@trooworld Good job on the weight loss and the gym, especially since you had a headache and worked out anyway. The scale sounds interesting but would make me crazy. I hope you find what you want at the yard sale. @theslightedgeforever There are a variety of instructions on the app: sometimes the instructions are to go by an exertion scale, other times to walk or run faster, etc. I just do what I can and enjoy the music and listening to the instructors talking. I have walked around the gym when I couldn’t get a machine. There’s nothing wrong with that. I know you enjoyed talking to your son and his wife. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. The weather is still nice and I am sitting under the umbrella on the front porch. For dinner we are having NC vinegar barbecue ( a pork butt slow cooking in vinegar, salt and red pepper flakes), coleslaw, a vegetarian stew, and cornbread. We’ll have leftovers to freeze for dinner one night next week.

@fabgeekmom Your dinner sounded really good. Sitting under an umbrella sounds so relaxing. I hope you enjoyed your swim.

@trooworld Probably could do a bike but my thighs just burn and I'm ready to get off after 2 min. lol We have a 20 min max on treadmills when it's busy. I like that push pull legs plan. My current strength training plan is 3 days a week. A=Chest/Back Shoulders B= Legs, Biceps, Triceps So it goes ABA one week and then BAB then next. I throw some ab work in there occasionally. Not very often. I should do more but……

Biggest Loser comments: I know it's easy to gain weight back but I wonder how do you let yourself gain all the way back to major obesity like Danny did. I've gained back 40 since covid. So I'm pointing fingers at myself also. I know people will easily gain 20-25 pounds back when they return home because of environment and real life. They are no longer working out til they puke and for 6-8 hrs a day nor eating such low calories. It was still a motivational program for me. People knew what they were signing up for after Season 1. There were three agendas happening in the show. 1) Trainers-weight loss via diet/exercise 2)Doctor-Health 3)Producers-Money and entertainment.

@trooworld That’s an impressive exercise routine. You are smart to use technology to help you out. I haven’t eaten at Panera in a while but I always enjoyed their salads. I don’t eat there that often so when I do, I always eat the baguette. The recipe you mentioned sounds good. I’m not a fan of horror movies so I get it that you didn’t want to finish the movie. @theslightestedgeforever Good job on the strength workouts. Hi,all. I went for a walk and rode my recumbent bike this morning. We’re eating at our daughters’s house tonight. She’s preparing a turkey sausage, broccoli and gnocchi sheet pan meal. I don’t watch the Biggest Loser as I think the whole situation is unrealistic. Something like that doesn’t motivate me.

@fabgeekmom My favorite at Panera is a cup of tomato basil soup and a half turkey sandwich. For breakfast I like their cheese and egg on an Asiago bagel. The Biggest loser thing I mentioned wasn't the show itself but the documentary aftermath of what went on. 3 episodes. I was always motivated by the transformations of the original show. I think my favorite challenge in the shows was where they would have to walk and hike a trail at the beginning when they arrived. Then after they had lost a considerable amount of weight, they would take them back to the same trail and using a weighted vest put on the same amount they had lost to demonstrate how heavier and harder it used to be holding on to that weight. Then at certain intervals, they would take off the lbs lost out of the vest so by the end it's much easier walking.

@trooworld I don't think there was any intensity on the bike. I have the same problems with an elliptical. About 2-3 min in my legs are screaming Get off Get off. Probably the muscles used are not as strong as they should be. I have no problem with a treadmill either speed or inclines. I've never rollerbladed but I used to be able to roller skate. Always so much fun although now I think if I fell I just might break something. I hope you have lots of fun out there.

Yesterday I did mall walking for 27 min and then later walked for 22 min on the treadmill. I stayed within my food boundaries and drank all my water.

@trooworld That’s so true about food addiction. Unfortunately food tastes so good that it’s hard to limit portions, especially sweets . We are fortunate in that we are working toward controlling that addiction. I’m excited for you about the roller blades. Even when I was able. I was too uncoordinated to do anything like that. The weather here is nice. The highs have been from the low 80’s to the high 70’s. @theslightedgeforever Those meals at Panera sound good. Good job on the mall walking and gym, food boundaries and water. Hi, all. Today is a swim day. Dinner tonight is grilled chicken and pasta with pesto sauce that DS made last week. We have a lot of basil that we need to use up before it gets cold. I have a winter squash from the garden that I am going to cook. I’m not sure what it is as it came from a volunteer plant.

