I had a great strength workout last night and finished off with yoga. I almost did not do it. I had a dentist appointment after work followed by a late dinner, and then the sofa caught me in its tractor beam. I had fun with it once I broke free from the sofa.
The only problem with a late workout is that I end up with the zoomies and have trouble getting to sleep. Off to work I go. Have a great day, everyone.

Keep up with your beans and rice concoction. Lots of fibre and vitamins in that. Of course, like anything, just be mindful of the measurements. Beans are kind of high in calorie, as is rice if it is in a bigger quantity. Like everything, it takes a few days to show up on the scale or the TMI. Glad that you are now able to eat peppers and onions, they really add such great flavour to things. There are a myriad of spices and herbs that go well with beans and rice too.

Hi : - )
I am Dawn. I will turn 65 this round. I have changed my eating habits over time. I basically eat half of the amount that I used to, and have limited eating Ribs to once every 3 months instead of once per week.
Day 01—08/23— 137.8 - Split shifts today and tomorrow, and lots to do in the garden on my breaks. As usual, happy to see y'all each morning. Some of us have been doing this post for years! Accountability and familiarity.
Day 02—08/24— 139.8 - Really? A 2 pound gain overnight? Argh. Typical for me though. Banner day, no reason for such a gain. If I have an indulgent day I am okay with a gain, but I didn't. Maybe just "transit" lol.
Day 03—08/25— 139.8 - Okay, that one I deserved because I had 2 cocktails after work last night. I used to be on a forum to drink less alcohol. I ran out of time for other forums besides this one, so I stopped that, the 10 day challenge, the monthly challenge etc. My aim when I was on the less alcohol was 16 AF (alcohol free) days per month. I still hit that. I am not giving up alcohol or smoking, not interested. I really overheated during my break from my split shift yesterday. My break comes at the hottest part of the day, 3-5pm. Tomorrow I have a friend coming at noon for Mojitos and a visit, so definitely I will be AF today.
Day 04—08/26— 139.8 - I'm not sure if I have ever had the same weight 3 days in a row. It is a very nice day here so far, blue sky, no clouds, no wind. It is supposed to get hot again. Yesterday I finally got into my little pool after work, which has been set up and filled for at least a month but I didn't have time. I weeded the potato garden, got really hot, took the cover off of it and got in. So nice : - ) Yes, I could have overheated more and cut the grass, but enough is enough some days lol. There were lots of wasps flying around me, they need to learn my smell and co-exist. They are great for pollinating peppers, tomatoes, and other things.

@dawnbgethealthy Oops! I gave the rest (a lot!) of the beans and rice to my foodie daughter who eats ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING including healthy foods. After it stopped me from going to the bathroom until the 5th day, it actually scared me. I was eating it as the main dish, the sole dish. So perhaps I was eating too much? To give you a visual, I piled it on my plate like you would spaghetti or any main dish pasta in general. I didn't plan on making it again but I think, after your comment, I may make it in the future but use it as a side dish eating perhaps 1/2 to 1 cup. I'll let my body rest and adjust and give it another go. It does help me to get in some veggies I definitely never eat.

Thoughts at the start of this round:
This round will be challenging as it includes the U.S. holidays of Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving. All are big foodie or party and dessert type holidays in the U.S. There are also multiple birthday celebrations in my family. In addition, there will be a lot of travel which is traditional in the fall for me as I try to avoid as many icy driving trips as possible in the winter months. There will be lots of doctor appointments away from home as well as Christmas and gift-giving shopping in this round. I will have to make sure I stay on top of my plan in every moment I can and to make the necessary corrections every time the scale goes up. Portion control will be key when away from home. I will again aim for a 10 pound loss this round. Thanks for sharing your journey with me and allowing me to share mine. I am grateful for you all.

