I haven't posted for a couple of days due to being extremely busy and needing a little bit of sleep. 🤣 Saying that to let you know that I have liked and hugged as appropriate. Hopefully, today will be a bit better, timewise. I am going to the gym this morning and then mom and I are getting haircuts and I may help her finish planting the garden before the storms hit tonight. I'll have to wait and see how much time I have for wunning today.
Hahahaha about your friend request @tarun_yadavA . They profiles I get from Mr. Jones is usually an old f**t.
Good luck with your interview on Tuesday @kgirlhart . It would be great to be able to work that close to home. I hope your tests results are great.
Happy Birthday to your son @Laurz9191 .
Glad you are almost back to normal @chris_in_cal .
Glad you are feeling better too @John772016 .
I'm not there yet @tarun_yadavA . Maybe that's why I'm still single. LOL Interesting article. I did think it was funny that it said that pace would prevent the sweaty shirt look. My walk yesterday had the sweaty shirt look, so, at least for me, that wouldn't be accurate. 😮
You are all doing GREAT!

This weekend I'm going to the beach to run…look out for my 12:01!

Here's mine from this morning. She seems nice. I wonder if she run?

I'm heading to SD tomorrow for the Skedaddle HM. Temps here have quickly shot up to the mid 90's and low-mid 70's in the morning. In SD, it will be upper 30's at race start with a high around 60!! It's also way less humid there, which changes the way that temp feels. It will probably be a bit of a shock to the system and I'm having a hard time deciding what to pack. I'll probably end up with options and a morning of decision.
Drove out to the lake trail in my neighborhood today and did 2 loops. It was almost 80 at sunrise so pretty brutal temps but I took it slow and it was ok. I feel like the heat has been less of an issue this year and I didn't tolerate the cold as well this winter. I'd rather have this version than the version where I'm melting in the heat.
I've been really enjoying trails lately and am looking for some 25k races to use towards my 50 states.

@kgirlhart good luck on the interview!
@tarun_yadavA lol that pace I'd be straggling…there goes all hope….
@Laurz9191 nice on the new job, happy birthday to your son!
@John772016 lol about the knee...
@quilteryoyo sleep is overrated ya know… j/k glad you ot some rest in
@chris_in_cal love beach runs! Now if my bod would only look as good as some there… lol
@martaindale after 80s, 60's will be a breeze. Good luck on the race!
About MFP logins, i got so frustrated i left a 1 star comment on google store. The developer actually responded! But in a usual refer to this forum way. I think they are trying to get people to sign up for MFP+ but when the main app is so buggy why?
Yesterday's trail run saw wild flowers! Finally!
6 -
Thanks @Scott6255; looks like a new update fixed my app login issue, but replaced it something new - completely removing the ability to add a manual exercise!
That was an entertaining article @tarun_yadavA & I'm going to assume I'm currently single because I run way too fast or maybe just fast enough? (depending on my mood😂). Enjoy the night out with the boys!Hope you get some sleep tonight @quilteryoyo!
Good luck on the HM @martaindale!
Nice wildflowers @WarmJellyfish, glad spring is showing up for you!

I didn't get out for a run until early this afternoon though, and there was nothing but sun & a temp pushing 27⁰C.
The hottest day of the year so far & very humid (Apparently, it's feeling like 30⁰C now)
A warm breeze was nice though, but I changed up my planned run to follow the shade, and after 8K of running, I threw in some walks on the next 5K as I really wasn't quite ready for that heat.
Lost about 5lbs in sweat…. definitely not a 'dating run'.5 -

I ran 7 miles this morning. I saw a skunk at the cemetery, but other than that it was an uneventful run.

Hahaha @chris_in_cal .
@martaindale Glad you are enjoying the trail runs and doing better with the heat. Yeah, that temp change is going to be hard to deal with. Enjoy your HM this weekend. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Pretty flowers @WarmJellyfish .
Nice running @John772016 . The heat makes such a difference.

Parkrun this morning. My times are continuing to improve which I’m happy about. I managed 27 minutes today (although the official time was 27:08 and I have no idea where they got the extra eight seconds from - the difference is only usually two or three seconds) and my PB is 26:32. Interestingly, when I compare my lap times, my final kilometre today was faster by 10 seconds than my final kilometre in my PB.
One of the reasons I ran so well is that about 500 metres in a guy in his early 60s caught up to me and started chatting. It was downhill at the time so I was happy to talk, however I was expecting him to pass me. At the turnaround, when we had to come back up the hill, it became obvious he was not faster than me and he had to work hard to keep up. Conversely, I was working hard to make sure that he knew that I was faster than him.
We continued this charade until the very end where there is a 200m flat and fast finish and he pulled ahead by a couple of metres. Then, very kindly, he stopped just before the finish line to let me pass and cross ahead of him, acknowledging that the only reason he had gotten there that quickly was by having me dragging him along up the hills. It was most courteous of him, and I was very impressed with his running etiquette.
I see in the official results we recorded the exact same time.
I was delighted to find I was 18th overall a field of 69, and second woman home.

