Stephanie- I miss the days of getting to workout on a beach…the Oregon coast is not nearly as nice.

Majaila- Welcome! I was a board stalker before joining also. All other stalkers out there join us. I promise we won’t bite :o)

3rica- Hang in there! I generally tell myself I have to be more than 6 days late before I test because my longest cycle has been 34 days. Now that I’m on progesterone I have to test on the 12th day of pills if I haven’t started yet.

    Lily- WELCOME!

Julia- sounds good! Didn’t you have 2 surges last month? You probably did ovulate the first time you thought and the cramps could have been implantation cramps…

Pam- the challenge sounds good- I’ll have to find I food I wanna try. The squash sounds YUMMY but I like squash.

Choir- Welcome. My husband and I have started the adoption process. We have decided to do an independent adoption with a lawyer and hopefully we will find a match through family and friends. We are held up right now with some immigration paperwork (long story, but my DH mom didn’t follow through after he was adopted and get his paper work finished when he was a minor so now I have to do it) I would suggest the book You Can Adopt it is an AWESOME book! Give you lots of think to think about and talk about to decide if it is right for your family and what type of adoption.

AFM- I came in EXACTLY on my calorie goal today- and then I entered my exercise calories and now I’m under. Oh well I’m going to find a snack to munch on.

    Fingers crossed for you Julia!

Thanks for the challenge Pam, that sounds like fun. I've never seen a squash like you describe in the markets here, I can't usually get anything other than butternut. I will have a think about something new this week though.

I'm working late tonight and tomorrow and possibly rehearsing over the weekend so trying to make healthy decisions and also get the exercise in is really feeling like an uphill battle. I'm barely clinging on to the diet wagon the last couple of months and although I've not been brave enough to weigh in, I'm sure I've put on a few pounds. I just need to get my motivation back and jump back in I guess

Awesome challenge, Pam! We tried quinoa for the first time last night. I loved it, but then I usually like most things. ;) What was really surprising was that DH liked it! He is really resistant to new things and has some texture issues, so it's rare that he actually likes one of my little experiments, but he said he really enjoyed it. Can't wait to make it again! I cooked it, cooled it down, and mixed it with a chopped apple, some currants, toasted sliced almonds, goat cheese, and parsley and chives from my garden. Delicious!

Whoa Majaila - that sounds good - some super combinations there!!!!

Fiona - know what you mean - I haven't been holding on and have gained back 15 lbs of the 60 I'd lost. My goal is to be back down to 50lbs lost before getting preggers (so good thing I have a few more weeks). Focusing in on the reason again should help with the motivation (I look at pictures of children - which sounds creepy but isn't - when I'm working out to remind myself what I'm working out for and to push my hardest always)

Luki - proud of you!!! Way to come in AT goal!!!! WOO HOO - are you still filling out the immigration forms for DH??????????? That's been a long long long time now!!!

Steph - YAY!! I got through 5 minutes and my back started to cramp up (around the herniation) so had to stop...if you can keep it going, she will kick your butt!

AFM - I cannot believe that my vaca is half over.....YIKES!!! We`ve really gotten very little done....we`re now thinking about doing a `Friendsgiving` on our anniversary instead of just us two because a friend and her boyfriend will be in town only until Saturday morning......I started making some Christmas decorations...ooh...I wanna change my strange fact (LOL): My strange fact is that I start preparing for Christmas in July. Seriously, have many of my gifts made, started my Christmas cookies and my decorations come out as soon as its socially acceptable (usually Remembrance Day - Nov 11)

Took another test this afternoon and it had a faint but obvious double line! Going to test again in the morning and depending on the result going to get a blood test. Wish me luck!

I took about 20 tests last year. My only advice is not to take them one after another. I got a positive then took more about 2 minutes later and got negatives... not a funny game! Turns out when it is so early you will only have enough chemical in your urine to have one positive. :) Oh and Congrats!

So I am suppose to start and two days and I have a feeling that this month was no success. 25 attempts later I thought it would happen by now

Pam- I know right?! It feels liek FOREVER!!! He got denied the first time- evern though we followed immigrations suggestions on how to file. they said to file through his adoption coart papers he needed to file before he was 21 (like it is his fault his mom didn;t do it :explode: ) So we have to refile under being married. Just frustrating because that is why we made the appointment with immigration to find out which way to apply and then they gave us faulty information

3rica- Don't count the individual months it will only bring your down. I'm sorry it doesn't seem to have happened this month, but don't give up on the month yet...

