Thanks - that's good to know. The machines actually count lower than your HRM?!!

    Esther

The way it was explained to me is that everyone automatically gets the same amount of calories for the recovery boards because, obviously, there is no way to monitor what you do on the board. So, for me, I think it depended on how hard I went on the recovery board that made the difference.

    I hope this makes sense:wink:

    Cool.
    yeahbuddy -That's probably the difference.

Good job everyone. I'm recovering from some oral surgery that really knocked me flat. But the scales are looking good, so it's all good.

    Have a great weekend!

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, my name is Lora but screen name is Loma. I couldn't think of anything better at the time so part of my real name and part of my all the time name, "ma" lol.
We don't have the smart machines at my Curves. They sound cool but also like a pain in the butt...
I went to Curves 3x this week but opted for a 2mile hike today. It took my 40 minutes to hike the 2mile trail at a local park, it has a lot of hills so I call it a hike:tongue:

Well, how did the weekend go for everyone? Mine went well and I was back in Curves this morning for my 100% workout. It always feels so good when I'm done

    Today is a NEW DAY!

Yep, back for me, too. But, I didn't have very much energy so I wasn't at 100%.

    How was everyone else's weekend?

Okay done with my 100% day today. I clocked in at 646 calories burned but am only claiming 600. I will never be able to eat all those calories anyway! Oh, I suppose I could  But, I don't want to:wink:
    Have a good day everyone.

grammy, did you burn all that just at Curves?

Had a really good workout today:happy: I had all green dots on my computer person and burned 271 calories. My PI was increased to 11.

I'm starting to feel some tightness in my ab and oblique areas that I haven't felt in a long time. Plus, I know my legs are getting stronger because I'm able to walk/jog longer distances without getting as tired.

    Grammymax Posts: 572 Member
Yes, that's what the computer said when I was done. Seems like a lot but they are pretty confident that it is accurate:ohwell: I also am feeling those obliques again. It feels pretty good to know that those muscles are under there somewhere:laugh:
Haven't been yet today. Going to have breakfast with hubby first today and then go workout. I'll be back later.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Did my workout this morning. Hit 3 yellows but the trainer said it's probably because I was bumped up from Wednesday's workout. I burned 265 calories on my HRM but don't remember what the computer said.

No Curves for me today - just walking & bike riding.
I'm going to get back to exercising more - after my surgery I just didn't feel good, but now it hurts whether or not I work out...
so it's time to get serious again!

Good job. I hit a lot of yellows yesterday on the machines as well. Hmmm, what's up with that?

I would love to go bike riding today. But, we are having a garage sale so I will take a break and go to Curves but will need to get back to relieve my hubby after so, I'm off!
    Have a great weekend.

Grammy, I don't get measured till this Friday. I never thought I'd say this but I'm looking forward to it:bigsmile:

I'm looking forward to it as well. That is on the following Friday (the 1st) . I've never looked forward to weighing and measuring but I think this time I am. I am hoping for inches lost to compliment my lbs lost!
    Happy Monday evening.

Well, didn't make it this morning as I had a dr. appointment so I will be going tomorrow. I'm not going to use my SmartCurves card because I don't want to confuse the program for Wed. and Friday so I will just have to rely on my HRM to make sure I'm getting a good workout in.

    I just got back - I burned 484 calories!
    It feels so good.

Went to Curves for my 80% workout day today. Seemed really hard for some reason. Maybe I ate too much breakfast before going?!
    Have a good evening.

What do you mean by 80% workout?

I go every day so Monday, Wednesday, Friday are 100% and then the Tues, Thurs, Sat are 80%. Today was 100% and if I miss tomorrow and Friday it would be 100% again on Saturday. If you miss a day it goes back to 100% (or more than one day). Does that make sense?

My PI was raised by 15 so I had to work harder! Burned 700 calories by their count. I'm only claiming 600 and I'll be working out in the yard today too so that will burn some more.

    Have a good day.

Hey all......... I finally made it home!
My sister's surgery went well - the cancer had not spread to the lymph nodes - AWESOME NEWS!

