Two walks, exercised, went over on IN target due to evening munchies (we had some chewy 'gummy bear' type candies from IKEA, they weren't that good and put me over my target), met protein goal. I'm starting to like my new scale. As a data junkie, it is just giving me more data. Difference today new 139.2 old 139.5. I find it interesting that the difference between the two scales ranges from .3 to .8 pounds and that the difference is less after TMI. It really makes no sense to me. But as I said to Tina, home scales are almost never 'accurate'. It is the trend over time that matters. Either way, I feel like I'm well on my way to staying in the 13s, which I'm pleased about. (7 day trend new 140.2; old 140.4). 7 day trend is lower than pre-cruise (140.5). Cruise was Aug 15-28, followed by camping Sept 10-19. We are camping next week. I will track and with discipline and planning will not gain, but we do have my youngest son's birthday to celebrate, we want to go to this fancy restaurant and we are having another couple join us for two nights…. I'll do my best and I will also enjoy myself.

I'm seeing lots of losses this week. Well done everyone! Even if you gained or maintained, you learned something and that is also a success.

Yesterday walked the dog, exercised, yoga and cleaned the bathrooms. Uncharacteristically I did not eat lunch yesterday. I don't normally do that. IN calories are low, and OUT calories are high.

Second to last day of comparing the old and new scales, because tomorrow I'm giving my old scale to my eldest son. Small inconsistent differences; just goes to validate that even the weight is just an estimate.

    old

    new

    diff

    before TMI

    140.4

    139.6

Week 6 (I use the 7 day trend for my actuals)
    Start 142.7
    Goal 141
Actual 139.8 —> Although, this looks like a big drop, part of it is vacation gains that have now been lost again. Back on track and down 0.7 from pre-vacation and a new 2025 low.

    Hi : - )

I am Dawn. I will turn 65 this round. I have changed my eating habits over time. I basically eat half of the amount that I used to, and have limited eating Ribs to once every 3 months instead of once per week.

    Week 1 Start Weight: 137.8

    Week 1 Goal: 136.8

    Week 1 Actual Weight: 140.8 - Exactly a 3 pound gain : - (

    Week 2 Start Weight: 140.2

    Week 2 Goal: 136.6 - ambitious I know

    Week 2 Actual Weight: 137.6

    Week 3 Start Weight: 137.6

    Week 3 Goal: 135.6

    Week 3 Actual Weight: 136.5

    Week 4 Start Weight: 135.2

    Week 4 Goal: 135.0

    Week 4 Actual Weight: 136.0

Week 5 Start Weight: 136.0 - on my 65th birthday

    Week 5 Goal: 135.0 136.5

    Week 5 Actual Weight: 136.2

Day 36—09/27 — 136.8 - That was a long slog of travel, plane delays etc. I packed lots and lots of food: 2 apples cut up into 3 containers, an entire green pepper cut up into 2 containers, a container of hummus and 8 water crackers, 2 halves of a turkey sandwich. I ate all of that except 1/2 of a sandwich, plus I had pretzels and a cookie on the plane. My suitcase was overweight, so I had to take out my jeans, slippers, and coat and squish them into my carryon/laptop bag.

I would have liked to sleep longer this morning than I did. Way too much to do at home, but trying desperately to keep having the memories of my trip alive so that I can think about the feelings and emotions that I had.

Planning Ribs tonight or tomorrow. I will take the 3-5 pound gain.

Day 37—09/28 — 136.4 - Nice weight considering that I had Ribs last evening. I attribute the weight to a few things: I was feeling so strong up at the cabin, gathering wood, up and over so many rocks eating healthy, many squats when making the fire, I felt lean the whole time that I was there but my weight didn't reflect it, maybe that is catching up. I ate early last night, 5pm, went to bed early but woke up with terrible cramping at 1am. I got up, took 2 magnesium and had 2 small glasses of Cran10. I drank water all day, but I didn't put anything in it even though I do have lemons and lemon juice. I know better, water robs electrolytes when you drink quite a bit of it. I will be sure to add lemon today. Got up at 5am like I have been, but was very tired so went back to bed and listened to the radio for a half hour and went back to sleep. I put the bedside radio on for my usual 7am Classical music hour on CBC and got out of bed at 8am and weighed. So later weigh time. Most things (for me) take many days to show up on the scale. The next 2 days I have a great deal of work to do outside because after that it is going to rain until October 10th. I will cut the grass, begin digging the potato garden which will likely take 8 hours to complete, getting the weeds out, digging up the potatoes, then covering the area with the thick black plastic. I did some harvesting yesterday, and I had done a bunch before I left. There are still 24 pepper plants in 2 6'X3' beds to uncover and harvest what grew while I was away plus weed those. I eat an entire pepper raw each day, so I will save about 14 of those in the fridge and begin prepping the rest for freezing during the rainy days before I go back to work on Friday. I will make Nachos tonight with all of my fresh peppers and tomatoes, and pita pizza tomorrow night with the same.