@trooworld Have you been able to rollerblade yet? Your food sounds good. How was your dinner? I copied you and had AI make me a new push pull legs program for when I'm at my dd's house. I also made out a cardio program. I'm just telling myself take day by day

@fabgeekmom I'm so glad fall is around the corner. Of course that means pumpkin everything. My goal one day is to learn to enjoy swimming. I know it's good exercise and good for the joints.

Yesterday nothing was accomplished regarding fitness. I went to a friend's house for breakfast. I passed up the cookies and the chocolate she offered me. Picked up some groceries and that was about it for me other than packing for my trip and doing last minute cleaning.

Today I'm going to try a step video a friend sent me.

@trooworld Your salad sounds good. If it was an ATK recipe I can understand it was labor intensive. I hope you enjoy your lunch with your friend. @theslightestedgeforever Yes, swimming is good for the joints. I can earn more calories with less effort by swimming. I can only do it 3 times a week to prevent overuse of my muscles. Good job on passing over desserts at your friend’s house. The exercise program sounds doable. Hi, all. We had tacos last night and will eat leftovers tonight. I didn’t eat dessert as I was satisfied from my dinner (Who am I!). I have so many special meals and holidays coming up. Sunday we do the end of summer meal and DS is making an ice cream roll. Later in September there are 2 Jewish holidays and special meals at my cousin’s house. My goals are to eat one serving of special foods. I have already started that as DS made banana bread one day and cornbread the next. When I was on WW we talked about learning from experience. Today is a swim day.

@trooworld That’s too bad about the traffic and your knee pads. I’m glad you had a good visit with your friend. It’s always good to have leftovers. Hi, all. I had my annual eye exam this morning. My vision had changed a little bit but not enough to get new glasses. I’m overjoyed as even with insurance glasses are expensive. Afterwards DH and I went to Sam’s Club and stocked up. Hopefully we won’t have to go any time soon. Dinner was leftover stew and barbecue that was in the freezer. DS made some coleslaw that was good.

@trooworld That was funny about the work event. You are smart to practice falling down. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We are having steaks for dinner. I forgot to buy potatoes so we are having frozen French fries prepared in the air fryer. We also have coleslaw from yesterday. DS is making Taylor Swift Chai cookies. I skipped a snack this afternoon so I can eat a cookie. He’s taking the rest to work tomorrow. I went grocery shopping to get what we need for tomorrow and Sunday. I had to go to Sam’s Club as the grocery store didn’t have a large salmon filet. DS is grilling salmon tomorrow and Sunday we are having hotdogs, hamburgers, etc.

@trooworld Nice pic! You look great! I had to laugh at your making sure you were not rolling around when the trolley came by. Good idea to practice falling down on the grass. Good job on the gym, especially since there is no AC. Hi, all. I went for a walk after breakfast. We still are having highs in the upper 70’s. DS cooked salmon tomorrow, rice and green beans for dinner. He tried a salmon tandoori recipe that was different and good. It was nice having a healthy meal.

@trooworld Good job on the gym and skating. You rock! The shadow picture was really cool. Hi, all. I went for a walk this morning and it was nice. My cousin called me and I talked to her until I got home. We are having our family end of summer meal tonight. My plan is to eat one serving of everything and to enjoy the company.

@trooworld Wow, you got a lot of activity yesterday! Since you had your surgery and lost weight you have had so much energy. The neighborhood sounds really interesting. I liked the picture. Hi, all. Today was another nice day so I went for a walk and sat outside this afternoon. We are having leftovers tonight. We are saving the rest of the dessert for tomorrow night when my daughter and her family comes over. We are leaving for the cottage on Wednesday so if there is any left, we can’t take it with us as it is an ice cream roll. And that is a good thing!

@trooworld Walking near water is so relaxing. It’s interesting to see what other people are doing. I remember Little Italy and how much fun it was to walk around. The cupcake vending machine was cool. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. DS is grilling chicken for family dinner. I need to go grocery shopping to get stuff for our trip.