AFM- went to Zumba for the first time in a LONG time- lots of fun but so many new routines I was a bit lost.

LOL! I was in Costco a couple days ago taking pictures of all of their Christmas decorations and sending them to my hubby. He was not convinced that we need a giant reindeer for some reason. I love Christmas, I have a detailed gift-planning spreadsheet that I use to coordinate all of our shopping every year!

AFM: Waiting patiently until next week, when CD1 should show up. Maybe "patiently" isn't the right word, LOL. Hoping to go back to the gym this week - a foot injury has kept me away for ages.

  • I am so glad I found this group! It was exactly what I was looking for. My motivation to lose weight is in the fact that one day I will have children. It is really important to me to be a mother, but I will not do it being the weight I am. My name is Heather and I am 20 years old. I was born and raised in Kentucky. I currently hold 2 part time jobs, I work at Lane Bryant and I am a CNA. I am new to the board so bare with me, but I am very excited. I got married in March of this year to my wonderful husband. :) We have been together for two years and married for 8 months. We have no children, and we are not TTC until we lose the weight we want to lose. I am 5'1" and I weigh 230 lbs, my goal weight is 145lbs. I'm really excited about being a part of this group. If anyone has some tips on how to work the boards please let me know!! :)

    Congrats to Julia

Pantera - LOL I'm in the same situation. They announced their going to watch and monitor all internet traffic at work (which is why I backed off, and right now in the middle of a renovation blitz. I'm on vacation this week though....LOL WOO HOO!!

    Heather - Welcome!!!!

AFM - today was attempt 2 at taking the dog to the vet. We're at a point where we now have to go to a specialist - behaviourist actually - to figure things out. The good news is one of my swim club friends works for an animal behaviourist....LOL I was already going that route. He's a really good dog and loves being around kids BUT he's unpredictable and when his crazy switch gets flipped, it's not good - my DH actually got nipped today enough to create blood blisters. We're going to see what's what and then try again for his shots - he doesn't even like the stethoscope.....I told him before his appointment that I've had far more invasive things than a silly old stethoscope...just man up! LOL Right now he's walking around all doped up (we gave him the maximum for sedation, but that darn crazy switch overrides it).

I'm going back to aquafit tongiht.....my original swim buddy has backed out (her big event is over so she doesn't care) and is trying to get me to ditch as well...so I'm glad I had the presence of mind to have a second buddy and I've also invited a friend up to join us.....so the three of us are going. Forget that...the only reason I haven't been in a month is because the pool was closed.....I knew it would get to this point....she's been bringing up how much fun she's had crafting instead of swimming weekly......but that's too bad. I'm not changing the plans I've in place for 18 months because she doesn't need to lose 10lbs to get into her bridesmaids dress anymore.

    Just a quick drop in.

    CONGRATULATIONS Julia!!!
    Welcome Heather311!
Pam, stick to your guns. It is totally worth it. Glad you have a couple more buddies to go with you.

AFM, had a good lunch meeting with my boss today (I haven't really talked to him much over the past 4 weeks). I offered up taking on some more responsibility - I know, CRAZY!, but I think it is the right move career wise. I think he was surprised, but not in a bad way. We still have to work out a lot of the details, but I'm in the drivers seat, so that's a good thing. Now I'm working through the rest of the afternoon from Starbucks because I don't want to go back to the other office and get distracted by some side issue. It's a good day. Oh, and I made it through 30DS Day 2 yesterday - I am SO sore! It gets easier, right?

    Happy Thursday everyone!

Heather - Welcome! I also recently joined this group and love it. It's becoming a bit addictive to see what everyone is up too.

Fitterpam - Good for you! Have a great time tonight.

AFM, lots of errands today getting ready to take possession of our new house tomorrow and preparing for Canadian Thanksgiving. Booked my acupuncture treatment for tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it goes.
  • I know what a lot of the abbreviations are, but could someone tell me what AFM means?
