@trooworld I hope the appointment goes well . At least it’s quick, and you don’t have to wait a couple weeks for it.
I’m almost 49, never had a mammogram, I actually just got the notice I can start to book them if I want. I thought I would wait until after I was 50. I’m just sick of appts.
I hope the issue is resolved with your knee soon- sounds like it’s coming along. I hope you have some nice plans tomorrow for afterward, or on the weekend. Something to look forward to.
@theslightedgeforever yes - I am stuck in routine for sure. I just don’t know how to get out of it lol. And yes finding that right balance with breakes is tough.
Actually this week, I’ve been thinking about turning 50 (next year) and I thought this week I would make a list of all the things I want to do that decade- like trips and so forth. I guess like a bucket list lol. Not that I will be able to do it all but you have to be able to start somewhere.
@fabgeekmom I hope the haircuts turn out well . I hate waking up early like that. Turkey pita sounds nice.
I’m ok doing sort of ok with my goals. My weight was down pretty good today. The weather has been gorgeous. I’ve been binge watching baseball- I can get really into it lol. But I might need a break after today. It also gets me riled up lol. Not sure it’s good for my heart for me to be yelling at my television. 😊 Or cheering.

Actually my weight today was a new low! By about .5 lbs. Kind of nice. My weight fluctuates a lot, so I track it but mostly watch the highs and lows. New low for me.

@fabgeekmom Sauna: I think it's all mental. I don't like sitting in the house sweating (which I'm currently doing cause I don't want to pay higher electricity bills more than necessary) I don't like going outside doing errands where I sweat. But I don't mind sweating in a sauna. I'm relaxing. Back in college days I would go do aerobics at the student center and then off to do a sauna. It was the most heady experience. I had no trouble exercising consistently then. So I'm trying to recreate that once a week. I would do it more often but it turns into a 3 hr event because I have to drive over to the gym. So I guess I just need to go sit outside and pretend I'm in the sauna on the other days. lol I tried sitting in the massage chair but that doesn't seem to motivate me. Good on you for the one piece. I like coconut in things only if it's finely grated. I need to try crockpot bbq chicken. Anything to save time.
@trooworld New fridges: I've been reading about refrigerators and the newer high tech are terrible to have for maint issues. Because you need specialized people to work on them. Plus are the spare parts available. I would like to have one where there is a small drawer in the middle. My friend has that for her deli meats, cheeses, etc. If not, then a four door one. Hubby will probably come home with a 2 door old fashioned one and said Hey it was on sale. 😆 That's how I have my current dryer that I don't like. But better than hanging them out on a line. (when life gives you lemons…) Sounds like your mil has time blindness. Or could just be a narcissist 😂 Fingers crossed for your mammogram. I have a friend like that. She always has to go back and then it's nothing. She gets so mad because she has to go through the anxiety.
@its_cleo Yaaay on your weight loss plus new low. Any downward movement is progress. Your routine: Can you change just one teensy part of it? (makes note to do that myself) Bucket list: Just make the list. My mom used to keep a collage of magazine pics or stuff she would print off the net about things she would like to do and it was on her refrigerator. It had a title of Believe in Someday. I bet that list was there for 20+ years. She would cross them off with a magic marker if completed. I remember how much you loved your baseball.
If I would check in more often this wouldn't take so long. lol I've lost 3.6 lbs this past month. Progress is progress. Trying not to concentrate on that but the consistency of my habits.

@trooworld we cross posted. Most of breast calcifications are benign. The good news is that it was found early. So you are on top of this. My daughter went to Comic-Con one time. That was on her bucket list. She loved it.

@its_cleo Good job on the weight loss and your newer lower weight. It’s good to make goals. That’s too funny about you getting too excited about baseball. I’m assuming you pull for a certain team. @trooworld It’s good to have distractions. I think I learned about Comic -Con from watching Big Bang. The pesto recipe sounds good. @theslightedgeforever I prefer not to sweat but a lot of people like saunas. I think in Scandinavian countries people go in really cold water and then a sauna or the sauna and then thecold water. Good job on the weight loss. Hi, all. I woke up again at 4. I seem to be in a pattern. Although I think I dozed off after working the spelling bee. Today we are going to the cottage for a few days. DH has some work to do there. Luckily he is handy and can do the work himself. I’m bringing burgers from last night with salad and frozen French fries for dinner.

