Hi Linda, we had another gorgeous day today. Temps were in the 80s with high humidity, but there was enough breeze to keep the moke away. Got in a swim and a walk . Had lunch with my sisters. Tonight I would love some baked ziti, with garlic bread, a salad, and coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies, and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace again.

Hi Zzyyggy. Sounds like you had a wonderful day. I’d love to have lunch with my sisters, but they live so far away. We had a nice day, a couple of degrees cooler than yours because there were high clouds moving in. There’s a storm system bringing rain overnight and tomorrow. It looks like it’s going to stay mostly to the east of us. Hopefully, we’ll get some rain. The crepe myrtles are blooming, as well as the tiger lilies. We have this one azalea that’s been blooming for a very long time. I insisted that Sweetie move the poor thing after he ran over again with the lawnmower for the third time. Now it’s in a much safer location. Apparently, it’s very happy in its new location. I hope it survives because it’s my favorite azalea. It’s the same pink color as the kwanzan cherry trees we had at our last house. I loved those trees. They had beautiful flowers in the spring and spectacular color in the fall.

Your dinner order sounds really good, but I ordered the Italian Sausage and Tortellini Soup for dinner. I found the recipe in one of Betty’s emails and it was delicious. I made it with turkey Italian sausage, of course. We loved it. I added the ingredients to my shopping list for next week’s menu. If Sweetie can’t find the sausage I’ll use ground beef instead. We decided to make meatballs for the soup, so it should be easy to add enough Italian spices for the best flavor. Anyway, soup and the crusty bread Chef Francois made will be delicious. Chocolate chip cookies and ice mochas out on the terrace—count me in!

Hi Linda, it was very hot and humid here today. 85 degrees. I got in a trip to the Museum, and a. swim, although I won't be going at that time again for a swim 4:00. I was in the middle of swim lessons, and the noise level was really loud. I'm going to have to figure out another route to go on Thursdays. I still want to swim though after my trip to the museum. That feels so good. For dinner tonight I would love the meatloaf special with mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, a dinner roll and a coca cola. Lots of butter of course. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight.

Hi Zzyyggy. We had a cool, rainy day with the high of 75 degrees. We even got almost an inch of rain. It was lovely late this afternoon, after everything dried up. There was a nice breeze when we went out around 6:00 pm. Sweetie had some paperwork he had to drop off. I meant to stop at the drug store, too, but we didn’t get to it. There’s always tomorrow.

Your description of your swim today brought back memories. Having taken kids to swimming lessons at a local university pool, I can well imagine the noise level. At least you got your swim for today.

I love Francois’ meatloaf. A meatloaf sandwich on his homemade white sandwich bread will be perfect for dinner. I’ll order a root beer and some kettle chips, too. And later when Viktor is bringing around drinks and desserts I can have some oatmeal cookies and a cup of coffee.

Hello, Viktor. How are you this afternoon? I’d like a table out in the shade by the gardens on the patio by the pool. I have a little brown skink (that’s its official name) for the garden. This little guy loves leaf litter and eats bugs and beetles and other critters in the garden. I can’t believe he let me take his picture. They’re very shy.

Whew, it’s even hot here at the cybercafe, but there’s a nice breeze and it not as humid as it is at home. Viktor, I’d love iced tea and a meatloaf sandwich and chips, please. Just like last night. When I walked through the cybercafe kitchen earlier Francois was making individual strawberry tarts. I’m going to order that for Sunset Dessert tonight. I still get to enjoy strawberry season even though I’m allergic to strawberries now. Mm, strawberry tarts with whipped cream and maybe even some strawberry ice cream. 😋

Hi Linda, love your little guy. It's raining, wet, dark and dreary here but we did have sunshine earlier. For dinner tonight I'm going back to my childhood and having fish sticks, peas, and tater tots with a coca cola. For dessert sticking with the childhood theme I'll have some jello with whipped cream, and an iced mocha, I know the mocha isn't childhood. I'll sit out on the terrace again tonight since I'm not seeing sunlight right now.

