December Ironman Challenge

Just like November, here's the challenge:
The goal is to complete Ironman Triathlon mileage in the 30 days of December as follows:
--Running/ Walking 26.2 miles
--Biking 112 miles
--Swimming 2.4 Miles
We'll use this forum all month to log and report our mileage. You can log daily or weekly-- whatever keeps you motivated!
You may modify your mileage goals to suit your specific circumstances (e.g., no bike, etc.) but you must SET and declare those goals at the beginning of the month, and it must still be a combination of running/walking, biking, and swimming.
I'm a swimmer, so I'm setting my own swimming goals higher than a traditional Ironman, but I also know that I will have limited access to both the pool and the gym over the University's holiday break, so I'm setting my swimming and biking goals based on what I can reasonably finish before the gym shuts down; and then making up the difference in walking/running. My total estimated time is equivalent to the average time it took me to reach my October and November goals (18.3 hours)
My goals are:
Running/ Walking 29.5 miles (+- 8 hours)
Biking 72 miles (+- 6 hours)
Swimming 5.5 miles (+- 4 hours)

I am in. I will adapt it this time since I can't seem to get myself to log time on the trainer. I was doing ok until the weather turned.
Swim - 3 miles
Bike - 50 miles
Run - 55 miles (same as my running challenge)
FTR - since some of my biking may be done on an indoor trainer with no computer, same deal as last month, I will assume a 14mph speed.0 -
back in...love this challenge . But i'm revising my goal as i just hate the exercise bike at the moment.
Running/ Walking/ (& now including Eliptical) 131.2. miles--
Swimming 12.4 Miles
wow.......somehow the bike is totally gone in my goals:huh::bigsmile:0 -
I'll give it a try0

Sign me up! I need something to motivate me on walking so maybe this'll do it.0

I am back, and after last months epic fail of the swim (did a total of ZERO miles) im going to get my *kitten* to be pool and complete the full 2.4 miles!
Targets:
Swim: 2.5 i will get to the pool at least 3 times to complete this! FACT!
Bike: 50 most of this will be on my crappy exercise bike.
Run: 60 all outside running! So hope the weather is kind for me to put the miles!0 -
I'm back for another go!
Love this challenge each month.
Hi to new folks, Welcome to the challenge and I'll be extending friend invitations to you all for additional support.
Going to try for 200 bike & 100 run this month... Although I have a rest week scheduled so it may be tough to hit those numbers.0 -
Can I join please? Will stick to the goals you have set except can anyone tell me how many lengths of the pool that is? Im not a keen swimmer but willing to give it a go - our local pool is 25 metres so how many lengths am I aiming for? Thanks in advance x0

PTpinkfit, that depends on how long your pool is. If it's a standard 25 yard pool, then 2.4 miles is about 169 lengths of the pool.

Looks like everyone is off to a great start!
I am in again. My goals are the ironman goals for this month.
Due to the holidays this month, I will have limited time cycling and swimming. I have been walking the past few days, I have to calculate my actual miles. Visiting a friend in the mountains this weekend and I have been walking up hills and jogging down the other side because they are so steep. I have my faithful companion Buddah, a lab german shepard mix who looks forward to his daily walk...and yes I only see this dog a few times a year...and he remembers...How dedicated am I to exercising??? Braving 22 degree weather, walking mountain roads with in the dark, with only my flashlight and Buddah is there to scare off anything that moves...yes...the bears are not hibrnating yet!0 -
