@John772016 There was almost no wind, and, he was the only other runner I saw in the 3+ hours I was out . I’m guessing he just doesn’t like other people.
@WarmJellyfish I’m glad you are finally starting to feel better!
@ContraryMaryMary Great job with you HM! That course sounds quite difficult! I’m glad you reached your goal time and then some, especially after all of your recent training setbacks!
This morning I was planning to go out for a short 6km. I totally changed my mind as I ran and kept extending and ended up with 12.1km. I love this kind of run . It was just such nice running weather, a bit above freezing with hardly any wind. I saw quite a few other runners out and someone walking barefoot in shorts in the muddy forest with his dog. Did I mention it was only slightly above freezing?
87.1/301km for February.6 -
Wonderful job @ContraryMaryMary!! Congrats! You look great in the photo!! Very happy!
I hope your sore throat doesn’t turn into much more. Rest up.3 -
@Teresa502 thanks for the welcome back! Coaching participants of the 10K training team has been fun! I love hearing about their little successes and milestones. Though with the cold rain yesterday morning we only had a total of 9 people show up, us 4 coaches, 4 who braved the slippery slush and my husband who opted for the treadmill. I volunteered to coach the walkers, so I do my own training runs on other days. Photo of participants in spoiler (though a few weren’t there when photo was taken.)
Thanks @quilteryoyo - but 3 of those were runs. (Of course, my “runs” are most other people’s jogs, but oh well.). I only walk when I’m helping with the training team participants.
I’m just glad my ankle has been holding up and is doing really well with the new insert.7 -

Just picked at a few chips and jalapenos and guac
As an American I read this as a tortilla Corn Chip and all was well, then I realized you may be talking about French Fries smoothed in guacamole...I shuttered.
🏃🏽

@chris_in_cal haha. Lovely spot.
I translated into American! I was eating what we call here tortilla chips or nacho chips - just omitted the prefix! You are correct though - chips otherwise woulda meant fries!

Congrats on your HM @ContraryMaryMary ! I'm glad you felt better for the race. Also glad your body cooperated, even when the hills got hillier. LOL I love that. They always seem to get hillier as the day goes on. You look great! I think I have that exact same vest! I hope your throat feels better soon.
Love the breakfast conversation @tarun_yadavA . Great speedy run this morning.
You're doing great @Emilienewme ! Running and talking with a friend is a great way to not notice how far you have gone. The superset does sound like a very tough workout. I probably wouldn't have like that very much either. Glad you like Coach Amy.
Wow. Twice as far as you planned @Laurz9191 ! That's great. Humm. Not sure about the person being barefoot and in shorts though. I guess if they were comfortable, who am I to judge?
@daria0919 That's a great looking group. I'm glad your new insert is working well!
Glad PT helped @AlphaHowls . You are doing great, as always.2 -

My Sunday Rest day walk - today was after lunch and a nap.
I did have a weird thing happen though. I was almost finished with the walk when I found myself veering to the left. Since I was almost done, I finished the 1.10 miles. As soon as I did, I started pouring sweat! I mean dripping. I had to sit on the edge of the treadmill a few minutes. I just felt a little nauseous, but nothing major. Once I quit sweating, I felt better. No fever, but I am cold. I just hope I'm not getting sick. All I can think of is that I may have had a short episode of inner ear issues. My left ear has been getting stopped up lately. Who knows? I hope that doesn't happen again!7 -
Hopefully it was just, as you said, a mild inner ear episode @quilteryoyo - hope it’s over with and it’s not a sign you’re getting sick.0

February Goal: 125 miles
2/2: 13.25 miles
2/3: 4.02 miles
2/4: 6.27 miles
2/5: 6.04 miles
2/6: 7.02 miles
2/7: 4.26 miles
2/8: 11.92 miles
51.89/125 miles completed for February
It was cold again today. I got out and ran 11 uneventful miles. It was a nice enough run, I am just tired of the cold. We have some chances of rain the next couple of days. Hopefully, I will still be able to get my runs in.
@warmjellyfish I developed pinkeye last month when I was sick. I had never had that before. I hope you are feeling better soon.
Great job on your race @contrarymarymary! I hope you feel better soon.
@quilteryoyo I hope it doesn't happen again and you aren't getting sick.

