Hi Linda, we had a very cloudy day today with cooler temps. The air pressure was low as well with the heavy cloud covering. Went swimming this morning but spent the rest of the day reading. For dinner tonight we'll be celebrating Halloween in July. Francois has fired up the grills and is grilling to order. Viktor has given out big bags of our favorite candies. I'm going to have the grilled steak with potato, and corn on the cob. For dessert I'll have a slice of pumpkin pie with whipped cream and an iced mocha. How about a swim with the jack o lanterns? Not sure how Igor got them to float but by golly they are floating lighting up the pool. We'll have a bonfire with s'mores, and fireworks later on. Happy Halloween in July.

Hi Zzyyggy. I went to Costco today to get new glasses! Sweetie shopped for the few things on the shopping list while I waited in line and then chose new frames. Other than wanting to turn around and go home when we were half way there, I did okay. It wasn’t too crowded, which was good. It was hot and incredibly humid today. We got an inch of rain last night and then lost electricity overnight for a few hours, but I don’t know if it was from the storms. We could hear a lot of rolling thunder, so I’m not sure whether the loss was from a lightning strike or flooding. We had more rain tonight, but not as much thunder. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be hot and humid again.

The weather is lovely here at the cybercafe. I love when Chef Francois grills. I had the shish-kabobs. Delicious. I had some candy corn with my pumpkin pie and coffee. I think I’ll sit here on the edge of the pool with my feet in the water and enjoy the cooler weather here.

    🎃 Happy Halloween 🎃 in July! 🎃

Hi Linda, we had a perfect Summer day here. Temps in the 70s with no humidity, haze, or smoke, and nice breeze blowing. I over did it in PT this morning and am feeling it right now. Did some reading outside for a bit. For dinner tonight I would love a bucket of KFC original recipe with mashed potatoes, and gravy, and corn on the cob. A coca cola and those yummy biscuits of course. I'll eat out on the terrace and watch the sunset. We had a spetacular one here last night, and probably will again tonight.

Hi Zzyyggy. Our weather was perfectly awful. Nah, it could have been worse. We had a cooler, cloudy morning in the 70’s with super high humidity but once the sun came out in the afternoon the temperature went up into the high 80’s. Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be 76 degrees. Wow. It’s supposed to rain, but who cares about a little rain. For the next week the highs will be around 80 degrees and it’s supposed to rain every day. It rained again this evening and we got over an inch of rain. This last week we got 3.5 inches of rain.

I see you didn’t order dessert. Are you still munching on your Halloween candy? I (stupidly) watched a video from the preppy kitchen where he made a chocolate cake. I want that for dessert with a cup of coffee. No, a pot of coffee served with cream and sugar. Sweetie asked me what I wanted for my birthday next month. I would like a piece of that cake.

Hi Linda, see I was so tired that I forgot to order dessert. Viktor took pity on me, and gave me another bag of candy. We had another perfect day today with moderate temps, and a nice breeze blowing. The wild fire smoke though came back in the afternoon. I sat outside for a bit and did some reading. For dinner tonight I would love a grilled porter house steak with bake potato, corn on the cob, and and lots of butter for both. A coca cola. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars and an iced mocha. I'll out on the terrace and watch the sunset. Later this month we'll be able to see the Perseids meteor shower. I did an online grocery shopping this morning, and the store had everything on the shelves that I ordered. I'm going to do it in the early morning hours from now on. I was in Hannaford's yestarday after Pt, and that place was a madhouse. I only got a couple of things, but decided to do my order in the morning as oppose to late afternoon.

Hi Zzyyggy. That was a wonderful cybercafe sunset and now I’m ready for dessert. I ordered an iced brownie with a couple of scoops of chocolate chip mint ice cream served on the side. I hope Viktor remembers the fudge sauce and my coffee. Sweetie made sun dried tomato chicken for dinner and I made a vegetable salad. Chef Francois added a delicious macaroni and cheese side. 😋

Our weather today was amazing. The temperature stayed in the low 70’s. It was cloudy and misty all day and it was wonderful. We’ve had an exceptionally hot summer so far and I am so grateful to have had this day.

Hi Linda, we had a really perfect Summer's day out there today with low temps and humidity but the wild fire smoke came in this afternoon really thick. I'm glad I got my walk in this morning. I'm debating on whether to take my evening walk at all. I have the windows closed and the AC on. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the Sunday roast pork dinner with roasted brown potatoes, string beans with a alot of butter, gravy and some yummy dinner rolls with a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a blueberry crisp with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. I'll have my dinner on the terrace and enjoy the sunset. I'm thinking with all the smoke our sunset in the real world will be pretty spetaculiar tonight.