Only gained 1 pound, even though it's been 2 weeks since I've been to Curves and only got to walk 3 times in that 2 weeks. So........... back to Curves tonite after work. I can really tell it's been way too long since I worked out - I'm sure I'm going to be hurting tonight after I finish, but I know it'll get easier again very quickly.

Oh, I get it. Thanks for explaining.

I haven't made it there this week. It's been a crazy week but I'm going to go in the morning, then I guess Friday will be an 80% day for me and back to 100% on Monday.

I do my measurements this Friday:noway:

Welcome home Marla. Glad you got back safely and that your sister's surgery went well. You're right - AWESOME NEWS! and 1 pound when you are off your own schedule is not bad. That will be gone this week.

I had my first residual today on my workout! Bummer! I know why though. Besides my PI being raised I worked in the yard and my arms were so sore when I got on the machines that I didn't do as much as I should have. Oh well. Better tomorrow:wink:

Hope everyone has a great day.

    Granmmymax,
Wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be last night............ burned 447 calories and increased on all but 1 machine. Surprisingly wasn't sore last night or today - yeah!!  It felt so good to get in there and work the muscles..........kind of sad that I missed it so much (but not really)!!

I miss it, too, when I don't go for awhile.
At my weigh in today, I was disappointed to find I only lost 2 1/2 pounds, 2 inches, 1 # body fat. :grumble:
I feel like I've worked so hard & worked out more than ever, but then I had 2 weeks of yogurt, (sodium) cottage cheese & pasta. So I guess even though I stayed within my calories, it wasn't so good.
    oh well
    Have a good one!

    Grammymax,
Don't be disappointed about 2.5 pounds, 2 inches and 1 lb body fat lost - at least everything's moving in the right direction!!  Any time you're not able to follow your normal routine and eating habits it's hard to maintain what you've already achieved. :grumble: Just gotta keep at it and you'll make better progress next month. Remember - muscle gained takes up less space than fat, so you've probably gained more muscle than you think you have, AND, 1 lb body fat = 2 sticks of butter, so that's a good achievement in one month:happy:

Headed back to Curves tonite if this darned sinus headache goes away..... I'll probably go even if it's not gone - I need to get back into the routine and I'm not as hungry at dinnertime after I work out   Swimsuit season here in Kansas is fast approaching :noway: :noway: and I'm not ready for that yet!!!

Got increased by 34 last night......... killer workout, but managed to increase on 3 machines and burn 426 calories. Not bad for the 2nd time I've worked out in 2 weeks!!
Cold and windy this morning, but walked anyway 2.5 miles (with several long hills) in 40 minues.......3.6mph - I am SO proud of myself! :drinker: :drinker: The pedometer said I only burnd 193 calories, but hard to tell for sure since it measures by stride length and not heart rate. Any suggestions for a good but nout outrageously expensive heart rate monitor??

Okay buddies - where are you? I have been bad about not posting these last couple of days. But, I'm here today and have been to Curves. It was my 80% day so tomorrow will be stronger and harder because my PI has been raised by 28!

I don't know a lot about the heart rate monitors or what one is best. Yeahbuddy would be the best one to answer those questions. I've thought of investing also. I have pedometers but not a heart monitor.

Hope you're all doing well and hanging in there!

Hey Esther - was starting to wonder if you were OK....... no posts for several days is not like you!

I'm happy to say I've lost the weight I gained while helping my sister after surgery:happy:  It feels so good to make it back to Curves, even if the darn computer does crazy stuff like increasing my PI by 34:noway: :noway: Still managed to increase on 10 machines...... awesome!!
Now the hard part....... keeping the scale and tape measure moving in the right direction. :grumble:

My hubby is back home after being gone 4 weeks to a school, which means I have to cook at night again :grumble: :grumble: . I could live on salads and grilled chicken, but that only goes so far for him before he starts griping. Him being back home and warmer weather also means we'll be back on the neighbor's deck overlooking the gorgeous river valley and knocking back a few :glasses: :drinker: :drinker: . The margaritas I can limit with no problem, it's the mindless munching that goes with it that is hard for me to stop. Gonna have to really pay attention to what I'm picking up and putting into my mouth!!! :embarassed:
