I totally agree, Anna. I don't understand being called a troll for having a negative opinion of fast food.
You don't like like a troll to me!:flowerforyou:0 -
A recent study shows that unhealthy food is cheaper, in the sense that you get more calories for less money. Which doesn't mean it's healthy or giving your body what it needs.

I wouldn't consider BK or McD's a "treat". If I want to get my daughter a treat, I buy her a cute toy she wants, or once in awhile grab some homemade fudge. All set with genetically engineered "meat."0

Yeah, let's barbecue our dogs while we're at it...

I guess after eating fast food on a consistent basis, I'll be accused of my physique being "chemically enhanced".

I'd like to know where you all are shopping that you can feed a family of 6 for under 10$ and a 5 course meal at that????
I can feed my family of 6 spaghetti for under 10$ I saw one person said a large head of brocolli cost 67 cents!!! Insanity at least 3$ where I live. And chicken A pack of chicken breasts alone for about 4 boneless skinless breasts is over 10$.0 -
Yeah, let's barbecue our dogs while we're at it...Asians would if it weren't illegal. We can do it to cows, pigs, chickens, and fish legally though.
I would never! :laugh:0 -
I've eaten horse. It was pretty good.0

It's to appeal to those who seek a cheap and easy meal to throw together. Unfortunately for most people, it's a tactic that works!0

It is a good deal fast food wise, but not the healthiest option. We use to buy $1 McDoubles at McDonalds and I was thinking the other day (I am such a bargain shopper!) and its convenience I guess I was going for. I just went shopping and bought 2 weeks worth of food for $30....... But as someone else said, its ok for a treat every once in awhile.0

I agree that for the average person fast food is going to be part of their diet once in a while. I just don't see how it's a "treat." To me, a treat is a steak dinner at a nice restaurant, not a crappy burger from McDonald's that would taste better if I made it myself.0

I know it's totally subjective, I'm not judging. I just can't wrap my head around it. To me, someone saying fast food is a treat is pretty much the same as someone saying a root canal is a treat.0 -

To me, eating a big bowl of salad would be worse than a root canal.
Taste is a funny thing...0 -

WHOA! I was not applauding them when I posted it was a "godsend" . I was saying that you have no idea what it is like until you are in someone elses shoes. You can say " I would never, not matter what the circumstance" all you want, but the fact is, your really don't know. Education is the key, but that does not mean that it is an easy solution. The fact is that many of these kids are raised on fast food. It is not the kids fault, but it is a cycle. I teach at a high school, and I do teach the kids about healthy foods and choices. And these kids do go home and tell there parents, but that does not mean that it goes any further than that.In an ideal world yes. The truth is that these days, most affluent/spoiled TWENTY year olds can't even fix a meal, let alone a poverty-ridden 13 year old.
Agreed. But it was an MFP poster applauding them for it (called the deal a "godsend").0