Hi Zzyyggy. In the past we have gotten smoke from the fires up north, but the smoke hasn’t made it this far south this summer. We had a cool, sunny day. The temperature stayed in the mid 70’s and the humidity was low. By evening a light rain started. Another rare summer day, however, I wasn’t feeling well and spent the day reading and napping. Fortunately, Chef Francois made his famous chicken soup for me. (Oh, how I wish that was true.) I’ve ordered a nice cup of tea and I might sit here for a while and take another nap.

Hi Linda, we had another gorgeous morning this morning, but the smoke came in in the afternoon, and is still lingering around. I can just barely see the lake. Fortunately I got in a swim this morning. For dinner tonight I'm going to do something different and have a chicken and biscuits with a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace tonight.

Hi Zzyyggy. We had another cool, cloudy day today. The sun came out for a little bit so it warmed up to 81 degrees, but this evening the temperature is already in the 60’s. It looks like we’re going to have more of the same weather for the rest of the week, although more rain might be on the way. There’s so much hot weather in the western part of the country and it’s going to be heading our way eventually. It looks like hurricane weather is on the way in another week or two and that should bring in tropical heat and humidity for me. I’m wondering when the smoke from the wildfires will go away. Canada needs some rain to get those fires out!

Chicken and biscuits with lots of gravy is one of Sweetie’s favorite meals. I ordered some for both Sweetie and me. It’s really good with a tall frosty glass of lemonade. Most Southerners like lots of ice in their drinks and when it’s super hot and humid there’s nothing better than an ice cold drink. I ordered the lemon icebox pie for dessert tonight. Oh, the breeze out here on the terrace is so nice—just enough to cool you down without causing problems or messing up your hair.

Hi Linda, it started out real smokey this morning, and then cleared up as we got a nice breeze blowing across the lake. The air was less humid as well, and turned out to be a perfect summer's day afternoon. I sat outside and read for a bit. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, and a frosty mug of root beer. For dessert I'll have a slice of apple pie with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. I'll eat down by the pool today after taking a dip. Later we'll have a bonfire.

Hi Zzyyggy. It rained today. We got 4 inches of rain and more is on the way. I can’t complain too much because the high was 70 degrees, while most of the day the temperature stayed in the mid 60’s. We don’t get weather like this in August very often. I’ve decided to order an iced tea for now. Later we can make s’mores and I’ll make a s’mores sundae with mine. I bet rocky road ice cream would be good for that.

Hi Linda, we had another smokey day today. I did get out this morning though before the smoke rolled in, but it was really bad this afternoon. Stayed inside and read with all the windows shut, and the AC on. I see people out and about in it, but I'm just not up to it. For dinner tonight I'm going to have a plate of baked ziti with garlic bread and a salad with a coca cola. For dessert I'll have some blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace with fresh crisp tropical air, and watch the sunset. We have been getting some spatacular sunsets though

Hi Zzyyggy. I wouldn’t go out in the smoky air either. I find smoke particularly irritating. When I used to have asthma attacks smoke was the worst trigger for me. I don’t know if it would still be a problem, but I’d rather not find out. We had a cool, cloudy day with the temperature around 70 degrees and another inch of rain.

I was visiting Francois in the cybercafe’s kitchen this afternoon and he fixed me a lovely cheese plate. He let me try some of the cheeses he discovered at the local dairy farms in the northwestern valleys. He served them with his fresh artisan bread and sliced raw vegetables and a glass of wine. Apparently, there’s a few exceptional wineries nearby.

I’ll join you on the terrace. I would love a couple of scoops pistachio ice cream with fudge sauce. Not sure about the tropical air—I’m ready for a nice autumn breeze. Tropical air has always seemed more soft to me. In fact, those steamy days that are cloudy like today are what we’ve always called “soft days.” Those days were my favorite time to spend outside tending my gardens. I can’t gardening anymore. I miss it.

Hi Linda, Another day of smokey air, blah. I had PT though, indoor swimming so I got my exercise in. I'm going to the Y tomorrow for a swim so I'll get that done. For dinner tonight I would love the meatloaf platter with mashed potatoes, gravy, beans, biscuits, and a coca cola. Lots of butter for those biscuits. For dessert I'll have some Klondike bars with an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace with a nice cool breeze coming off the mountains. There are people out and about out there but I'm not about to tempt it.

Hi Zzyyggy. We had another cool misty day, but tomorrow the high will be 79. Then the highs will be in the 80’s and by next Friday the temperature will be back in the 90’s. It’s been a lovely respite. Sweetie made a pot roast this evening and served it with rice and gravy. It was delicious. Chef Francois made orange ginger cake drizzled with brown sugar icing. I ordered a slice of that with vanilla ice cream and a cup of coffee for dessert. 😋 I may have to have another piece of cake.

