Living Social McDonald's Deal

Actually, I hope you have the opportunity. US horse meat is usually from horses that have regularly been treated with banamine and toxic wormers, as well as other drugs labeled "not for use on animals intended for human consumption". Health effects range from kidney failure to forms of leukemia. Please... Chow down.0

I just can't believe that anyone with any conscience would support a corporation like McDonald's with their $$. If you want a burger, fine. There are many, many places to buy one that don't have the abyssmal ethical and environmental record that McDonald's does. Eating at McDonald's (as well as many other fast food chains) means you don't give a *kitten* about animal rights, human rights, or the environment.
True. I can't wait until congress lets us eat horse burgers!
Troll much?

those taste anything like Buffalo burgers? I'd like to try one myself...
how am I the troll? Also, pretty sure its against member rules to wish harm on others.... But, thanks for playing! :flowerforyou:0 -

Why did the expression "come down off your high horse" spring to mind?0 -

Hello Myfitnesspals!
Today Living Social posted a deal for 5 Big Macs and 5 Large Fries for $13! SMH and people wonder why the US is the fattest country! Just because you get more doesn't mean it's better. I better not see any of myfitnesspals buying that deal!
Love ya!
Lauren
Feeding a family of five for 13 bucks sounds like a pretty good deal to me. You could also go with four of your other friends.0 -
I used to love MacDonalds like crazy. Ate way too much and always felt bad afterwards...I haven't eaten MacDonalds in over 6 months and it feels good. I'm never tempted to go inside whenever I walk past a MacDonalds or KFC joint.0

and if people don't acquire the willpower to limit themselves to mostly eating things in moderation, they are destined to fail in their diets or be in a perpetual cycle of weight gain/loss0

Mcdonalds is gross.I hope you realize that people come here to avoid temptatuin and support. Taunting their weakness for having a trigger due to this thread is cruel and insensitive. Instead of apologizing you jk more and suggest they eat a burger. Of course they could see an advertisement but it doesnt reply to their thread teasing them about a choice fir themselves.Go eat you greasy hamburgers and fries and we will give you weight loss tips next week when u cant figure iut y u are still fat. Moderation my a@#. Have fuuuun with that

If you care about the environment so much, then why do you have a computer?

I saw this on Facebook a few days ago and thought, WTH? If five people are going to split the cost and calories of the deal, well and good. But I can see a lot of COEs jamming up drive-thrus across America to take advantage of this deal, take everything home and finish everything off.0

If they were really COE, would a coupon change anything? I think they would probably do it regardless of cost.0 -

No wish for harm, however consuming US horse meat comes with health risks that many are not aware of... If you choose to indulge in imported horse meat in Japan or Europe you are most likely being exposed to harmful chemicals not intended for livestock use, as horses are not considered or treated as livestock animals in the US. Enjoy!0

It was just a joke. Don't worry. We won't be getting kidney failure or leukemia anytime soon.0 -

Just as they were prior to 2007 - which included no controls for banned substances.
USDA has no control over (nor record of) what drugs owners treat their horses with prior to slaughter. Veterinarians can treat horses with these drugs legally because horses are not considered livestock animals.0 -
Dang McDonald's. They have peppermint hot chocolate and it's sooo good. Oh yeah and spicy mcchicken!0

I read through this entire thread. I actually agree with emergencytennis about this thread being distateful, potentially derailing people etc. I think for people who have addiction to food (or anything) there is a real ability to be tempted just by hearing/seeing things like this. The reason there is so much money spent on advertising by McDonald's is because it works. It works well. While fast food is not the only thing that has contributed to the obesity epidemic in this country, it is a definitely a significant factor. There are certainly people who will have read this thread, and used it as an excuse to overeat--there is power to group thinking. Really. Not for everyone, but for some.
On a personal note, I find McDonald's gross. I have eaten it once in the past 3 months since starting here and I felt disgusting afterward.0 -

I would have, as long as I could redeem them one at a time and had several months to do so. I love Big Macs. I could live without the fries though.0 -

Personally, and ignore the fact this is coming from a vegan because it's not an animal-rights thing for me,
McDonalds is effing disgusting and even as a kid I never enjoyed it.
It's bad for you and I'd rather fuel my body with good stuff.
I don't think the thread will "derail"anyone, but I don't get how people can eat the over-processed-unrecognizable crap.
Not to mention, it is true, the advertising totally brainwashes people. I'm writing a paper on fast food advertising in working class areas as we speak...0 -

Anyone derailed by the comments made here would be derailed by anything. A forum thread on the tastiness of McDonald's will never be the culprit from someone going off the rails. If it isn't something as benign as this, it will be something else -- an advertisement, a comment overheard in the grocery store, a sign, the aroma of a certain food...
Do the rest of us have to be censored from expressing our opinions because someone that lacks self control cannot handle them?
Where we draw the line? Should we not discuss water intake because someone could drink too much and die from water intoxication?0
