Thanks @SummerSkier ! You are really piling up the mileage so far this year.
@Teresa502 I'm glad that you didn't have any damages from the flooding. Now for the snow! Low energy seems to be a theme right about now. Weather? Body fighting germs trying to make us sick? Change in temps for you? I hope you feel better today.
Nice job with the weight training and run @Laurz9191 . I'm surprised at how much I like weight training.
Glad you were able to get in a run @ContraryMaryMary . Sounds like you are recovering well.
@brnlow What part of FL are you in? I usually go down a couple of times a year to visit with my family - they are all in Palm Bay. I have also been running the T-Minus 10 mile race in Dec on Cape Canaveral. Not sure if I am going to this year or not.
So funny about the Garmin comments @martaindale and @Laurz9191 . Mine is telling me I am maintaining.
Sorry about your foot @tarun_yadavA . I hope the doctor can give you and answer.
Great interval workout on the treadmill this morning @Laurz9191 . Garmin never gets my pace right on the treadmill either. I'm sure it would if I had a foot pod, but I'm not that interested. I just use the distance and time on the treadmill and calories on my watch.

Got out again this morning for another windy run. We are in for another storm at the weekend but it seems like everyone is getting terrible weather. This is when I wish I had a treadmill.6 -
Very sorry to hear your foot is still giving you trouble @tarun_yadavA. Hopefully your appointment Thursday will offer a solution. Maybe time for a new insole?
Curious question to those of you with a Garmin watch:
Where/how does your Garmin give you feedback about your productivity? Does your watch do it, or is the info on the connect app?
I may have a Garmin that’s too old/simple to do that. Or maybe I need to adjust some settings.3 -
Curious question to those of you with a Garmin watch:

It's a widget that you can scroll through but it also shows up as a part of the data after you finish a run. I'm assuming it's on the app, but I don't really use the app much. My old watch didn't do it so it's certainly possible yours just doesn't have that feature if you're using an older watch.2 -

I found a loop from my hotel for my run this morning. I usually use the bike-hike trail, but that's probably not a great idea in the dark. It's lower than street level, not particularly lit, and the homeless tend to sleep under the bridges. Even though I used to live in this area, I really didn't exercise on the streets so it was a new adventure.
A storm is coming in this afternoon so I settled for what I could do in the morning rather than deal with the hotel gym later in the day. It was fun to get out and explore in a way I don't usually. It felt 100% safe so will do it again.8 -
In any case, I don’t “need” its approval. Good thing too, because I don’t often get it.@tarun_yadavA I’m really sorry to hear that your foot is hurting you!!! I hope it is a very temporary issue!!!

I find it is an increasing issue that we let tech vs our own knowledge guide our actions. My fitbit got a new thing similar to garmin earlier this year. What it failed to realize was that I had upped my mileage significantly before it started calculations so it was nagging me when in fact I was pushing myself already. Similar to what @martaindale insightfully commented. And I find the same problem with many of the apple watch algorhythms. they simply cannot take into account personalized data even tho on the surface they appear to.
I think we need to rebel against the machines~!😳
Anyway after a really long weekend of pushing it, today was legs of brick. Tennis yesterday was probably the final straw. LOL. So an easier 4 mile run and we shall see if there is ice tomorrow or not as the arctic blast is supposed to descend in a few hours into central Tx. I have a day off but it is very strange weather out sort of 100% humidity dangly in the air but not quite fog.
@tarun_yadavA I am sure the doc will get you sorted. Maybe those inserts are worn or your feel have changed.
@mari333a I hear you on the wind. It was so strong here a few days ago I was almost running in place against it!6 -

Curious question to those of you with a Garmin watch:

Very consistent @Mari33a ! I love my treadmill when the weather is yucky.
@daria0919 When I scroll through the items on my watch, it has a training status. It's also on the Garmin Connect app under Performance stats.
@martaindale Glad you found a safe route to run today.
@chris_in_cal I hope you keep improving and can run again soon.
@SummerSkier Great job on the brick legs 4 miler today. Stay safe in the storm. It's supposed to hit here tonight/early morning. Your comment about rebelling against machines made me think of "I Robot." I just saw that movie again the other day.

Training plan said to do 2 easy miles today. I spent 3 hours on the road, down and up, to visit my sister and her grandkids. Spent all day there and wasn’t feeling it when I left, so opted for the treadmill instead of an outside run.
Still on pace for my 30 mile month, so that makes me happy, especially after being mostly side lined for the previous 5 months.
18.56/30 miles for February thus far.
@quilteryoyo we did have some localized flooding. Our creek and lake swelled severely. Fortunately our house is raised uphill from the creek. It looked like a muddy raging river. Part of the problem was that our spillway which has a grate was blocked in the lake. Neighbors went to check out why the lake was swelling in excess and it turns out the spillway was blocked by a huge dead beaver! Photo in spoiler.Note man’s foot top left completed to beaver’s size!
Also, the James River is causing major flooding issues and one of our local parks nearby in my county had to be shut down because it’s totally flooded over.7 -