Hi Linda, we had another day of smokey hazy air. But a strong wind came up in the afternoon, and cleared everything out. It was gorgeous with 70 degree temps. Walked up to CVS Pharmacy and back, and sat outside to read for a bit. Now I have my windows opened enjoying the breeze. For dinner tonight I would love the grilled swordfish with baked potato, and corn on the cob. A frosty mug of root beer with that please. For dessert I'll have some warm chocolate chip cookies from the oven and an iced mocha. I'll eat down by the pool this evening and enjoy some swimming.

Hi Zzyyggy. The temperature in the Charlotte area was in the high 70’s today. It was mostly cloudy and that made it feel comfortable, even though it was pretty humid. In fact, the humidity for the next two weeks is going to be high according to our forecast. It was humid enough today that my hair was frizzy even with flat ironing and anti-fizz stuff. Yup, summer hair is baaaack.

I got my new eyeglasses today, now the other side of the room doesn’t look fuzzy anymore. 🤓😎(I got sunglasses, too.) I bought them at Costco, so while I got my glasses, Sweetie went shopping and bought a rotisserie chicken for dinner. I love adding a salad and having a meal that’s easy to fix with no cooking necessary. It will be great to go swimming in the cyberpool before dessert. Warm from the oven cookies sound wonderful and a cold iced coffee to drink would be perfect.

The cicadas have emerged and are making quite a racket. Earlier today I walked into the living room and couldn’t figure out where that noise was coming from until I opened the front door. We need some noise canceling headphones!

Hi Linda, we've entered a stretch of hazy, hot and humid weather. I was hot today but a nice breeze blew away the smoke this afternoon. Did some reading outside. For dinner tonight I would love a thick cut of grilled prime rib with baked potato and string beans. A coca cola with that please. For dessert I'll have a slice of apple pie with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. I'm going to eat down by the pool again and do a little swimming before hand. Just keep the mocha's coming Viktor.

Hi Zzyyggy. It was a nice day today—a high of 82 degrees, not too humid. Tomorrow is supposed to be the same, but more humid, maybe 70% humidity in the middle of the afternoon. That’s fairly high and Sweetie has some yard work to do tomorrow. Poor dear.

I’m going to join you for dessert. I ordered vanilla ice cream smothered with Southern fried apples. The apples aren’t fried in deep fat or anything like that. You cook them in butter in a skillet on the stovetop, then add brown sugar and cinnamon. You can add ginger and nutmeg or whatever other spices you’d want. I used to add cardamom to my apple cake, but I haven’t tried that in fried apples. It’s really just apple pie filling. I suppose a can of apple pie filling would be pretty much the same thing, only it tastes better when it’s homemade. Eons ago I canned my own pie filling. I even froze the pie filling, placing it in a ziploc bag and freezing it in a pie pan so it would be the right shape. I don’t bake much anymore with just the two of us. It used to be that we had company every weekend in the summer and I’d end up making a mess of food for friends and/or camp counselors.

Hi Linda, Another hazy, hot and humid day out there today. Some smoke in the morning but the wind blew it out. Sat outside for a bit in the afternoon but it was too hot for me. Have just been doing some reading most of the day and puttering. I'm doing a roast beef in the crock pot for dinner, but I'm not sure I want that.. For dinner here I'll have some barbecued chicken thighs with potato salad, and corn on the cob. A coca cola with that please. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies, and an iced mocha. I'll eat down by the pool again. Francois has set up the grills down there. I've never been a good pie maker. That was my sister's forte. I use to do cookies pretty good though. Living by myself though I've never been a really good baker.

Hi Zzyyggy. Viktor made sure I had plenty of Alabama sauce for my barbecued chicken 😋 . Francois made potato salad and he made three bean salad with Greek dressing, so I was thrilled. Everything was delicious tonight at the cybercafe. For dessert I think I’ll order a glass of iced tea with lots of mini scoops of lemon sorbet in it to keep the tea nice and cold.

It’s lovely out here by the pool this evening. At home it was terribly humid today. It rained late in the afternoon. We’re supposed to have scattered showers and thunderstorms Monday and Tuesday and then the temperature will be around 90 degrees for a couple of days. Even once the temperature drops back down into the mid 80’s the humidity is going to stay up over 70%.

Hi Linda, we had another hazy, hot, and humid day today. I got out for a little bit this morning, but not a whole lot. Plan to take a walk this evening after dinner. For dinner tonight I'm going for a BLT grinder no tomatoes, a bag of ruffle's potato chips and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a couple of large chocolate chip m&m cookies, and an iced mocha. I think I'll enjoy another night by the pool. Go for a swim before and after dinner. We didn't have any wild fire smoke, but it was too hot to be outside.