Hi Zzyyggy. It’s getting late in the morning. It’s a beautiful looking day—sunny and breezy. Unfortunately, the humidity is high at 80% and the dew point is hanging around 70 degrees, which is terribly uncomfortable. Fortunately, it’s nice inside. Thank goodness it’s a gorgeous day at the cybercafe.

I’ve spent the morning here at the cybercafe in the dining room alcove at a table near the french doors where I can enjoy the view outside. Viktor has kept my coffee cup full and replenished the pastry basket, too. I found a jigsaw puzzle waiting for me. It’s a picture of the view outside the window—the orchard and gardens beyond.

Hi Linda, we finally have a Saturday with some sunshine. Hazy because of the Wildfire smoke, but sunshine. Sat outside and read for a bit. Then came back up and fell asleep for a nap, and just barely woke up. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a grilled bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, and a frosty mug of root beer. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies and an iced mocha. I'm going to sit out on the terrace and look out over the ocean. Later we'll have a bonfire with s'mores.

Hi Zzyyggy. My s’mores sundae last night was delicious. Sweetie told me he wanted a brownie with his s’mores sundae, but he fell asleep before we made s’mores. It’s the middle of Sunday afternoon now and all I want to do is take a nap. I might just do that. I can go nap in the chaise lounge under the pink umbrella by the cyberpool. I like the pink umbrella because it matches my hat and sandals. Viktor will make sure I stay hydrated with plenty of iced tea and plates of fruit kabobs.

Hi Linda, another day of smokey sunshine, but reasonable temps. I got in a walk this morning, and sat outside to read forfor a bit. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the Sunday Prime rib with baked potatoe, salad, and a coca cola. Lots of butter on that baked potato. For dessert I'll have a slice of devil's food cake with chocolate ice cream, and an iced mocha. I'll join you at the pool, and later we'll have another bonfire down by the pool. I took a nap this afternoon so it's good.

Hi Zzyyggy. After spending an hour or so scuba diving in the cyberpool, I’m ready for dinner. I know it’s early. I ordered some low country boil with cheese grits. I’m going to order some coffee chocolate chip ice cream for dessert.🍨

Hi Linda, I think I'll go for a swim since I haven't been since Friday. I'll do a few laps and have dinner by the pool again. For dinner tonight I would love a blt grinder with no tomatoes but lots of bacon. A bag of chips and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some homemade chocolate chip cookies, and an iced mocha. It's been cloudy and rainy most of the day, but cleared up this afternoon. Got a walk in.

Zzyyggy, it’s finally raining—pouring rain—at a rate over 2 inches an hour. Wow, I wasn’t expecting this much rain. It’s the perfect time to have a cup of coffee and read my book.

Hi Linda, I think we had the same rainstorm. It was really raining out this morning. I cancelled my ride for swimming, and the Shelburne Museum, and went back to bed. Finally woke up around 10:00 so I must have needed the sleep. My stomache has been a little upset with me today. I had take out chineese food from a new restaurant last night that didn't sit well with it, blah. Anyways for dinner tonight I could go for a bowl of homemade chicken soup with lots of bread and butter, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate ice cream with chocolate sauce and an iced mocha. I'll eat down by the pool again, and go for a swim.

Hi Zzyyggy. I woke up this morning at 10:30 because I was reading and lost track of time and went to bed at 5:00 am. 😳 Sorry the Chinese food didn’t sit well with you. Gosh, I haven’t had Chinese food in a loooooong time. I wish I could go back in time and go to August Moon or Lung Yung’s. Right now chicken soup and some of Chef Francois’ crusty bread would be wonderful. I bet he even has some almond cookies. (I have a Chinese cookbook with a delicious almond cookie recipe.)

Hi Linda and Zzyyggy, smores sounds great. I'll have dessert first (yum!) around the bonfire and afterwards some barbeque ribs with mashed potatoes, which I'm sure Chef Francois adds lots of butter and herbs to. For a beverage I'll have ice cold sweet tea.