@trooworld - sorry to hear you have to get checked further. Hopefully it’s nothing…..they have comic com every year here too, although I’ve never gone. But I will sometimes see people going all decked out in costumes, it looks fun.
@the slightedgeforever I ’ve been thinking of how to change my routine since you posted. I never do anything fun or spontaneous. I’m interested in trying a line dancing class here, but haven’t made it yet. The time and location is a bit inconvenient for me, so that is one hurdle.
@fabgeekmom I ’m from Toronto, so I root for the Blue Jays, although I have watched/rooted for other teams. I know some people that are Mets fans, so I hope it goes well for them. I tend to like underdog teams.
I hope you enjoy the cottage!
I stayed under my calorie goal today although I almost splurged out and got some cookies at a bakery downtown today. But I had already splurged for breakfast lol (bacon). So one splurge and I am still under my goal. The cookies would’ve pushed it over.

@its_cleo That’s very interesting that you root for those teams, especially the underdogs. I’m not into sports. We watch the Super Bowl every year as my daughter loves football. Good job on resisting the cookies.

@trooworld Sorry about your car and all your stress. The bracelet sounds nice. Hi, all. I had a good day yesterday. The weather was windy and cooler than usual so I was able to walk comfortably at the park. Last night we had burgers, fries and a salad. Today it us a bit hotter. I walked at the park. There was a bit of a breeze. I’m going to walk to the water. I don’t go swimming as the access is not accessible and the water is dirty. Dinner will be a salad and some stuffed shells I got out of the freezer. I made them about a month ago.

@trooworld I’ve never had an açaí bowl. Your meal from TJ’s sounded good. I agree that that’s a lot of money for that little damage but I’m not surprised. Hi, all. We’re home now. DS made meatball subs and curly fries for dinner. While we were gone he made a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. So we had cake for dessert. I hadn’t expected to eat cake but I can’t resist his desserts.
0 -
@trooworld that ’s a shame about your car. And yes, bodywork is expensive. I hit a car in a parking lot once- I did leave a note! And I paid for the damage, which was just bodywork but yeah it was expensive.
It was actually the very first day I drove a new car home, my first time in that underground garage in that car, and I miscalculated.
@fabgeekmom nothing wrong with a treat once in a while ! I’ve been craving a cake myself lol.
Today there is a street festival sort of near me. I’m going to go this aft, but I have to figure out and plan it so I don’t walk too much and aggravate my hip. But it will be nice. I used to go to a lot of street festivals, but haven’t the last few years.
I’m doing ok with calories but I may splurge today at the festival if anything catches my eye.

@trooworld The açaí bowl sounds good. Good job on the gym. I’m jealous when I read “a bit cold. “ We’re still in a heat wave but I read that the first week in August might be cooler. Have fun at Comic-con. @its_cleo I love street festivals! We used to go to them when our son lived in Wilmington, NC. The first thing I thought of was all those quirky British shows where the community has a festival. And someone dies as the show is a murder mystery. I hope you have fun and don’t overtire your hip. Hi, all. I had another night of insomnia. I don’t feel too bad now but know I will be tired later. Plans are to grocery shop and then come home and get ready to go swimming. I’m making a shrimp corn salad from America’s Test Kitchen but air frying the shrimp and microwaving the corn. It’s supposed to be grilled but it’s too hot. And DS said he wasn’t grilling. Yes, @trooworld , he can cook!