@trooworld The twice baked potatoes sounded good. The costume sounds like fun. Hi, all. Dinner was good last night. We ate some of the ice cream roll. I ate too much as it was so good! There’s a little leftover. I was hoping it would be all gone. I need to get stricter on what I eat and don’t eat. We’re getting ready to go to the cottage. I’m bringing some spaghetti and meat sauce I made a few weeks ago for dinner tonight. I also got the makings for a salad. Tomorrow night we’ll eat leftovers from last night. The weather is nice so I can walk around the track at the park.

i’m here at my now in Minnesota. We spent four days in Chicago. I took the architectural tour on the Chicago I’ve always wanted to do that and just kept putting it off, but it was very nice.

@trooworld I see you finally skated good for you and 40 minutes is a lot. Probably didn’t even feel that way. Sorry to hear your knee is acting up again. Your body is saying hey hey what’s all this activity but you keep it up because your energy levels are high.

@fabgeekmom I love walking around also I’m an Aquarius so maybe that’s natural. I’m so glad the weather is getting nicer. I have been walking last couple of days. In fact my glutes are hurting just a bit this morning but that just means what I’m doing is working

Today, I’m gonna go out for a short recovery walk and then later I’m gonna hit the some strength training exercises

@trooworld September here is cooling down a bit, still hot but less humid and lower temperatures. July and August were our hottest months. Leftovers are always good. @theslightedgeforever That sounds like a fun trip. My idea of vacation is touring and learning new things. Good job on walking. Hi, all. I walked around the track today. It was a little hot but not unbearable. We’re eating leftovers from Tuesday when my son cooked. My husband got a lot of work done on the cottage. That’s his idea of a vacation, a working vacation. And there’s not that much to do here as we’ve done all the tourist stuff years ago.

  • theslightedgeforever
    theslightedgeforever Posts: 2,485 Member

@fabgeekmom that’s good that around the track even though it was a little bit hot. What kind of new things do you like to learn about?

@trooworld it’s funny how you mentioned everybody has a different idea of vacations. when my husband would think of retirement all of the things on the to do list he would say OK when I’m retired I’m gonna do this. now that he is retired He says I don’t wanna work, which means he doesn’t wanna do anything. I just keep telling him you’re not dead When you’re dead then I’ll have to hire somebody.😀 .6 pounds is still .6 pounds. Good job I bet you’ll even bigger loss next week usually takes a couple weeks to show up. Just keep being consistent on your food and exercise.

I did not do my strength training yesterday. This is twice now. my plan is to make up for it on my free days of Saturday and Sunday. on Thursday, I hit a little over 10,000 steps and yesterday I did my morning walk, but my hips and legs hurt really bad. I just did not feel like doing the weights.

It’s really chilly up here in Minnesota this morning windchill factor 38°. I went and got my roots done. I walked up there to give me a little bit of extra exercise and had to take a jacket. I hadn’t worn this jacket since last year And I can tell I put on a little bit of weight in my stomach area. So now I’m more determined than ever My plan is to go to the gym tonight . Get on the treadmill for 30 minutes.

    fabgeekmom Posts: 1,008 Member

@trooworld Yeah, a working vacation is not my idea of a vacation either. DH doesn’t like to travel and the cottage is the only place he goes to. He will go on a family vacation if it’s something he can’t get out of, like a wedding or Bar Mitzvah. Though small, that weight loss was good. @theslightedgeforever I like to go to museums or national parks. Any subject is interesting but history, art and literature are my favorites. Actually my husband fixes a lot of things at our house and cottage as he likes to save money. Hi, all. We came home today. We ate dinner at a local Mediterranean restaurant. I had a baked falafel wrap. We also had some stuffed grape leaves. Afterwards we went to grocery store to get fruit and vegetables.

@trooworld Good job on skating and knowing when to quit. That sounded like a relaxing day. Nice pics. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. I air fried some beets to go with my sandwich and protein chips. DS is cooking tonight for family dinner. He’s grilling flank steak, making an Asian salad and preparing instant pot polenta. Plus he got some good bread from Sam’s Club. We’ll probably have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. It’s hot here but it’s supposed to cool down tomorrow. I sat outside for a few minutes but had to come in the house.