Day 38—09/29 — 136.4 - I expected a large gain today because yesterday I definitely overheated in the digging in the potato garden under the sun. I will try to get a bunch done in there this morning once it gets light out. Smoky skies, (air quality advisory) but I have to do this before it begins to rain tomorrow. Potatoes won't tumble if it is mud, they become too hard to find. The thing that takes so long is getting the weeds out. I hope to be able to get it all covered also, so that airborne weeds don't plant themselves. Sadly the ones that are tightly wrapped around the potato plants and have to be untangled (bindweed) grow their network 8 feet underground. I see that there are green beans ready to pick : - ) Those can be picked in the rain, keeping my priorities straight : - )

Several rows are done. There are a few potato plants that aren't ready though. They stop being green when they are ready, they turn like yellow and dehydrated looking when they are ready. So in the photo there are 2 green ones in rows that are complete. Not sure what I am going to do about that yet, I will think about it.

Day 39—09/30 — 135.8 - Well, I usually gain when I am so physical in the yard. The temperature was the same, but the sun wasn't beating down on me making sweat drip into my eyes despite my terry headband. I basically spent the entire day out in my yard, plus Fitness Marshall before all of that so that I would be limbered up and not hurt myself. Having said that, my right shoulder and right hand and fingers are very sore this morning from all of that digging. Lots of squatting and lunging and twisting. Putting on the big black tarp was hilarious because it was windy. but it is done. I had some potatoes down the side too, I often do because the potatoes that I have leftover in the bucket after planting my big space need to be planted somewhere. The 2 green plants only had quite small potatoes. All of the tiny ones I just leave in the ground. Normally I leave the potatoes on the soil that they came out of for 24 hours, but I did not want them to get wet so into buckets they went.

Day 40—10/01 — 136.6 - This is heaven for me to be able to "work" straight through in the garden when I am on a roll, and not have to get cleaned up for work. I love being out there. My best garden was the year of the pandemic when many of us got laid off, but the government paid us $2k per month. How lovely it would be if I could retire some day, apparently 65 is not the magic number for me.

Day 41—10/02 — 137.6 - Weighed 3 hours earlier, so 1 pound up. I made some fake pasta alfredo for dinner. I used to be able to buy it around here, the stuff was called Kanjac and from a root. Now I get it from Amazon, and it is a 2 pack. I always like things that have fiber. I had some nice sauteed peppers and onions as a side.

Day 42—10/03 — 136.6 - Back to work today. Waaaahhhhh.

    Week 6 Start Weight: 136.8

Week 6 Goal: 135.2 (my weight 4 days before my birthday)

Week 6 Actual Weight: 136.6 - Once per 3 month Ribs eaten

@deepwoodslady re “. I ‘m wondering if I should change my weigh-in days on my saved format for this challenge by one day or just accept late weigh-ins at this point. At least the late weigh-ins would be consistent. Thoughts anyone?” —> I was thinking about this since your post last Friday. I think you should just adjust your tracking to have your challenge week end on Thursday or Saturday. Just make week a 6 or 8 day week and then continue on from there. In the next 100 day challenge, the week will end on Sunday.

@age_is_just_a_number Thanks for the input. That is definitely how I was thinking I would prefer to do it as it will only create one 8 day week and the rest will be back to 7 again (except the last week). The downside is that my dates will be different than everyone else's for the rest of the challenge so I hope I don't confuse anyone lol!

Visited with my FIL, who is still in the rehab hospital. Very low activity day. Met my IN calorie target and my protein target.

Success for the day: 1) packed a salad for lunch instead of planning to eat out and 2) went to a fruit stand instead of a drive through after our visit.

Last day of old scale and new scale comparison: 139.7 old, 139.4 new. 7 day trend 140.0 old, 139.6 new. Either way, a new 2025 low 7 day trend. The new scale 7 day trend number still has 1 day from the old scale. Within 0.5lbs of each other. I recalibrated the new scale to see if that would make a difference and it did not.

    image.png

Week 6 average IN calories 1710 —> beat my IN target!

    Week 7 Goals:
    1) Keep IN to 1770 target, which is going to be very difficult because we are camping from Monday to Friday next week.
    2) I won't be weighing during the week. Don't gain while camping.

My Ticker tape: Officially half way to my goal! 9 months in the making.

@ptitejeanne I see from your emojis that in weeks 7 & 8 you'll be on a cruise. Where are you going?

@deepwoodslady I think the rest of us can handle if your dates are one day different. You have to think about what will work best for you. You do so much for other people, put yourself first once in awhile.

Yes, where are you going on vacay?