@trooworld The bracelet and necklace look good. That’s a good idea to bring stuff to Comic-Con to be more comfortable. I wear a knee brace and it helps. Your husband might be right about the parking situation. I have a handicapped placard and sometimes at big events the handicapped spaces are taken. As to the sleeping problem there isn’t really a reason. I wake up to go to the bathroom and then I’m wide awake. I do all the things like limiting liquids. Luckily most of the time I can get back to sleep. Hi, all. I slept better last night. I got up twice but went back to sleep. Dinner last night was good. Everyone ate dessert- the cake my son made plus ice cream. I didn’t eat any as my stomach was a bit upset after Friday’s dinner and dessert. I ate some figs that my husband had picked from our fig tree. Today I am riding my bike. I might make some fig preserves as my husband is going to pick more figs. We’re going to my cousin’s house for dinner tonight. Her husband is grilling steak and she is making an Oreo cake. I’ll try not to eat too much. It’ll be fun as my daughter and her husband will also be there.
0 -
@fabgeekmom yeah there are a lot of different street festivals here all summer . Moreso in June and July….I’m sorry to hear about the insomnia, that’s the worst. I’ve had problems with insomnia all my life, although more when I was younger.
@trooworld glad you had a good time at comic -con! What a cool shirt. I’ve just gotten back into reading this year. I used to read tons and tons then I stopped for about 20 years. Now back into it. It’s been nice.
I went to the festival here on the weekend for a few hours. It was fun. They had a couple stages and some live bands, so after walking around I just sat and listened to some music. I was over calories though, bc I bought a mini apple pie.
It’s supposed to be super hot here today. I will work out in the condo gym and maybe go for a bike ride. I’m kind of bored of exercising. I need to find a new routine or something.

@trooworld I’m glad you had a good time at Comic-Con. That was a lot of steps! It was good that you had your cane. I love the t-shirt and pictures. @its_cleo A mini apple pie sounds really good and worth those extra calories. The festival sounds like fun. I’m always reading something. It’s good that you have a gym at your condo. Hi, all. I made fig jam yesterday. It was really easy: combine 4 cups figs, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water and the juice of 1/2 lemon and let simmer. Stir occasionally and cook until syrupy. I made enough for DH and me, my cousin’s husband and my son-in-law. Dinner last night was good and I ate one serving of everything. We were offered leftovers but I said no. Today I am dropping off my car for routine maintenance and state inspection. DS is grilling 2 ingredient pizza for dinner. Today is a swim day.
0 -
@trooworld It will probably take a few days for you not to feel so sore from all that walking. I hope you’re feeling better. Your day sounded really nice and relaxing. I’m glad you enjoyed the soup. Hi, all. I picked up my car yesterday and a few things needs to be fixed but nothing major. I found out that I had a credit as the dealership had a rewards program. So it didn’t cost as much as I thought it would. Today I rode my bike and stayed home. I prepared instant pot spaghetti and meatballs for family dinner. Everyone liked it. It was easy to prepare.
0 -
@trooworld That’s good news about the mammogram. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. Dinner tonight is salmon. I bought a pretty fillet. I’m going to freeze what we don’t eat and fix it later. I’m not sure who’s cooking tonight. If I do, I’ll air fry it. Or DS can grill it.
0 -
@trooworld I ’m glad your test results came back okay, and glad the car is ready! I’m sure it’s nice to be able to relax after both those things. ….The vegetarian peanut soup sounds good, I love that kind of soup……
Books- well I read a lot of mystery/suspense kind of books. I’ve read a couple by an Icelandic author that are pretty good, other than the people’s names are hard to pronounce lol. The Silence of the Sea- is pretty good.
I wish I could find other books I like but it’s tough. I used to read a lot of sci fi and fantasy, but I’m not as into it now. I did start the Scythe books. Occasionally I try to find a lighter book, but it’s hit and miss if it will keep my attn.
@fabgeekmom fig jam sounds good . I buy figs occasionally. That’s great about the credit at the dealership.
I have to go downtown today for 2 appts which is kind of a drag. One is a new physio. I’m really sick of physio tbh, but I don’t have to pay for this appt, so I’m going lol. I had to pay for the other physio. I don’t want to get into health insurance here, but physio is rarely covered unless you were in an accident or something, or had surgery. But I managed to get in to the covered physio bc I got a referral from the hospital specialist I saw a while ago.
Actually my hip is a bit better this week. I’ve been trying to walk a tiny bit more.
Calories- doing ok. Actually my biggest success is I met my goal of only eating out 4 x in July. It was hard lol, esp the last few days. I’m going out for lunch this weekend though.