@trooworld That was an interesting meal! The dessert looked interesting. I wonder if the cookies were made at the restaurant. You look really good in the picture on the left side. It’s hard to change the body image you got used to before you lost the weight. Hi, all. It’s cool and dreary here today. I rode my bike and had a good workout. I had a salad with the leftover flank steak for lunch. My daughter is preparing chicken and dumplings and we are bringing the leftover Asian salad.

    Hey all

I’ve been meaning to get back here but I don’t know life gets in the way lol. Actually I started meditating a bit in the mornings so that changed my routine. I used to meditate a lot, I actually went to a Buddhist temple off and on for a few years. So it’s been maybe 10 years, but I decided to get into some light meditation to help me deal with stress and relax.

Foodwise- I guess I’m trying to maintain my weight rather than lose. Which still requires kind of monitoring. I’m still trying to stick to my goal of takeout 4 x a month, although I didn’t do so well in August.

Exercise, I am still exercising on my own but I’ve been finding it boring. I still think about getting a trainer for one day a week, but haven’t yet.

@trooworld good luck with your conference . I find conferences exhausting too, too many people. Right now I’m at work in the basement in a meeting room alone lol. I try to work alone as much as possible.

@fabgeekmom yeah weather changing here too . Wore my big hoody sweater for the first time today. I love fall though.

@theslightedgeforever ah interesting you ’re in Minnesota. I had no idea Minnesota was so close to Canada until like last year lol. I’m not very good at American geography. Or weather. I remember laughing at someone who was telling me once how cold it got in Wisconsin, bc I figured it was colder here. Then I did the conversion and saw how wrong I was. Yep it was damn cold in Wisconsin! Although Toronto is really mostly mild imo. Which doesn’t stop people complaining about it.

@trooworld I can understand that you are “peopled” out. When I taught school, I had to come home to a quiet home to decompress. Tacos with beans and rice sound good. @its_cleo Welcome back! I’m glad meditation helps you. I hope you find an exercise that you enjoy. I love fall, too. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. Dinner tonight is barbecue and stew from the freezer. DS is making coleslaw. We’ve had no homemade dessert since Labor Day. I think DS is tired from all that cooking. I’m trying to lose about 5 pounds I gained this summer.

  • fabgeekmom
    fabgeekmom Posts: 1,008 Member

@trooworld Oh, man, that was an awful day! I don’t blame you for going to bed early. I hope you had a peaceful day at work. Hi, all. I spoke too soon about the dessert. Last night DS and DH were eating some of the ice cream roll leftover from Labor Day. I had planned not to eat any but went in the dining room where they were eating it. The good news is I only ate 1/2 slices of and not much chocolate sauce as there wasn’t much left. We still have some left in the freezer so if I eat any it won’t be much. Tonight DS is grilling chicken and making more coleslaw. I’m roasting some potatoes. We have bread left from Saturday’s meal.

    fabgeekmom Posts: 1,008 Member

@trooworld I’m glad your day was so peaceful. Wearing jeans to work is nice. The salad sounded good. Hi, all. Last night was family dinner and when our daughter and her husband came over the power went out. I had cooked the chicken in the air fryer and luckily it was done, plus the potatoes in the oven were also done. My son turned on the grill and I cooked the chicken that wouldn’t fit in the air fryer. So we ate our meal by lantern light. Except not romantic! I was worried about my food in the freezer so DH took it to our daughter’s house. He was getting ready to get the refrigerator stuff to take to my cousin’s house when the power came back on. So I had to clean up later than I would’ve liked to. This morning when I got up I realized that I had forgotten to clean the air fryer. It was a mess by I sprayed it with Dawn soap and it got clean. Today is a swim day and DS is making Manhattan clam chowder for dinner.

@fabgeekmom I love stuffed grape leaves. I had never thought about air frying beets. Yay on your bike ride chicken and dumpling sounds wonderful. I assume your power has come back on now. I really hate when that happens.

@trooworld no I did absolutely nothing on the weekend so since then I have exercised every day. your day of skating and reading sounded so relaxing. I love your before and after pics you really worked hard. Your dinner was not my type of food either I have a restaurant like that. I think they just try to be too fancy and do too much fusion stuff. I don’t want s’mores with ginger. I want s’mores like Girl Scout s’mores.

