We had a big storm here too last night. 15 or 20 cm of snow. I have today and tomorrow off, but I had an appointment downtown today which was cancelled. I'm kind of annoyed about it. They rescheduled for tomorrow, but I wanted to just have it today and then have the rest of the weekend for myself. So I have to replan.
Glad things are going well at work @trooworld.
I've been doing really well with calories and my weight went down to 159, which I havent seen in a long time. Not sure it will stay there- it fluctuates, of course. But I was averaging around 162+ in Jan so that is an improvement.
Not sure what to do today, I have to replan my weekend. One thing I will do is go for a short walk by the lake, it always looks pretty in the snow.0 -
@trooworld I’m glad the commute home wasn’t as long as you thought it would be. It’ll be good to have a 4 day weekend. Hi, all. The rain finally stopped and the temperatures are a bit milder. I worked out on the bike today. Our hairdresser came to our house and we got haircuts. DS was home today and went grocery shopping with me. Dinner is pork chops, polenta and broccoli.0

Hey all I had to have unexpected surgery on Monday. All is well but extremely fatigued. My mil got put in the hospital same day. So my poor hubby has been dealing with alot. She's still there. I'm on a strength training ban for 2 weeks but I can get back on the treadmill slowly after the 17th and my follow up. So I'm trying to move around the house slowly for 5 min at a time. 15 min total and call it exercise to keep the habit. lol I basically just sit or lie down most of the day right now. I'll be back to it soon.0
-
@its_cleo Wow, be careful if you go out, that would be annoying to have an appt canceled and have to replan. Thanks. They are going well. Congrats on doing well with cals and the weight going down! That sounds nice, to go for a walk by the lake. I hope you enjoy the day.
@fabgeekmom Yes, me too. And I am really looking forward to the weekend! Good job with the bike.
@theslightedgeforever I'm sorry to hear you had to have surgery, I hope you are okay. Be kind to yourself and take the time needed to heal. And sorry about your MIL. That is a lot for your DH.
Hi all. My DH was going to take 1/2 day off work and hang out with me but he has too much to do, so the day is mine. I have an appt with the ortho doc this morning and then I might come home and clean the house. At some point, I will go to a coffee shop and read. It's supposed to rain until about midday and then the sun will come out. I lost 3.2 lbs this week.

@fabgeekmom getting a new haircut is always nice.
@theslightedgeforever oh I'm sorry to hear about the surgery and your MIL. I hope you can take some time to rest and recover.
@trooworld congrats on the loss! I've been reading a lot, too.
I got that Scythe book. It's ok, fast read and keeps my attn well enough.
Had yesterday off and cleaned. Downtown today and will go to the grocery store dt while I'm there bc the stores here dont have all the ingredients I want.
Tomorrow there's a park I love that I haven't been to since my hip injury, but I will go tomorrow and then pick up some nice bread at a bakery. I used to do this every couple weeks, but since my hip injury I haven't bc it was too far for me. But I will take transit there and walk the park a bit.0 -
@theslightedgeforever I’m sorry about the surgery and hope you recover well and the same for your MIL. @trooworld That weight loss is awesome! I hope you enjoyed your day and the appointment went well. @its_cleo Going to the grocery store and getting what you need is satisfying. The park sounds nice. I always enjoy walking in nature. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. While I was at the recreation center, I had 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts in the crockpot simmering with 2 cups of chicken broth, some bay leaves and dried parsley. When I got home I had shredded chicken for a wrap. Tonight was steak night. DS made a chocolate cake for tomorrow night and of course, we had to have a slice after dinner. This was a new recipe he tried which was very good. Next week he’s making the same recipe for our granddaughter’s birthday.0
-
@its_cleo Thank you! Scythe is a fast read. What are you making? I hope you enjoy the park.
@fabgeekmom Thank you! Good job with the swim. That was a good idea to do with the chicken. The cake sounds yummy.
Hi all. I still feel like I am getting a cold, my throat is pretty sore, so I kind of just relaxed yesterday: I went to the ortho doctor and he gave me another shot of cortisone. He said that the last shot (which didn't work for me) may not have been placed right or this one may be more effective since I've lost weight. Let me tell you, I think he was right that he placed it differently because yowsa, it hurt so much! And my knee hurt all the rest of the day. Today, it doesn't hurt. But wow did it hurt yesterday. Hopefully, it helps. I came home and took a nap and then went to a couple of bookstores and for coffee. Then came home and took another nap lol. When my DH was off, we went for coffee again.

