Posting late today. Yesterday was a strange day, I exercised and we walked the dog in the morning. Then in the afternoon, I was just wiped out and mostly stayed on the couch.
Went just a hair over my IN target. I changed my conditional formatting to show:
- less than or equal to target IN as green
- between target IN +1 and +50 as orange
- over target IN +50 as red
Today is going to be a high IN and low OUT day, but I'll report on today tomorrow morning.

@age_is_just_a_number , I hear you! My big size is getting looser on me all the time. I remember when I lost 50 pounds 10 years ago, I swore I would never buy big clothes again. Well, that didn't happen. I did keep some of the smaller clothes with hopes I would wear them again some day. And I am determined that I will NOT gain the weight back again. We will both get there!
Day 71—07/24— 163.8 - I don't know how l lost a day! I must be getting old...ha, ha! I had a hard boiled egg sandwich for lunch. Dinner will probably be left over turkey chili.
I ordered a new pair of shorts that came today. When I took them out of the package, I thought oh no...they would be too small, but I tried them anyway. Well, they are a tad snug, but no problem putting them on....I was pleasantly surprised. I figure a few more pounds and they will be perfect.
Day 72—07/25— 164 - Done eating for the day. Had fish and veggies for dinner. I had to go to CVS to pick ip my CGM'S so I have those to monitor my blood sugar. Will be a quiet evening. Might go swimming tomorrow.

I also lost 50 pounds years ago. I stopped logging and measuring stuff, thinking that I knew the amounts. I gained it all back. I will now log for life. It is incredibly easy with MFP since everything is already in there and takes seconds to click on.

Hi everyone.
I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.

Week 1 Goal: 142.4 (seems lofty, but I was at 143.0 for two days in a row at the end of the last 100)

Day 71—07/24— 138.2 - 2 jobs today. I agreed to do yesterday and today, I'm not sure about the remaining 4 weeks after tonight. I had originally given my notice until the beginning of September since I am going into the hospital for my foot procedure on September 8th (not supposed to drive or walk for a couple of days) and then flying out for my birthday vacation. I have never left a job without lots of notice. I have also worked for people where they and their spouses and kids help out - but unlike the owner's young wife at this job, never take all of the server's tables, or any tables. I had my first restaurant job at 14, so 50 years in and around this business. Protocol is "off". I have already kind of checked out, but I will fulfill the last 4 weeks if need be. Several times when she does this I just leave, like last Thursday when I left 10 minutes after I got there because 3 tables came in and she took them all with none going to me. I normally work alone there, she starts at 8am so there is no reason for her to stay past 4pm. Leaving meant that I spent some extra glorious time in my garden : - ) I easily could have taken a well paying job at Joseph Creek (long term care and independent living food server) for that shift, but it was too late by that time. Rambling this morning. This is what is on my mind.
Day 72—07/25— 138.4 - That was my last shift at the small restaurant. The young wife asked if it was my last night before she left at 4pm. I said that it was, and she hugged me like 5 times before she left and told me how much that she would miss me. I do wish them success. I am a little long in the tooth now to stick it out and help them to grow the business. I may or may not take shifts elsewhere on those days, part of me just wants to Not.
Day 73—07/26— 140.2 - Ouch!!! Almost 2 pounds in one day sigh. Possibly everything in transit? I had a great shift at my primary job yesterday, the Indian restaurant. I picked up extra hours there on top of my regular shift. Split shifts there today and tomorrow. I will get some weeding and stuff done during my breaks, and maybe a bit of a tan lol.
Day 74—07/27— 140.4 - To be expected for a couple of reasons: I sweated my face off for my 2 hour break digging in the garden during the hottest time of day which always produces a gain for me, and I had 2 black russians (200 extra calories plus fat burning turns off when alcohol is introduced) last night when I got home from work. Those fresh cherries that I am eating from the Farmer's Market while they are in season definitely made their way out, TMI, like 10 times yesterday. Lots of fiber. MFP has me at 1200 calories in, and I am usually close to that. A bit over yesterday, but lots more calories out, almost as much as I took in. I feel like I have to be at 135 or less to stop dipping up into the 140s.

I went way over yesterday. The good news is that it didn't negatively impact my 7 day trend weight (yet). I know it is the trend over time that matters. One day of excess does not define me and today I will get back on track. To get my 7 day trend IN calories back to 1770 in 7 days, I need to target 1600 IN for the next 6 days. I know myself well enough to know that I will not achieve that. Not wanting to set myself up for failure, I will keep my target IN at 1770.

@dawnbgethealthy , it's amazing how keeping tabs on food keeps you honest. No one is perfect and we all take liberties on occasion, and there is nothing wrong with that. As long as we get back on course, we'll be ok!