I hope the air will clear up in your areas very soon!

Hi everyone, welcome back easypeasy. We had sunshine here without the hazy smoke. There was a breeze to blow it away. Sat outside and read for a bit, then went for a walk. For dinner tonight I would love a big platter of spaghetti and meatballs with garlic bread and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream with an iced mocha. I'll eat down on the ocean shore, and go for a dip first. We'll have a bonfire on the beach tonight, and see the full moon. I saw it this morning disappearing behind the mountains.

Hi Zzyyggy and Easypeasy. Dinner at the beach sounds delightful, Zzyyggy. I was going to order whatever macaroni and cheese special Chef Francois made today, only to have my plans changed. Thanks Easypeasy, barbecue sounds really good. Of course, I’ll have barbecue chicken with Alabama sauce, white slaw, and deviled egg potato salad. Sweetened iced tea for me. Sweet tea is more for sipping on a lazy afternoon and I saw Viktor laying out an hor d’oeuvres spread that includes jalapeño poppers. I’m going to need something to calm some of the spicy food. Chef Francois made grilled Campari tomatoes—a favorite of mine. Contrary to what our local restaurants serve, not all appetizers need to be fried. There are so many goodies here. Igor and Jorge outdid themselves setting up this evening. I see they even have everything ready for s’mores. Of course, barbecue wouldn’t be complete with without banana pudding (love those Nilla Wafers). Will I even have room for s’mores?

Zzyyggy, it felt really hot today. It was a cool 88 degrees, but the humidity and dew point were so high it felt like the temperature was well into the 90’s. While we had some blue sky and sun today, it seemed mostly cloudy. I’m not sure our part of the Charlotte area is going to see the moon tonight. My weather app says we have 55% cloud cover now, so maybe we’ll see the moon through the trees. This time of year the moon will be rising right in front of our house and if it wasn’t for the lovely maple tree and my neighbor’s house I’d have a really good view.

So happy to hear you got to enjoy the sun and breathe easy! We aren't getting the wildfire smoke here in my part of the country, but my heart goes out to all who are dealing with it currently.

What are you reading Zzyyggy? I love a good book. Currently working my way through a Jane Austen (Mansfield Park.) Enjoy you spaghetti and swim! Just be sure to wait 30 minutes before you wade out into the surf. 😉🌊 Thankfully weather at the cybercafe is always perfect.

I made chicken salad for dinner which Francois upgraded by serving it on a luxurious buttery croissant with a side of sweet potato fries and cherry cola to drink. Thank you good sir! Continuing with the cherry theme… for dessert I'll have warm cherry pie with chocolate chunk ice cream. See you at the bonfire.

    🙂🍒🥂

Linda, I've never had grilled Campari tomatoes before but will have to try sometime. Your addition of banana pudding is such a good idea. I used to have that all the time growing up, delicious.

The cybercafe has a truly dedicated staff. I hope they get to have bites of everything!

Easypeasy, while the Campari tomatoes can be grilled, I use the broiler in my Breville Smart Oven. Our son is the Grill Master. His grilled meats and vegetables are legendary. This is the recipe we like: cut tomatoes in half. Mix together your favorite store bought or homemade breadcrumbs. Add grated parmigiana cheese. I like to add finely chopped fresh basil and oregano if I have some. Spoon breadcrumb mix over tomatoes, place on baking sheet, and broil or grill until the breadcrumbs are golden. Campari tomatoes have the best flavor. They always taste like they’ve been freshly picked in the middle of summer. Our son made homemade pizzas for a birthday party and used sliced Campari tomatoes on them. They were delicious.

When I was a kid we didn’t have air conditioning and on really hot summer days my mother would serve of fresh sliced tomatoes with mayonnaise and a cold salad with tuna fish instead of cooking. I’m ordering that for lunch. Fortunately, the cybercafe’s garden always has ripe tomatoes. I saw Jorge bringing in a crate of fresh peaches from the orchard this morning. Iced tea and a bowl of sliced peaches would be great, too. Chef Francois will definitely be making peach cake and my very favorite peach custard pie. I’ll have to order a piece of pie for dessert tonight.

