@its_cleo I hope you had fun at the festival and the rain didn’t deter you. It’s always tough to make plans around work. @trooworld Yes, my son and daughter really like their pop stars. They have tickets to see Lady Gaga in March. Taylor Swift has a new album out in October and it’s a big deal to them. I try to keep up so I know what they are talking about. I used to make egg roll in a bowl, but my husband doesn’t like it and I have to make something different for him. Hi, all. It’s a nice day today so I went for a walk after I went grocery shopping. Tonight I’m making spaghetti and meat sauce plus a salad. We haven’t eaten salad lately and I miss it. Our son-in- law is coming over.

@trooworld Yes, my husband is picky but he has improved and eats more foods outside his comfort zone. He doesn’t like ginger but will eat a dish with it as long as it is not too much. When we prepared an Asian salad we gave him ranch dressing for his salad. A lot of times we’ll give him leftovers or prepare something else if it’s not too much trouble. That’s too bad about your car but good that you were not on the highway. We also have AAA and have had to use it a few times. Hi, all. I’m going for a walk in a bit. Tonight I’m preparing ATK’s Slow Cooker Farmhouse Chicken for dinner. I’m going to improvise as I need 3 carrots and I only have 1. I’m going to add some celery and onions. My son would not approve but he won’t be home when I put everything in the slow cooker. And he’ll be glad that he doesn’t have to cook. My son and daughter are coming home today.

@trooworld Good job on the gym and rearranging your workout. That was a scare with the key fob. I pay for my children’s AAA. I started when they were younger and kept it up. I figure it’s for my peace of mind. Your measurements are great. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. It’s cool and windy today. I’m sitting wrapped up in a blanket. Tonight we are having pizzas again. DS is making them.

@trooworld That’s too bad that your husband is sick. I hope you don’t get what he has. The recipe sounds good. Easy is always good! Hi, all. Today we had a lot of rain and wind. I was able to go grocery shopping in the morning before it got too bad. A lot of roads in the area were flooded and we were under a weather advisory. I rode my bike when I got home. My son made a beef and ramen soup for dinner. It was good on a rainy night. My daughter and her family didn’t come over as her husband and daughter were sick, plus the roads were hard to navigate.

@trooworld I’m glad your husband is better. The chicken parm sounds good. Hi, all. We got 7.5 inches of rain yesterday. Luckily the rain is gone and it’s just cloudy now. We were supposed to go to the cottage today but decided to wait until tomorrow. Today is a swim day. My son is making chicken and rice for dinner tonight, another comfort food for fall. We should have leftovers we can take for dinner at the cottage.

@trooworld That’s too bad about the migraine and insomnia. Hopefully you will sleep better tonight. I’m glad the curry was good. The chicken and rice recipe my son made was similar to the chicken bog minus the sausage. In the comments in the ATK recipe several people compared it to a chicken bog. Where in NC did your parents move to? Hi, all. We didn’t get to go swimming yesterday as the pool was closed and needed more chlorine. We didn’t want to wait so we went upstairs and worked out on the recumbent elliptical. The weather is sunny and nice and I will walk the track at the park when we get to the cottage.

@trooworld The coffee drink sounded heavenly and deadly! I don’t blame you for throwing it out. As you know, my downfall is dessert my son makes. That’s a good idea to go to the gym before it gets too hot. That’s interesting that you Mr parents lived near Myrtle Beach. I lived in north east NC and had never heard of the chicken bog. Hi, all. I went for a walk and it was hot. Unfortunately there’s no shade at the track. Now I’m cooling off with some flavored seltzer.

@trooworld Wow, the 90’s! I think we are finished with extreme hot weather. The trade off is in January and February when we have extreme cold weather. Good job on the gym and getting your routine done while the gym was crowded. Your dinner sounded good. Sorry about the migraine. I hope you have fun at the street fair. Hi, all. I’m home now. I went for a walk around the block with my husband and then did a workout on the bike. We are going out to eat at our favorite Italian restaurant. I’m getting my usual manicotti. It’s something that I wouldn’t make at home.

@trooworld Nice pic of the band! You really had an eventful day. That’s a good idea to take the bread to work so you can enjoy it but it won’t be home to tempt you. Happy birthday a few days early! Hi, all. My son left to go to London this morning so my DH and I are home alone. I rode my bike today as I have been walking a lot and needed a break from it. We ate dinner at our daughter’s house tonight. She had salad and split pea soup. DS doesn’t like split pea soup so she made it. I am going to make simple, uncomplicated meals while DS is gone.

@trooworld I love steel cut oats. I make a baked oatmeal with it that is really good. When it’s hot, a cloudy day is nice. 400 calories sounds right for the bread. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We had pizza for dinner tonight. A week ago I had some Greek yogurt that was about to go bad, so I made 8 servings of the pizza dough and froze it.