I ran 1.1M 17'13
The ghost stress fracture pain lasted two days. This morning I felt fine, now after running I'm still fine. I'll run alternate days for a bit then back to normal.chris_in_cal wrote:That old devil a pain in the middle of my right tibia popped up, right where my old stress fracture was. Morning all
Got in 5.5M at 10'06
Hope you all (well, Americans) enjoyed the Superbowl last night...
Happy Monday! Back to the grind!6 -
Hi everyone!
@quilteryoyo Hope you are feeling good today and not veering off in one direction or the other!
I decided to do my speed work for the week this morning. I did 8x 800 meter repeats with 400 meters easy recovery in between. During my last marathon training cycle I did this workout and totally tanked it. It was awful. This time I decided to do it on the treadmill. It was hard, but I made all the splits I was supposed to and was very proud to know that I could actually complete it. I ran 15km. Only Garmin (no surprise) had something negative to say about it. Garmin is of the opinion that I am being “unproductive” when I am actually feeling quite the opposite at the moment .
102.1/301km for February.5 -
Thanks @daria0919 .
Thanks @kgirlhart . Nice 12 miles yesterday. We're going to have a rainy week here too.
@chris_in_cal Glad you were able to rain with no pain! Sounds like you have a great plan.
Great run @tarun_yadavA . The super bowl was so-so and, somehow, I missed the commercials the news said were the best this morning. I THOUGHT I was paying attention. I was not a fan of the half time show either.
Thanks @Laurz9191 . Great run. I think the treadmill is great for speed work. I "makes" you hit your targets. Ignore Garmin. How you feel is more important.
I have not had another episode, but am feeling a bit blah this morning. I'm currently waiting for the heat pump people to get here to install the new one. I'll see what I feel like doing after they leave...I'm thinking it will take them most of the day.4 -

Finally back at work today. Am mime-ing my way through things. I've completely lost my voice....
From sounding like a gravelly Darth Vader, now I probably have to use the force to do anything since there is no sound...
I've had 6 Zero days. Except for one day walk, I've done ZERO for any exercise, stretching, fun, sleep (yep no sleep, too much coughing, I look like a racoon).... sigh...
The cough suppressants are making the legs go weak....
I'm envious of you all pounding away...
@ContraryMaryMary congrats on the half!9 -

13.19/30 miles for February thus far.
We have a winter storm coming our way tomorrow! 5-8 inches estimate plus maybe another 1-3 inches Tuesday night into Wednesday.
Hubby got our two small generators and our two chainsaws ready!
@WarmJellyfish I’m glad you’re well enough to return to work. Sorry to hear about the coughing/sleepless nights and the laryngitis. Warm tea with honey and/or lemon maybe?
I still remember when my older sister lost her voice completely from being ill when she was in high school. Our dad gave her a shot of vodka and she drank it. Within an hour her voice returned! True story!8 -

Had a bit of a relapse and could barely get up on Sunday, good thing I had homemade chicken soup all set to go! Back on the treadmill this morning for a quick 5K.
Unfortunately my cellphone screen completely died while I was on the treadmill; just a nice little surprise for me when I finished running and tried to check messages.