@Crochetluvr and @dawnbgethealthy 50lbs losses! That's amazing. Keeping it off is the second challenge. I feel fortunate that I got some of my father's genes and I married my husband. My father was active and generally slim. My mother was obese (5'4" 250lbs at her highest). She had gastric bypass (the doctor's told her she was border line) when I was 16. It ruined her life. I wish she had listened to the doctor and not done the surgery. She did lose about 70lbs during the year after the surgery. She kept it off for several years, but it didn't take too long and she was back up to 220lbs. My parents were snowbirds and spend the winter in Florida. One year, they went to Florida and she was determined to lose the weight once and for all. And she did. When they came back to Canada, people didn't recognize her. She was about 150lbs. She remained around that weight for the rest of her healthy life.
Watching her struggle as a 250lb woman with yo-yo dieting, crash diets, Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, the surgery, etc. etc. Weight was always a focus in our house. It shapes who I am today.
My husband, who is an amazing home chef, has taught me about good food, healthy eating, vegetables and enjoying food. I often think if I hadn't married him that I would have gone down the same path as my mother.

The calories-in have been "green" for 3 days. Today's weigh in was better. It will take few days for the averages to catch up, but only if I stay mindful.
I had a chance to stay home and rest—I declined a family invitation. I simply felt too burnt out after that difficult week. I feel better today. Yesterday I did a yoga workout, then a really solid strength workout plus a long cooldown stretch.

I have riding a lot this week, I am going to be gaining for the next couple days as my body is holding on to water, I hit 120 miles on my bike the past 7 days. Feels good to be riding! Tomorrow will be a rest day, so hopefully I will be sub 195 later this week.
I am 57, 6'2", my goal for the 100 days is 189 or better. I started at 4/11/2025 at ~217.

age_is_just_a_number The handyman never showed up. At 4:00 he finally texted me that he was getting some new tires put on. What??? You didn't know that yesterday when you scheduled or this morning when you didn't drive over? Humph. So hard to get good reliable help! So he rescheduled for today. I set alarm, woke up early and tidy-ed (tidied?) up house a bit and waited…waited. Finally he texts that he's going to spend some time with his young son. Okay, but you didn't know that yesterday??? Honestly, I know he is dreading this particular job and would rather start something else around here, but I really want this done. I think he will do a very good job based on his previous work with me and others so I wait….. The plan is for tomorrow now.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But it’s proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I don’t think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

Day 73—07/26—187.2 ✅ (Trend Weight: 189.2) Finally I got that comforting #7 back in my weight. That gives me a little wiggle room with fluctuations or travel weights. I have such a long way to go to reach anything near goal weight so all progress is great. I need to get off my butt though and get more intentional exercise in. It has kind of went by the wayside since Owen had his surgery. Handyman is supposed to arrive today to begin pulling up kitchen flooring so that he can get old layers of subflooring out, level them and redo them to match the height of my primary bedroom space so floors can be matching and reconnected. It is going to be a mess here for awhile again. It’s always tough when it’s the kitchen and dining areas. And my privacy (for exercising) will be limited again. Humph….
🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️Day 74—07/27—186.2 ✅ (Trend Weight: 188.9) Another nice drop for me but I honestly think I’ve had too many days of calories way lower than goal. I've been very conscious of my plan and goals. I had several pounds to make up for this week in my weekly goal and maybe went a bit too far. I’ve also been a bit too busy and tired to eat as much while watching DGS after surgery. My meals have been planned but small. My snacks have been few. I’ve been feeling very light-headed because of it. Not in my diabetic way but different. I think I need a day of more calories. At least to goal if not a bit higher. However, I don’t know that it will be today. I just feel like someone handed me that ball and instinct told me to run with it. I don’t want to just increase the calories with junk and garbage. I’ll put some thought into it. Soon though….. I also need sleep. Bad! I’ve seriously been getting either 2 hours or 3 hours for the past couple of days. I hope after DGS leaves tonight I can get to bed a little earlier and finally get some zzzz’s.

Welcome to the official end of this weekend… I had a great weekend, I got over 50 miles of riding in, and it felt good, didn't think I was going to get much in on Sunday but I felt good. My VO2max went up and so did my FTP « cycling measures of health and power. Can I get below 195, and say there lol I know it is coming but we all want it sooner than our body will give it to us! lol

Did a ROM Walk yesterday along Front Street. Started at the St. Lawrence Market and ended at Union Station. It was interesting. I learned that the Dominion building between Yonge & Bay Streets is completely empty! It is an historical building. I can only imagine what that real estate is worth.
I'm glad my over indulgent Saturday seems to be leaving me as quickly as it showed up. Still went a little over yesterday. It was so hot during the walk. Afterward my husband wanted a drink. We ended up getting shakes at the Shake Shack. OMG, was it ever delicious. But the deliciously wore off quickly, by the time we got home it was not doing good things in my stomach. Then I logged it and discovered it was 750 calories! The worst part is that I really didn't even want it, but thought, he is having one so I will have one. I will be stronger in the future. Ice cream and generally cold things don't seem to agree with me anymore. The fact that I was able to absorb most of those calories and not completely blow my calories IN for the day is surprising.
Today we are heading to visit my FIL, who is still in the hospital. It is going to be a sedentary day.