@trooworld I remember cortisone shots being really painful. I’m glad your knee doesn’t hurt anymore. Sorry about the cold. Hi, all. It’s cold and dreary again. DH and I went to Sam’s Club today. We got mostly paper products. I had leftover steak for lunch. Tonight we are having tacos. I am eating mine on shredded lettuce so I can have tortilla chips and cake for dessert. I rode the bike after lunch.0
-
@fabgeekmom They really are. Thanks. You do such a good job of balancing foods out, that's great! Good job with the bike.
Hi all. I ran some errands in the morning and then my DH and I went to a museum about humanity. There was a cannibal exhibit, which was interesting. After that, we went to a Mediterranean restaurant. I got a chicken shawarma salad bowl. I ate about 1/4 of it and gave my husband the rest. It was really good but I didn't want to overdo it. We came home and I finished reading one of my books. It felt good to just sit and read. Today, I might break out my sewing machine to make a padded sleeve for my Kindle.

I didn't make it to the park...it just seemed like too much walking for my hip, with the other errands I had to do yesterday. I have to plan everything so I dont walk too much, it's really irritating.
I would go today but there is a big snowstorm.
@trooworld I wasn't making anything fancy, just some pork meatballs with apple, and mashed potatoes, some veggies. I dont eat pork very much, maybe once every 2 or 3 months. It was ok, turned out kind of a plain meal.....sounds like an interesting museum!
I also made a chickpea soup for lunch.
Fri I had pizza and was way over calories. Fridays are usually hard for me so if I dont plan ahead I end up just getting takeout.0 -
@trooworld I know you enjoyed eating at a restaurant. Good job on limiting the amount you ate. I think I went to that museum when I was in San Diego. I remember it was fascinating. @its_cleo That was good judgment in not walking at the park. If you overdo things, it just puts you behind when you want to do something. I have learned that! Pork meatballs sound good. I’m able to buy lower fat ground pork. Hi, all. It’s windy and rainy here. I went to the grocery store for a few things I need for tomorrow. One particular store sells ground Italian turkey sausage in a tube. I use it in place of pork sausage. Tonight we are eating at our daughter’s house. She always fixes something healthy.0
-
@its_cleo Sorry about your hip and walking. I can understand how that would be frustrating. That's too bad it was kind of a plain meal, it sounded good! It was an interesting museum. Weekends have always been my weak point.
@fabgeekmom Thank you, yes, I did! Yes, I like that museum. I always look for ground turkey sausage and it's hard to find. I hope you enjoyed dinner.
Hi all. I did some sewing yesterday, I made that case for my Kindle. It didn't come out perfectly but I thought it looked nice. I showed my DH and he said it looked nice but then proceeded to point out all the flaws. Then he said he was joking but it hurt and made me depressed. I was depressed the rest of the day/night. He should know better than to joke like that about something I worked hard on. Not funny.
Water yesterday: 40 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
@trooworld It’s obvious that your DH doesn’t understand your depression. My DH also doesn’t get some of my anxieties. Unfortunately some men are not in tune with things that bother us. I’m sorry you felt so bad. Hi, all. The weather forecasters are saying that we are supposed to get a lot of snow Wednesday and Thursday, I think 8-10 inches. I hope they are wrong. If so, we’ll be in the house for a few days. Today we went swimming and then went to the grocery store. I got a few things to last us for a few days. I got a nice piece of salmon for dinner tonight. I’m going to freeze about half of it for next week.0
-
@fabgeekmom He should: we've been together for over 25 years! And he has depression himself, but maybe he doesn't. Thank you! I hope you don't get so much snow. I'm glad you got out to go swimming before the snow hit, and to get your groceries.
Hi all. I felt better yesterday (emotionally) but I had a killer migraine. Despite this, we went out for coffee and sat in the sun drinking it which was a total mistake. I ended up going home and taking a nap and felt better when I woke up. I finished my 2nd book sleeve. It came out pretty good. I didn't show my DH this one. After that, I met my DH downtown in Little Italy. We walked around and got more coffee and went into the art supply store. My watch did not accurately track my walking yesterday which ticks me off as I track my movement! Here are some pics of the new book sleeve (Front and back. The back has a pocket with a snap).

@trooworld that is super cute! I love both of them. I think it's great if people can make things. I used to crochet blankets but I don't much anymore.
@fabgeekmom good luck with the snow! We got a lot here over the weekend, and it's pretty cold today. The sun is out though, so that's nice. I don't mind the cold if it means we get some sun.
I didn't do great with calories on the weekend, but it's ok. Back on track today.0 -
Hi all, I haven't been able to get on my computer much. I have had 2 sick kids but they are on the other side of this stuff now I think. I just have to watch the little one when he gets a cough as he usually ends up with croup and breathing issues. This time just a horrible cough that makes him throw up...oh how fun.
