    JFT, Wednesday, April 22

    • Up at 5am ❌
    • Devotions/Bible Study ✔️ Yes, but on the bus. At home is much better. I don't like bus devotions.

    • Stay calm/stress free at work ✔️
    • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate ❌

    • Remember it's Wednesday to eat before church ✔️
    • Church ✔️
    • Work on Taking Time to Change ✔️
    • In bed by 10pm ❌ I got watching YouTube. I didn't need to do that. Then I got doomsday scrolling Facebook

I was in bed by 10:30pm, but got up as it was nagging me that I hadn't washed my dishes or pre-packed my lunch or finished my food diary for the day. So since I couldn't sleep and am not the least bit tired, I got up and did all that, and am posting on here. Now I am going back to bed (after 11pm now) and trying to fall asleep.

@angf0679 - Happy Admin Day to you too!

@happydonkey75 - glad your knee isn’t injured. I find the older I get the more weird things happen with my body too. Our life span is increasing, too bad they couldn’t figure out a way to slow the deterioration too.

Walked again today, a little longer, a little slower, I’m trying to work up slowly so I don’t get anything aching and hurting because then I just give up and once I’ve done that it takes me forever to get back at it to try again.

Not a bad day yesterday. We stayed a little after trivia to wait on a buddy's son to pick him up so I had an unplanned beverage, but I ate a little less than planned so I still worked out to be under for the day.

Actually losing a little faster than anticipated. March 20 I was 205.5, so I've lost 13 pounds in a month or a little over 3 pounds a week. Hoping this is because of a large water weight loss initially, but I'll watch it for another couple of weeks. This is not a bad thing, but it means I may be being too aggressive with my diet. We eat out a lot, so I don't really weigh my food. I'm pretty good at metric estimation (I actually got a trophy for at a High School Science competition). If anything I tend to overestimate the calories in foods rather than underestimate them. Not terrible, but it can lead to restricting more than planned. That can lead to an unsustainable lifestyle. I'll work on that.

Today is Kids to Work Day here at the chemical plant. It's a fun day, but also a little stressful as there are a lot of children 2nd to 6th grade. Each grade tours the plant and has a workshop on energy (hydro, wind, solar) or a class about future opportunities. I'm on a team that performs a science show/exhibition at the closing of the day. It's a really fun time, and I get to blow things up and create fire balls. How can that be bad? One year my partner did slightly catch his hair on fire. Oops! I put it out quickly by patting his head with my hand. Luckily site safety didn't really notice or we would NOT be doing this show again.

Plan today is to go for a bike ride after work. It's been a while so I'm not going to put any pressure on myself by turning on the metrics function on my watch. I may set it as an indoor ride so that it calculates calories, but not distance or speed. Truthfully, where I'm riding I know the roads well and could calc speed if I wanted to because I know the distance. I'm going to try to turn that function off in my brain, because I will be slow and it will be a hit to my pride if I let it. Maybe I will ride out to see the trillium and blue bells. That may be a little far for me, but that just means the ride back to the car will be slower.

    Anyway…

Hi my JFTers! I had a bit of unplanned Easter hiatus from MFP. Just as well, I wouldn't know how to log my eating the past few days. Easter was wonderful with choir singing at two services, then my family coming to town for dinner and games (minus 2 youngest brothers who were with their in-laws instead). We had a great time! Doggo loved all the company and was so exhausted at night, she slept right through the thunderstorm, so that was a blessing. Even Kitty came downstairs from her hiding place… normally she's terrified of all the strangers. Hubby thinks she was looking for her food, because she was confused that her bowls had been moved. Sister's 2 little shitzus (sp?) were all over the place as well, and one tried eating the cat food, which is prescription.

I gave away most of the Easter candy to family when they left, but still have stuff in the house, and I'm not being very good about limiting that. Plus since Easter, hubby and I ate at a Mexican restaurant (I'm really not in the mood to cook after all the cleaning, baking & cooking for Easter) and yesterday I had lunch with a dear friend & former colleague who recently moved back to the area. Learned part of the reason she moved was for better healthcare, as she was being treated for breast cancer, now in remission. She also recently retired, so we plan to do more stuff together.

    Back to my JFT goals…

JFT 4/24 R ~ NFL Draft officially starts today in Green Bay! Very exciting, but I think I'll be avoiding the stadium district LOL.

    • Supper? / limit snacks & sweets / 80 oz. water / log all food / net calories zero
    • OT exercises 3-5x / walk dog
    • Nephew arrives 2-3 to attend draft & stay at our house / stay up until he returns tonight? (it may be after midnight with all events & his networking for business) at least hubby will still be awake
    • Wash bedding & remake guest bed / dust bookshelf & MIL's knick knacks still in guest room (sigh) / wash flannel sheets & put away for season / wash dishes / text TH re her bday next week / read / digital declutter / other?

WOTY 2025:  Judicious ~ I just like the way the word sounds, and the meaning is right for me: having or showing reason and good judgement in making decisions. I can apply this word in so many ways!

Just catching up, as I missed yesterday. Busy group!

I had a stress test this morning so was gone most of the morning and have been a slug on the couch this afternoon. I couldn’t drink coffee or have any caffeine yesterday or this morning until after the test, and if I ever wondered if I was addicted to my morning coffee…well, I now have my answer. I’ve gotten nothing done all freakin’ day.