It is funny because I've been weighing myself daily for years. It still didn't prevent me from gaining 30lbs. For me, it has been this challenge and the daily check-ins with this group that have made the difference. AND, the data in the way I have it set up now; which I only did because of the challenge.

Yesterday's workout included spin bike and yoga. I've had four days in a row of staying in goal for my calories. I did some food prep for this week's work lunches as well.
I'm motivated to get the red and yellow out of those averages. They're a lagging indicator, but they also tell me about consistency. I can't be all over the place as I was last week. It's bad for my health and it makes me feel tired. Off to work I go.

Hi everyone.
I am Dawn. I live in SE British Columbia Canada. I am 5'2" (or 5'3"?) and 64 years of age. I have done a bunch of these 100s now, I have lost count lol. I was sitting at 130 for quite awhile, trying desperately to get into the 120s, but gained little by little over the last couple of years. My "ideal" weight should be between 110-118 for my height, BMI, and stuff. At this point I just really want to get back into the 130s.

Day 71—07/24— 138.2 - 2 jobs today. I agreed to do yesterday and today, I'm not sure about the remaining 4 weeks after tonight. I had originally given my notice until the beginning of September since I am going into the hospital for my foot procedure on September 8th (not supposed to drive or walk for a couple of days) and then flying out for my birthday vacation. I have never left a job without lots of notice. I have also worked for people where they and their spouses and kids help out - but unlike the owner's young wife at this job, never take all of the server's tables, or any tables. I had my first restaurant job at 14, so 50 years in and around this business. Protocol is "off". I have already kind of checked out, but I will fulfill the last 4 weeks if need be. Several times when she does this I just leave, like last Thursday when I left 10 minutes after I got there because 3 tables came in and she took them all with none going to me. I normally work alone there, she starts at 8am so there is no reason for her to stay past 4pm. Leaving meant that I spent some extra glorious time in my garden : - ) I easily could have taken a well paying job at Joseph Creek (long term care and independent living food server) for that shift, but it was too late by that time. Rambling this morning. This is what is on my mind.
Day 72—07/25— 138.4 - That was my last shift at the small restaurant. The young wife asked if it was my last night before she left at 4pm. I said that it was, and she hugged me like 5 times before she left and told me how much that she would miss me. I do wish them success. I am a little long in the tooth now to stick it out and help them to grow the business. I may or may not take shifts elsewhere on those days, part of me just wants to Not.
Day 73—07/26— 140.2 - Ouch!!! Almost 2 pounds in one day sigh. Possibly everything in transit? I had a great shift at my primary job yesterday, the Indian restaurant. I picked up extra hours there on top of my regular shift. Split shifts there today and tomorrow. I will get some weeding and stuff done during my breaks, and maybe a bit of a tan lol.
Day 74—07/27— 140.4 - To be expected for a couple of reasons: I sweated my face off for my 2 hour break digging in the garden during the hottest time of day which always produces a gain for me, and I had 2 black russians (200 extra calories plus fat burning turns off when alcohol is introduced) last night when I got home from work. Those fresh cherries that I am eating from the Farmer's Market while they are in season definitely made their way out, TMI, like 10 times yesterday. Lots of fiber. MFP has me at 1200 calories in, and I am usually close to that. A bit over yesterday, but lots more calories out, almost as much as I took in. I feel like I have to be at 135 or less to stop dipping up into the 140s.
Day 75—07/28— 140.2 - 2 cocktails again last night. That is a no-no for me. I am about to have 2 full days off in a row once I get home from work tonight, the first since last September when I took a week holiday. If I stay in the 140s I will deal with it, I am going to do what I like, eat and drink what I like for the next several days. Definitely going to the lake tomorrow, we are almost to August and I haven't been even once this summer. So opportune that I am no longer working at the little restaurant or I wouldn't have been able to get 2 full days off. Looking forward to it. Today will be a breeze, just an 8 hour shift at the Indian restaurant, where I am super comfortable and enjoy myself.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
My goal from the very beginning has been to lose one pound per week for a total of 12 pounds per challenge. I have never considered that to be too much and I never thought in a million years I would find it this difficult, even at my age and with my health problems. But it’s proved to be nothing but an uphill climb and in most cases, impossible. I am going to lower my goal to 10 pounds per challenge and see if that will feel more right, more do-able. This breaks down to 0.7 lbs per challenge week. I don’t think that is too much to ask of my mind, my body and my spirit! I, again, thank you for sharing my journey with me and allowing me to travel with you on yours. It is reassuring, refreshing, enlightening and inspiring and I am forever grateful.