Hi all! Somewhat new to MyFitnessPal, but an old weight watchers until they cancelled my meetings for the 2nd time 😕 and started pushing weight loss drugs.

I try to walk or workout for 30 minutes daily as rehab for a new hip. This app seems really good for counting calories and reminding me to drink water.

@rosenberrypam Welcome to our group! I also joined MFP because the meeting is too far to drive to.

@trooworld That was a good idea to leave the bread at work. Good job on only eating one slice. I love Greek food. Good idea to save some for lunch. Hi, all. It’s a little warmer today so I’m going to walk after I finish my coffee. I need to go to a different grocery store to get the bread I like. Tonight and tomorrow night we are going to my cousin’s house for holiday meals (Rosh Hashanah). There will be a lot of foods we only eat at the holidays so my plan is to only eat a small portion of everything. I’ll try not to overdo the desserts.

@trooworld No, we didn’t have kugel. But we did have brisket, chicken, sweet potato pudding, green beans, cabbage, challah, apple cake, honey cake, and ice cream. So a lot of food and I had to have discipline to eat small portions! Good job on not eating the bread. The lavash pizza sounded good. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. It was too hot to sit outside. We have one more day of hot weather and then we have most days in the 70’s. Tonight we are going to my cousin’s house to eat leftovers. Tomorrow I will be back at my regular eating routine.

@trooworld Good job on eating the bread and tracking it. Sometimes you just have to indulge. Leftovers are always good. Hi, all. I felt sluggish today and had a bit of stomach upset after eating two heavy dinners this week. I wasn’t as hungry as I usually am so I ate less. Dinner was a hot dog with chili for DH and a chicken sausage for me, plus roasted potatoes with onions and red peppers. That wouldn’t have been enough for DS but plenty for us. I walked around the neighborhood today even though it was hot. Tomorrow is supposed to be 82 and then the next few days should be in the 70’s.

    fabgeekmom Posts: 1,019 Member

@trooworld No, I’m not getting sick. I think I had a food hangover from 2 nights of heavy meals. I never sleep well after eating all that food. I tried not to overeat but still ate more than I usually do. Happy birthday! I hope you enjoy your day with the gym, relaxing at a coffee shop and crafting. Good job on the weight loss. Hi, all. Today is a swim day. The high today is 82 which isn’t as hot as yesterday. Today should be our last day in the 80’s for at least the following week. I’m not sure what is for dinner.

Hello all. I’m back from my mini vacation. My niece came to see us from Arizona and we took her to Wisconsin Dells. We spent lots of time walking I definitely got in my steps. Food wise I didn’t do too bad. My strategy was to eat half of everything and I weighed today and weighed what I weighed on Saturday so that’s a win for me.

I’m done with my exercise for the day I went to the gym and did treadmill for 30 minutes then later took a walk for 47 minutes.

Planned dinner is salad with some chicken on top

    Happy birthday @trooworld

@theslightestedgeforever That was a good idea to eat half of what was served. That really takes discipline. That’s good that you weighted the same. Good job on the exercise. @trooworld I’m never brave enough to get 2 vaccines. I need to get a flu shot. Your birthday celebration sounds like fun. I hope you enjoyed your meal. Hi, all. I feel a lot better today. It just shows me that eating too much, especially heavy foods, makes me feel bad. I went walking this morning. It was a little cooler but still humid. We ate at a Mediterranean restaurant. I ordered cauliflower cheese soup and a falafel wrap. I only ate half of the wrap so I have lunch for tomorrow. I brought home the hummus that came with the meal. I have carrots to go with it.

@trooworld That’s too bad that you got sick. Do we never learn? I try to remember the last time I overate and how bad I felt, but holidays and special occasions are hard. Hi, all. It’s cooler and more fall like. We had a lot of rain yesterday that caused it to be cooler. I went for a walk this morning and talked to my cousin while I walked. We ate dinner at our daughter’s house and had salad and Skinnytaste chicken and noodle soup.

@trooworld my arms are always sore after a shot. Your meals sound good. I may come over to your house. lol. I want some chili but still too hot here

@fabgeekmom your soup sounded really good. I’m still waiting on the leaves to turn here. Cooler weather too. But I’m headed to Iowa on Wednesday for a week to see my son and it’s still in the 80s there 🫤

Exercise has still been good. Today is a rest day. On my mini vacation we picked apples at an orchard. I made some apple crisp tonight. Measured it all out and logged. Still was within my limits since I ate a salad for lunch

    onto tomorrow

@theslightedgeforever Good job on exercise and staying within your limits while enjoying a treat. @trooworld Chili sounds good. I remember not liking staff development when I was working. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. It’s cloudy and dreary but at least it’s not hot. I’m making two ingredient pizza tonight. That seems to be our Monday meal.

@trooworld I love an empty gym. Plus I like halloumi. Never heard of bread cheese. What are you reading these days?