I just keep gaining weight. I have not been this heavy in about 12 years. So I am fighting depression a bit and then the emotional eating comes into play...working on breaking the cycle.
@trooworld So sorry your DH made his comments. Your covers are absolutely adorable. Of course you would pick an animal pattern LOL. They are really cute. I am sure it will make reading your kindle more fun and you will look fabulous in your coffee shop while reading..
@fabgeekmom I am so glad you have a daughter who cooks healthy, it sounds to me like you taught your family good health is important! It's been cold here but then hot, which is why the kids get sick.. LOL
@its_cleo Sorry about your hip, but you are continuing to try and that will keep you reaching your goals.
Cbabie0 -
@trooworld The book sleeve looks really good. You are talented. Don’t consider what your DH said to you. @its_cleo Good job on being back on track. I agree that the sun being out makes the cold more tolerable. @cbabie I’m sorry you are having a hard time. I hope the kids are on the mend. Hi, all. I worked out on the bike today. The recreation center is closed tomorrow in preparation for the bad weather. DS is making Milkstreet recipe for chicken legs and boiling some red potatoes. I’m making instant pot kale. DS went grocery shopping and bought junk food for the bad weather duration. I can’t be trusted in that department because my main concern is having healthy meals for the next few days.0
-
@its_cleo Thank you! It's the same one, just front and back.
My mom used to crochet. I admire people that can do it, it takes a lot of patience! Good for you for getting back on track.
@cbabie Oh your poor kids! I know some bad stuff is going around. My husband had it for a week or two and now, I'm starting to get it. I'm sorry about the gaining weight. Thank you. Of course, I would! LOL
@fabgeekmom Thank you! Good job with the bike. I hope the storm isn't too bad.
Hi all. I should clarify that those pictures were of the SAME book sleeve, one image was the front and one image was the back. I didn't take a pic of the first one (although that one is perfectly lovely as well). I've definitely got some sort of a cold. I've been blowing my nose constantly and occasionally coughing. I don't feel too horrible, hopefully I don't get to that point. It's just hard to sleep. I will go to work today. I don't know if I will stay all day or just leave early and work from home.

Morning all, I think we are rounding the corner with the sickness. YEAH!! I did my PT exercises yesterday and took baby boy for a walk....now today I want to ride my bike. My computer is so slow, I almost fall asleep waiting on the tab to open..UGH!!!
@fabgeekmom sorry to hear about the bad weather...we are in the 70s, I hope it's not going to be like last year and no winter or spring...LOL. I had to laugh that your DS had to go buy junk food for the storm..how thoughtful is he. LOL
@trooworld So sorry to hear you are not feeling well. It's nothing to mess with.it's the cough that really is the worst. I still gave the kids zarbee's cough med, but also Honey..(per the Dr).
cbabie0 -
@trooworld I hope you get over your cold soon. @cbabie I’m glad the children are getting better. 70 degrees sounds heavenly! Hi, all. It’s been snowing since 1PM today and it’s covering the road and yard. I’m sitting near a window and watching it snow. I rode the bike today. I’m so glad I bought it during Covid! Dinner is leftover tacos from Saturday.1
-
@cbabie Oh that's good news! Good job with the activity. Thank you. I haven't been coughing too much and I hope that's not coming.
@fabgeekmom Thank you! It must be pretty to sit near the window and watch it snow. Stay safe! Good job with the bike.
HI all. I'm doing okay but I had a coughing fit at work yesterday that, I'm not kidding, lasted about 7 minutes. One of my coworkers came into my office from hers to see if she needed to do the Heimlich on me lol. It was that bad. I tried drinking water and that didn't stop it, it was like a tickle in my throat. Finally, I sucked on a cough drop and that helped.
Water yesterday: 30.5 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
Morning all, I didn't ride yesterday like I wanted to, but was active in other ways. I am listening to a person from Bodi and she is talking about mindset. If you don't have the right mindset, you will just go back to your old habits. That is what I am trying to change. Somedays I say do I really want to live another 20 years in this world and the answer is no, but most days yes I want to live another 20 but a healthy 20, not in a hospital or old folks home 20....
@trooworld so sorry about your cough. That's what the kids had, it's awful. I finally broke down and bought cough drops too..but can't give those to the baby. He just throws up..which he did last night about 12:30 am.. I hope you feel better today.