Day 74—07/27—186.2 ✅ (Trend Weight: 188.9) Another nice drop for me but I honestly think I’ve had too many days of calories way lower than goal. I've been very conscious of my plan and goals. I had several pounds to make up for this week in my weekly goal and maybe went a bit too far. I’ve also been a bit too busy and tired to eat as much while watching DGS after surgery. My meals have been planned but small. My snacks have been few. I’ve been feeling very light-headed because of it. Not in my diabetic way but different. I think I need a day of more calories. At least to goal if not a bit higher. However, I don’t know that it will be today. I just feel like someone handed me that ball and instinct told me to run with it. I don’t want to just increase the calories with junk and garbage. I’ll put some thought into it. Soon though….. I also need sleep. Bad! I’ve seriously been getting either 2 hours or 3 hours for the past couple of days. I hope after DGS leaves tonight I can get to bed a little earlier and finally get some zzzz’s.
🚶♀️🚶♀️🚶♀️Day 75—07/28—185.0 ✅ (Trend Weight: 188.5) Pre-logged yesterday increasing my calories just a bit. Ate my meals and snacks as planned. However, I didn’t drink the 8 oz glass of 2% milk I’d added on in order to increase the calories a bit more (while adding a bit of protein). It was just too hot and I was satisfied without it. So calories were still a tad lower than goal but more than in the past few days. My handyman never showed up yesterday and no word from him today. No cancellation text or call either because if he doesn’t show up it means he’s not coming, right? What does it take to get anyone to work in this one-horse town? It’s hot and we are surrounded by lakes and a river. I bet I know where he is today! Just so you get a little idea about my town. We have one small building inspection building with one inspector employed. I called up once (on a beautiful summer day) to set up an appointment and got the answering machine. It said he was “fishin” today and to try again tomorrow. That’s just how things work around here. I’m originally from a large suburban area outside of Detroit so I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it!

@age_is_just_a_number , you ARE fortunate. I have been overweight most of my life....I take after my mother. My dad was always slim and trim and so are my brothers. And you're right....losing is the easy part…keeping it off is the tough part. It sneaks back on. You think a pound is no big deal, but then it's 2...then 5...then 10...and before you know it, its all back. Not this time though....I am done yo-yo-ing when I get to my final goal.
Day 71—07/24— 163.8 - I don't know how l lost a day! I must be getting old...ha, ha! I had a hard boiled egg sandwich for lunch. Dinner will probably be left over turkey chili.
I ordered a new pair of shorts that came today. When I took them out of the package, I thought oh no...they would be too small, but I tried them anyway. Well, they are a tad snug, but no problem putting them on....I was pleasantly surprised. I figure a few more pounds and they will be perfect.
Day 72—07/25— 164 - Done eating for the day. Had fish and veggies for dinner. I had to go to CVS to pick ip my CGM'S so I have those to monitor my blood sugar. Will be a quiet evening. Might go swimming tomorrow.
Day 73—07/26— 164.6 - Hmmm....scale is not good the last couple days . I am trying to ignore it because I know its temporary. Not hungry right now, though...will probably have a snack for lunch and spaghetti with meatballs is planned for dinner. And I didn't know it was going to be stormy today, so no swimming.
Day 74—07/27— 164.6 - It poured this afternoon so I am staying in. Food was ok....had a seafood Cup O Noodles that I haven't had in years because of the carbs. But if you watch the carbs the rest of the day, its all good.
Day 75—07/28— 163.4 - I decided to make some more tuna/pasta salad....pasta is in the fridge chilling before I add the wet ingredients. That will be a late lunch. Doing much needed laundry today. Rain didn't help to cool things off...its another hot/humid day.

Yikes! Too much eating out this past week. I’m seeing a local production today, of the Broadway hitCome From Away
. I’m typically not one for musicals unless my son is in it. But I’m excited for this one which is based on the events in the Newfoundland town of Gander during the week following the September 11 attacks. I’ll have to make it a point to eat at home first. Enough of eating out for awhile.

Feeling discouraged. I know I’m not perfect with food choices, but I’m pretty mindful and far from excessive. I don’t constantly overindulge. It’s just frustrating to not see the weight come off quicker during those times (not this past week) I’m putting in effort. I’m not looking for perfection, just progress. Sometimes it feels out of reach.
Yesterday’s exercise: Brisk walk with Kaya (my pup) for about an hour.