Congratulations on your parkrun @ContraryMaryMary . That is an awesome story!

On Wednesday, I did an early morning wun on the treadmill. Avg pace for the running portion was 12:23 min/mile. I ran a little over a mile before taking a minute walk break. After work, I was home for about 45 min and then picked up mom for a funeral of a neighbor/friend who passed away Saturday. I feel for her daughter, who has been living with her and caring for her for years. I can't imagine how hard it would be to lose my mother the day before Mother's Day.
Yesterday, I worked from 7:30 - 4:30. You all know enough about me by now to know that I did NOT get up early enough to run before going to work. 😉 I did go out for a fast walk around town during my break. I didn't run any because I knew I was playing tennis later and didn't really want to sweat much. Unfortunately, it was pretty warm and humid so I was soaked with sweat. I had taken other clothes, so was able to change before heading back to work. The walk was at an avg pace of 14:29 min/mile or 4.1 mph.
After work, I ran an errand and then met a friend for some singles tennis. Did I mention that it was hot and humid? We were a bit sluggish, but it was still fun. We played two sets. I won the first one 6-1 and lost the second one 2-6. We just called it a tie and quit for the night.
I went to the gym this morning. I woke up something during the night with my back hurting and it was tight this morning, so we opted to not do dead lift today. I did do bench press and while I didn't get a PR, what I did felt a bit easier - 2 sets of 10 at 45 pounds and one set of 4 at 55 pounds. My assisted pull ups were better - with 80 pounds assist, I did 3 sets of 20, 12, and 8 reps. I'll try 70 pound assist next time. There were lots of other arm exercises and some legs thrown in for good measure. I also did back extensions which seemed to help my back some.
Afterwards, mom and I got haircuts and ran a couple of errands. I was home long enough for a quick lunch and then got stuff together to help mom finish planting her garden. We wanted to finish since it's supposed to storm tonight. That took about 1.5 hours.
After I got home, I went out for a driveway wun…my intention. When I saw my pace for the first mile, I realized I could call it a run, so did a bit more running for the next 0.75 miles . Splits were 14:16 and 13:33. So, nice and easy…but again hot and humid and sweaty. (Not 100°F though.)

I ran 1.03M at 14'30
I am planning to try a more vigorous run tomorrow so for tonight I was thinking of just laying around, then decide on a short shuffle just to keep loose.
8 -
Hi everyone,
Yesterday I had a really hard interval run at the gym. 15x 1 min, 1 minute easy pace in between. That workout always tests my resolve. It is definitely a workout I would NOT recommend for a run date :). I ran 11km.
The afternoon was filled with lots of 10 year old boys on bikes, with various types of balls, sporting equipment and cake. There were a total of 3 flat tires (oops). Needless to say, I was really exhausted at the end of the day.
@Teresa502 Good luck at your new/old job!
@martaindale I think you will enjoy the change of temp for the race. Colder is always easier than hotter in my opinion (as long as the colder is above freezing).
I have the half my daughter “made” me sign up for next weekend. I am a little worried it will be on the “hotter” side. I always train early in the morning and it’s always nice and cool, so I am not prepared for anything warm-ish.
106.4/270km for May
6 -
Checking out for now. I have a massive uti, which was the reason why I was so exhausted lately. Going on a trip anyway from tomorrow. Thus we'll see how things go thereafter.
7 -
I had to jump on here to share this morning. I had a 5km race this morning. I lined up at the 40 minute mark and hoped to finished just under that time. My time was 33:08!!!!!!!!!!!! I took NO walk breaks! I was NOT anticipating it going that well! I looked through my running journals, and the last time I went that fast was sometime before 2020!

The charger for my watch has given up completely so new one ordered. Hopefully it won’t take too long to arrive. I should have had one ordered before as it was playing up but was in denial as over the past few weeks we’ve had lots of tiny issues with updates & internet
No run yesterday as just didn’t have enough time during the day and enough energy by the evening. I’ve been paying more attention to my body battery readings & yesterday was down to 11
@angf0679 Congratulation. U did a fantastic job!
6 -
@Laurz9191 That does sound like a really challenging run. Sounds like a great birthday for you son. Hopefully the weather will be perfect for your HM next weekend.
@yirara I hope you feel better soon and enjoy your vacation.
Congratulations @angf0679 . That's an awesome time and you look so happy.
@Mari33a Nice running. I understand about denial. I did the same thing last year and had to pay extra to get it shipped in two days so it would arrive before I left for a tennis tournament and vacation. The things we get into because of procrastination. 😉

We had storms/rain last night, so my driveway was wet and slick. I opted for a treadmill wun. The run part was a run/walk of 2/1 min at 4.5, 4.7, 4.9, 5.0-5.7/4.0 mph. Avg pace was 12:32 min/mile. Avg HR was 133 with a max of 164 bpm.
Heading out in a bit to watch two of my great nieces in their dance recital. Should be cute, but a late night.