NFL Draft started today at Lambeau Field with activities starting at noon, and we live about a mile from there, so it’s been busier than normal in our neighborhood. There’s planes flying with banners overhead, helicopters patrolling the skies, bands playing (which we can hear quite well), groups of people walking to Lambeau (many are all decked out in Packers gear) past our house (most carrying a can of some sort of beverage in their hand), and a few cars starting to park on the streets. I’d kind of like to go check it out, but it’s such a huge crowd, and I know it’d probably be too peoply for me….but it lasts 3 days, so the jury is still out…

I’ll hop on tomorrow with goals. Just wanted to check in!

@Snowflake1968 Good for you getting out there and starting out slow with walking! I’m proud of you. I am trying to do the same…I walked outside between 15 and 20 minutes the past few days, thinking I would do it twice a day until I build up going further, but today I feel wiped out so I’m really going to have to push myself to get out there for Day 3….

Have a good day JFTers! 😊

Well, the bike ride didn't happen. Tim's mom went to the ER yesterday afternoon with chest pains, so I didn't want to leave town in case something happened. Luckily she is ok, just a smidge of pneumonia. Unfortunately, since I was planning on going back out after I changed clothes, I had left my windows in the Acadia down. Of course it stormed last night. OOPS! Luckily it wasn't too bad this morning. Been kind of down lately. I think it is just the realization of how far I've let my health slide in the past couple of years. I'm finally buckling down and working on it. Seeing pictures of myself yesterday certainly didn't help. I was light on calories yesterday so I logged a treat of buttered popcorn, but I didn't eat it. Weight dropped again today. Yay, but still dropping too fast. It worries me that it won't be sustainable, but at the same time I really like it. Oh well, I'm sure I'll settle into a healthy rhythm.

I think hubby wants to go to the bar tonight and watch hockey. I think I may stay home. I'd rather not drink and the easiest way to do that is not to go out. I don't drink at home often. I have 2 days in my week where I allow alcohol. That is Tuesday and Wednesday. I've been able to keep it reasonable most weeks and it isn't impeding my loss. I do think it was a big reason for my gain. That and the bar food that accompanied it.

I like the smaller slices of hearty whole grain bread I found. They are half the size of what I used to use, and half the calories. From 140/slice to 70/slice. There are definitely lower calorie breads, but I prefer whole mixed grain breads. These work well for a turkey sammy, and leave me satisfied. The PB&J is not cutting it today. 1T of peanut butter and 1 T of jam on 2 small slices of bread do not a sandwich make… Actually, it tasted good, but an hour later I'm hungry. Boredom does not help, but I am legit hungry. I can have a snack around 2:00pm, but I'm white knuckling it until then!

Friday was a slow day at work. Left early and tried to get a nap, but the puppy was rambunctious. Tim worked late so we went out to dinner. Bartender know & handed me a beer before I could say no. No biggie I only had 1 and I had the calories for it. Went home and went to bed.

Dogs at 4:30 this morning. I tried to go back to sleep but every time I got close they’d wake me back up. Was a little late for spin today, but I made it. Definitely struggled. Definitely should have eaten a little something before class. Oh well, I lived.

Went to mom’s. Did some grocery shopping for her, then headed home. I got there and mom called to say she messed up her refrigerator. I drive the 20 minutes back and fixed it. Then I decided to get a manicure & pedicure. Now I’m chilling in the chair soaking my feet.

    Hi everyone.

Ash's mum passed away on 22nd April, it's been hard but we're doing okay.

The kids seem to be okay about it, think it's their age though, it's just a little unnerving at how unbothered they seem but I know it's just because they don't understand in a way that adults do.

That being said I'm still miserable as hell about my weight. I'm at my highest weight again and just feel really uncomfortable in my body.

I feel like I lack some key understanding on how to actually achieve goals because I just seem to give up and half the time I don't even realise. It's just so mindless and it's really annoying.

I don't know if I need kindness, an encouraging kick up the butt or just downright harsh truths!

So I'm trying again today, atleast for the day.

Bex953172- I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Give yourself some grace during this difficult time. Grief is a complex thing.

Getting healthy and feeling better is hard work. It takes discipline more than motivation in my opinion. I can only speak for myself but maybe it will help you.

My mental switch was realizing ( I am much older than you) that I didn't want to end up in a constant state of dealing with physical issues. (like my mom) I want to enter the second half of my life feeling strong and capable ,like I was the first 35 years . I had about a 10 year period where I stayed active but didn't really committ to a consistent routine and as such that is when I started seeing physical changes I didn't like.

Focusing on longevity and not wanting to be limited by my physical state is what keeps me going .

You have to find meaning and purpose for you. If you feel like crap, and don't want to stay in that state, then you have to change something . Whatever that might be. I also had to start thinking about putting my health as a priority. I often choose not to join certain friend and family get togethers because the pressure to eat things I shouldn't is far too much. I know I don't have the will power so I make different choices and choose to avoid the temptation . Its just easier. I also gave up alchohol. I will allow myself one drink on a weekend night but honestly I don't miss it. Those are just some examples.

I don't know if any of that helps but I hope you can find a way through to your best self. Its a journey!

Of course! They were sooo good! though it was more near the end then halfway!

I am praying for you and your family. My mom died 3 years ago and my dad died just over a year ago. I know how hard it is.
