles in on both pairs.
20/301km for February.

Ok - I sent a friend request but I barely use fitbit except for stats. took me a while to figure out the friend request thing too. Since they did away with the web site and it's only "app" and it's all sort of connected to google I don't mess with it much.2 -

@Teresa502 I overpronate, so I always have to get help from experts - at least initially
when I buy my shoes so I buy a model that will keep my feet in check. With the amount of shoes I’ve been going through I do buy follow up pairs online. I don’t normally need stability shoes, but something close to that. The Hokas are Arahi 7 . I’ll test them tomorrow

I thought I’d try my usual loop this morning. It’s very hilly but it is the start (and end) of the half marathon course I’m doing on Sunday so I needed to get my head around Heartbreak Hill again.
The loop is just under 8k so I thought I’d add a little bit to get the full eight, and then I added a little bit more to get a particular segment, and then I added a little bit more to make it up to 8.5k, and then I added it a little bit more to take it up to one hour exactly.
So, in other words, I was feeling quite good out there, albeit slow. But slow is good right now. Baby steps.5 -

Feb total 23.7/100 miles
YTD: 140.6 miles
2/1: 6.5 miles
2/2: 14 miles
2/4: 3.2 miles
Big news! My watch is working again! There were no Garmin folks at the race this weekend so I threw it in my bag and left it there. When I got home I took it out to charge and tried one last time to reboot it. Lo and behold , it actually rebooted! When I synced it to the app it took a while so I was hopeful I was getting the patch file. I used it for my run this morning and it worked great. Whew! I was not looking forward to having to send it off.
This morning was a recovery run. No aches or niggles. My legs aren't even all that tired. I guess doing walk-run saved me from some of the fatigue even though we were on our feet A LOT. I have a massage scheduled in a couple days. Hopefully that will help with recovery and I'll basically be back to normal next week.6 -
I hope you feel better soon @WarmJellyfish . I would think breathing hard in those temps would hurt an already sore throat. Are you taking anything for it?
Nice treadmill run this morning @Teresa502 . Glad you were able to catch the critter and get it back outside where it belongs. Was it a mole or a mouse?
Thanks @Laurz9191 . I'm pretty sore today. I hope it isn't worse tomorrow. I say, when you take a rest day, what else are you going to do with that time you were going to run but shop for running shoes?Great shoe porn and look forward to more when you get the Brooks. BTW, I overpronate too. I'll be interested to see how the Hoka's work for you. Brooks Adrenaline are my go to shoe.
Doing great @Mari33a . I think you missed a decimal point in your post though.
You are doing great @John772016 .
Sounds like a great run @ContraryMaryMary .
@martaindale Great recovery run and I'm glad your Garmin is working again. Not being so fatigued is one of the pros to doing the run/walk (Galloway) method. Enjoy your massage.5 -

Today was interesting. I tried to use my time wisely, but really hate waiting for people to show up when you just know a general time frame that they will be here. The heating people came about 11 and I ordered a new heat pump system. I should get it next week.
I called to see when the appliance repair guy would be here and they said he'd call me around 2. So, I got ready to go out and get my run in before he got here. You know how the best laid plans go..... Before I got out the door, I got a phone call from my neighbor and wound up talking over 30 mins. I still went out, having enough time to get the run in. After about half a mile, I got another phone call I needed to take, so stopped and talked to them. While on the phone, the repairman called on my other phone and said he would be here in about 45 min. So, after I got finished with the first call, I went out and finished getting in one mile in case I didn't want to go out again after the repairman left. (Wun 0.8 miles and walked 0.2 miles.)
Appliance updates under the spoiler. This repairman was soooo much better than the one that came last week. He took the front off of the washer and looked and said it looks great for 27 years old. No oil. Really clean. Nothing he could see that was wrong. He ran it through a couple of empty cycles and no issues. He thinks that it is possible that something got clogged and it boke loose and is okay. He did suggest giving it a "deep" clean - using 2 tablespoons of citric acid and run it through a large hot cycle. I don't have citric acid, but will get some and take care of that. I have done 3 loads of laundry today and only the first one had a little bit of soap left on them and had to be rinsed again. So, fingers crossed my washer is hanging on and doesn't have to be replaced.
He looked at the microwave and everything he could check without taking it out of the wall looks good. He did say he will have to come back with someone else to take it out and check everything. He said they don't have a lot of luck fixing these built in units, but will see what they can do. This is a family owned business and he said his mom had to go to the hospital this morning because she was having issue with her pacemaker - at least they think it is the pacemaker and not her heart. His dad was with her, so they will be short handed until she gets out of the hospital. I told him not to worry. I can live without a microwave for a while.
After the repairman left, I needed to lock my gate, so that was great motivation to get out and do a little more. I really thought I would only walk a mile, but I tried running and, after getting down the first hill, it felt pretty good, so went ahead and did a wun (walking up the hills and running most of the rest). I wun another 1.80 miles and walked 0.30 miles home.
Interestingly, the wuns were almost exactly the same avg pace. The first one was 13:48 min/mile. The second 13:45 min/mile.
Those squats yesterday really did a job on my quads. They actually felt a little bit better today just walking around, but running down hill and stairs are tough. If she tries to get me to do squats tomorrow.....not gonna happen.