Day 03—08/25--183.8 ✅ (Trend Weight: 185.0) Finally the TMI and the whoosh I’ve been waiting for. Nearly 4 lbs gone overnight. I’m still up 2 lbs from my lowest weight 2 weeks ago, but where I’ve landed now is probably pretty accurate to where I am at. I only slept 3.5 hours last night. It’s going to be a long and tiring day. Double doctor appointments today (for me and son). Lunch will be out. I will try to be very careful not to be stupid and blow my progress! It will be chilly but sunny here today in Northern Michigan. Pants in August? Wow!
⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️Day 04—08/26— My son & I had our semi-local doctor appts yesterday for our diabetes check ups. My last appt was 4 months ago in April. I was down 10 pounds yesterday from that last appointment and my glucose dropped from 8 point something to 6.4. My doctor was very impressed with the progress. I always take my son out after appointments for a meal so we headed a bit north to a restaurant we hadn’t been at in about 4 or 5 years. It was just “okay” and I did a pretty good job of ordering and not finishing. However, I tried to make up for the out-of-plan food and had too light of a dinner later Almost anything would have put me over on calories but especially carbs. Bad mistake. I ended up eating too much later last night AFTER my light dinner. Next time I should just “go over” wisely and with healthier foods if I can’t stay inside the perimeters on a restaurant day. I just can’t expect that I can skip a meal or eat the toothpick and not the food and be okay. Especially as a diabetic. Lesson learned. I’ll probably be going out-of-town tomorrow to see my accountant that moved quite far. She’s on Lake Huron so lunch by the Lake would be lovely. I won’t skip dinner later!

Hi All,
I'm late to the party but I hope it's ok if I jump in! I'm Jenny, 60 years old, 5’6” and hit my goal weight in Feb. 2024 with the help of this group - maintained for 8 months and then just hit a really stressful stretch of life with toxic work situations, long hours and the stress of building a new home in DE and selling our old home in NY. It's like I defiantly watched myself start binge eating, drinking more alcohol and gaining almost every pound back. So here I am again - finally settled in the new house and doing what worked for me the first time - daily weighing, IF, logging and exercise. I’m also adding Noom to the mix to help me find better ways of coping with stress. My goal for this challenge is to simply keep with it – even after a slip. I can do this – I’ve done it before, I can do it again!
Day 04—08/26: 225.0 – It’s never pretty to step on the scale after a weekend away, but the jump scare is necessary! Did a cardio/weights workout and had a good day getting back OP.
Day 05—08/27: 219.6 – A pretty massive water whoosh for one day! Took a nice 30 min walk around the new neighborhood with DH, who is now doing food prep for us as we speak. Our main impetus for moving was to get him out of his toxic job, so now that he has more free time he has taken over all the household stuff, even the cooking which he had never done before…I wrote down instructions and turns he is actually really good at it! His cooking is actually better than mine, and takes a huge burden off my plate! So hopefully life will be less stressful for us both.

⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️Day 05—08/27—185.6 ❌ (Trend Weight: 185.1) Well, there’s another 0.6 unexplained lbs that don’t make any sense. Put those with the 3 lbs of unexplained weight last week and I feel like I’m in a sinking ship. 1223 calories and 79 Total Carbs (not net) yesterday so again, it makes no sense since those are well within my budget of 1400 cals and 88 carbs. All upticks over the 3.6 are travel weight and do make sense. But that explains only 1 point something travel pounds onto my original lowest of 181.8. Humph! My exercise yesterday was excellent too. I swear, nothing seems to be helping! Today I travel over to the Lake Huron area for an accountant appointment so lunch will be at a restaurant. The drive is a couple of hours each way. I will also get some shopping in while there so I can avoid another trip out-of-town for food. So an uptick tomorrow is expected from food and so much sitting today. I,just was not expecting today’s gain! Disappointing but I’ll still just hang in there and trust the process.

@deepwoodslady Don't fret it, it can take up to 10 days for water and food to enter and clear your system! Just keep tracking the trend, don't let a couple weigh in get you down! Just refocus and know things will not always go as planned. I know I have had jumps of 2-3 lbs that take a week to clear. Your body is complex, just keep logging and eating under and sooner than later that weight will clear! You have this! Don't stress too much, because stress can make you eat more and hold onto to water! Which will create a spiral in the wrong direction! You got this!
6 -
@jennysweet58 Welcome aboard! Enjoy and keep logging and weighing!
6 -
@deepwoodslady I'd also take a look at your sodium and water intake. Restaurant food tends to have a lot of salt and will increase your water retention. Make sure you are hydrating and remember that your calorie intake says this isn't true weight gain.