@trooworld That’s good that your car is ready. I’m not a fan of the dentist even though I do like the dental practice that I go to. I hope you can get some rest or slow down this weekend. @its_cleo You’re fortunate that you can get the physio without paying. It’s good that your hip is better. Good job on calorie counting and limiting take out. Hi, all. Dinner last night was good. DS grilled the salmon and I made a salad and air fried some sliced polenta. We had salmon for lunch. I ate mine on a salad. DS and DH get tired of salads but I could eat one every day. Tonight DS is preparing grilled tofu with vegetable kebabs. It is an America’s Test Kitchen recipe.

@trooworld That was kind of your colleagues to give you the plant. Also it’s nice to be appreciated. That’s neat that you are getting your SIL’s couch. Maintaining is good even though I know you wanted a loss. Hi, all. A cold front came in last night and the 90’s are gone, at least for the next ten days. The highs are in the low 80’s to the high 70’s. I went for a walk which was nice for a change. A few nights ago I dreamed that DS made us Big Macs. So I told him that and tonight he grilled burgers with American cheese and made a copy cat sauce. They were so good. I air fried some frozen onion rings. It’s nice to eat “fast food “ at home.
0 -
@fabgeekmom tofu kebabs sounds interesting . I will sometimes throw tofu in soups or pasta….I love onion rings. Sounds like a great dinner. It’s cooler here, too.
@trooworld the plant is really nice . I always worry about killing them, too. Right now I just have one, and one stem I’m trying to propagate in some water. And nice with the couch. ….oh yeah I will try that soup. I’ll probably put some red lentils in it.
Well, the physio I saw was actually a sports doctor, I had no idea lol. I didn’t pay much attn when the specialist was talking about the referral. Anyway, it doesn’t matter, they all say the same thing and I don’t think there is much they can do to help me at this point.
I gave up and got a hip injection, and they all say I need to strengthen the muscles around the hip now so I finally decided I will try to find a good personal trainer once a week. I just cant keep going to physio, like I’m just tired of it. I hate it at this point lol. I have been doing physio off and on since last Sept. It did definitely help, but I just need to do something else right now.
The thing will be to find a good trainer, that I’m comfortable with.
In the meantime going to a baseball game today with my uncle, so I’m looking forward to that. The game is 3 pm so we’ll have lunch out before. I’m looking forward to it since I haven’t eaten out in a while.
Hope you have a nice weekend!
0 -
@its_cleo A sports PT is about the same as any PT. But I get it that you’re tired of the PT. There isn’t much they can do and most of the time I do the exercises and just keep going. I hope you had a good time with your uncle and enjoyed your meal out and the game. @trooworld Sorry about the headache but glad you were able to go to the gym. I hope you had a good time at the museum. Too bad the pizza was just okay but I agree it was better than cooking. Hi, all. Today was a swim day. We had leftover burgers for lunch. DS is grilling ribs for family dinner. We’re also having coleslaw and corn on the cob. Easy dinner, for me as DS is also making the coleslaw. He says I don’t do it right.
0 -
@trooworld The exhibit sounded really interesting. Too bad about the couch. Nothing is ever easy! Hi, all. I went for a walk after breakfast. It was a little hot but not as stifling as it had been. We’re eating dinner at our daughters’s house. She’s making Zuppa Toscana, a lighter version with turkey sausage instead of pork sausage.
0 -
@trooworld I know what you mean about not wanting to go to the gym. I’m often not in the mood to exercise but I do it anyway. That’s how I felt about swimming this morning. Shrimp tacos and a nap sound good. Hi, all. I’m making fig preserves again. I made some a few days ago and froze them. The fig season is short so I try to stockpile the figs. Tonight is pizza night and I’m cooking as DS is going out with a friend. I’m going to bake them in the oven and make 2 extra to eat later.