@fabgeekmom I agree with troworld...oh to be able to sit in a window and watch it snow...but that's all I want to do with snow. LOL. I am glad you bought your bike too...covid really was good for some things.. mostly our mindsets..
cbabie0 -
@trooworld Sorry about that cough! When DH had a cold, he stocked up on cough drops. @cbabie Yes, mindset is everything! And it’s hard to be mindful when you have sick kids. Hi, all. We got at least 10 inches of snow. It snowed all day and through the night, also some in the afternoon. I’m looking out the window and it’s really pretty. DS is home and is staying home tomorrow also. I’m glad so I don’t have to worry about him. My road is not cleared and won’t be until there is enough traffic on it. I rode the bike as usual. Dinner is Skinnytaste spaghetti rings with beef except I’m using small macaroni as that’s what I have.0
-
@cbabie That's good you were active even if you didn't get to ride the bike. All movement counts! Mindset is really important. I'm right there with you, I don't want to live in pain or discomfort. Thanks, that's too bad you can't give cough drops to the baby. But honey works really well too, right? I do feel better.
@fabgeekmom Thanks! 10 inches of snow, wow! I'm glad everyone is staying home. I've been meaning to make that Skinnytaste recipe. I will, someday!
Hi all. I felt slightly better yesterday and didn't take Claritin last night and was okay, so that's progress, right? LOL I lost another 3 lbs this week and am down into a new decade: 219.6 lbs. I'm very happy about that. I've lost a total of 37.4 lbs in 64 days. In a lot of ways, it hasn't been easy but I'm very happy I had my surgery. I made falafel in the air fryer the other day with cucumber sauce and I had that for dinner last night, it was very good. Today, I work from home.
Water yesterday: 48.2 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."1 -
@trooworld That’s good that you’re feeling better. Fantastic weight loss! I love falafel. Cucumber sauce sounds good. Hi, all. The sun is out today and temperatures are a little bit above freezing. There is some melting and the roads are better. DS decided to go to work because of that. I spend my days inside and I’m getting cabin fever. But the area near our vehicles is still frozen. So I’ll stay home again tomorrow. Tonight is steak night.0
-
@fabgeekmom Yes, I think so. Thank you! I do, too and it was really good in the air fryer. I don't blame you for getting cabin fever. I would, too!
Hi all. I took one of my dogs on two longer walks than normal yesterday. I was sort of testing out my knee. My husband and I are going to go walking on a nature trail today so hopefully, my knee will be fine. It was ok on the walk with Violet. For dinner, I made a Sriracha-Spiced Shrimp and Broccoli Sheet Pan Meal. It wasn't spicy at all, I don't know if it was the Sriracha sauce I used (which wasn't our usual brand) or if it was just the amount I used (1 1/2 tsp). Anyway, it was still good.
Water yesterday: 36.3 oz
My phrase for the year: "A new era of me."0 -
@fabgeekmom I get cabin fever too, I hate it. I always try to be optimistic that March will be spring.
@cbabie I think mindset is key. I ask myself that a lot too, about living in the world. I hope the kids are recovering ok. Any activity you can do is good, all we can do is our best.
@trooworld sounds like a nice walk. I've had coughing spells like that when I had a cold. Once I was sick on vacation and I could not stop coughing. People would move away from me. It was awful lol.
It's been a busy week, so I couldn't check in much. I have a lot of work right now, and when I work a lot I can't look at my computer in my spare time- just cant sit at a desk any longer than I have to. The next 2 weeks will be busy, too.
And kind of off the rails this week with calories - yesterday being Friday got me again, so I had takeout for dinner. And Thursday I was stressed and bought a cheesecake lol. I didnt eat it all at once, but still the piece was big lol.
Oh well it's a new day today!0 -
Morning all, It's still warm here and I cleaned our outdoor table off and asked DH to put up the umbrella so I could sit outside and enjoy. I didn't get to do that, but I plan on it today! I for some reason ate a little Debbie snack and it made me feel bad, but not bad enough that I didn't eat it. So today is different. I have been slowing getting rid of bad food and adding good food. Trying to be like a chameleon change slowing into what I want to be. LOL
@its_cleo Yum cheesecake. My grand daughter came in and asked if I had any peanut butter cups I said no, can't have them I would eat them all. LOL. Sorry about the work, but you got this.
@fabgeekmom Sometimes I think I wish we could be snowed in. I get tired of all the running around I do. Yet the minute you tell me I can't do something, is the minute I want to do it. LOL
@trooworld Congratulations!! I am so glad you are happy with the surgery! That makes your mindset so much better and you just eat different cause you are happy! Sometimes I wish I were like a man and have no emotions...but I am not. LOL