Hi Zzyyggy. Charlotte had cooler weather than Burlington today. 😮 We had another rainy day with almost 3 more inches of rain. So far this month we’ve had over 9 inches of rain. It was another macaroni and cheese kind of day and Chef Francois did not disappoint. This evening’s macaroni and cheese had lots of vegetables and grilled chicken in a luscious cheese sauce. It had some fancy name, but ultimately it’s still macaroni and cheese. Those M&M cookies look delicious. I ordered some for dessert, too. Viktor, my most favorite waiter in the whole world, delivered my cookies with a pot of my favorite coffee.

Hi Linda, our temps reached 93 degrees today. I got in a swim this morning but took SSTA both ways. Came home, and blasted my ac, closed the windows, and blinds, and spent the day reading. I did get the bathroom cleaned though, and changed the sheets on my bed. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the diner fried chicken with mashed potatoes, gravy, beans, dinner rolls, and a coca cola. For dessert I'll have a slice of apple pie with vanilla ice cream and an iced mocha. I'll eat down by the pool again. I like being able to go for a swim before, and after dinner. We'll have a bonfire with s'mores later, and see if we can't see the persieds meteor shower. I'm going to see if I can see some over the lake tonight because we're suppose to have clear skies.

Hi Zzyyggy. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast served with mashed potatoes, and green beans. Of course, Viktor always makes sure we have dinner rolls in our bread basket. I decided on the apple crumble instead of the pie. Maybe the crumble is sweeter? Anyway, it’s delicious with ice cream and I’ve got my coffee, so I’m happy.

Gee, Zzyyggy, the high was 85 degrees where I live near Charlotte. It was rainy in the morning and, between the 74 degree dew point and the humidity over 90% in the morning and over 75% in the afternoon, it was miserably uncomfortable outside. Wow, I just checked your weather. It says your high temperature was 96 degrees today. Fortunately, it looks like you’re getting cooler weather. There are a couple warmer days here and there, but nothing in the 90’s.

Hi Linda, We had much needed rain today off and on. When it wasn't raining I got out for a long walk running errands. For dinner tonight I would love some lasagna with garlic bread, and a salad. A coca cola with that please. For dessert I'll have some klondike bars, and an iced mocha. Had a real iced mocha this morning, though not from Starbucks. I stopped in one of our local coffee shops on my walk, and got one. It tasted good. I'll eat on the terrace tonight over looking the ocean. I like watching the whales and dolphins.

Hi Zzyyggy. We had an inch and a half of rain overnight. That brings the total amount of rain up over 11 inches in the first two weeks of August. The ground is saturated and the humidity is so high right now, plus it went up to 89 degrees today. Not including Hurricane Florence when we got 9 inches of rain in two days, this is the rainiest weather we’ve experienced in the 18 years since we’ve been here.

I’ll join you out on the terrace, Zzyyggy I ordered the lasagne dinner, too. Francois made M&M cookie ice cream sandwiches. I requested coffee ice cream in mine. I thought that would pair well with the iced mocha I ordered. It’s a lovely evening and we should have a good view of the sky from the terrace later tonight.

Hi Linda we had a perfect Summer's day today. Temps in the low 70s, no humidity, and no smoke. We did have some humidity in the morning, but it cleared out. Got in a swim this morning, and walked home. Have been reading, and puttering around ever since. Did get some reading outside. For dinner tonight I'm going to have the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, and a frosty mug of root beer. For dessert I'll have some chocolate chip cookies, and an iced mocha. I'll eat out on the terrace again. We'll have another bonfire, and s'mores when it gets dark.

Hi Zzyyggy. The sun is shining at the moment, which is probably the best part of the day if you ignore the 81% humidity. It is cooler now at 79 degrees because it rained over an inch and the temperature dropped 10 degrees. With the dew point over 75 degrees it’s an “air you can wear” kind of day. The very best thing about the weather is the air quality index is 20. Yeah. Whatever would I do without central air conditioning and the cybercafe?

Sweetie decided he had to go to the store. He tends to go shopping whenever he gets bored. Unfortunately, he only buys what’s on the list or things he deems healthy. It would be nice if he’d stop at the local steakhouse and buy dinner. Well . . . I texted him and asked him if he would buy dinner and he said yes. I’m stunned. Delighted. Amazed. Now all I need to do is order dessert at the cybercafe! I’m still craving M&M cookies, but instead of an ice cream sandwich like last night’s order, I’m going to order an ice cream sundae with coffee ice cream and hot fudge sauce served with my M&M cookies. 🍪 😋🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪🍪😋

Viktor, I’d like one of those iced mocha, too, please!