@fabgeekmom chili does sound good. My son is going to make pumpkin chili on Wednesday. Never had that before. We had all the cloudy dreary days last week.

Today I went about 12:30 to the gym and just me. I did my cardio on the treadmill with some mobility work and then later walked up to the coffee shop and back. I’m up to 3 hills on my walking plan so I finished that when I was done. At least it adds minutes to my walking time.
Calories were under today. I stopped at one bite of apple crisp

@theslightestedgeforever Good job on the gym. Amazing that you only had one bite of the apple crisp! I’m making pumpkin chili tonight. @trooworld I always said that when we had staff development it was because the instructors had to justify their jobs! That’s an amazing transformation! Hi, all. I went for a walk this morning. The weather is nice. We had a little sun but still mostly cloudy. My hairdresser came to the house and I got my hair cut and dyed. Yesterday at the pool a woman asked me how long I have been swimming and how old was I. When I told her 74, she said she was inspired to do the exercise. I told her she made my day. Tonight I am making Skinnytaste turkey white bean chili. I have made it before and I couldn’t taste the pumpkin. It’s something that my son doesn’t like (probably because it’s not from America’s Test Kitchen).

@trooworld That is an interesting observation about “free” food. Perhaps next time ask yourself if the food is homemade, to die for, or just something store bought. Hi, all. Today is a swim day. The chili last night was good and my son-in- law commented that there weren’t as many dishes to wash as when my son cooks. We’re eating the chili again tonight so I don’t have to cook. As @trooworld mentioned, the chili should be better tonight.

I started an account here years ago and dropped it. Went to WW about 2 years ago, lost around 50 pounds but just basically stayed stable for the last 18 months or so. So I'm back here now, know that no weight loss happens without calorie deficit. WW actually turned out to be too restricting (cheese and butter are around 11/ per ounce or tbsp and they were prohibitive points on WW. So I'm counting calories again here, because there's no cheating with free foods etc. MORE THAN ANYTHING (well almost more) I am typing on my laptop right now which is SO much easier. If I'm out of course I'll use my phone, but geeze.. I am really happy to be typing again and the site is user friendly. I'll likely be switching over to premium shortly, but it's barely 2 weeks that I'm here.

@trooworld Good job on tracking the doughnuts. And only eating three. Leftovers are always good. @SRQJoan Welcome to our group! I agree that counting calories is easier than counting points. And 0 point foods have calories. Hi, all. This morning DH and I are getting flu shots and then going to Sam’s Club. I’ll go walking after lunch. It’s cooler today but sunny. I’m making Skinnytaste spaghetti and meat sauce for dinner. We were supposed to go to my cousin’s house for a holiday dinner but her husband and her friend both have colds. She said she’s going to save some of the food for me. I have leftover chili that I’m going to freeze for a later trip to the cottage.

@trooworld your books look good. I’m currently reading this. Zeal by Morgan Jenkins

I would have enjoyed the sessions on growth and mindset. But then I like stuff like that. I participate in free webinars like that

you really have done an amazing job on your weight loss journey. It’s nice to be able to have those pics for comparison.

@fabgeekmom The pumpkin chili was good. I couldn’t taste the pumpkin either. It was a bit spicy though. I’m having the leftovers for lunch. You all said it would be better today I hope it’s not hotter. lol. At least it went towards my veggie servings. I struggle with those.

@SRQJoan Welcome to the group. Yes you are right on the calorie deficit. Sounds like you have done a good job with weight loss in the past.

So I’m now at my son’s house for a week I will do body weight exercises since I don’t have access to a gym I’ll continue my treadmill and walking plans though

  • fabgeekmom
    fabgeekmom Posts: 1,019 Member

@theslightedgeforever The recipe I used was not spicy. You could add some low fat sour cream or Greek yogurt to tame the spice. Good job on having an exercise plan while visiting your son.

@trooworld Chiki cheese fries sound good. I’ll have to remember that with the chili I have in the freezer. Good job with the weight loss. It’s better to lose a little and still be able to eat the foods you like. Hi, all. Yesterday Sam’s Club was annoying. First I couldn’t scan the diclofenic and had to go to self checkout after I had scanned my whole order. Then the diclofenic wouldn’t scan and then I had to wait for help. The icing on the cake is when I left the store I found out that one of my items hadn’t scanned and I had to scan it before I left! Dinner was good last night and we’re having leftovers tonight. My son came home from London last night and I was glad to see him. He brought back some good chocolate which I will enjoy in moderation. He also brought some tea and coffee. Today was a swim day. My cousin brought us some bagels, lox, and kugel which we’ll eat for lunch tomorrow.

@trooworld That’s too bad you have a headache. Good move skipping the gym. That was nice that you saw your SIL and spent time with her. You have a lot going on today. I hope you have fun. Hi, all. I went for a walk this morning and it was nice outside. Our lunch was good. My son is making curried chicken on the grill with rice. I am making a salad and I made homemade salad dressing.