Timing! My charger acted up this morning and I thought to just order a replacement. Since it's a day off I got on the manufacturers chat channel and after about :20 mins of chat back and fourth they are sending me a free replacement. I'm not sure it was worth the time and energy...but I do love a deal. ;)
7 -
Fantastic result @ang0679 (why do names sometimes link and sometimes not?). That’s a huge success. Well done!
@mari33a, I got a new charger for free from Garmin when mine gave out after about 7 years use. Definitely worth a phone call.

I ran 4.03M at 14'11 out at the beach.
It's blustery and overcast, about 63 °F.

I traveled to Sioux Falls today. My plane landed at 2:45 and packet pickup was scheduled to end at 3pm. I knew it was a long shot but it's a small airport and a cab was waiting when I walked out so I went straight there. They were packing up when I got there but the lady running it dug through her bag and found my bib/shirt! My hotel was less than a half mile away so I walked and saw the park where the shuttle bus/finish line will be tomorrow.
After I got checked in I went on a short shakeout run along a hike/bike trail that runs along a river through town and feeds the eponymous Sioux Falls. The falls were really pretty and the trail is really nice. It was in the mid 50's and sunny. Absolutely beautiful!
It's supposed to be 38 feels like 33F at race start. I am wearing leggings, long sleeve, gloves, hat and a rain jacket/windbreaker. My jacket stuffs down really small so as I warm up I can stow it easily. I wish I had packed a headband to cover my ears but I think it will be ok.

Well, it looks like I should have called Garmin last year instead of paying beaucoup bucks for a new charger. LOL Glad you were able to get a new one for free @chris_in_cal and @ContraryMaryMary . I hope you can too @Mari33a . I tried the "aftermarket" ones and they didn't last a month.
Nice longer run @chris_in_cal . Glad to see you are recovering well from your health issues.
@martaindale That was close for the packet pick-up. Good luck with your race today! I'm sure you are going to do great!

Race report in the spoiler. Sioux Falls Skedaddle HM, state # 12. Tldr: went really well!
It was cool and breezy this morning, perfect conditions! I woke up at 5, had coffee and breakfast then walked 0.2 miles to the finish line park where the busses were waiting to take us to the start line.
This is a smaller race and logistics were very well organized. We started right on time. I was feeling good during my warm up and the conditions were optimal so I decided to push it and see what I could do with the run/walk intervals.
The course is overall pretty flat and follows along the same bike/hike trail I used for my shakeout yesterday. There are small gently rolling hills, just enough elevation change to give different muscles a chance to work without feeling the struggle of hill climbing.
I kept an eye on my watch and noticed I was pretty easily getting down to 8:50-9:05 pace by the end of my run intervals; feeling the effort but not to the degree where I was afraid I would hit a wall later. After the first few miles I passed the 2:10 pacers and my goal became to keep them behind me. I would pick a person and work on chasing them down over a few intervals, then pick a new one and repeat. It worked really well to keep me pushing as I started getting tired. Looking at my splits I managed a fairly consistent pace for most of the race then negative split the last few miles. Official finish time 2:06:47!! That's better then my last HM by 7:10!
This race gives me hope that sub 2hr is maybe within reach using the walk/run. I need to do some work on pacing the run intervals better, but that will come with practice.
9 -
That's better then my last HM by 7:10!
What an uplifting race report. I'm so happy for you. Everything went according to plan, your midrace/pace confidence, and your post-race thoughts on busting 2:00. Great!
3 -
Congrats @angf0679, always great when you can surprise yourself!
Nice run @Mari33aNice treadmill run @quilteryoyo, hope you enjoyed the dance recital!
Great job @chris_in_cal
Not an ad - > I will always recommend calling Garmin support if any issues, they've been more responsive to me than any other company I've dealt with.
Nice run @tarun_yadavA!
Great work on the HM time @martaindale, shaving 7:10 off your last HM is so impressive!
No running for me this weekend though I had originally planned 2@8km; more info in the spoiler if you're interested/bored.

Total = 82.20km / 57.59 miles (Goal - 161Km / 100 miles)Not a good weekend for my running due to severe nerve pain in my leg & the insomnia that often comes with it. That timing was unfortunate as the weather has been nice once the rain & seriously ominous thunderclouds moved by each day by mid-afternoon.
On a more positive note, since I couldn't run Saturday, managed to have about 30 plants potted & underway on my balcony garden. I was waiting to make sure we didn't get hit with a late freeze (like last year that killed most of my plants!) Will look for a few more vegetable varieties this week as I need to pick up some more dirt anyway.I did get out for about an ~7km walk this afternoon, and it was bearable so, hopefully🤞, back to running form this Victoria Day Monday.

Nice run @tarun_yadavA .
Congratulations on your race @martaindale . That's a huge improvement in time! Amazing pace!
@John772016 Thanks. The dance recital was really cute. I enjoy watching the little ones "dance." I think just get up in front of people is a great lesson to learn, whether you know the moves or not. Sorry you are having nerve pain. Hope it goes away and you can run as you want tomorrow. Sounds like you made good use of your time.

The dance recital was fun. The littles are always so cute. I didn't get home until 10pm..which is pretty late for this lady. 🤣