Good Morning!
Where is the summer going? Already August?!? Well I finally doing it. Decluttering the house, I’m in Day 5 and have a half dumpster full so far. Have 5 days left still a lot to go through. Definitely burning calories on this adventure. I’m also feeling so much better. I’m hoping this taming the chaos in the house leads to taming the chaos in the kitchen and getting back on track with losing weight and getting healthy again.
How is everyone else doing?

@trooworld I have made that recipe several times and it’s so good and easy. Did you know that Skinnytaste is coming out with a protein cookbook sometime this fall? @gemwolf110 Decluttering is good! Wow, that’s a lot of stuff you got rid of. Hi, all. DH and I went to Sam’s Club this morning and stocked up. I went for a walk after lunch. The temperatures are still cooler than usual. The heat is coming back next week. I’m ready for fall. DS is making some fancy tuna sandwiches from America’s Test Kitchen. I made a cucumber salad from the same app. We’re also having frozen French fries. It’s a good thing that I have calories saved up.
1 -
@fabgeekmom it is a lot. So far only garage and basement has been worked on. Still need to do 3 more areas. I should have taken the whole week out. The cucumber salad sounds like a good summer dish. I can’t wait for it to get cooler.
Morning all!I’m feeling all the activity this morning. Day 6 of the clutter purge and I met up with a friend to hit some golf balls at the driving range last night. It’s been 20 years since I last played and needed to try out the new clubs before the tournament in a couple of weeks. Definitely a little rusty but not bad for being 20 years of no golfing.
Hope everyone has a great day! Gotta go start decluttering!
~Missy

@gemwolf110 It’s good that you found an activity that you enjoy. @trooworld Good idea to learn a technique that will help with vertigo. Good luck with the declutterring. Hi, all. DH and I are at our cottage. The weather is still cool so I was able to walk around the park and to the water. Dinner tonight was really simple: salad, air fried salmon and leftover rice reheated in the microwave.
1 -
@trooworld That’s great that you are almost finished with your big project and done with PT. Leftovers are always good. Hi, all. I had a good day today. I walked around the park after breakfast. It felt like a nice fall day. Dinner was burgers and fries, both prepared in the air fryer.
0 -
When I logged in it said I earned a 10 year anniversary badge. How sad is it that I'm not at goal.
@fabgeekmom I'm ready for fall. Ready for pumpkin season. Enjoy the cottage
@trooworld Doesn't it feel good to get a big project done? I was thinking about decluttering my bedroom. I'm headed to my daughters house at the end of the month and I it would be nice to come back to an organized bedroom.
@gemwolf110 I once read a book about body clutter. Don't know if you have ever heard of FLYlady but I used to listen to her about clearing the house clutter and found she wrote a book about the body. I need to go revisit that book.
I've been using the meal planner on here for a couple of weeks. I upgraded since it wasn't that much more than my Premium. I'll use it for a year and see if it's really worth it. I just did the basic meal plan but think I'll try a low carb in and add my own carbs as needed so I can carb cycle.
I went to the community gym yesterday for treadmill and weights. Sat in the sauna for 20 min. I found out I shouldn't be taking my phone nor Apple watch in there. So my headphones could still connect to my phone in the locker. So I counted out 5 songs.
Today I will do some intervals on the treadmill and some lower body mobility exercises so I don't look like an old person walking across the room.

@theslightedgeforever I agree with @trooworld Working toward a goal is as important as being at goal. If being at goal was so easy the diet industry would just collapse! @trooworld Good job on cooking even though it is so hot. Good luck with the declutterring. We had a big declutterring when we moved out of a house we had lived in for 40 years. Now that we are settled in, about 6 years, we have accumulated a lot of stuff. Occasionally I go in my closet and donate clothes I haven’t worn. Hi, all. We are at home now. We ate a late lunch as we left later than we wanted to. Next time I will fix us a sandwich to eat on the way home. I was hangry when we got home. DS is grilling chicken breasts with a tangy barbecue sauce and making America’s Test Kitchen tomato soup. He also made a peach coffee cake. I haven’t eaten much today so I have calories. Also I went for a walk so that helped with my mood.
