Men... taking a poll...

I'm not a man, but I've gotta put my two cents in Abusive women can be just as bad as men and often don't contain their abusive behavior to men (ie - children, other women, animals...). Two current day situations come to mind; Teen Moms (my guilty pleasure) where Amber often hit her boyfriend Gary, and, just like an abusive man, would justify her behavior by saying he'd provoked it. Thank goodness he never retaliated! Another current example is Chris Brown and Rhianna; while everyone saw Rhianna's face after their infamous fight,(and Chris's out-of-control anger on GMA) Rhianna's penchant for physical fights was not as widely discussed. I guess my point is that abusive women need to be addressed as dysfuntional just as abusive men are - not with retaliation, but with anger management and therapeutic interventions - a woman hitting ANYONE should never be taken lightly.0

Absolutely NOT!!! There is never a situation where it's ok for a man to hit a woman.0
-
Absolutely. Hit, Hit, Punch, Punch
Anytime, you have a strength and weight advantage you should attack!0 -
only if it's an after hours activity that both parties are enjoying, shouidn't be absolutely any other circumstance.0
-
It's not ok. And woman should not take advantage of the double standard by hitting men. Everyone keep your hands to yourself.0

Couldn't have said it better! :happy:0 -
To quote Chris Rock..."I'd never hit a woman, but I'd shake the $%&* out of one"0
-
Eh... Im iffy; I don't think peoe should be hitting/slapping one another to begin with BUT if a woman were to slap a man it's EASIEST and SAFEST for everyone if he leaves and never goes back.
For those who have said, "if I get slapped it's probably because I said/did something to deserve it" I think youre off a little (but still kind!). Puppies get the newspaper swat on the butt for chewing shoes; humans dont get slapped got wrong doings (we're not talking criminal offenses here).
We're different from other animals and should use our knowledge, patience, and self control. However, people do snap; if a husband or wife comes home with news of an extramarital affair, for instance, the faithful partner could be easily pushed toward violence and it's a bit more understandable (while not excusable).
Please excuse typos, etc... On my phone!!0 -
In a court of law: No
In my opinion, No aswell.
I know its a huge double standard, and I totally believe it is. Just the same, women are able to manipulate, degrade, be little, and verbaly abuse men better than they can women, but still, I believe there is really nothing you can do about it. Lets be honest, anyone who says counter, imagine being on the other end of the court room in the jury box, your gonna blame the guy.
You see, my girl is small, petite, but can pack a whollop of a punch. The only thing is, Im a black belt, been studying karate for almost 14 years. If she hit me, instinctively, my reaction would cause both of us a lot of problems.
In short, guys need to just take it.0 -
Never.... ever.... ever....0

In my world it's never OK to hit a woman.
It takes a coward of a man to do that.
If she's so much the witch, leave - walk away - walk OUT OF HER LIFE, but a real man never hits a woman.0 -
My psyc class got into this argument for 2 hours today... if a woman slaps you is it okay to hit her back?
I think it is an incredibly sexist comment to say that if a woman struck you as a male you would not punch back but if it was another male you would punch back. Especially now that the lines to gender differences are being blurred and definitions are changed constantly.
I think it is situational in general. If someone I knew or loved hit me I would never hit them back regardless of who they were with an emphasis on if they were a woman. Men who do that are weak and cowardly. I grew up with my sister constantly hitting me, scratching, punching, pushing kicking and I would just hold her down because too me hitting any one back that is lesser size / skill set than you is cowardly.
With that being said, I have been in the law enforcement / security industry for a while and all that crap goes out of the door when some crazy biotch is coming at you with a bat or knife or shank or something, all bets are off, she's getting knocked out.0 -
No, /thread0
-
No could never hit a woman, I could stop her from hitting my but never strike back, its just not right!!0
-
Nope.
By all means protect yourself if you're in danger, like she's coming at you with a knife or your golf clubs, but don't hit her back just cos she hit you.
If there is a problem, call the police. Court order! Restorative justice! The judicial system's there for a reason. No self-respecting woman wants an assault charge on their pre-employment police check.
I've been slapped maybe three times? Each was because the woman was so mad / frustrated at what I was doing or saying that she lashed out - ultimately a moral victory (all the more frustrating for the other party).0 -
its NEVER okay to hit a woman we are stronger than woman if anyone was raised half way decient they would know to walk away. Any guy that would thinks that its okay think about someone hitting your mom or daughter and answer the question again seriuosly!!!0

I got slapped on the face when I was 12, the boy was 11.. he was the rudest SOB ever and kept yelling about using the computer and I stood beside said "STFU" and he got angry and slapped me. Never forget that incident...
But... we became friends now... :P
I know men is taking this poll but I would say, women shouldn't take advantage of this to hit men all the time. I hate women who do that because they deserve slaps from both genders. Lol0 -
Its never okay to hit a woman.0

I say Either Restrain (Catch her arm) or separation (not violently pushing her away) like not throwing her to the ground but pushing off enough that there is separation.0
-
Sorry but any woman raising her hand to a man deserves a smack back just the same if it was the opposite way round!
Not that i advocate anyone smacking anyone, but fair is fair!0 -
I haven't read the full thread. A slap does not constitute a reason for a man to hit a woman. Now, if she comes at him with a weapon, he can and should thump her.0

This pretty much. I've never recieved a slap (touch wood), but I did have a girl try to stab me with some very long scissors once - even then I only pushed her away.0
