Re: This being a success story. I think it is a sucess if you can admit to yourself and others the shortcomings that need correcting. So, yes, it is a success for everyone here that replies.

I am overweight because I quit smoking, ate too much, started a relationship and ate out alot without thinking about it ... drank too much ... ate the wrong foods and lots of them, and did not work out.

My deal: the real deal: I was raped when I was 14 after that I put on a lot of weight so men wouldnt bother me. Now, I am married and I have stable relationship so I can begin to heal. I also use food as a coping mechanism. I didnt realize all this until I went to therapy. Now, it is a matter of learning new habits. I never was much into exercise either but heh, no excuse. So, traumatic event, bad coping skills, lack of working out made me fat. And now, guess what? I am interested in body building can you believe that?

I am fat because I put more in the hole in my face than the amount of energy I put out during any given day. I eat crap food, sit my butt on the couch and watch the boob tube. Although, not any more. I've been preparing myself for success for the past year +. A year and a half ago, I quit drinking alcohol. 6 month ago, I gave up artificial sweeteners and 2 months ago I quit smoking. I wanted to get all of those things out of the way so there would be NOTHING standing in my way of succeeding at getting healthy. About a year ago I became a Beachbody Coach and never really stuck to any of my goals. Now, I have decided that I will be my own success story...starting NOW1

I was not motivated to exercise anymore- i was frustated with some challenges in my life and as a result i ate tooooooooooo many cakes, croissants (all the things that rarely passed my lips became regular visitors).

Prior to the past 2 years I was a relatively healthy fit person but s@!t happens. I just kept eating the cakes and crisps and i knew it wasn't MEEEEEEEEE but still did it. I had no motivation to stop or workout.

I quit socialising as much as i used to- so didn't have that constant Friday and Saturday night 'of putting on the perfect outfit'- so didn't really notice the weight gain immediately. i recognised i was a 'little heavier' a few times when i was heading out with friends and began to run late all the time because nothing looked quite right - so limited self to jeans and a top and still wished i could back out but didn't- BUT NEVER TOOK IN THE FULL PICTURE.

Unnnnnnnnnntil, I went on vacation and noticed i had a muffin top- Wow now that put things in perspective for me. That's why I wassssssssss FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT, that's why i am Overweight or that's why i have a high BMI. Whatever!!!!!!!!! there I said it  Ok got that off my chest... Tomorrow some Zuuuuuuuuuuuuumba

I had to move out of home for safety, and I moved in with my boyfriend and his mum. I went from being in a place where food wasn't readily available, I bought most of my own ingredients and often had to cook my own meals. For the most part, nobody cared or noticed when or what I ate -- and if my mum did cook, it was usually something light, and there were never any leftovers to snack on.

My boyfriend's mum is a stay-at-home carer for his grandmother (her mother), and cooks full meals with big servings. Combine that with becoming lazier, eating more fast food (because I no longer had to buy most of my own ingredients to cook meals) and drinking alcohol, and I gained 15kg.

Simple answer, ate more than I burned.
More reasons that made it harder to make the right choices 4 pregnancies in 5 years, emotional eating after emotional trauma, messed up metabolism, hubby cooks and loves sauces, screwed up priorities.

I just love food....pure and simple. I am addicted to food like a crack addict. If I was not in the Army for the last ten years I am sure I would be as big as a house!

Oh goodness. Before Highschool i was overweight because of depression and lack of exercise. I then started playing sports my 8th grade year and LOST a TON. I actuallly looked AMAZING in a bikini. Senior year was a hard year for me and I began to put back on the weight. After high school I was out of control. I maintained my weight for a awhile until I moved in with my boyfriend and now husband. We got comfortable and I got lazy. I gained a lot of weight. In the past two years I have had a baby, a wedding, lost my grandmother and the biggest one was the loss of my father. After my dad died I went into a deep depression. He was my best friend and to make matters worse I was 6months pregnant when he passed away. he never got to see his grandson. I also worked as a dispatcher which invovled me sitting on my butt for 12hrs with no exercise and eating from bordom. I am now out of the dispatcher chair and working towards a degree as an RN in the mean time I am a stay at home mom. Looking forward to getting my life and bady back

I can come up with a million and one reasons why I am fat...but it boils down to personal responsibility. I'm fat because I ate too much crap and didn't exercise. No excuses.

I was a lazy *kitten*, thinking I was "naturally thin." When I realized I wasn't, it was too late, I was already fat as hell! I focused too much on career and not enough on ME.

Before losing 87 pounds and reaching my goal weight, I over ate. Ate too many desserts and buffets. Spent years focusing on my career and not me. Had an expense account and did a lot of traveling and eating in resorts and hotels.
  • I used to be overweight because I had been in a serious relationship for about a year and a half - I got comfortable and let myself go a little. I started my healthy lifestyle about a year and a half ago, so I don't consider myself "fat" anymore at 5'5'' and 135 pounds.

It all started with my family buying a computer for us kids... I used to be on it for hours at a time... Then I started dating my ex... And we would sit around watching tv and movies... And we would always go to restaurants or get fast food... Then we broke up and I sat around for about two years not caring about what I looked like and all that... And now I am getting my life together. :)