42.60/80 miles goal
Posting two runs today. Yesterday, I did the opposite of my normal time miscalculations and instead of thinking I needed to leave at a certain time, when I actually needed to be there at that time, I thought I needed to be at the gym at 9, when that was actually when I needed to leave home to be at the gym in time for my personal training session. So......I used that extra thirty minutes to get in 2.1 miles total on the treadmill. I didn't want to use too much of my energy, so the running part was 2/1 min at 4.5/4.0 mph. Avg pace was 13:47 min/mile. Avg HR was 109 with a max of 131 bpm.
The PT session was upper body...doing ball slams, pull downs, TRX, sitting row, bicep curls, and wave with the battle ropes.
Afterwards, I worked 6 hours, had dinner out, and then attended the funeral for a neighbor. I didn't get home until after 8 and didn't have the energy, or time, for computer stuff. Glad I had gotten my run in earlier.
Today, I got up early enough to get a run in before heading out to work. The run today was 4.5-5.2/4.0 mph for 3/1 min, then finished up at 6.0 mph. Avg pace was 12:48 min/mile. Avg HR was 123 with a max of 157 bpm. The first mile was a bit rough. Glad I hung on and did more as it felt pretty good by the time I had to quit.

99.04/125 miles completed for February
Posting two runs yet again. I got out yesterday for 6 miles. It was chilly at 27°F feels like 22°F. I felt pretty good though and it was a nice run. Today was nicer. It was 46°F feels like 44°F. I ran 6.25 miles and it was another good run. I ran at the warmest part of the day, and it is now 17°F feels like 3°F. It is supposed to be 12°F feels like -5°F tomorrow morning and 13°F feels like 2°F on Thursday. I don't think we are supposed to have any precipitation, but I may not run the next two days. I don't really have the right winter gear for those temperatures. I definitely won't run if it is icy.
@daria0919 My garmin is older (FR 45S) and it doesn't tell me if I am productive or not. I'm kind of glad. I have enough stress in my life. I don't need that kind of negativity. 😊7 -
You're doing great @daria0919 . That is one huge beaver! I'm glad that you didn't get any damage from the floods.
Great running @kgirlhart !3 -

After checking the forecast last night between 8 - 10 am seemed the best time to get my run in. So out I went and yea not to bad but the run was awful. My nose dripped constantly, I had pins and needles in my fingers in both hands and really heavy legs. I think I caused this because I've restricted my calories too much. I gained 4/5 lbs before Christmas and have been trying since then to lose them again but getting nowhere. It's really difficult to get the balance right.
Stay warm and dry everyone!6 -

I decided to brave the cold and go out for a run in the snow this morning. Turns out it wasn't that cold - 35F (1.7C). No wind helped and I was actually really sweaty when I finished. I thought the driveway would have a bit more snow on it than it did, so hadn't planned on being able to run enough to call it a run, but that, too, wasn't too bad. Only covered in a couple of spots. So, I got in 2.75 miles at an avg pace of 13:14 min/mile. Avg HR was 129 with a max of 154 bpm.
Me braving the snow and cold.

Hi everyone!
Today was another shorter run for me 6.1km. I met my friend again at the gym and we did weight lifting stuff together. It was quite nice and I am feeling stronger (and more sore) already.
Tomorrow is hopefully my long run. I am thinking warm thoughts because it has been a very cold week and tomorrow is supposedly going to be cold as well, but I am hoping to get the run in nonetheless and NOT on the treadmill.
@daria0919 That is a big beaver 🦫!
@tarun_yadavA You had to go there. Good luck with the appointment tomorrow.
@quilteryoyo Nice winter snow running!

@WarmJellyfishThe cure for the common upper respiratory infection is to look at the calendar, note the date two weeks out from when you first noticed the symptoms, then increase your rest and wait.

Sorry I haven't looked at the group for a while, work has been busy. So many messages to catch up on!
Garmin has been a bit judgemental with me, due to stress at work and poor sleep my watch is telling me to rest but the training plan is still the same and just full of longer runs. I tried my best, skipped a couple of run, or had to slow down when I was meant to run faster. Anyway even with a strained training status (apparently I am even past unproductive at the moment) and a couple of walking breaks I still ran my fastest 10k today (my husband had to push me out of the door but I am glad I went) I can't wait to be back to productive

@Teresa502, @quilteryoyo - I live near Tampa FL but try to get down to West Palm Beach every month or so to take my son scuba diving. Hope you enjoy your stays in FL. I am headed north into the snow this weekend - Tidewater VA to see my brothers. Hoping they will have the highways plowed before I get there - fingers crossed.6 -
I hope you like your new program @yirara . Glad you are back to running.
Thanks @Laurz9191 . Nice workout. Glad you are enjoying the strength training. I hope you are able to run outside tomorrow.
Thanks @John772016 . Tippy doesn't really run with me. She is more of a sprinter than a long distance dog. She loves to show me up by speeding by me when I'm running, but then she lays down and rests.
Congrats on your 10K PR @Emilienewme ! That's awesome. Glad your husband pushed you out the door.