Day 03—08/25—145.0 I’ve been in bed the past 2 days with flu-like symptoms, eating only sporadically. I’m pretty sure that’s what led to this almost 2 lb drop since Friday, and I’m not mad about it! Looking forward to getting outside with Kaya for a walk today. I really need some sun after being cooped up.

Good EEEEVENING.…
Day 01—08/23— 162.6 - Had a busy day yesterday. I got my new ebike! Although most of it was already assembled, I did need help putting on the front wheel. Took time to figure out all the different latches used to fold it up. Its not light ....about 55 pounds but I can lift it into the back of my SUV where I will keep it. Its VERY fast....at least for this 71 year old....so I have to get used to the throttle. But it's going to be a lot of fun.
I had a couple ears of corn for lunch....couldn't resist the last gasp, end of the season fresh corn. Dinner will be salad. Snack will be strawberries.
Day 02—08/24— 163.6 - Finished off the corn for lunch and had a little pasta salad. That's the carbs for the day. I'll have a green salad for dinner.
A friend of mine in Canada sent me a check for my vet bill....I am so appreciative. Still have a long way to go, though.
Day 03—08/25— 163.8 - I finished off leftover lasagna. Interesting that pasta doesn't affect my blood sugar like corn does. I approve. 🙂
Gonna get out for a little while on the ebike.…practice getting used to it. Riding an ebike is not like riding an analog bike.
Day 04—08/26— 164
Day 05—08/27— 163.8 - Forgot to post yesterday, but did weigh myself. Today I had my follow up appointment with my hand surgeon. He cut a scab off my wound (ick) and told me not to let it dry out....keep putting the antibiotic on it and bandage it. Two more weeks. But I am allowed to swim....I just have to redress the wound after I am done. I can't wait till this thing is finally healed.
I had a craving for fried chicken today, so on the way home I got some. Craving gone....and I move on.

Day 02—08/24— 346 Worked last night and I know I could have done better on my water intake.
Day 03—08/25—344 I had chiropractic and massage today so I'm feeling pretty good. Tried a new salmon recipe for dinner that was very tasty.
Day 04—08/26—343 Feeling pretty good about this start. I'll be working the next 4 nights so hopefully I can keep the trend going.
Day 05—08/27—341.4 my shift tonight got canceled so I have some unexpected free time. I'm surprised by the steady downward trend in weight but I guess the focus on logging food is paying off.

Hi All,
I'm Jenny, 60 years old, 5’6” and hit my goal weight in Feb.
Day 06—08/28: 219.6 – A good OP day yesterday, a nice cardio/weights workout and a stretch this morning. Day 3 OP always results in the same thought for me – this isn’t so hard, why do I let myself crash for so long??

Day 04—08/26— 185.0 ❌ (Trend Weight: 185.0)
Day 05—08/27—185.6 ❌ (Trend Weight: 185.1) Well, there’s another 0.6 unexplained lbs that don’t make any sense.
⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️⚓️Day 06—08/28—185.6 〰️ (Trend Weight: 185.3) Thai food yesterday out-of-town, and this after another unexplained bump up from day before! I haven’t had Thai in a couple of years as there is no Thai restaurant around me or in most of the cities I visit. I have thick ankles and hands today along with swollen tummy as I don’t drain well with this heart condition. I’ve decided not to weigh today and just use yesterdays disappointing weight because I am sure I am temporarily bloated. I just need to release this fluid and see where I really stand!

Hi : - )
Day 05—08/27— 141.0 - Didn't find time to post. Not happy to be back in the 140s, that is for sure.
Day 06—08/28— 141.2 - My body is really holding on to "stuff". Scrambling to get so much done in the yard before I go away, always at the hottest time of the day. I didn't try to pick up extra shifts this week since I am on 13 without a day off and have too much to do in the garden. Yes, I did submerge myself in my little pool when I overheated yesterday : - )
I tried the new MFP Food diary, and it asked for feedback. I gave it. The end of the day is no longer in colour and laid out with the pie chart etc, the "in the green" is no longer vibrant. I did ask why we have been plunged back into 1987 with this RTF, and did mention that we of a certain age did in fact enjoy that 38 years ago, but couldn't understand why with all of the more modern technology that we have to suffer with this "new" format. Do they make changes just for the sake of making changes or do they want us to find a more modern system elsewhere? I did leave Sparkpeople because at that time MFP was better, but it no longer is.
