Haha! This is hilarious/horrifying! I totally need a need a new bag of tricks for 2012, I do all of these!!
The only one that even remotely raises my blood pressure is loose vs lose.0 -
Phenomenal (lmao) & Hubby Hubby Hubby (lmao)
Phenomenal...doo doooo doo-doo-doo....
Phenomenal...doo doo-doo doo...
Phenomenal...doo doooo doo-doo-doo doo-doo-doo doo-doo-doo doodoodoodoodoo doo doo doo-doo doo
I always do that. Always. With phenomenon, too.
Now I shall have that wretched tune stuck in my brain, rattling around endlessly.
I am guilty of using the word "awesome" far too often.0 -

TOM
Oh, yeah! This one, too! So many women act as if they don't realize it's going to happen EVERY MONTH!0 -

What's wrong with hubby?

"Hubby"
I despise that word...I have a HUSBAND...
"Deets"
If I wanted "deets" I would go to the store and purchase a few bottles of OFF! bug repellant with deet. If I want DETAILS I will specifically ask you to tell me details...
Not even sure why those 2 words bother me, but they do!0 -

It's a seriously annoying word.0 -
HATE
Such a negative word - everytime someone starts a post with "I hate......" cardio, eggs, vegetables, exercise........ I just cringe
Time to start using positive affirmations rather than the H word - you might get much better results that way.....
Well we are 3 hours 15 minutes away from 2012 here in New Zealand - so here is to a fabulous 2012 for you all!
In my house I made the rule that you were not allowed to say Hate as it is a very harsh like there is no changing your mind but we can say dislike which to us means there is room for improvement.. I may dis like doing jumping jacks but i do them and they have grown on me.... If i hated them then that is it.. there is not going forward .... it also has the word like in it which helps my theory...:)0 -
Haha...I see some of my own bromides here. I'd like to hear words which you LIKE to see in response to your statuses. Guessing it may be a shorter list.0
-
some of these i have never seen before and they did my head in on the first reading.. like preggo. what is up with that... .*sighs* wonders what happened to our language...0
-
Totes. That one just pisses me off.
On the same topic, why have we all given up on the English language? Is it *THAT* much more difficult to eschew text-speak and just use real words and realistic, if not proper grammar?
Kthxbye!0 -

Freedom of speech homie/homegirl
I appreciate the support no matter the source or their means.
I understand not everyone has the gift of gab, no need to forsake the linguistically challenged.
I say not ban any words, and un ban prior words.
On the grounds that language is what seperates use from animals, this stuff is sacred.
Maybe im just a weirdo, i dunno.0 -

"Good job" gets old after a while
"totes" is a seriously annoying word!
"Epic" is not epic.
"Fail" is only funny sometimes, it is overused and it irritates me.
Overall It annoys me when people speak in Ebonics, because I have no idea what they are saying or what they mean. Texting has made the English language go downhill. There are so many acronyms I have to look up online on urbandictionary.com. Haha!0 -
These type of logs should be banned: Burned 200 cals "doing hair" Come on Fitness Pals
This probably depends on what your hair looked like before you started "doin" it. LOL0 -
Another vote for hubby over here!
It's not so bad on here but on facebook I notice people suddenly start using child speak when talking about their children. Eg, 'ickle bubbas' No, they are called babies.
Back to MFP though, I notice a fair few people people have 'weight-ins' as opposed to 'weigh-ins'. Is that a regional thing or is it OK that it bugs me?0 -
The word I really don't like to see is one which is rarely actually written but is often so much in evidence.....FASCISM!
Seriously, if something is irksome to read, don't read it! Who are we to dictate how people should spell, or what they should talk about?
Having been a teacher for almost 15 years, I know that some people genuinely cannot spell some words, no matter how hard they try. And funnily enough, this has never made them bad people. Nor stupid people. Ditto some folks' need to talk about certain topics. People need to talk - that's why internet fora work so well. For some, it's the only chance they get to discuss matters - not everyone is blessed with supportive friends and family.
Regarding profile comments, I really don't mind what people write on mine, as long as it's positive...and since they *are* my friends, they are always positive! Certainly there have been instances when I've felt that perhaps giving me a 'WTG' when (due to illness) I've only consumed 200 cals in a day was not the best comment, and maybe an indication that my food diary had not been looked at, but the fact remains that that person still cared enough to take the time to contribute *something*...and that means a lot to me. Most of us lead very busy lives, and IMO, giving one's time is a very precious gift indeed...one I am always incredibly happy to receive.
So, one word I would like to see more....TOLERANCE! :bigsmile:1. Wowzers,
2. Woop woop,
3. TTYL
4. light house cleaning burns
LMAO, people have light house cleaning everyday. I'm like, "How dirty is your house???"
Oh, I don't know - I suspect that cleaning a lighthouse every day has got to burn an awful lot, especially if done from top to bottom! Cleaning that light on the top is bound to be a great upper arm workout!
On a more serious note - for some people, housework may be the only workout they are capable of. I don't see how burning 200 cals doing the cleaning every day is any different to burning the same amount running, walking, or doing any other form of 'legitimate' exercise every day! What is important is that people are moving, surely? Housework may not have the same benefits as running (for example) but for someone who has previously led a very sedentary life, it could make a huge difference, especially if they live in a large house.