Happy Monday! On Saturday, I hiked about 10 miles with a hike organized by a local park ranger. The first couple of miles were on the Appalachian Trail, then a lesser maintained trail with lots of briars and downed trees to navigate, and lastly, free forming it crawling up and down the side of a mountain through, over and under the rhododendron bushes to a waterfall. This is one that I will never willingly do again! Sunday was a travel day for me and once at my destination a visit to the spa for a mani and a pedi. My calves were really sore after Saturday’s hike, but this morning they were ok. This morning, I went for a 5 mile run. One of the security guards in our group went with me for the first 4 miles. He used to run consistently but he hasn’t run in months so there were a lot of walk breaks thrown in. It was good to have his company though. Our plan was to drop him back by the hotel at 3 miles but we got a little turned around. Temp was a lovely 66F.@tarun_yadavA – I ate at the cheesecake factory last night. Resee’s pb cheesecake for dessert. I was too full after the meal so I brought it to the resort with me. I was only going to eat a couple of bites but it was so good that I ate the whole thing!
Navigating to the waterfall
The waterfall!
The trail maintainers have been busy on the Appalachian Trail cutting the trees off the trail that fell during the Hurricane Helene damage.
The sun was setting as we arrived back at the trailhead at the end of a very long day.
One of my friends laid her boots and pants out to pressure wash before putting in the washing machine. Staying upright was impossible!
Congratulations on your half marathon @ContraryMaryMary! Especially with feeling so poorly and recovering from your calf injury. Well done!
That’s a great looking bunch of runners @daria0919!
Hope everyone feeling sick is better soon!

I went for a walk yesterday on my tired half marathon legs. They actually weren’t too bad but my calves are quite tight.
I did my usual loop which comprises the first four and final four kilometres of the course I ran on Sunday. I did go in reverse however, perhaps subconsciously I was trying to unwind some of the damage! I felt pretty good throughout but then after I sat down for a coffee, I completely seized up.
I woke up feeling pretty good today (I had a very early night thanks to my sniffle) but sitting at my desk working for a couple of hours and I’m feeling stiff again. I’m due to go to Pilates at 12 so hopefully that will help (it potentially could make things a whole lot worse but never mind 😂).7 -

Tennis ball necklace
I did not have all that this morning, but I used my medicine bag and if it 'bounced' I had to stabilize until it stopped thumping me.2 -
@chris_in_cal I thought most people liked using natural gas if it was available. Isn't it cheaper? Me, personally, I don't like it because it scares me, but I didn't grow up with it.
@WarmJellyfish Sorry you are having such a hard time. I hope you can get the cough under control and get some sleep. When I get a cough that bad, I have my doctor write a prescription for cough syrup that has codeine in it. That usually lets me sleep.
Nice @daria0919 . I hope you don't get any damage from the impending storm. My mom once had a cough she couldn't get rid of and our neighbor gave her some moonshine. It really worked...she said it was because she was too afraid to cough because she might have to take more. LOL I guess it burned. I've never had moonshine (the "real" stuff), so don't know how it tastes.
@John772016 Great job on the 5K when you weren't feeling well. Sorry about your cell phone issues too.
Sounds like a great run @Teresa502 . That hike sounds, and looks, really tough. The waterfall and sunset are really pretty! Funny that your friend pressure washed her clothes before washing them!
@ContraryMaryMary I hope all of your muscles recover quickly and palates helped instead of making it worse.

I did get my new heat pump installed today. They were here until about 2:45. I did get a couple of on-line trainings done for daycare while they worked. I'm looking forward to lower power bills and so thankful they were able to get it in quickly and before it gets cold again.
Outdoor unit.
After they left, I did a driveway walk. It was nice out, but just didn't feel like running. I am going to have to get myself in gear if I'm even going to be close to my goal this month.6 -
Looks cool @AlphaHowls . Did you need to do that to help your back? I just saw the tennis ball necklace. That's interesting. Does it change your stride length or just get you to quit bouncing so much?1

Feb total 39.1/100 miles
YTD: 156 miles
2/1: 6.5 miles
2/2: 14 miles
2/4: 3.2 miles
2/7: 4.4 miles
2/8: 6.4 miles
2/10: 4.6 miles
It was a little cooler this morning, which was nice. I went to my neighborhood trail. I did 1 of the miles at an effort that felt like a race pace. It wasn't. Still 30 secs slower than it should be. Definitely not ready for a new PR attempt. My watch is estimating my time at about what I did 2 years ago.
I signed up for several races this week towards my 50 states goal. Illinois (April), South Dakota (May), Massachusetts (Aug), Michigan (Aug), and Vermont(Sept) which will bring my count for this year to 8. That feels like a very productive year!7 -
@quilteryoyo changes length temporarily while you work to stabilize core, slight lean forward
It was just something I stumbled across on Facebook and thought, why not!3 -