@its_cleo glad to see you again. I know what you mean about life getting in the way. I haven’t been on here myself maybe three days maybe more I’m visiting my daughter in Minnesota. She loves the cold. I was shocked that some cities in Canada can be warmer than in the United States. I thought it because you all were north of us It would just naturally be colder. I think this gonna be really cold winter. So it sounds like you have put your body on pause but now you’re focusing on your mind. I’ve tried meditation a couple of times. I’m just too easily distracted.

so I’m on my way to the gym cardio day on the treadmill past couple of days. I’ve been getting up at 7:15 and then going straight to the gym coming back and then eating breakfast last night. I just made an executive decision. I’m just not going to do it. I was just really tired and I said as long as I get to the gym tomorrow doesn’t matter what time Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be back my first thing in the morning. I’m trying to make that my identity.

My daughter and I went to see Hamilton last night on the big screen. I’ve seen it before. It was so good though I still cry most of the way through it. I know there’s a big debate right now about. Should you sing in the theater with Hamilton or not the cast said sing so I sang, I sang quietly.

@fabgeekmom – wow what a mess with the power going out. It’s so stressful when that happens. The last time it happened here, it affected all the shops too, and I had no cash and not much food in the house for dinner lol. I scrounged something up but it was a pain.

@trooworld that conference sounds exhausting. I have problems now with too much sitting at work, but standing too much is just as bad. When I was in university for a while I worked as a cashier at a grocery store and standing all day killed me. I could do a 4 hour shift fine, but 8 was rough.

@theslightedgeforever wow that is early for the gym. I would find that hard. I do tend to work out in the morning but I poke around for like 2 hours after waking up before I actually get a move on. ….I have mixed feelings about winter, it is quieter here which I like but sometimes the weather sucks- we get a lot more rain now.

Well my weight is down this week, not really from trying, I’ve just been eating light meals I guess. Made a veg burrito for lunch the last couple days with black beans and cheese and so on. Made a pork tenderloin last night. I don’t eat a lot of pork but wanted a change.

Tomorrow I have to go downtown for 2 appts, so I may have lunch out – sushi I was thinking but depends on how the day goes as I am working in bw 2 appts- one in the morning and one at night.

Today I went for a bike ride. Work is quiet, although also kind of stressful atm long story. But it will settle down soon one way or the other.

@theslightestedgeforever 7:30 is too early for me to start exercising. I need a few hours to wake up, eat breakfast and do my crossword puzzles. I’ve seen Hamilton on Disney Plus and enjoyed it. I love the music. @its_cleo Yes, the power is back on. I know how you feel about winter. Last January and February killed me and I’m in the Southern USA so not as cold as you are. Good job on eating and weight being down. I hope you enjoy your meal out.

@trooworld You are getting so close! And you don’t need to get stricter. It’s good that you can enjoy the foods you like in moderation. Hi, all. It finally stopped raining so I went for a walk. It was a bit muggy and I regretted wearing long pants. The first thing I did when I came home was to change into shorts. The clam chowder was good and we’re having it again tonight. I can’t believe that the recipe would serve 4 as it was written. We may have some leftover for a lunch meal.

@trooworld I know it’s frustrating to have a week without a loss. It could be because you are so close or it could be the pasta. I guess you will have to forgo pasta before weigh in and see what happens. That’s good that you are working from home and going to the gym. Hi, all. My son and daughter are in Atlanta this weekend to see Duo Lipa. So I am cooking this weekend. Tonight DH and I had 2,ingredient pizza. It was really good and I was too full to eat some candy for dessert. DH ate some but I was okay.

    its_cleo Posts: 732 Member

@trooworld well maintaining is better than gaining , hopefully you have more progress soon.

@fabgeekmom 2 ingredient pizza is a nice dinner …sometimes I have that for lunch.

Today I am going to check out a Ukrainian festival that’s happening here. I think I mentioned before there are a lot of Ukrainians and Eastern Europeans in my area of the city. They’ve been here a long time, even before the war. The unfortunate thing is it’s supposed to rain. So I don’t think I will stay long but I will walk through it and pick up some things along the way.

I haven’t been going to classes at the gym. I need to figure out my schedule, and my work schedule but waiting for some info about my schedule at work which may change slightly. And then I can sort out my schedule at the gym. Or at least that is my goal lol. Don’t know why I haven’t been into the gym lately.