Hi everyone, both your orders sound so good. However, I'm going to have the rotisserie chicken with potato salad, and corn on the cob with lots of butter and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies, and an iced mocha. We had sunshine all day with clear skies, but it was muggy here as well. I did some reading outside in the shade. There was a brisk breeze blowing out there. I'll have dinner by the pool this evening. We'll have a bonfire later with s'mores.

Hi, Zzyyggy. My order before was for lunch. Sweetie and I had rotisserie chicken for dinner. I’m joining you by the pool for dessert. I didn’t want to miss a piece or two of Chef’s peach custard pie. One of these day I just might have to make one. Maybe I’ll have pie for my birthday instead of cake.

I just looked out my front window. Boy, it’s gotten really dark. They said we’d have scattered thunderstorms this evening. I guess they’re here.

Hi Linda, We haven't had a thunderstorm yet this year, and I'm looking forward to them coming across the lake when I'm safely at home. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the fried scallops with french fries, and a coca cola. Lots of tarter sauce, and some cole slaw. I'm going to eat on the terrace tonight. I finally went for a swim today at the Y so I'm swummed out.

Hi Zzyyggy. We can have thunderstorms all year long, but mostly in the spring and summer. Fun fact—we have 40 to 50 thunderstorms per year. I wonder if they’d count the one we had this afternoon. We had 0.02 inches of rain and one really close lightning strike this afternoon (that doesn’t count the half inch of rain early this morning). We’re supposed to have more thunderstorms this evening, but right now the sun is shining. It’s real pretty outside, but horrendously humid. Once the humidity is over 75% and the dew point is 75 degrees

I ordered a fresh fruit and vegetable platter and a selection of cheeses that comes with an array of sauces dips and Chef Francois’ basket of artisan breads and crackers, including my favorite little cheese crackers. Oh, there’s even fresh pita for the hummus. The layered bean dip and the crab dip are delicious.

I love being out here on the terrace because I can just pop over to the gazebo and grab a soft drink or some ice cream. Oh, I can have a root beer float with vanilla ice cream. 😋 😋

Hi Linda, coming in late. Been engrossed in a book most of the day, and listening to the protestors on the waterfront. There was a huge crowd down there. For dinner tonight Francois has fired up the wood stoves and making pizza to order. I'll have mine with the works and barbecued chicken wings with a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a slice of apple pie with vanilla ice cream. We had sunshine all day today, but I'll eat out on the terrace tonight.

Hi Zzyyggy. I’ve been reading most of the day, too. Then we watched the Army parade, which was amazing. Time for dessert. Sweetie wants a big slice of pumpkin pie with vanilla ice cream. I’m going to have a slice of red, white, and blue cake—a chocolate cake with pretty icing.

It’s been hot and humid. Sweetie wanted to mow the lawn this afternoon, but I wanted him to wait until morning. The weather app said it felt like 93 degrees. Tomorrow morning will be much cooler with temperatures in the mid 70’s—still very humid, but not dangerous to his health. He waited, thank goodness.

Hi Linda, walked up to the pool and went swimming this morning. Then walked home. I'm pooped. Also did an online order, and did some reading outside. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the Sunday roasted chicken with stuffing mashed potatoes, beans, gravy, dinner rolls, and a coca cola. I'm starving. I'll eat on the terrace tonight with the ocean view, and watch the sunset. Maybe later we can have a bonfire with s'mors. Ooops for dessert I'll have a slice of apple pie with vanilla ice cream, and an iced mocha.

Hi Zzyyggy. Your Sunday dinner sounded so good, I ordered the same thing. I added caramel drizzled over the ice cream and pie. It’s beautiful out here on the terrace. At home the weather was so humid it was uncomfortable. Sweetie mowed the lawn this morning—76 degrees and 90% humidity. He said at least it was windy. We might have thunderstorms later, but the storms won’t be bringing in cooler weather.
